Experiencia fantástica: It is a mystery to me why there are so many negative reviews on Yelp. My experience was a polar opposite. The staff are friendly, kind, and efficient. Andrea went out of her way to help me with my insurance coverage and went over all the charges to make sure I understood everything. I waited about five minutes before they brought me into the patient room. The x-ray tech was great and she was fast. Now, let’s get to Dr. Ramon; he was pleasant and jovial as well as extremely professional. In all my years going to the dentist, I have never experienced a procedure that was completely pain-free; this visit was an exception. He is gentle and highly skilled. I had five crowns done in one day and it went as smooth as silk. Then, there is Erick Pomp who assisted Dr. Ramon. The man is amazing, professional, and very good at his job. I even asked him how long he’s been doing it because he handled everything flawlessly. He made me feel comfortable and did a perfect job on the impressions. I just switched to this dental group and I’m so glad I did. Thank you, Gentle Dental team

The office billed over $200 for a 15 minute cleaning that they tried to bill to my insurance as a “deep cleaning” Despite multiple messages to both this office and corporate requesting more detail on the billing, no one has bothered to return my call. I have also mailed two written letters requesting a reconciliation of my account and still no response. The only communication I receive from them is a monthly invoice while continuing to ignore every request for actual communication from this office and a reconciliation of my account. Unless you are looking to be overcharged and ignored, I would stay away from this office.

Experiencia negativa: I hate writing negative reviews but here I go. I had a crown done a couple months ago and here I am just telling you now my bad experience. Not going to say who worked on my teeth but I got PTSD from that last visit. Have you ever got 3-4 shots to numb you up but still felt every single time he touch my tooth with a drill. I don’t know how I got through it but I did. I complained about it but still proceeded. The worst part was I made so many trips to that dentist because he messed up on the first crown. Also they did my blood pressure and they said it was high. I went to Kaiser urgent care right after and they said it was fine 145/85. Very unprofessional in my books. He kept going to other patients so one of my appointments took 2 1/2 hours. A lot of waiting like they don’t care about your schedule for the day. Well after my crown I was having tooth pain on the tooth he work on. I finally went another dentist and guess what? Took 45 mins, one visit, didn’t t feel no pain and the best part. He fixed it for good. Just wanted to put it out because I’ve been wanting to write this review for the longest time.

Experiencia negativa: I am writing this review in the hope that management will use it to address critical gaps in their patient care system and office workflow. My experience today was incredibly disappointing due to a severe lack of communication and an incomplete examination. I was asked to arrive early, yet I sat in the waiting room for over 30 minutes past my appointment time. When I brought the delay to the attention of the front desk clerk, she stated she would check on the status, but she never returned to give me an update or acknowledge the wait. Once I was finally brought back, the dentist's evaluation was remarkably brief. Despite having a documented history of bone loss that requires regular monitoring, the dentist merely did a quick visual scan. He did not probe my teeth or check my periodontal pockets, and there was no dental assistant present to note any measurements. Afterward, I was sent for X-rays, which was another excessively long, uncoordinated process. To conclude the visit, the dentist never even sat me back up in the chair to discuss a treatment plan. He simply stated I was "good to go" and offhandedly mentioned I would need cleanings every three months and a deep cleaning every two years, with no further explanation. There is a noticeable lack of office etiquette and rhythm here. Because this facility accepts community care referrals from the VA, many veterans are sent here for their dental health. Our veterans deserve thorough, respectful, and efficient care, and I sincerely hope the clinic takes immediate steps to revamp their scheduling, patient communication, and clinical examination standards. Update / Note on customer service: Looking at the reviews here, it’s clear management relies on automated, AI-generated responses that just swap out the reviewer's first name. As a patient, it would be much more appreciated if a real person actually read this feedback and used it to fix their system, rather than giving a hollow, copy-paste reply.

