Experiencia fantástica: I highly recommend this practice! My daughter is just over two, and we recently visited for the second time. I was fully expecting a meltdown, as she can be a bit apprehensive in new environments, but I couldn’t have been more pleased that this wasn’t the case. From the decor and toys to the staff, everything was thoughtfully organized to ensure a smooth experience. Dr. Ball also took the time to answer our questions and address our concerns. We never felt rushed and truly felt comfortable throughout the visit.

If you want a provider who creates an individualized treatment plan that is in the best interest of your child, then you found her. After being told my child would need general surgery for dental care and a tooth extraction without attempting any other treatments, I knew I had to seek out a 2nd opinion and then we found Dr. Ball. We knew before the first appointment that they needed to evaluate my child's willingness to cooperate during procedures for the patient's safety and their safety too. Which is completely understandable and appreciated. Everyone is always so welcoming, the office is extremely clean and we never have to wait. When you walk in you're the only one in the waiting room, which is an incredible experience. Dr. Ball is passionate about providing exceptional care to her patients and she is consistently calm, caring, respectful, and patient. She is very thorough and the exams are never rushed. We trust her and my child adores her too. And the sugar free lollipops and prizes are a huge hit as well!

She brings a spirit of joy and genuine presence to every encounter -- from educating little ones on dental hygiene to repairing chipped teeth. Her thoughtful and intentional approach is reflected in her entire staff, who are cheery, informative, and energetic in the execution of every job. This can be a hard age for providing services, but Dr. Ball sees the big picture in serving each child and it influences every smile and conversation. She understands that she is building trust. Her counsel on certain interventions is so far-sighted that one recommendation will still be helping one of my three children years from now (and saving us money!). She is truly gifted in what she does!

Experiencia fantástica: Update: My three kids have been seeing Dr. Ball for over two years now and we continue to be grateful for her excellent care. We have seen other three other dentists due to family moves, but Dr. Ball is the best! I continue to be so impressed with the special touch that Dr. Ball has with each of my kids. I have one child with an aversion to dental work and x-rays and each member of the staff work to put him at ease. Another child damaged a tooth pretty severely and Dr. Ball managed to put it back together beautifully all while putting my son (and me) at ease with her calm manner and clear explanations of each step of the process. We have had normal check ups, fillings, and major chips worked on and everything has gone perfectly. The office is beautiful, clean, and well cared for and the staff goes above and beyond to make the kids feel special and known. What a lovely place! I wish I had a dental office like this as a kiddo. You won't regret seeing Dr. Ball. It is a great practice! Wonderful staff and great practice! My kids asked when they get to go back. :)

Experiencia fantástica: My 4 year old absolutely LOVES going to see Dr. Ball - he even asks to go to the dentist when he doesn't have an appointment! We are always greeted with a friendly smile and never wait long, to my son's dismay because he loves watching movies in the waiting area and playing with all the books and toys!! Dr. Ball and her team are very caring, patient, educational, nonjudgemental, and efficient. I can't wait to start bringing my two month old when it is his turn!

My daughter just had her first dental appointment and I already scheduled her 6 month follow-up. I am in the dental industry and there is no pediatric dentist in the area I trust more than Dr. Ball. She’s THE BEST! Review from our appointment on 12/19/24: My daughter is not even 2.5 years old and she just had her third dental exam with Dr. Ball. My husband accompanied us to the appointment since he was off work. He was astonished by how calm and receptive our daughter was to Dr. Ball. The “Terrible Twos” are REAL but Dr. Ball has the most calming demeanor with children…she is like MAGIC. Our daughter arrived a bit grumpy but got up on the patient chair and allowed Dr. Ball to scale the plaque off her bottom teeth, polish her teeth with prophy paste and do a fluoride treatment! I cannot recommend Dr. Ball enough (and I do, OFTEN!!) She is truly a remarkable woman and pediatric dentist… humble, kind and someone who children intrinsically trust.

