Negative experience: This is to express my concerns about the billing procedures at Dr. Gedeon’s office. While I appreciate Dr. Gedeon’s excellent dental care and skills, I have encountered several issues with the billing department that need to be addressed. Firstly, it has been challenging to navigate the pre-approval process for insurance claims. I understand that the office is part of a dental health insurance network, yet I find myself paying significant amounts out of pocket due to the lack of pre-approval from my insurance before treatment. This process seems particularly unfair, especially since the insurance covers 100% of the services provided in-network. Additionally, I have been asked to pay in advance for treatments, which adds to the concern. This could be quite a barrier for patients who rely on their dental insurance. Moreover, I have faced a lack of clarity with the billing codes and explanations of procedures. They are rather complicated and difficult to understand, leaving patients feeling confused and unsure about what they are being charged for. To further complicate matters, I have received calls from dentist's office to cancel my appointments twice due to these billing issues. This has been frustrating, and I believe it does not reflect the standard of care that Dr. Gedeon provides. I would appreciate your feedback on these matters and any steps that can be taken to improve the billing experience for patients.

Fantastic experience: If you are looking for great service: On Christmas Eve, while at work, my front tooth fell out. When I called the Dentist's office I left a message due to the office being closed. I received a return call from Dr. Gedeon who asked me if I could meet him at the office. He opened the office and proceeded to give me a temporary tooth. I was very appreciative because I had engagements for the Holidays. I don't think you can get better service than that. Fantastic experience: Our heartfelt thanks to Dr Simon Gedeon who took my daughter in for an emergency dental care, prior to her overseas trip, on a Sunday when the office was closed. He went out of his way to call back on a Sunday morning and patiently waited for us for more than 3 hours to make sure he could be present to give the best care. His diagnosis for my daughter's jaw pains included recommendations on pillow choice and sleeping posture turned out to be absolutely on the mark. We are so grateful to have found such an excellent doctor. Thank you, Dr. Gedeon!!

Positive experience: Was recommended to try this dental office by my sister in law, who had nothing but positive feedback about her experience. I had already done my research and combined a list of offices, but opted to go with one which I personally knew the person who reviewed it, and glad I did. Dr Gedeon is wonderfully personable (friendly) and communicative. He always asks for feedback & truly wants to know if you have any questions - it's not just a ritual. Being a diabetic comes with MANY challenges and dental issues are amongst them unfortunately. However, the office Periodontist and Dentist have been helping me tremendously. Reception staff are also very kind and do their best to assist with financial difficulties. On a side note - shout out to Lainie for going beyond the call of duty and assisting me when my blood sugar dropped (due to stress) and she stayed with me until she was certain I was ok. THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU LAINIE! Customer service goes so very far beyond what is listed in ones job description. Will definitely give an update to this review once my treatment is completed.

Negative experience: Unprofessional. I had an appointment and was running late (using mass transit) They called multiple times asking if I was coming. I let them know i Was going to be late and they said everything was ok, even after i apologized for it. Well, I got there and the place was dark and no one answered my phone calls in the building. So they ghosted me basically. If you wanted to leave the office early, or my lateness was interfering with how you run your practice, then tell me it would have been better to reschedule! Don't make me run around, rushing like an idiot, and not be present at your practice. Would not recommend at all.