Experiencia fantástica: Stephanie was great with my 14-year daughter’s teeth cleaning. She helped us get an earlier appointment so that my daughter got her cleaning RIGHT after the ortho had literally removed her braces. She went the extra mile to get some left over braces cement removed that was left behind and under her gum line, which would have been a problem if it wasn’t noticed. We also got some great tips and advice. I felt really well cared for and highlighted recommend Kind Dental!

Experiencia fantástica: My son, who's autistic, had a great 1st visit! I had been dreading this visit because doctor visits and haircuts can be very challenging for him. We had to make his 1st dental appointment so we could get a referral for a specialist that specializes with accomodating child patients with special needs (for insurance purposes). Right off the bat the entire staff was super helpful and gentle and understanding with him. My son had the opposite reaction I was anticipating. He didn't lash out or scream or hit. The dentist and their team were patient with him. We didnt get the outcome we were hoping for, but it was, overall, a pleasant visit. I'm thankful to the team being so accommodating because these experiences can be traumatic for both the child and the parents.

I went for a community care appt with the VA and the tech was distracted during the filling, the front desk staff took forever to manage pts and they only had one working there which seemed like she was probably overworked more than anything. Just not a great space, atmosphere wise either. I won’t be going back. My dentist did efficient and effective work but did seem rushed but he was fine coming back when I wasn’t satisfied with something. I waited forever after the filling for my cleaning. My dental hygienist though was thorough and great! That was one positive!

Wait about 3 months called them multiple times. So I just stopped going there. Imagine waiting almost 3 months in so much pain waiting for them to send the correct paperwork. Also asked to talk a dentist and would tell me they will call me back but never calls me back.

The focus seemed more on upselling than patient care and transparency. Patients deserve honest recommendations based on medical necessity, not sales tactics. I would strongly encourage others to ask questions and seek a second opinion before agreeing to additional procedures. Experiencia negativa: We had a 9am appointment. We were a new client.So we knew it would take a few minutes to set us up, however, I had to ask them at 9:40am when they were seeing my daughter. They took her in, took her blood pressure.I've never had a dentist, do that. They were able to do her x.Rays. so at 11am, i finally asked them what was taking so long, and they brought me back to talk about their recommendations. They didn't even clean her teeth. They said they had someone available If I wanted to stay longer, they could fit her in. Unfortunately, I couldn't spend more than 2 hours at the dentist. This morning for a basic appointment. They did not seem very organized. We also asked for consult for an oral surgeon to remove a wisdom tooth in my teenager. I made an appointment for console.And they said he could possibly do the removal at that same time. So I asked how they would do pain management, and they said it would just be general, not sedation. So no I won't be bringing my teenager back So they can yank her tooth. I would have her mouth with just the general shot. I didn't get a lot of confidence out of any one during this experience.

Experiencia fantástica: As someone who NEEDS A LOT of dental work (due to poor genetics and prescribed medicines that cause tooth decay), I am happy to report that this office STAFF has an embarrassment of riches - from the front office staff, to the hygienists, dentists and specialists - EACH staffer treats you with the empathy of a TRUE HEALER by ensuring you ALWAYS feel comfortable and are fully aware of your status/options. Yes, this is even true of the front office staff who are happy to explore financial options with you while being compassionate and considerate. And their dentisits have done BRILLIANT work restoring my teeth and guiding me through various recoveries. I have been using Gental Dental exclusively since I moved to CA in 2010, and have lived in Bakersfield, Joshua Tree and now San Diego. All of their offices have talented healers. The Grossmont branch is top-notch and stands out from my experience in SoCal. That said, Dr. Ashraf Soliman in the Bakersfield Office, will forever be the most gifted healer that has ever treated me on planet Earth (at least to date).

There was confusion however about what service I was receiving. I had to clarify why I was there. It took a few minutes to confirm the service I was scheduled to receive.

It’s frustrating working with the clerks sometimes but the dental staff are competent.