Experiencia fantástica: Update 12/30/24: Dr. Ball has built an amazing rapport with my now-9 yo daughter over the years. She remembers small details about my daughter's past experiences and her sensory preferences; she has used this knowledge to grow my daughter's tolerance/confidence/capability to do procedures beyond cleaning over time. What a good journey. Meanwhile, my other daughter is UPSET when she is not invited to come to the dentist too! Dr. Ball has really worked to build her up as well. So glad we have her for our kid's dental care !! 2022- Wow! That's what I have to say about Dr. Ball and her team after several visits with my sensitive 6 year old and one visit for our toddler. Dr. Ball and her team have really gone the extra mile to work with my daughter - providing excellent care and treatment even though she has not been an easy patient (lots of sensitivities and minor trauma from previous dental experience at another local provider ). My daughter and I really appreciate how gentle, communicative, and empowering Dr. Ball and team are. We love Krista at the front desk and now we've met Hygienist Kayla, who also did such a lovely job working with my daughter. We are starting to look forward to going to the dentist now and so hopeful to build a better experience for our toddler.

Experiencia negativa: This review is for Bana Ball. I meant to write this review long time ago but never got the chance. I had the worst experience that any mom with a young child who is attending their child’s first dentist appointment would have with this dentist. She could not handle my toddler who was crying hysterically. She was struggling to get my son’s teeth cleaned. She is a pediatric dentist so she should know how to do her job under these circumstances. Toddlers are afraid of dentists especially if it’s their 1st appointment. She became rude and judgmental and after torturing my son she said that all his back teeth, top and bottom have cavities and said that the only treatment would be to put him under general Anesthesia. I asked if there is any other alternative. She said there is none. She was not even sincere. I left the office crying. I called another dentist for a second opinion. And what a difference. This dentist was patient, understanding and very professional. My son did cry as expected but this dentist was super patient and made both me and him comfortable. After examining my son, she said that he has only two cavities. She recommended applying a treatment to prevent the cavity from getting worse. His 2 cavities are under control and my son is their patient since then. He is 4 years old now and he loves his dentist. Dr Ball if you can not do your job when a toddler is too afraid to open his or her mouth, just be honest and say you can not do it and let another dentist handle it. And don’t say there is no other alternative even if you believe it’s not the right treatment because parents make the decision for their child not you.

Experiencia fantástica: I am unaccustomed to writing reviews because most of the interactions I have with daily experiences are,..well....normal. I am writing this review because of the life changing effect she has had on particularly my 9 year old granddaughter. I have 3 grandchildren that are treated by Dr. Ball. A wonderful slightly on the spectrum 6 y.o., a 5 year old with missing adult teeth, and a 9 year old with missing adult teeth and underdeveloped mouth. They have been seeing Dr Ball for about 3 years. Her patience and caring manner won over my apprehensive ( and sometimes active) grandchildren. Getting to my 9 y.o story. Dr. Ball is aware of the medical history of each child. My granddaughter had blouting and stomach issues since she was a little girl. Children"s Hospital had done gluten tests ( all negative) and their GI department had monitored her stomach issues with no clear effective treatment or resolution. When my granddaughter's front teeth came in they were discolored. Dr. Ball called the parents, who relayed to me, that there are a few reported cases in the literature that talk about discolored teeth and negative testing for Celiac or gluten. She counseled us that in spite of the testing being negative, it might be beneficial to limit my granddaughter's gluten intake. We immediately began to change her eating habits to gluten free. The results were dramatic and life changing. The pain and belly bloating are gone. Her body has noticeably slimmed while maintaining the same weight. My point is this. Not only does Dr. Ball deliver superb dental care that puts young children at ease, she takes x rays and notes dental anomalies, and refers to superb orthodontist when time is correct, but she cares enough about her patients ( our children) to take the extra time to use her knowledge to make their life better. Thank you, Dr. Ball!!!

They explained everything they were doing with her , let her feel the tools so she would be scared of it, and even had bluey on the ceiling so the kids can see when they lean back in the chair. Experiencia fantástica: Wow is an understatement. Dr. Ball and her team are all amazing. As soon as you schedule the first appointment, they are kind knowledgeable and transparent about the process. My one year old had developed some decay on her front teeth from breastfeeding and me not properly brushing her teeth. We're first time parents so it was a mistake and we felt horrible. We went a local dentist and they wanted to put her under and remove her front teeth. Thankfully, the anesthesiologist said no to general anesthesia and we were referred to Dr. Ball. She laid out all the options and got to work. Long story short, she was able to stop the decay and do smart fillings on the teeth to cover up the decoloration and ensure no further decay. My daughter teeth are looking back to normal and thriving. She has no pain. Dr. Ball and her team are the best there is!!!!!!!!

