Experiencia negativa: I had a highly frustrating experience with Chesapeake Dental Specialists due to their billing department. While the surgery team was great, professional, and competent, the financial office operates with predatory and deceptive practices. I received a treatment plan, followed it exactly, and made what was confirmed to be my final payment. Three weeks after my account was settled, the office contacted me demanding an additional $324.18. They are now attempting to retroactively reduce a discount that they originally provided and agreed to in writing on their own treatment plan. Demanding more money weeks after a final payment is unprofessional and predatory. Get every single financial agreement in writing, and double-check your statements, because this billing department will alter agreed-upon terms after the fact. I cannot recommend a business that operates with such bad faith financial practices.

I called and was greeted by an employee who shouldn’t answer the phone or was just ready to go home.She asked what insurance I had and I thought I told her correct but I didn’t when I realized I was incorrect I called and back and the phone rang multiple times until I was sent an automated message of (Thank you for calling Chesapeake Dental Specialists! Sorry we missed your call. Please text us at this number or leave a voicemail and we will contact you as soon as we can)So called back again and a young lady answered and asked the same question and I told her the correct insurance she then said they don’t accept Cigna then say wait we do accept Cigna just not out of network…She didn’t ask nothing else and I was over so I hung up because of UNPROFESSIONALISM and UNKNOWLEDGEABLE receptionist they hired at this establishment.It would be BBB I contact next and reading all these reviews.NO one wants to be a patient or get and extraction from a dentist and staff are inadequate at their job let alone not attempting to want to help with and setting up a simple appointment.I would think the dentist who hired them isn’t so big on customer service to keep a business running.Thanks but NO THANKS for the referral Dr.Martin.I understand we need to keep our money in our communities and support one another but CHEASPEAKE DENTAL,DO BETTER!!!

Experiencia negativa: I drove my son two hours to his consultation with the oral surgeon. Chesapeake Dental Specialists left us in the waiting room for forty minutes before telling me that my insurance won't cover my son's panoramic x-ray because he's already had one this year. I asked them why they didn't have his X-ray on file that was taken just a couple weeks ago. They had his referral and insurance info since the day the appointment was made so I'm confused why this is just now being brought to my attention. Isn't that the point of submitting everything to them days prior to the appointment? We arrived to our appointment nearly thirty minutes early to make sure we had everything in order and after leaving us sit in the waiting room for forty minutes, they told me they didn't have time to wait for me to call his dentist to get the panoramic x-ray sent over because we were already twenty minutes into our scheduled appointment time. I told them I would find someone else to perform the wisdom teeth extraction because my time is just as valuable as theirs is!

I was in a tremendous amount of pain this entire time. So, I finally got an appointment with Dr. Gray on October 15th. The entire office was so kind, professional and largely helpful. When Dr. Gray say my ex Ray and examined my tooth and then told me he could actually remove my tooth all In that visit, I cried. He did a beautiful job I can not find enough great things to say about his work and the professional help of his staff. I will not lose this phone number ever. Thank you Dr Gray. Experiencia fantástica: I had the opportunity to meet Endodontist Dr Ross Rosenblatt first, and his team as I was referred for root canal treatment. His team was amazing very personable, answered all my questions with detail. While I did opt for extraction over the root canal for my own personal reasons, he still treated me with grace, and referred me to Dr. Gray, I then did a consult with him the very same day (very rare). A week later I'm in the chair being prepped for extraction. Yall when I tell you I was full on anxiety but again the team made sure i was calm and had nothing to worry about. I opted for IV sedation, and was having casual conversation with them, and then what felt like 30 seconds I had gauze in my mouth and the procedure was done. I was blown away. No pain after, and even 1 day later still no pain. I would highly recommend this practice for anyone in need of a dental specialist. They are amazing from start to finish. 10/10