My crown they put in a while ago doesn’t fit so I need to come back… My first experience was OK minus the waiting.. I was in the office for four hours to do like an hour of work..

Experiencia negativa: Just experienced the worst service with this clinic whose staff completely wasted 3 hours of my time only to tell me on the third hour that they aren’t even sure they can take my insurance. They took the X-rays and exams, and made me sit there on the chair waiting for a doctor just to tell me I won’t be able to get my cleaning done. Do not recommend. The dentist and technician were having conversations with other staff about lunch and other personal conversations while I was having my cavity filled and prepped for the new crown. Also the Dentist received a phone call during my procedure as her ringer was on and next to my ear. She then put me on hold and took the phone call in the other room. Then returned to my dental procedure. Additionally the technician initially took an impression of the wrong tooth to be prepped for the crown. When the dentist was done with the drilling and prep for my temporary crown she did not come back to see how I was doing. By the time I was done with my temporary crown with the technician the Dentist had already left for the day. With out checking in on myself the Patient! So completely rude and unprofessional. I was literally treated like a number and not a human having a major procedure done. Lastly, the office Manager that reviewed and took my billing tried to charge me for a procedure I did not have done on this visit. When I told her that I had not had the additional deep cleaning done on my left half of my mouth she snapped that she wasn’t including this in the billing of $946.00 that she was demanding to collect. When I told her that $946.00 was not the price I was quoted for the new crown with my insurance coverage she was dismissive and told me I was incorrect. When she took my credit card to bill me the $946.00 she then realized that I was indeed correct. And that I should only be charged $696.00 And that she had circled the wrong amount and that I indeed did not have the deep cleaning done like I had told her. Instead of listening to myself ( the client, the patient) with compassion and understanding she stood on her point with a snarky attitude that I was incorrect and that I would be paying the $946.00. She did see her mistake and charged me correctly at $646.00 after going round and round with her about the discrepancy. I have been going to Gentle Dental for over 10 years. Never had I been treated like this and seen such utter unprofessionalism. This appointment at Gentle Dental Grossmont in La Mesa was truly a disgrace and lack of any sort of professionalism from a dentist office I have EVER received or wish for any other patient. Deplorable is how I would rate this visit.

Experiencia negativa: This is my feedback to their request for feedback: I’m rating my only two appointments thus far. During my initial appointment, I was told that I require the following care, but after a recent appointment with my primary care dentist, he stated. PCD = (Primary care dentist) 1: Gentle Dental said that I had a cavity. (PCD): Doctor Krupnak stated that he agrees that there is a very small possible cavity. 2: your office told me that I have only had one root canal. (PCD): Doctor Krupnak showed me where I have had two root canals on teeth directly next to one another. 3: your office gave me a care plan that I needed a crown. (PCD): Doctor Krupnak Says that he does not see anywhere in my mouth that requires a crown. 4: Your treatment plan states that I either need a root canal, or have an infection in one of my teeth, or I was told that directly. (PCD): Doctor Krupnak Disagrees 100%. He sees no evidence that I need a root canal or have an infection.. 5: nearly every day in your treatment plan was contradicted by my regular dentist during a yearly check up after I saw you for the second time for a cleaning. 6: I do not like the fact that you try to up. sale me on a PERIO protect scan for $750 out-of-pocket if my insurance didn’t pay, if I went ahead and had the scan done at that time. I sent that request to the VA in a secure message as soon as you all presented it to me and they will decide, but I’m not coming out of pocket for any of this. I came out of pocket when I served my country. 6: I chose Dr. Stephen Gallos…. I believe that’s superior dentist that I selected, having no idea that he was part of a dental group. I would never have picked him if I was aware that he only shows up once a month, which is normally not a big deal but actually it is because I shouldn’t be able to see him in a irrational time if the need arrives. 7: my primary dentist, doctor KRUPNAK informed me that I was not supposed to see a general dentist for my initial appointment. I was supposed to see the Periodontist. You are referred me or are referring me to an endodontist, but I’m just so confused at this point… PS during my appointment with my regular dentist, he called you all multiple times because he needed your treatment plan, and I had taken pictures of it on my phone, but your plan didn’t state which tooth needed what treatment, and he says that he didn’t receive any information at the VA. After my dentist had to get off the phone because my appointment was basically ruined with him since he couldn’t figure out what you all want it done where. I followed up with you after leaving my dentists office and spoke to a lady in your office to request a copy of my treatment plan numbered with what teeth needed what and you never sent it as of this day March 12, 2026 WOW… I made a mistake to the feedback that I sent you directly regarding the date, but this date is correct. That is a really harsh first impression. Right?