After a traumatizing experience for my 4 year old daughter at our family dentist practice, being welcomed into the kind, gentle, and kid-centered environment here was such a breath of fresh air. Each staff member went out of their way to make my daughter feel comfortable and it made a world of difference in her experience here. Instead of fearing the dentist and all procedures involved from x-rays to cleaning, she now has a completely new happy outlook on visiting the dentist, which allows her to do them with Dr. Ball's staff with no problem! I am so incredibly grateful to Dr. Ball and her staff here for making my daughter's first experience such a positive one, and can now look forward to (rather than dreading) future visits with her and our other girls here.

The office is pristine, with a waiting room that is so welcoming for kids. We received such 1-1 care from Dr. Ball, who came into the lobby to introduce herself and get to know our kids before jumping right into business. It made them feel very comfortable and welcomed. Dr. Ball’s patient rooms are perfect for young kids, with TVs on the ceiling to keep them calm. She took a great amount of time with each our kids, providing tips to us as parents on how to best care for little teeth. We appreciated her judicious approach to care, not pushing x-rays or anything unnecessary. On the way out, our kids got to pick from a beautiful selection of take-home toys. Overall, a fantastic experience. We are so happy to have found Shady Grove Pediatric Dentistry!!

Experiencia fantástica: I cannot sing their praises enough! I have an extremely anxious toddler, and we’ve been seeing Dr. Ball since she was a baby. I am truly grateful for and appreciative of the compassion, patience, professionalism and kindness with which my child and my family have been treated. Despite intense crying, fear and clinginess, I never felt like my child was a burden or an inconvenience (unlike in other medical offices, including two pediatricians), and Dr. Ball was able to calm the child enough to complete the evaluation and procedure. The front desk staff is also lovely and well-organized. Many offices carry the “pediatric” label, but very few actually deserve it – making every effort to minimize a child’s suffering, stress and inconvenience, and being truly child-centered is at the heart of it. We look forward to returning, and we hope to have a long and productive relationship with Dr. Ball!

Experiencia fantástica: My daughter had multiple cavities. She had a difficult time with other dentists. We found Dr. Ball and she has been the perfect dentist for my daughter. She alleviated her fears and took care of her teeth quickly and skillfully. We are so happy that we found this practice!

Experiencia negativa: Look elsewhere if you're looking for a dentist who is professional and has flexibility with your child's dental care plan. I'm very disappointed with how Dr. Ball handled our request to delay my 5 y.o. x-rays until he's a little older. While we respect her decision to not treat my child, it could've been handled a lot more professionally. She berated my husband in front of our child essentially giving an ultimatum that she won't treat our kid unless we agree to x-rays. My husband and I make a conscious effort to not argue in front of our child and Dr. Ball did the complete opposite. Worse is when we requested to have his school dental form filled out, she gave a negative assessment on our son's dental health (again because of the x-rays), when our child has no cavities, no oral concerns, and has excellent oral hygiene (she knows this as she's been seeing my kid for years). As parents who are already juggling so many things, I'd appreciate a dentist who does not delay our kid's enrollment because of non-existent dental "issues". More importantly, a dentist who supports our personal decisions or professional about it when they don't.

Experiencia fantástica: We absolutely adore Dr. Ball and her team! We came to Dr. Ball for a second opinion for our toddler’s teeth. The second we walked into the office we could tell the office is child friendly and orientated. There are books, puzzles, a play kitchen, and a TV playing kid friendly movies/shows. During the exam, Dr. Ball was so patient and kind with our very frightened 2 year old. She worked quickly but was very thorough with her exam as well. We appreciate being able to hear her thought process as she explained her long term care plan for our daughter’s teeth. We’ve been back 3 times this year so far and our daughter asks about Dr. Ball all the time. It was also very easy to communicate with the team to figure out our insurance and to schedule appointments. As a healthcare providers myself, it is easy to tell Dr. Ball’s office and team are dedicated, passionate, and so thoughtful about the care they provide to their patients.