Experiencia negativa: While not the patient, I was the caregiver for after surgery. The communication was extremely poor, from no 48 hour instruction provided prior to not enough supplies to handle the amount of extractions, to medication not being called into pharmacy ahead of surgery, to poor written directions for the order in which medication should be taken, to poor response time even via text, to unavailability of the surgeon when medically necessary questions needed to be answered by him. Also, even though tooth return was requested, it was denied due to biohazards (OSHA directly states that this only applies to the medical professionals, and that patients may receive their teeth back upon request). Overall, while the surgery did happen successfully (despite the office trying to last minute reschedule despite my flying out to help), the professional communication skills were poor and lacking timely responses. Even the elevator ended up breaking on the day of surgery causing the patient to be escorted down stairs after general anesthesia. Luckily, no further complications resulted from this. Having had these type surgeries myself, I personally wouldn’t recommend the office due to the overall breakdown in communication, and the amount of excuses made in the lack of effort to correct the issues.

Experiencia negativa: Overcharge by a large amount. I need a root canal. They want to charge me over $300 just for a consult and X-rays that they say is not covered by my dental insurance and will not go towards the fee for the actual root canal. The root canal before insurance was over $1500. Just for reference, another endodontic office is charging me $278 for the consult, exam, and root canal. Will not be going to this office or referring anyone to this place. They are definitely over charging they’re patients!

He gave me options, but didn’t feel any of them were likely to be helpful. Note that when I made this appointment months ago I wasn’t asked what my insurance was. I gather from the bill I paid that he isn’t in network. I might not have scheduled had I known this.

Experiencia fantástica: 2 weeks ago one of my choppers started giving me issues: that's code for pain so severe you stop eating and wanna die. We were so short handed at work that I had no choice but to tough it out. Week 2 rolls around and I'm done. I contacted my dentist Tuesday and they saw me that day to see how they could help (Thank you Dr Curling and staff at Edinburgh Family Dentistry) and since my plans included implants Dr. Curling immediately referred me here. The ladies up front were able to make me an evaluation appt for Wednesday afternoon. Wednesday's evaluation was quick and to the point-we can extract them tomorrow in less than 45 minutes but implants aren't in your future. Too much bone loss and low sinuses. The folks at my evaluation were quite pleasant and knowledgeable. My procedure was the next day, today. I needed to hurry and have this done because I needed to use all of my benefits for this fiscal year. Day of appointment and my ride or die showed up on time and once they grabbed me, he was off to wait in the parking lot. My pre-op check up and diagnostics work up went well with Dr. Gray coming in just as we were all discussing our love for rescue pups. I was semi out before I knew it and done faster than it takes me to get through a Mickey D line for a smoothie (which is what I had after my appointment and what I'm having again for dinner. Dr Gray was quite knowledgeable and so skilled that while I have had teeth extracted before I have never not felt as well as I do right now. I have some pain but not the amount I have experienced before, even with just one extraction-I lost 2 today! Dr. Gray is so skilled that when he inserted my IV line that I told him of he got bored with being an oral dentist he could take up a career as a phlebotomist. My procedure was up, they kindly walked me downstairs, helped me into my husband's truck and gave us some post op instructions. 4:59 and my phone rings. It's Hayley who was with me during my evaluation appointment checking on me. I said to her "I'm so glad you called. I'm right in the middle of posting a review for my visits." (No lie, I had to stop this review to speak with her. I just wanted her to know how well I felt they treated me (both visits) and how well I am currently feeling. Should you ever need a specialized dental visit, these are the folks to see. I am still amazed at how quickly they squeezed me in and performed my extractions. Oh, I have 2 insurances and because they're a participating dental office my final balance was only $139.45. Less than $140 bucks y'all!! That doesn't even happen at the regular dentist's office!! Thank you Dr. Gray and staff for everything. *** 2nd trip to Chesapeake Dental leaves me with the knowledge that my 1st review was right on the money. Today's visit had Dr. Gray removing all of my uppers (only 11 left) for partial dentures. I am going through alot in my personal life & this visit had me more anxious than when I found out my complete 3rd degree heartblock, my incarcerated hernia or even my right lung PE. I was so nervous that it made me physically ill. I am not a worrier, except for today. I asked Dr Gray how he was feeling and told him that I said a prayer for him and his crew. Initially I had alot of pain but I am 11 hours post op and the bleeding has stopped and I have very little pain. His staff really make you feel as if they are a member of your family. Everyone is kind, gracious and caring. I couldn't recommend Dr Gray enough. And just like that last time, Keisha called after I had been home for a bit to see how I was doing. This level of care and customer service is hard to find.

