Spearmint Kids Dental & Orthodontics - Wichita Falls

Negative experience: I took my kids there for the first time since moving to WF, and the dentist herself was very short with us, rude, and didn't seem to have a moment to spare. She told me that both of my kids had 3 cavities each. That seemed like a bunch considering they've never had any before. So I took them to another dentist office in town for a second opinion, and they told me that my kids didn't have any cavities at all! The 2nd dentist showed me the other x-rays and had me look at their teeth to verify that they indeed didn't have any.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Garrett and his assistant were patient and kind to my daughter during her procedure today. My husband and I were impressed by the care she received from all of the staff at Spearmint Kids dental.

Fantastic experience: Took my daughter here for the first time and had a great experience! The office smelled very clean, and we were warmly greeted when we arrived. I loved that they had toddler-sized chairs, tables, books, and toys — the whole atmosphere felt very welcoming for kids. The dental assistant and dentist were both kind, answered all of our questions, and never made us feel pressured into anything. I’m so glad we found this office, and happy my daughter is now a patient here!

Fantastic experience: This office is always amazing. The staff are phenomenal. Today we had a different provider than we did in the past and she was training a new assistant. She was patient, kind and thorough with the new employee and my daughter. That is a true blessing!

Fantastic experience: All of the staff was very professional, and extremely friendly, and made us feel right at home! The Dentist made my son feel so at ease, and he thought she was just great! At the end of the appointment the kids get a coin, which allows them to get a prize from the machine in the office! It was a nice touch! We were in and out in about 15 mins. It was the best experience!

Fantastic experience: From start to finish in less than a week we have been with them I have nothing else to say but PHENOMENAL. From AshlEE at the front desk in the initial phone call with the referral being made, to a hiccup on insurance, to working my daughter into their already hectic schedule. She had a pretty lengthy procedure done and everyone was just top notch. The professionalism between the doctor and all workers was unlike we’ve experienced. Their system they have created to make it as calm and easy for their patients and families couldn’t have been better. They take the time to go over every tool and what it does with their patient to show them it’s nothing scary. I am so happy and thankful for this team. We will be permanent patients from here on out!!!!!

Fantastic experience: First time going here today with 3 of my kids. I really like them so far, they were very patient and kind to my kids which means a lot to me because one of my 8 year olds has a horrible fear of the dentist. We originally went in to make appointments and was told there was a couple month wait to be seen as new patients however, the nice lady behind the desk assured me she would call me if they had anything cancel so we could be seen sooner. Sure enough with only have waited about a week they called and were able to fit 3 of my kids in today!

Fantastic experience: Spearmint dental has hands down been the BEST experience for my boys! We transferred care about a year ago and have no regrets. My children came from anxiety ridden, unhinged behavior when mentioning the dentist prior to our transfer. Sierra has been exceptional. She is patient, kind, intuitive to the possible emotional stressors, she takes her time to explain the procedure to my boys and has absolutely been the biggest blessing in building trust making our dental visits an exciting adventure rather feeling like dooms day. Negative experience: My 3 year old had his first dental appointment today. His older brother has been to this location a couple of times and both were okay experiences but nothing over the top great. My 3 year old has had several ICU stays in his past and is rather weary of doctors or anyone in scrubs. I wrote this down where indicated on the paperwork, which I don’t think was even shared with anyone that actually worked with him. The hygienist that came out to get us was not friendly or engaging, like someone could expect of someone that works with children . She kept her mask on while getting his height and weight, so it was difficult even for me to understand her, much less my son. The dentist also was difficult to understand—again talking through her mask, and rather quickly. It definitely felt like their goal was to get him in and out as quickly as possible. I had been told ahead of time that the thrive plan would cover two yearly check ups, cleanings and exams, but then when finished was still expected to pay and was told it only offered a discounted price. After some back and forth, a receptionist told me they’d be willing to waive the fee for today, which i appreciated, but I don’t understand the confusion or inconsistency. I was charged more today for someone to count my son’s teeth and rub a toothbrush over them for 30 seconds, with the thrive plan than I paid for my own appointment that included x rays, exam and full cleaning without the thrive plan. Overall, we just haven’t had a great experience here and already have appointments with a new dentist. If you can afford to, I would definitely say find somewhere else

Negative experience: If I could give a business ZERO stars I would. It took 3 months to get my daughter in to do fillings. They chose moderate sedation for my 3 year old and the dentist has the AUDACITY to ask her like she’s a 15 year old child, “why are you freaking out?” He asked her like three times in the most aggressive tone and freaked her out even more. Then turns around and tell me she’s being uncooperative so he refused to finish treatment… my daughter needed the treatment and it took long enough to get to this point. Most unprofessional dentist I’ve ever had the experience with. I’m very confused by his demeanor and if he talks to all his children in this manner he should not be working with kids. That’s Dr Garrett. I’ve never been more upset for my child in my entire life.