They truly focus on the child to ensure that they are having a good experience while non judgmentally answering all of my questions. Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Ball and everyone who works at Shady Grove Pediatric Dentistry are my pediatric dental sheros!!! I have three children-two of them are 5 year old twins. I dreaded the twins first dental appointment. They are exponentially difficult when it comes to tooth care. Their first appointment with Shady Grove Pediatric Dentistry was unbelievably wonderful. As I expect most parents feel after joining this practice, I would love to be Dr. Ball’s patient as well. The exams went perfectly for all three of my children. Everything went so great that the kids cheered when I informed them about their next appointment. When my daughter recently experienced some funky tooth and gum issues they saw her immediately. If it is possible to be ‘in love’ with a dental office then I am in love with this one. Everyone, from the reception to the nurses to Dr. Ball, goes above and beyond caring for the kids and parents alike. I am so grateful for this practice and making my children’s dental experiences great ones. Sadly I can only leave 5 stars as they deserve far more!

For example, today my daughter had two (planned) fillings and one extraction. I was extremely nervous about how she was going to take the extraction portion, but Dr. Ball worded everything in the most developmentally-appropriate way and my daughter felt nothing! She was completely surprised that her tooth had come out during the procedure, and let me tell you that thing was stuck. Dr. Ball even texted tonight to check on her. This practice really is the best of the best and you won’t regret sending your kids here.

Experiencia fantástica: Our family loves Dr. Ball and her team! My kids beg me to take them to the dentist in between appointments. They tell me they love going to the dentist. When I remind them of their upcoming appointments, they will ask me every day until the day of the appointment - you’d think they are going to Disney World. Dr. Ball takes her time with each of her patients, makes them feel important, and walks parents through each stage of their dental health. Dr. Ball used to practice in Baltimore and we followed her to Rockville! Yes, we happily drive out to Rockville from Baltimore to see her every 6 months.

Experiencia fantástica: First of all, I would like to say that it has been a long journey looking for a Dentist for my son, we tried a multiple Dentists in the area, bases on reviews, but our son didn't feel comfortable with them maybe our expectations were different, also because my son had bad experiences during his treatments with another dentists. Recently, we found Dr. Bana Ball, and visit exceed our expectations because the she took the time and treated our son and myself with so much care, love and respect and made us feel so comfortable to the point that he is so happy to have appointments at the Dentist, specially after he had all his treatments done by Dr. Ball, he was not afraid anymore. My heart was so happy when he finished his appointment and told me in the car "mom, this is the first time that I have a smile in my face after a dentist appointment". The staff members are wonderful and their professionalism is outstanding. We are so glad to have found Dr. Ball. Our son will be her patient for many years to come!!!!

Her office is pristine, modern and welcoming. Staff members are warm and professional. Dr. Ball is so kind, down-to-earth, and a brilliant practitioner, and her approach to dentistry is sensible and yet dynamic. My son had baby teeth pulled (unavoidable), and my daughter had a spacer inserted, and both procedures by Dr. Ball were flawless and so easy - my children couldn't even believe it. They love going to their dentist appointments. Look no further - Dr. Ball is a star.

I had held off because my child did not take well to doctors when he was 2 but when I saw his fears slowly go away at his primary care office, I decided it was time to get him to the dentist and I’m so glad I did. My experience from the minute we entered the practice to us leaving was nothing but positive. The check in process was easy, the cleaning was easy and they even had an extensive gift section at the end for my child to pick! I was so impressed! They have a great waiting area for kids and my son is particularly fond of the prize cart. He recently had to have his front tooth extracted following an accidental fall from his bed. Dr. Ball made both me and my son very comfortable about the procedure and it was performed seamlessly, he didn’t even flinch! Would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a great pediatric dentist!

The waiting room is amazing, not that we ever wait long enough to sit or read :) The little door to walk through, the prize cart, the TVs over the chairs, the chalkboard with kids’ names written in welcome and all the yummy polish and fluoride flavors complement the thoughtful and thorough care provided. My kids (5, 8 and 10) look forward to going to the dentist and constantly ask when their next appointment is. I would like to highlight our visit today. My daughter, 10, had to have two teeth pulled to make room for her permanent teeth to drop down. She was very nervous about the procedure, especially the novocaine. Dr Ball was patient and allowed my daughter time to come to grips with the needle situation (major needle phobia here). She was even and firm enough, yet gentle and supportive, and didn’t let the situation escalate. I would hands down recommend this practice, without reservation.