Experiencia negativa: I don’t usually write reviews, but I feel this needs to be shared regarding my experience at Gentle Dental in Grossmont Center. I’ve been coming here for quite some time for my braces services. I had a scheduled appointment today at 9:00 a.m., but when I arrived, I was told the orthodontic department wasn’t even in and that my appointment had been rescheduled. The front desk explained that a text message had supposedly been sent notifying me of the change — however, I never received any message or notification. If a patient does not confirm a text appointment change, there should be a direct follow-up call. As a business owner myself, I know how important it is to make sure clients are properly notified when schedules change. Relying on a single unconfirmed text message is not enough when people are planning their time and travel around appointments. I also asked to speak with the person in charge, Estevan, regarding the issue. I was told to wait a few minutes, but after waiting about 5–10 minutes, no one came to address the situation. That added to the frustration, as I was hoping to resolve the matter directly and professionally. I will finish out my remaining treatment here since I’ve already started, but after that I will not be returning to this location. I would recommend that others consider a different facility. Appointment communication and accountability need improvement at this office. I don’t enjoy leaving negative reviews, but I believe situations like this should be brought to attention so they can be corrected.

Experiencia fantástica: I had the best experience I have ever had going to Gentle Dental. It was for a cleaning and check up. The brilliant Dr. Kadhem discovered from the X-ray, I had an infection at the base of an old root canal. Also, the old crown had too much space between the teeth, where food would get stuck as this was a back molar. Dr. Kadhem had me see their endodontist to do the root canal and I was on antibiotics for one week. I just got my new crown and my bite is so much improved and I feel so much better. He is a life saver! The endodontist did a superior job his name is Dr. Lakasik. Best experience getting a root canal I have ever had. Dr. Kadhem is very smart and he has a wonderful repore and you feel like he truly cares about you. In fact, whole office staff is outstanding. Way to go! Diana! Bernadene! and Josh! I love you all! You gave me a reason to smile! Never fear, Dr. Kadhem is here!

I visited them in 2024 and lost my insurance shortly after, however, their staff went above and beyond to accomodate me and made me feel like I was VIP. I almost went with another provider, but didn't. I am so glad I didn't! Give them all a raise, especially the people who set me up with Sorrento Valley appt for last minute wisdom teeth extraction when I couldn't wait until 1/16. You all rock!

Finding an open dental office with available appointments was challenging. I was so scared to try a new dentist but it was urgent. They got me in and wow. They were the sweetest, most efficient dental crew I’ve ever had. I highly recommend this dental group. They explained everything very well. Great job, Gentle Dental team!

The on-boarding questionnaire was very extensive, but understandably so for all new patients such as myself. The team did a great job and I thank them for their professional expertise.

Experiencia negativa: I sent them 2 emails to discuss this and had no response so far. Very disappointed. First, I had to fill out the pre check in forms three times as their system didn’t save the information. Then, they refused to do a regular cleaning (covered by insurance) but offered me a different treatment that was $200+. Then they said I have cavities and that my insurance don’t cover fillings, but later I found out this was false. The dentist only offered me the expensive non-covered fillings, telling me I had no other options. In the end, I left with a quote of almost $400 for a visit that was supposed to be fully covered by insurance. I went to get a second opinion and all is good! Seems like this office only wants to get money from patients, and not actually help them. I’d recommend to find some other place for your dental health.

