1 month ago Experiencia negativa: I had to change my review. I've had some issues with scheduling appointments with this office to the point where I haven't been back to get my dental work finished. I feel like they have to many people scheduling and don't know how to own up when their wrong.

3 months ago Experiencia negativa: I arrived for my 4pm appointment early. I waited until 4 but noticed people walking in after me being called before me. Its nw 4:15. I went to the receptionist and informed her that everyone was being called in but me and I have a 4:00 appointment. The receptionist checked to see if I was checked in and she noticed that I was. She immediately called me to the back and set me up for the dentist. No one came in to me until 4:45. She didnt see me, she just set everything up for the procedure and informed me the dentist would be right in but they have to wait for the machine to stop to do my ex rays, (whatever that means.) Meanwhile, they brought another patient in who was attended to immediately, on the spot. I am still waiting for the dentist to come see about me. Its now 4:52. I left. They didn't even call to inquire about why I left. I'm never coming back. Very poor service.

4 months ago Experiencia negativa: I haven’t even stepped foot in this office yet, which honestly makes this more frustrating. Based on the reviews, I was expecting a much smoother experience, but their scheduling system seems completely disorganized. It doesn’t appear that there’s one centralized place handling appointments, and as a result, my appointment was given away to someone else the morning of. This was extremely inconvenient, especially as a law student with a tight schedule. It’s disappointing that I didn’t even get the chance to experience the service itself because of preventable administrative issues. I hope they can improve their scheduling process so others don’t have the same experience.

4 months ago Experiencia negativa: Very disappointing experience at Nova Dental Newark. I came to my appointment after taking time out of my day to travel there, only to be treated very rudely by the receptionist. She the dark skin young lady with the black and brown hair claimed someone told me not to come, which was completely untrue, and instead of helping resolve the issue she became dismissive and basically told me not to come back. It felt like a complete waste of my time.For clarity, I’m referring to the receptionist with the brown/gold colored hair at the front desk, not the other receptionist who was polite. The dentist was actually great and professional, but the front desk experience seriously needs improvement.

5 months ago Experiencia negativa: I spent months coming in to wind up with a partial that I can't put in my mouth. I'm pretty sure the impression was warped but she never thought to remake it. Every time I pointed out anything that didn't work Dr. Lau had no idea what I was talking about. Sweet woman but that doesn't make a dentist. Go for fillings or extractions I suppose. I left disheartened and very depressed from the experience

7 months ago Experiencia negativa: I went in for an emergency dental appt and was turnt away due to insurance being deactivated. They were extremely unprofessional and never told me the insurance they had on file. I found out that my insurance was indeed active. When talking to the office manager at the downtown location, she proceeded to tell me its my responsibility for knowing which insurance they had on file. She took no responsibility on the customer service. I think she should be embarrassed about how she handled this situation. She was rude and unkind. I hope she doesn't have to go through something like this in her personal life. I would strongly advise office management training and advise you all pick a different dental office . Very unprofessional to try to argue with a patient.

7 months ago Experiencia negativa: Don’t do fill ins here ! I got a front tooth fill in replacement for a fill in I had for 10-11 years (I got done at another dentist in Brooklyn). It’s been 2 months & it fell out while I was simply flossing, I moved out of state & I called to get a refund/partial refund for a fill in I paid out of pocket for & the representative said that doesn’t constitute for a refund because it’s not supposed to last a lifetime ??? Like obviously girl.. she said I could’ve came back in but I am out of state now & she explained it’s harder to do a bond with a front tooth. So please just save yourself the heartache of wasting $200 dollars & embarrassment.

8 months ago Experiencia fantástica: I went into Nova Dental for my second deep dental cleaning. I kept cancelling my appointments because I was afraid of the pain. I was helped by Briannah the receptionist to stop being afraid and to just do it. Briannah is the main reason I finally had the procedure done. Briannah is a great employee, she cares about Nova Dental and it's clients. Nova Dental is lucky to have Briannah as an employee. My Dentist for the procedure was Dr. Kim. She was gentle, super professional and ultra kind to me. One thing to note, ask for the numbing gel before they administer the Anesthesia needle, you won't feel any pain. I recommend Dr. Kim completely. Go to Nova Dental if you need any dental work, they rock !

8 months ago Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Egly and nurse Ginny were amazing. I had a tooth taken out today. I was petrified that it would be torture. Dr. Ugly and nurse Ginny had it out in 5 minutes. He had it out and I was amazed at how quickly and expertly he performed the procedure. Run, do not walk to Nova Dental and ask for Dr. Ugly and nurse Ginny to be the ones to perform your procedure. I love this place. Update on Nova Dental on Mulberry street in Newark NJ. I went in for a new procedure today. I had 3 fillings put in today. I went in about 20 minutes early and was sitting in the dental chair 3 minutes later. I once again thankfully had the amazing Dr. Egly and the beautiful nurse Ginny operating on me today. 2 minutes after sitting in the dental chair nurse Ginny came into the room and began prepping me for the procedure and a minute or so later Dr. Egly came in and started giving me my 3 new fillings. The procedure took 15 minutes or so and Dr. Egly and nurse Ginny amazingly made it pain free. I felt no pain, even when I got the injections to numb the mouth area that was being operated on. I am making these reviews so that other people know that if they need Dental work they should come to Nova Dental. Everyone treats you so awesome here. Even the front office receptionists are super nice. Thank you Nova Dental !

