Experiencia fantástica: Honestly, I was dreading my recent appointment which involved addressing a cavity under a crown on the right upper side of my mouth. I had previously experiences with removing and replacing crowns and they were very uncomfortable. However, I am pleased to say that this procedure was amazingly painless and efficient, and although not pleasant, it was done way better than I could have imagined. My hats off to Dr. Malekan for excellent work.

Experiencia negativa: In all my 50 years on this planet I’ve been accustomed to finding out a bit of not so bad news of gum recession, to a cavity or on the more extreme side a root canal. But today, I was told I have 10 teeth that are infected and need to be pulled & pretty much that’s it except that he’s sending me to an oral surgeon. Besides the lack of empathy, and maybe even some explanation of the root of how I got to this point!! There was no inquiry into anything about my diet or what I should or need to abstain from eating . I mention I was in pain and nothing was offered or asked if I thought I needed anything to get by especially when the oral doctor is known to be booked out for up to a month. I would’ve thought the doctor would at least ask what my oral hygiene regimen consisted of was & if I was doing anything to keep more teeth from being infected. It blows my mind that my doctor, whom I imagine wanted to be a doctor to help people, when giving a client, in my case the most shocking and biggest health related bad news of my life so far, absolutely no genuine help understanding of how it got this bad so quickly, no inquiry of when my root canals that had no caps were done, no questions to me on what I’ve been doing, and most of all no helpful things I should be doing everyday starting right away. Jeez’s going back to even when I remember being told my gums were receding I remember being given all sorts of questions about what I use product wise, what I consume that might be contributing to my issue then a bunch of recommendations of products that could help along with some dietary changes that could help slow down & possibly turn around the issue at hand. Then most dentists will let you know or give some sort of encouragement that “You’ll be okay, you can still turn things around…..” or something to that effect but here in my case not a single thing at all. Stellar!!!! I got to say your doctor has a real stellar way of dropping the worst health related news of a lifetime and showing no empathy, advice, pain management, game plan timeline outlook, no encouragement and one of the biggest question I had later once I got home was how am I supposed to eat with 10 teeth pulled . Or if I can’t afford implants why would I have 10 teeth pulled and not be able to eat food anymore no explanation if I do nothing thinking I would rather be able to eat what I could expect from that decision or if I did what they recommended what I could expect from that course of action. But nope, I got nothing but more questions and a doctor that could use a real good inward look on why he wanted to be in the field that he is in.

She also scheduled me with a specialist the next day in case my pain did not get better - I ended up cancelling because it totally improved in the next 24 hours. He was really kind, explained things well, gave options, and he was gentle. My daughter also had a light cleaning, and her dental hygienist was really nice, and didn’t cause any pain.

Experiencia negativa: I had 3 very weird experiences at this office, I would have gone somewhere else but I wanted to get my fillings finished. The first two times I went I saw Dr. Jilbert for fillings. When he asked how I was the hygienist told him I mentioned I was still waking up and he said “I’ll give you something to wake you up” and gave me a very painful numbing shot that I ended up having a reaction to because of the epinephrine. I came back to do the other side a week later and made sure to tell everyone I had a reaction so they ensured me they’d use something else for the numbing. They mentioned Dr. Jilbert was running late and would be there shortly. I sat in the chair for 40 minutes and ended up asking to leave. When I went back again for the fillings I saw Dr. Malekan who was a lot friendlier that Dr. Jilbert and she explained why I had such a bad reaction and what she was using instead. My jaw locked up but she was very helpful and made sure I was feeling ok. However she started the fillings and another patient came in to the room next to me that it seemed like she knew so mid filling she stopped working on me and went over to the other patient. I waited for 20+ minutes while she was catching up with another patient and offered to work on her while I was waiting to finish the fillings when it would have been finished in the time she was speaking to the other patient. It was all very odd and unpleasant. I a will definitely not be returning.

Having experienced Denti-Cal providers in my youth who had done some damage, I was very prejudice. However, I could not be more wrong! Dr. Puri is a USC trained dentist and is the kindness most considerate man. Plus, he has the best staff who are super kind and professional! If you have Denti-Cal, run don’t walk to this dental group!

The 40 min from SB was totally worth it, would recommend. Good table side manners, attentive, and considerate to my wellbeing. There was a male worker there who I did hear use swear words on the office phone, no biggie, just somewhat unprofessional for a dentists office. It was more so amusing to hear something so out of place hahaha. Still, it was a 5 star experience and I’ll be returning if I’m in the area and I need dental work done.

Experiencia negativa: ⚠️I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND Dr Jilbert ⚠️ ⚠️ Front desk person was fine, but the Dr and the rest of the staff gave me the feeling of not feeling very comfortable, like not to fully trust them... the Dr came and very quickly check the x-ray and say it needs to be an extraction (i knew i need it a root canal from prior dentist) but he insisted that it has to be extraction and the insurance will only cover that but not the replacement, and he went over on prices and insisted multiple times on doing the extraction right at the moment, and after the girl was done with the cleaning again he came and said I was gonna walk out today with the 1 extraction, I said no and he asked why , I said I wanted on a different day and morning and needed more time ... so his attitude changed he got kinda mad, and I asked for pain medication and antibiotics cuz I had an infection... he only wanna to give me ibuprofen. I said it is not helping. I need something stronger.. so, like in a bad mood, he said he was gonna senditto the pharmacy. And they sent the request to my insurance for the extraction even when I didn't agree on it. So I got the letter from my insurance saying the procedure was denied cuz it needs a different procedure before... So I went to a different place different Dr and already had my root canal and crown. My recent visits have been nothing but positive. Dr. Puri is not only very skilled, but also interacts with his staff and patients with remarkable kindness and respect. Please see my previous review below from my initial visit. *The timing for a dental emergency couldn't be worse than Dec 23, but Dr Puri made time for me Dec 24. The procedure = extraction (in peices /required bone graft). He calmly and methodically took care of what needed to get done. So relieved to have that over with and look forward to start the restorative process here with my new dentist.