Experiencia negativa: Black people, autistic parents-take caution! We were rudely dumped by Dr. Ball because she doesn't do sedation dentistry after 3 years of care. If you look on her website, not ONE black child so it all makes sense. Instead of saying come back to me for xyz, she said through her rep "Nay", find another dentist? I guess she doesn't want "certain" kids in her presence. I said what I said.

My child was extremely scared of the dentist at first, but Dr Ball came up with a plan to slowly ease my child back into it. My child is now excited to go to see Dr Ball and her team, and I see a night and day difference from where we started. I’m very thankful for the progress we’ve made, and would highly recommend Shady Grove Pediatric!

Experiencia fantástica: I moved my young child (3.5-yr) to Dr.Ball's practice after hearing good things from a family member. We had a great first appointment. Everyone in the practice was attentive and full of information. The whole visit was like a spa day for the little one because they thought of everything to make children comfortable and welcome. On a separate note, the practice is neurodivergent-friendly, which you can see from their intake forms and their experience and knowledge. I was super happy leaving the visit and will be moving my older child to this practice as well.

She has a minimalist approach and excellent discretion for dental health and is a natural at comforting children (and parents!), working swiftly and thoroughly, and being a genuinely amazing person. Her office is very clean and organized. I never thought my daughter who was absolutely terrified of the dentist would actually look forward to going, but thanks to Dr. Ball and all her amazing staff, it’s a breeze. Dr. Ball and Kayla (who did the cleaning) were so kind and welcoming, and put our daughter right at ease. They also took the time to answer all of our questions, and flagged a few issues that we’d be able to monitor over time. We expected to have a good visit based on the glowing reviews on here, but Dr. Ball and her team managed to surpass even those lofty expectations. Our daughter asked if she could go to see Dr. Ball again tomorrow, which pretty much says it all!

Experiencia fantástica: Took my daughter to there for her 1-year dental appointment. Very nice place, almost zero waiting time, I like their no paper policy, make everything simple and easy. Everyone was just so kind to my baby, they don’t rush to have things done, instead gave her enough time to relax and try to make her happy. Would definitely recommend this place to my friends. Also I want to say Dr. Bana has a very beautiful voice and she sang a lullaby that calmed my daughter down.

Experiencia fantástica: We went to Shady Grove Pediatric Dentistry to get a second opinion on how to handle a cavity. Dr. Ball sat down with us and really listened to what was going on. She took new images and came up with a more customized and innovative treatment plan that was not offered elsewhere (e.g, Silver Diamine Fluoride and SMART filings). Her facilities are wonderful and clean and we are so glad to have found Dr. Ball!

Experiencia fantástica: There are so many amazing things to say about this practice that I'm not sure where to begin! First, you can stop searching for a pediatric dentist and just call Dr. Ball's office to make your first appointment! You won't regret it. My children first saw Dr. Ball in August of 2021. I chose her practice based on their COVID policies as one of my children is high risk and has a congenital heart defect. My first interaction was with the AMAZING and KIND Krista. I asked her a million questions about their safety protocols and she explained every detail to me to ease my mind. I explained our situation regarding my 11 year old son and his health issues that caused him to be high risk and she eased all my fears. She also made sure that the staff was aware that my son was apprehensive about the appointment due to his fears of contracting COVID. They could not have been nicer or more understanding. At our first appointment, Krista greeted us with smiles, a temperature check, and hand sanitizer! During their cleanings, the hygienist explained everything to the kids and answered all the questions my son had. I was very concerned that my son would have cavities due to not seeing a dentist during the pandemic and as he had issues when he was younger with getting cavities very easily. To my surprise he was cavity free, BUT my youngest (age 6) had several issues. I was nervous because we had not had any issues with her teeth in the past. Dr. Ball calmed my fears and as a mom herself knew this was stressful for me and reassured me that they would provide the best and most gentle care to my daughter. After the visit, I realized that Dr. Ball's office was out of network and even though I LOVED the practice I decided to go to another dentist to see what the cost would be for the treatment for in network. BIGGEST MISTAKE ever. I left that dentist office in tears due to how they treated my daughter and did not follow COVID protocol at all. I called Krista at Dr. Ball's office the following day and told her that no matter what the cost would be we wanted to come back to their practice as we knew Dr. Ball would give our daughter the best gentle and non invasive care possible. They welcomed us back with open arms! Krista then explained every detail of our insurance plan and if there was ever something that was not covered, their office would work with us. My daughter just finished her second procedure this morning and did great. You know the dentist is amazing when the child wants to go to sleep early the night before so it will hurry up and be time to go see Dr. Ball! Another thing you will quickly notice about the staff is that they are a team and they work well together which is felt by the patients and families. Dr. Ball is very passionate about making the dental experience as pleasant, calm, and fun as it can be! As another google review said, the only thing I would change is that if Dr. Ball could also be my dentist! If I could give this practice 10 stars I would :)