11 months ago Experiencia negativa: I can't recommend it to anyone. Booked for my daughter and I for cleaning and was to do filing as well. We were overcharged and the dentist was in a hurry while none of the service was offered to us. So disappointed. Not to mention the receptionist with an attitude.

Dr Lau is an angel, she is patient and very careful, you won’t feel a thing, and this is coming from someone who is very sensitive to pain and scared of dentists. The front staff is really nice also, they’re very accommodating with the scheduling. Overall, this is a great place very clean and welcoming.

1 year ago Experiencia positiva: Great dentist! Staff is awesome! The doctor who I worked with I can’t remember her name but she’s GREAT! I love how gentle and how comfortable she made me feel. But i stop going because they took X-rays of my teeth and still miss the fact that my tooth was broken and going rotten. It’s no way they miss that. They literally worked right next to the tooth. Whole time I’m thinking they working on the tooth they never did. I’m over them so I wish they stop calling me. My children aren’t going back either. They can’t be trusted.

1 year ago Experiencia positiva: Dr. Lau is a great dentist. But, the front desk needs to do better, with dealing with appointments. Had an appointment today at 11:15. Then, it was pushed for 11:45. Right before I left my house, they called & told me, the dentist is on vacation. Lost a day's pay for nothing! Now, they have me scheduled for Monday at 5:45 ♀️

Long waited, Permanent crown fall out in 2 weeks Doctor: J Lau do better. I'm calling in Monday for schedule.

1 year ago Experiencia negativa: Local anesthetic didn't work for a cavity filling, so I was in the seat for a total of two hours because nobody seemed to want to figure out why lidocaine wasn't working or provide me alternatives. Doctors and assistants proceeded to work on me anyway knowing that the lidocaine wasn't working completely and I was left screaming in pain while the doctor worked on me. Totally dissociated in the chair and was left traumatized. When I called the office a few days later to learn why this happened and what my future options could be going forward they tried gaslighting me about the lidocaine working despite the fact I was screaming in the chair during the filling process. I've learned to advocate for myself now because of this process but damn, they really didn't care about my patient experience and just saw me as a wallet. Will not recommend this place or be coming back here at all. Very disappointing.

I was literally only receiving a cleaning .. how do you do something like that ?? I’ve never experienced this at a dentist. 2 years ago Experiencia negativa: Staff and Doctor are caring and professional! But the RESTROOM is worst than the public toilet. I went there yesterday for dental cleaning and before i leave i went and used the restroom. There was a huge faeces smear down the toilet bowl, on the outside. From the top to the bottom, like someone had missed and then forgotten to clean it up. There was also some on the back of the toilet too. It was so out of place…GROSS! And the sink inside is very dirty too. Whole RESTROOM is filthy its like forever didn't clean. It should be maintain clean because this is a DENTAL CLINIC!

2 years ago Experiencia positiva: receptionist was very sweet, the best part about my appointment today was her & the only reason why i’m putting three stars. My appointment was for 2pm .. i checked in and waited about 30 mins before I was placed in a room & received my X rays. I noticed that the people who were there before me (just for a cleaning like me) were pretty much in and out of the chair. However, I sat and waited patiently for almost 2 hours before i finally got up and let the receptionist know what was happening. I seen somebody getting serviced before me & I was there first !! When the dentist finally came in and began the work I felt as though he was a little rough because he felt like i was “rushing” him. I’ve never encountered that long of a pain from a teeth clean at once .. especially when i’m making visible movements and faces. I strongly hope that im misinterpreting what happened today, this was my first time going to my own dentist appointment by myself ! I’m gonna give them one more chance because this was also my first time coming to this dentist.. really hope to have a better experience next time.

2 years ago Experiencia fantástica: I get nervous going to the dentist! I also don’t have dental insurance. Had an emergency wisdom tooth extraction done today. Dr. O’Gara was so gentle did not feel a thing that goes as well as when the local anesthesia was administered. It was affordable and did not have to go on a pay plan. I want to also thank the receptionist for being so friendly and informative which helped alleviate my nerves and the dental assistant during the extraction. Overall the experience was gentle and fantastic. Thank you Nova Dental! Thank you Dr. John O’Gara for taking care of me!

2 years ago Experiencia fantástica: I haven’t been to the dentist in 8 years, since I haven’t had dental insurance. But I figured I should get a cleaning, just to make sure my teeth were fine. However, living in nyc means that dental cleanings are $200+ when uninsured and I just don’t have that kind of money. But I found Nova Dental and their new patient deal that gets you a cleaning, exam, and x-rays for $79. Total, my visit was $100 even. Very affordable compared to the prices I’d seen elsewhere. The receptionists, hygienists, and my dentist were also all very kind and gentle and got me in and out of my appointment with ease. :) I definitely recommend them, especially if you’re like me and haven’t seen a dentist for some time !! It’s good to have that peace of mind.