Experiencia fantástica: brought my son here for an orthodontist appointment. We knew he had to have braces going in. They explained everything clearly and gave us the rundown of what we were expecting. I was able to accurately convey information to my spouse based upon what they told me to make a decision. Scheduling was super easy and fast. And a bonus, I don't have to take my son out of school for his next appointment!

Experiencia positiva: I wasn't told which suite to go to (they have two) so I was going between the third and fourth floors trying to find the correct place. Benefits were not verified until I arrived (I provided the information beforehand) and I only received X-rays and a quick exam when my appointment was scheduled for a routine cleaning. I have to come back another day for the cleaning because all of the hygienists went home... First time at this office and had higher hopes. At least the x-ray tech and dentist were friendly.

Experiencia fantástica: Going to the dentist office makes me nervous and is a place I would whether not be. Today the entire staff -- front desk, x-ray and chair assistant, dentist and hygienist all made me feel welcome and put me at ease with their kind words and caring manner.

Experiencia fantástica: Esteban called me to let me know the date picked for my appointment wasn't available and he was very kind. He actually got me in the day after the phone call. It was so awesome! Got to Gentle Dental, the facility was super clean. The receptionists were very kind and helpful. The xray tech didnt hurt my mouth. Usually I get a cut from the film piece they place in your mouth. She was so kind too. Then the Dentist was phenomenal. He listened and understood what I was telling him. I am very thankful for such a great experience.

Experiencia fantástica: After neglecting my dental health for several years after a horrific experience with a previous dental office, I finally went to gentle dental in grossmont for removal of my wisdom teeth that were causing me so much pain. I was extremely nervous and embarrassed… fortunately, everyone here was amazing. I was scheduled to see one of their oral surgeons, Dr. Jing who was incredible. The removal of 2 wisdom teeth was super quick and surprisingly pain free. Their assistants, one gentleman’s name is Carlos, were super kind and helped me through my nervousness. He saw that I was pretty nervous and turned on some music to help me through it. The front desk gentleman is also very nice and explained my entire dental plan in detail. The original dentist I saw, Dr. Ramon was also very kind. Not once did they say or do anything that made me feel guilty or ashamed of my current dental health. I already have a full years plan scheduled in order to bring my oral hygiene back into tip top condition. I also appreciated the fact that none of my visits have felt like a sales trap (most dental offices have felt that way in the past). Hope this helps someone who is just as anxious and terrified to go to the dentist as I was.

Experiencia fantástica: My experience was great! I came in to fix a filling that came out and ended up having to have 2 crowns. My temporary crown look very good! The staff was very attentive and knowledgeable and accommodating. Prices are great as well. For the first time in my life i walked out of a dental office very fulfilled and not stressed on how I would pay this bill! I’m very happy with Gentle Dental and will be referring as many people there as possible.

Experiencia negativa: I have not been happy with Gentle Dental lately. The filing that was placed in my tooth by them last week caused me pain and caused my face to swell. In trying to solve this issue I was rescheduled twice. Once because they had more clients then they could comfortably handle and next due to a dentist not being available. When I was finally able to be seen there were problems with the technicians taking a proper x-ray. After that a person placed a very cold device on my back teeth to see which one hurt the most! This was not enjoyable or fruitful as I was then told that I had to see a specialist upstairs for further evaluation. Finally to add insult to injury I was told that the new dentist upstairs had not yet been approved by my insurance so to see him I would have to pay full price! Finally the front desk gave me some paper work and advised me to call my insurance and ask to find a dentist to help me. I left Gentle Dental sad, disappointed and frustrated. Also I left with pain still in my back tooth and in another part of my body that proper decorum does not allow me to state! I hope I do not ever have to go back to not so Gentle Dental again!