I went back to Dr. Gray again on 3/27/25 for bottom wisdom teeth removal. Dr. Gray was very thorough in explaining the process and what exactly he would be doing. I was under general anesthesia for the procedure; that was uncomplicated with no side effects after. His team is just as thorough as he is, and knowledgeable of the process. I returned for a 1 week post op visit to follow up as one of my teeth required a coronectomy. The healing process has been a breeze with no pain and very minimal discomfort. I followed the post op instructions and had no problems. I would definitely recommend Dr. Gray to anyone, any day!!!!!

I am in my 50's first surgery in my life, had to get all 4 wisdom teeth pulled, was a little nervous because I had heard the horror stories! They were sincerely apologetic about the wait and made me feel comfortable right away. Dr. Gray, Mrs. Diamond, and Mrs. Katrina took the time to explain everything needed for my smile makeover. They walked me through several scenarios to make sure I fully understood the process. Even when it came time to make my payment, the receptionist went above and beyond to assist me. They calmed my nerves, and Dr. Farzad Koosha explained everything thoroughly, from diagnostics to treatment. Vicky even got me a warm blanket! She held my hand for injections and both Vicky and Dr. Koosha made sure I was comfortable throughout my procedure - highly recommended!!

Experiencia fantástica: From the Receptionist, Dental Assistant, and Dr. Gray, I have never had such a pleasant experience with any dentist. Everyone was professional, and went above and beyond to make me feel at ease before, during, and after my surgery. In my specific case, Dr. Gray performed a very tricky surgery in 5 minutes!! Literally 5 minutes, and with NO PAIN. I chose to not be sedated, so I was able to hear how precise Dr. Gray was being every step of the procedure, as he was giving constant (comforting) updates. 5 minutes for a dental surgery is as good as it gets. Thank you Dr. Gray and staff. You are my dentist now!

Experiencia fantástica: I had a tooth abscess and was referred to Chesapeake Dental Specialists. I went in for a consultation for a root canal. Because of the care and kindness that I received, I felt comfortable enough to have the procedure done on the same day. Dr. Koosha and his team did a great job providing the information I needed and addressing any concerns I may have had before the procedure. Everyone that I met was kind and patient. Most of my time was spent with his assistant Vickie. She took good care of me from the beginning to the end of my visit. She even held my hands during the worst of the procedure. The hardest part for me is always the needles during the numbing process. The procedure went well with no discomfort or problems. Dr. Koosha was so nice and caring. He was very attentive and checked on me constantly as he did the root canal. Thank you Dr. Koosha to you and your team for your excellent care.

Experiencia fantástica: I personally wasn’t a patient of Dr. Gray, he gave my significant other & I major relief!! I was in panic mode looking for an emergency oral surgeon.. She had a back tooth that needed to be removed ASAP & did I mention her face had badly swollen overnight!! With no sleep the night before I was up early searching the Internet for help I called a dentist in Norfolk, I didn’t feel the urgency in the receptionist!! Then I called Chesapeake Dental Specialist & spoke to the nicest lady ever… Mrs. J she made me feel comfortable & like we was definitely gonna get helped so I made the appointment & she sent all the necessary paperwork to pre-fill out to make the visit smooth which it was… When we got there the rest of the staff was just as helpful!! Dr. Gray & his team went over & beyond the help us!!! “Godsent” This was by far the best emergency experience ever!!

