Fantastic experience: As always taking me in as an emergency, always kind and funny. Needed a tooth pulled with absolutely no pain at all. No swelling or pain today. I just love them!!!

Negative experience: I would not recommend Dearfield Family Dentistry, especially for patients with periodontal concerns. My daughter, husband, and I ultimately decided to leave this practice due to our experiences. My husband is a periodontal patient who requires close monitoring, and unfortunately, during his time with this practice, his oral health deteriorated significantly. After seeking care elsewhere, he was diagnosed with severe gum disease that required LANAP treatment, gum grafting, and multiple rounds of antibiotics to address a serious infection. What was most concerning was the lack of proper periodontal monitoring. His gum pockets were not being measured, and the cleanings we received felt inadequate compared with the level of care needed for someone with periodontal disease. Patients with gum disease require consistent surveillance, detailed evaluations, and a knowledgeable dental team that can identify problems early and help prevent progression. In our experience, the practice did not provide the level of periodontal maintenance we expected, including appropriate gum care techniques such as periodontal irrigation that other dental offices routinely use. I also had my own concerns with the care I received. I developed severe dental sensitivity from grinding my teeth, which caused gum recession and significant discomfort. I felt my pain was not taken seriously, and the only recommendation I received was a prescription toothpaste that did not improve my symptoms. After leaving and seeking care elsewhere, I was offered additional treatment options, including laser treatment that successfully addressed my sensitivity and cosmetic bonding on 10 individual teeth. The results not only resolved my sensitivity but also made a major improvement in the appearance of my teeth. I was disappointed that these options were never discussed with me or that I was not referred to other professionals who could provide the appropriate care. Overall, my experience has been that this practice lacks the level of periodontal knowledge, comprehensive evaluation, and treatment options that patients deserve. I strongly encourage anyone with periodontal disease, gum recession, or complex dental concerns to seek a practice with a stronger focus on specialized care and preventive treatment.

Fantastic experience: The technician was pleasant and efficient. She did a great job with the revolving x-ray machine, The Oral surgeon, Dr Valauri was excellent. He explained that I had a cracked tooth and that it had to be extracted and what the procedure is.

Additionally, my hygienist Olta today was exceptional and provided great recommendations for a new electric toothbrush, water pick, and Sensodyne. The dentist came in at the end and explained everything. No overselling which is refreshing. As easy as it gets..

Negative experience: You visit this clinic once, you are taking the risk of getting random charged from the credit card that you left with them, after a year that you had zero engagement with the clinic at all. We had cleaning visit with Dr. Lin at Dearfield Family Dentistry, 2/2/2024. There was a copay and the rest was covered by the insurance, very simple and straightforward. It was confirmed and paid on the day the service was provided. However, this Monday 1/20/2025. After almost a whole year. I got a text from the clinic claiming that I have an outstanding balance of $600+ with the clinic and they will process the payment within 2 hours from the text was sent, without any actual bill/itemized receipt. After two days of highly unproductive communication with the clinic. My learnings are the following. 1. They first admit that fact that the $600 charge was inaccurate, and they will refund part of it. (So this means that they are depending on the patient (?) to review everything to even make the numbers right?). And by the time I am leaving this review, I don't see the refund, not even a pending one on my end. 2. Then they mentioned that a separate check was sent to me from insurance 11/21/2024 (which makes zero sense to me. First of all, it's just a cleaning and everything was paid off on the service date. Secondly why would insurance send a check to me 9 months after all that.). 3. Lastly they made up a completely fresh itemized bill with service that I don't recall taking (Or at least it was never communicated prior to the service. Again it was originally just a consultation with the doctor and a cleaning with a hygienist.). 4. They now have a tendency of processing charges from your card without any consent. Since as of this morning of 1/23/2025 I was charged another ~$200 from the clinic. (So as of now I am charged over $900 for a cleaning, with insurance. I bet a general cleaning even without insurance wouldn't take this much). Overall, it seems that the clinic it's either in a bad situation financial-wise or the billing department has zero idea on what they are doing. Now I am taking my time to speak with my bank to dispute these transactions and leaving this review to raise awareness on how they abuse the financial agreement that you signed and how bad this clinic is managed.

Dr. Schwartzstein is such a great dentist and basically helped correct the bad work from a dentist at a different practice in Stamford. You can tell how much she cares for her patients and prioritizes making sure they’re comfortable. I trust this team and would recommend to anyone especially if you’re questioning your current practice.

Fantastic experience: I had a bit of a shock recently when lunch came with a side of shattered dental crown. Dr. Schwartzstein agreed to an emergency visit the following afternoon. She and her team, of course, did a perfect job of replacing the crown - in less than two hours! I’m very grateful for Dr. Schwartzstein’s timely, professional and painless dental care.

Fantastic experience: I couldn’t be happier with the dental treatment I received at Dearfield Family Dentistry in Stamford, CT. I split my time between Florida and CT. I broke a molar tooth in half in Florida just before returning to CT for the Summer. My daughter advised me to call her dentist, Dr Schwartzstein, at Dearfield which I did. I was given a very quick appointment for which I was extremely grateful. Dr S is an extremely experienced, capable, accomplished and skilled dentist. She efficiently explained the treatment and found to my amazement that she could prepare a crown for the broken tooth the same day. The staff and dental assistants were also extremely competent, professional and courteous. Best dental experience that I ever had. I will not be going anywhere else for my dental needs. I highly recommend Dr Schwartzstein and the entire staff at Dearfield Family Dentistry in Stamford.

Jackie (Hygienist) is a rock star handling an old man that squirms like a child. Dr. Schwartzstein was thorough and explained treatment plan well. Overall experience was great!

They explained everything thoroughly without talking down to me or overwhelming me with details. Their equipment is state of the art, my x-rays were instantly available to the dentist who reviewed them before she even came into the exam room. She was able to pull them up on a TV and showed me exactly what she was talking about. Couldn't be happier.

Fantastic experience: I fractured my left front tooth at 8pm on a Wednesday, and Dr. Gogate had my tooth fixed, painlessly and perfectly by noon the next day. I’ve never been a fan of going to the dentist (who is?) but Dr. Gogate is, by far, the best dentist I have ever known. Caring, considerate, unbelievably talented, and I’ve never had a bad experience, be it a cleaning, crown, or other reason for my visit, it’s always prompt, painless, professional, and perfectly performed. My wife and kids go to Dearfiled, and my grade-school aged children never raise a complaint when they have to to. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to go anywhere else but Dearfield Family Dentistry.

I went to the Greenwich office for a binding in July then had my first cleaning in the Stamford office in Stamford just recently in January. A truly lovely place… downside is they’re popular so it’s hard to reschedule a timely cleaning! Advice is definitely book right when leaving, or get yourself on the waitlist!

I had a badly broken tooth after eating some Halloween hard candy, (thats what is payback for eating some of your kids candy lol), and called their office immediately. They were very accommodating and had me fixed in a day. Of course, they presented the options and the cost before I said I want to proceed. The attention to detail and the precision in their work & planning with a tremendous amount patience in doing so, I would regard better than a GOLDSMITH.
