Dr Zorro and her team do impeccable work & I highly recommend coming here. 2022… I love Smiles for Health! From the first time I walked in I knew this was the dentist for me. The women who work there are kind and connected. Internationally woman owned and run... you can tell it has a woman's touch because it's like walking into a spa instead of a dentist office. This makes the experience far more enjoyable and relaxing. Plus they have all the state of the art technology and equipment needed for next level oral hygiene care. Their dental hygienist is top notch and a lovely human. Dr Zorro is incredible and her assistants support her in executing impeccable work. I recommend becoming a member for 3 cleanings a year, x-rays, an exam and 20% off any work that needs to be done.

Experiencia negativa: It is appalling that I can have had an appointment booked for 3-4 months in advance only for Nancy at the front desk to tell me I called in a week ago to cancel the appointment. I most definitely wouldn’t be showing up for an appointment I cancelled and I most definitely wouldn’t cancel an appointment when I am flying from out of state and only have a short window to see the dentist. I think the situation was handled poorly, Nancy lied to me and my mother about the situation - saying I hadn’t made an appointment and also that I had cancelled it. Ridiculous.

Experiencia positiva: I went to Smiles for Health when I first moved to Oceanside because I was looking for a functional, holistic dentist. Everyone there was very nice, and my initial exam went smoothly. They mentioned I had a small cavity between two molars and encouraged me to get it filled the next day. While the staff was friendly and professional, I realized afterward that their approach didn’t really align with what I expected from a true holistic dentist. Their website describes a functional, holistic focus, but in my experience, they took a more traditional approach — for example, rushing to fill a minor cavity rather than taking a more conservative or preventive path with monitoring, nutritional support, or non-fluoride alternatives. The filling appointment itself felt a bit rushed — it was the end of the day, and everyone seemed ready to wrap up. Unfortunately, I had pain in that tooth immediately afterward that never went away. Over time, it even led to jaw pain, and I later learned that the filling hadn’t bonded properly and had thrown off my bite. To be fair, I never went back to Smiles for Health to give them a chance to make it right — they likely would have — but I just didn’t feel comfortable returning. I genuinely liked the people there and think they mean well, but for anyone specifically seeking a truly holistic or functional approach, I’d suggest doing a bit more research first.

Experiencia fantástica: As someone who could get a PhD in dodging dentist offices, this is the first time I've found an amazing one with wonderful bedside manners and honest practices. Dr. Zorro is excellent at her job: highly skilled, kind, and thoughtful. She treated me like a family member and has conservative recommendations which I really appreciated. She's not trying to get your money - she's only looking to take care of you and be your advocate. She's done many procedures for me, with kindness and excellent expertise. She makes you feel safe. Love her! Yvette is my hygienist and she is wonderful!! She did a deep cleaning for me and beforehand I was very nervous. But for the first time, this deep cleaning was painless. I didn't feel a thing and she consistently asked me if I was comfortable, if I needed anything, etc. Her bedside manner was excellent, she is so empathetic. She also used a special laser device to kill bad bacteria - this office has such cool technology. They even have a device that can tell if you have sleep apnea! The deep cleaning went by quickly because Yvette was so wonderful and gentle. She works fast and effectively. I can't say enough good things about her and this office. Recommend 10/10 on every level!!

The minute you walk in everyone is greeting you and there are little things to calm you like tea and essential oils. They were training a worker while working on her so it would have been nice to been informed about that ahead of time.

Unfortunately, the accounting staff are not as skilled and you may be presented with hundreds of dollars owed out of the blue - due to incomplete follow up with the insurance prior to expensive services and, consequently, largely underestimated quotes. Ignore their estimates and call your insurance yourself PRIOR to proceeding with any of the pricey periodontal treatments all dentist offices, without a single exception, always pressure for.

I just switched to Smiles for Health and was anxious about switching dentists. The office was clean, decorated nicely, and spacious. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and informative. And my dentist took the time to go over everything she was doing and why. The office utilized new (to me) technology and I learned a lot about not only my teeth and gums but of my sinuses, airway, and jaw bone. I recommend this dentist and will definitely be returning.

I love that Dr. Zoro has a more holistic approach, she’s respectful of that kind of lifestyle rather than be pushy for a western medical route. However, she seems she won’t shy away from either route where it’s necessary. I love having both perspectives and options in a respectful care provider!!

Experiencia fantástica: First visit a couple of weeks ago was great — exceptional staff and state of the art equipment. A minor wait for my appointment, but staff kept me informed on timing. Cleaning was wonderful and consultation with Dr. Raven was caring and thoughtful. Second visit was yesterday. Three and a half hours in the chair (I had a few repairs that had to be done). Dr. Raven and LizBeth could not have been better. Toward the end of the treatment, I shared with them that I started dozing while they were working in my mouth. No pain during or after the procedure, and none the next morning. Great experience! I’d say “I can’t wait to go back,” but it’s still a visit to the dentist, so I’d lose credibility. However, if you need to go to the dentist, you should give this office a try!