Experiencia negativa: In March of this year I had three teeth pulled and the day of I had to pay my portion of the bill, which I did. In July I received my Explanation of Benefits from my insurance company that shows that my patient responsibility was almost 50% less than what I paid on the day of my service. When I reached out to them the first time, the lady in billing said she saw that I had a credit on my account and they would refund me that amount. When I received the refund in my account it was much less than what it should have been. Since then I have been trying to get someone in the billing department to return my phone call but no one ever seems to be able to return my call. I have left numerous messages and when I do get someone on the phone they tell me that everyone in billing is on the phone and they will call me back. I have never received a return phone call. It has been over a month and I still cannot get a resolution to this issue because they still owe me money. They had no issue taking my money, but when I need to get a refund they seem to have a problem with that. This is the worst experience I have ever had trying to get my money back and when this is resolved I will never go to this office again. If I could give zero stars I would.

Experiencia negativa: Did not have a good feel for the doctor. Considering I need surgery, I’d like to feel that the doctor cares about me. I understand these procedures become a routine for them, but it’s another experience as a patient. You are busy, I understand, but this is my scheduled appointment time so your focus should be directed at me for this 45 minute block. If you couldn’t even look me in the face while I’m expressing concerns over my upcoming surgery, why bother having me come in at all? The staff was amazing. I expected more from Dr Gray. Especially seeing the photos of him posing here in Google reviews. I’m debating having the surgery here or somewhere else entirely. Considering I’ll be paying out of pocket regardless, I’d at least like go where I know the doctor gives a damn

My wisdoms teeth removal was smooth with little pain (2/10). I called when I had questions and they were more than happy to schedule me a quick follow up visit to check on me. 10/10 service.

Experiencia negativa: Was sent for a one-time eval to see if I needed a crown or a root canal. Dr. Koosha’s verbal recommendation was difficult to understand. I don’t even know if he knew what to recommend when I came in. Took his office over a month to get Dr. Koosha’s notes back to my general dentist and I had to call multiple times until they finally asked me, “What note does your dentist need?” Um…The one from Dr. Koosha that tells my dentist what I need?? 6 weeks later I go in for the crown recommended by Dr. Koosha and was told placing a filling would suffice. Front desk staff was not friendly. Dental assistant was the nicest person I encountered in the office. As someone with a healthcare background, this is not a practice I would recommend.

Experiencia fantástica: My problems started on Christmas Eve at my Family Christmas dinner. I felt something hard when I was eating. Unfortunately a crown had broken and came off. My dentist was closed for the holidays but agreed to see me after Christmas day. The tooth would now need a root canal and new crown and I needed to see an Endodontist quickly. My Dentist office called the Chesapeake Dental Specialists, and they said we can take you now, can you come tomorrow on Thursday 28th of December?? I came to my appointment and was greeted by the most wonderful front desk staff. Then I was welcomed to the back to meet my Doctor, Dr.Koosha. So plesant and friendly!. He looked at my xrays, sent over by my dentist, and then did an oral exam of my mouth and problem tooth. After checking the paperwork that I filled out for this practice, he calmly and thoroughly explained what needed to be done , and to save my tooth. After I was informed, he said He could do the procedure while I was there. I agreed and was so grateful for his offer. When ready to start, I was escorted back to another comfortable room, and prepared with numbing agents. The root canal was lenthgy but manageable, and Dr Koosha was always concerned and asking me if I was ok? Through the entire time, he was wonderful and ALWAYS concerened for my well being. I give his Dental Assistant, Otelia, Kudos also. She knew exactly what he needed before he asked. Poor Otelia even skipped lunch so that I could complete this root canal. She was so sweet and willing to help with what ever was needed. DR. Koosha is fantastic and I would recommend his services to everyone that needs his expertise and care. Even when leaving I was escorted out with an actual lip care item for my dry chapped lips. Thank you Chesapeake Dental Specialists and Dental Assistants, and front office staff!