Experiencia negativa: ⸻ I do not recommend Gentle Dental in Grossmont. They are very unprofessional. I had an appointment scheduled for a cleaning today, and when I called to confirm the time, I found out they had already canceled my appointment without notifying me. They gave excuses about the doctors having meetings and claimed they had tried to contact me, which was not true. The staff member I spoke with on the phone was rude and made no effort to accommodate me with a better appointment time. Overall, the lack of communication and professionalism was extremely disappointing. I would not recommend this office.

Experiencia fantástica: I recently had a teeth cleaning and a filling. The dental hygienist was very professional and took her time cleaning my teeth. The fillings were super fast and took less then 5 min to do. Very comfortable and east going experience.

Experiencia fantástica: I am a long time (decades!) customer of the Gentle Dental family. I just recently changed to the Grossmont office because it is right near me. My first couple of visits went very well, and I appreciate the professionalism of the staff, doctor and hygienist - explaining things to me in detail. I was also impressed by the technology of the x-rays! It has been 6 years since my last visit, so good to see technology has caught on. I have a few more appointments to get thru, but I am sure they will all go well.

Experiencia negativa: This was a sales job from the moment I sat in the chair. I went in for a routine cleaning before doing anything, the "technician" was asking for my social security number to see how much I qualified for. The amount that I was "lucky" to be responsible for was over 8K. My wife, who had an appointment in the same place at the same time, got an almost identical estimate about $20 less than mine. And they refused to do a cleaning. What a SCAM! They get one star because I can't give anything lower.

Experiencia negativa: Called to make sure they take my insurance Called my insurance too to make sure They tried to give me more than just a basic cleaning and bill me $400. “You can do a payment plan” was the response when I asked about it supposed to be free. Second time this place tries to get me when I made the mistake of telling them upfront I’m new with this whole insurance thing and didn’t know and needed help. Basically praying on the unsuspecting. Call your insurance before coming here to make sure you pay what you’re supposed to. I don’t appreciate being taken for a sucker.

Experiencia fantástica: I brought my friend, that has dementia, for a check up. Everyone was patient and kind to her. They took an hour coaxing her into cooperation only to get 2 X-rays of her teeth. A special shout out to Marcos, the X-ray tech.

Experiencia negativa: They had scheduled me for a routine cleaning that is covered by my insurance at no charge to me but when I got there they wanted to charge me over $500 for a dental cleaning. They refused to do the cleaning I was scheduled for so I walked out and will not return.

The receptionist have great customer service, all the dental assistants are awesome and Esteban is very knowledgeable with the insurances and plans… I will be recommending this group to everyone I know.

Experiencia negativa: Had appointment for check up and cleaning @3 got early @250 waited until 315 not normal but nothing too long, usually right away, tech asked why I am there I said my visit he said on file I hadn’t been there over 2 years, a little strange. Waited 35 mins (was going to walk out @45mins) tech came apologized and said he was double booked but I would get my cleaning. I said no worries. Waited until 450 walked out rescheduled with desk but I really want this place to be more professionally, efficient and accountable. Not first time had bad service in 20 years or so being a member. I can’t recommend their service nor will I be going back. It was great buying a Lyft and go there for nothing and buying a Lyft to go home.

Experiencia negativa: I had a horrible experience yesterday. I came in for a deep cleaning for 75.00, then I presented with Treatment Plan that was not discussed at my appointment a month ago. While literally in the chair, I was told my deep cleaning was unnecessary. So I was presented with 465.00 payment for new Treatment. I politely asked why I am being presented this new Plan with prior consultation, no response was given. Very unprofessional in my opinion. This the second incident I had . The first was I was unattended in room for over an hour and I left. I will never return to this office.

I have had several procedures done here and every time the process was explained to me clearly and the pricing was reasonable. I also recently got braces for my daughter here and the whole process and experience has been amazing. Special shout out to the people at the front as well because they're all super friendly and everyone there has been really easy to work with. I would recommend them and I will definitely be coming here for all my future services.