Negative experience: After being a regular patient of his for a while, Dr. Gideon completely botched my root canal in the summer of 2021. After the procedure I still felt pain at the site which shouldn't have been possible as the nerves had been (supposedly) severed. Dr. Gideon kept saying "It's probably just residual pain, we'll see how it feels in a week." Which we did, week after week for several weeks I had to go into the office and follow up to no resolve. Eventually the pain subsided on its own and that was that. Then randomly in March 2023, I was hit w/an excruciating pain at my root canal site. Like a 20 out of 10, white hot level of agony that you can't escape. Mouth closed, mouth open, water, air, sitting, breathing-- all of it added to the pain. And there was no relief to be found. I desperately had to hunt down an oral surgeon or dentist who was even willing to take a look at my mouth since a lot of providers won't touch or revise a root canal that they didn't initially do themselves. Eventually I found a wonderful endodontist who took a look and discovered that Dr. Gideon missed an entire nerve in my tooth during the procedure. So the nerve had just been getting more exposed and damaged every day for two whole yrs. The endodontist also discovered that I'd been walking around with a temporary filling/covering on top of the root canal for 2 years and that Dr. Gideon hadn't even bothered giving me a proper crown after my root canal. I genuinely wasn't even angry learning all this, just confounded and so beyond grateful that that level of agony I was in had such a quick resolution. After shelling out $1200+ for the emergency revision, I reached out to Dr. Gideon to let him know what happened and to find some answers, but he dodged every single one of my calls and messages. His staff constantly said he was unavailable or had just stepped in with a patient. Always with the promise that he'd give me a call back which he never did. I eventually just had to stop by the office in person to speak with him since he couldn't be bothered to engage in the most basic professional courtesy and return a simple call. When I spoke to him in person, he wasn't even remorseful or concerned, nor did he have answers of how on earth he could've missed severing an entire nerve. He just played confused and he even tried to make sly comments that my endodontist wasn't being truthful about him missing a nerve. He requested my endontist's phone number which I provided, along with his contact information. A year later and Dr. Gideon STILL hasn't reached out to the endodontist, he hasn't reached out to me or returned any of my messages after that day, he hasn't apologized, provided answers, or even offered any type of reimbursement for what I paid out of pocket to him for a botched surgery. And, in a case of extreme callousness and lack of self-awareness, his staff reached out to me multiple times since to try and get me to come in for a teeth cleaning. And when the subject of me speaking to Dr. Gideon about the botched surgery comes up, they were quick to hang up or change the subject Dr. Gideon's level of ineptitude, unprofessionalism, and disregard blows my mind to this day and all I can do is thank God that he didn't harm me further or any of the friends and family that went to him based on my referrals. I can't stress enough how far away everyone should stay from him and his practice.

Negative experience: Patient beware!! I had an appointment that I scheduled six months ago and, when I called to reconfirm, was told that the office was closed. They said they contacted me but no one contacted me. My insurance allows two cleanings a year and since this was the last day in December I’m out a cleaning!! . And six months ago the office recommended a procedure I did not need (that was out of pocket)!! My dentist for many years stopped taking insurance so now I will l ask him for a recommendation (instead of looking up a dentist on Google!- big mistake). I was never comfortable that I was getting professional service there, like I felt with my former dentist and my periodontist. Choose wisely and don’t choose Fort Lee Smiles!!

They really were a big help ! They only take private insurance but i would recommend them because they do financing.

Negative experience: Awful treatment, one of the staff introduced herself as a dentist, when I asked for the dentist that I made an appointment with I was told that he's not working and not available although I saw him in the office working. Secretary kept lying about the situation.

Negative experience: I made an appointment for my daughter to remove 2 teeth ( i explain the situation to the secretary that an oral surgeon was needed and she agreed that the dentist was able to do the procedure) When I got there they seemed desperate to retrieve my insurance information then they called me to a room and took xrays because they didnt want to use the xray i brought from last year. then when the dentist got in he told me that was not able to remove her teeth and told me to go to an oral surgeon even though that was what it was told since the beginning with his secretary. Then, the secretary apologized about the situation and said she was not going to submit any claim to my insurance BUT she lied because she ended up submitting the claim. This was an scam for me. Now i will have to pay the service to another dr. What it was already expensed in this office.

Negative experience: The dentist is okay but the office personnel which was very good but now it's total chaos and totally clueless and unprofessional. I went to a new dentist who requested three different times my records especially my x-rays to no avail. I also requested a phone call from the dentist two times, again no response what soever. My new dentist requested a phone call from fort lee smiles dentist and got no response. !I can no longer recommend them due to these issues.