Experiencia fantástica: This past Saturday, my 3 year old son got hit in the mouth with a swing, resulting in the fracturing of two of his upper front teeth. My husband and I reached out to at least 30 pediatric practices to see if they could attend to him considering this was an emergency. Only two dentist got back to us and even after viewing the photos we took of his mouth, told us we had to wait until Monday in order for them to see him. We contacted Dr. Ball's emergency answering machine at around 10p that night. The next day we were so desperate we ended up taking him to the ER. While waiting to see a doctor I received a text from Dr. Ball. At first I was hesitant to return her text assuming she would tell us she wouldn't have availability until Monday but I figured we had nothing to lose since the ER didn't have a pediatric dentist on call. So I reached out and after asking a few questions and looking at the photos of his injury, she said that he would need to get his teeth extracted immediately. Dr. Ball and her assistant offered to come in on a Sunday and perform the procedure. Because we were out of network, Dr. Ball worked with us to come up with a price that was more than reasonable. My son and I arrived at her office a little after 10am and we were in and out in less than an hour. I can't tell you how grateful I am to have found someone so compassionate and truly gifted at what she does. Not only is Dr. Ball an excellent dentist she is an even more exceptional human being. The next day I switched insurance companies so that my son's future visits would be covered under her. My only complaint is that I wish she did adult patients as well.

Our smallest daughter is special needs and we were dreading the visit because she can be extremely uncooperative. They were so sweet and patient— consummate professionals and knowledgeable. The overall experience was terrific. When I was younger I remember hating the dentist office. It was nothing like this place. The doctors were not personable, patient, or caring. The experience left such a deep-seated fear and trauma that I still carry today. I can confidently say if we continue taking our girls to this office, which we will, they will not suffer from the same negative stigmas that so many of our generation have carried with us about dentistry. They will love it. That’s important.

Experiencia fantástica: I brought my 4 years old to Shady Grove Pediatrics Dentistry for her fist dental appointment. I was nervous on how this visit was going to go but it went way better then expected . When we in the receptionist was very welcoming and my daughter was instantly comfortable. When we went to the back Dr Ball and her assistant were so nice and my child let them clean her teeth and floss. She left her appointment very excited about her teeth and is actually excited to brush and floss all the time. She's ready for her next appointment. I was very pleased with the whole visit from start to finish.

They are extremely COVID safe, which was reassuring since my little dude is still too young for a vaccine and would be mask less during his checkup. Everyone in the office was warm, kind, and didn't rush us. The whole office also treated him like an actual person with thoughts and feelings of his own, which doesn't seem to happen often with this age (2.5 years). My son absolutely loved his first visit to the dentist! This was the first medical appointment where I'd ever had a Doctor refence things I had put in the forms they had you fill out, I wish Dr. Ball could teach this skill to every Doctor! I also didn't have to re-fill out any forms when I got there which was super nice to not have to juggle all the things while also filling out forms. All in all, an amazing team and we are looking forward to coming back time and again.

At her practice, Dr. Ball truly puts children front and center. Everything about her office is intentionally designed to make a child’s dental visit a positive and fun experience. It was my daughter’s first dental visit, and it could not have gone better. We were worried because pediatrician visits are such a nightmare! So many tears involved. My daughter is so shy, but Dr. Ball worked her magic, and before we knew it, they were singing Frozen together! She truly takes the time to get to know her patients. Definitely no rushed feeling and social distancing is taken seriously. We will definitely be back, even with our long commute from Baltimore!
