Negative experience: I really loved this dental office but things seem to be going downhill and I’m really bummed. This last few years they’ve completely lost all their regular hygiene staff (which I do know is a nationwide issue) and it doesn’t feel personal at all anymore when a new PRN hygienist fills in every time. We also rarely see the dentist as he’s not in frequently and has cancelled appointments due to taking a last minute day off. They were going to allow my kids to go over a year and half without ever actually physically being seen by the dentist, which is not good practice. When I brought it to their attention, they rectified the situation, but I shouldn’t need to, and I don’t think the average patient would know to advocate for that. Dr Gaston can be a little gruff and awkward but has always done a good job. It’s just unfortunate the way things are taking a turn in there. They also don’t accept Delta Dental anymore so we are still having to pay a significant portion of our preventative appointments. Disappointing all around.

Fantastic experience: I've had two teeth pulled here, and several fillings. Never had any problems. The staff is friendly and good at their jobs. Had an implant done here about a year ago, and no problems with it so far. There is a nice sitting area if you get in early, or otherwise have to wait, and everything is nice and clean and the staff is friendly. Definitely recommend to anyone living in the area.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to this same dental office and Dentist for years even after moving out of the city of muskegon to Holland. I love the atmosphere the nature views from the rooms and everyone who works there. DR Gaston is remarkable and he is very straight forward on his patience dental health but not pushy. He is very good at what he does and enjoys conversation with his patients and very thourough in his work. I would 100% recommend this Dental office to everyone!

Negative experience: I went here and there was no communication of what was happening and the dentist stuck 2 needles of who know what in my mouth and walked away. I waited for half an hour and no one had come to continue the procedure. I just walked out

Fantastic experience: At 72 years old, I have been to many dentists over the years. I've had crowns that had to be adjusted, grinding down the surface repeatedly until they felt right. My wife had a tooth pulled when we would have preferred a root canal and a crown. Then I found Dr Gaston. It was a blessing to have found Fountain View Family Dental. Dr Gaston is not just skillful. He is gifted. My first visit resulted in a bonding, I believe they call it. I had a badly chipped front upper tooth. Dr Gaston patched that tooth, matching the color of my front teeth. I can not tell you which tooth he had repaired it was done so well. My second major work was when two crowns that were put in my a different practice went bad after a year or so. The original crowns caused me so much trouble the first month and eventually had to be replaced. That's when I was able to go back to Dr Gaston. He replaced both crowns, no issues, perfect right out of his chair. I'm now looking forward to Dr. Gaston giving me my first tooth implant. Thank you, Dr. Gaston and the wonderful staff at Fountain View Family Dental. Updated as of Aug 19th 2025: I went in for a check-up on my implant healing abutment. Dr Gaston was able to adjust the abutment tighter. He wanted me in sooner. I was busy with out-of-state guest. I'm looking forward in getting my new crown mounted onto the implant. The implant isn't the crown tooth. The implant replaces the lower portion of the tooth. The root that is embedded in the jawbone. There's a implant abutment that will attach to the implant and that abutment is what the crown attaches to in the absents of a tooth that is prepared for a crown. Exciting process. Dr. Gaston is very good in explaining the process.

Fantastic experience: Dr. William Gaston is the definition of a Professional in his field. He demonstrates a high level of professionalism and confidence. Which is backed by many years of experience. He is very informative about what he needs to do during your appointment and is able to do so in a timely manner. He is very focused on his work and your level of comfort while he's doing it. Complacent is not a word in his vocabulary or his practice. I've been to many dentists in my life, many which were bad experiences, and he is by far the best one. I couldn't feel any more confident in his ability, or that I'm in good hands while under his care.

Fantastic experience: I enjoy the effort for comfort. The lobby has a living room vibe. When sitting in the Dentist chair there was a nice view of birds, squirrels and rabbits. Inside in the same procedure room there were nice pictures on the wall, music was playing and a TV screen/monitor with a view of a waterfall. The distractions make it a more pleasant experience. The Dentist shared a personal story which was also nice.

Fantastic experience: I had asked my regular dentist about bonding a few spots on my teeth after an accident and getting zoom whitening done. She insisted I needed to get veneers...they quoted me over 9 grand!!! I called sev offices closer to home and they squeezed me in the same day!! Super friendly staff and the dentist was very kind. And it'll cost under a thousand dollars to get my issues fixed. Couldn't be happier

Negative experience: The star is for the staff. Bless them for dealing with that wretch of a man. Canceled my denture journey with them at my 2nd wax try-in when Dr. Gaston started gaslighting me. I realized I wasn't going to get the look I was going for, from a person who doesn't know how to listen to his patients.

Fantastic experience: FVFD is in a lovely location and the rooms all have nice views of wildlife, fountains, or wild flora. The chairs have built-in massage backs. The hygenists are efficient, pleasant, and kind, are good at cleaning your teeth while causing minimal or no discomfort, and they will answer any (reasonable) questions you have. Dr. Gaston is excellent at his job. On a side note, every time I see his name, I can't help thinking that Beauty and the Beast should be somewhere in the Waiting Room.