But she did very well, the staff , dental hygienist, and dentist were extremely comforting and let her know what was to be expected the whole way! Fantastic experience: This is only our 3rd visit with them and I’m so glad we switched over, they have been helpful every time and have answered all my questions and concerns. My little one had a procedure done yesterday and I was so impressed with all of the staff. They were all so patient, understanding, and explained everything especially to my little one. He was scared when we first went in and they eased our visit, explained and showed my little one everything they were going to do and showed them all the tools they were using and what each one did. He was so calm and did so good throughout the procedure that they were all impressed with him but I can honestly that was because of them all- thank you all so much!

Fantastic experience: My kiddos need LOTS of work, because life! My sweet boy had his first appointment for his left side, and the entire team of Dr Garrett, MaShae, and another sweet woman who was monitoring vital signs, were all so amazing with him today! It was a 2 hour process with conscious sedation, and they were so kind, respectful, and were willing to stop and educate him when he had ANY questions (and he had quite a few!). MaShae went above and beyond to prepare him for every possible situation he may face, and never treated him like he was an inconvenience. I was super anxious because he had never done this before, but they get my vote for best everything there could be in the dental world. They let me stay and hold his hand, and I never felt like I was in the way or not welcome. I’m a nurse, and it was super comforting to be able to see his vital signs monitored so closely, because that was one big worry of mine. If you’re on the fence about getting your kids in here, please get on it already! We can’t change the past but we can do better by changing our habits and getting on top of problems that are present. Best team ever…hands down!

Fantastic experience: Prior to going to Spearmint Kids Dental and Orthodontics, my daughter was scared to go to the dentist. She had a bad experience before. After moving to Spearmint, she's not scared anymore. Their positive, patient, and hands-on way to explaining everything to the kids before anything happens helped her internalize the experience and expectations. She is comfortable to tell them when she is experiencing pain or uncomfort and they are patient with her as they explain what is going on or stop to determine if they need to continue the work. I have nothing but high praise for all of the staff members we've worked with so far. From the front desk to the dentist, everyone there has been absolutely wonderful. We appreciate everything they do!

They were beyond patient with our 5-year-old, showing so much compassion and understanding throughout the entire visit. They took the time to truly listen to him when he felt uncomfortable, ensuring that he felt safe and at ease. Their kindness and professionalism made all the difference, and thanks to their gentle approach, he made it through his procedure without a single issue! We couldn’t be happier with the level of care and customer service we received. It’s not every day you find a dental team that goes above and beyond to make young patients (and their parents!) feel comfortable and supported. Negative experience: We travel an amazing amount and both of my kids have been to dentists around the world. We are newer to Wichita Falls and still hadn’t found our dentist home (we are often on the road for months at a time both in and out of the country). We were new patients to Spearmint Kids Dental and it started off great. They saw us quickly, receptionists were friendly and rates were competitive. It seemed that the recommendations were correct and we were happy to have found our dental home. My daughter’s front teeth were pretty bad from overnight nursing. She also had a cap come off of one of the back teeth. She wasn’t in any pain at the time of the appointment and was able to sit by herself (she is only 3 and a premie so sitting in the large chair was difficult). Dr. Garret was awkward and very short when he came in to go over my daughters teeth. He hardly looked at her mouth or Xrays and instead asked us questions as to why we left our old dentist to come to him. He referred us out of office for the majority of the work but claimed that he was able to fix her back tooth after the holidays. He told us to watch for swelling and/or pain and to call the specialist about addressing her front teeth. We left not sure about Dr. Garret but still confident in the reviews so we purchased the plan sold to us at the front desk. It did make financial sense after all. A little more upfront, but it would even out after her next visit. Over the holiday my daughter’s pain started. Salt water swishing was added to my daughter’s routine after every time she ate. We woke throughout the night with her. Taught her how to eat on the other side of her mouth and waited for the dentist office to open. As soon as the office opened my wife called and the office made an appointment for her right away. We were ecstatic and my wife cancelled her previous engagements and I took off work to help control my daughter during the procedure. We were about to leave for the appointment when Spearmint Kids Dental called us back stating that they changed their mind and that they would not work on my daughter’s teeth at all. They claimed that the specialist would need to address all of my daughter’s teeth. We explained that we had left messages with the specialist but the were not open today and wouldn’t open until Monday. The lady claimed that Dr Garret refused to see our daughter and would not perform ANY work on her mouth including the rear tooth. So not only is my daughter going to be in pain for days now (not that dentist should care about that or anything). Not only are we in limbo to see if this other dentist has capacity to see my daughter or when (they are closed for the next few days). Not only did we alter our schedules and were forced to take off work and miss prior arrangements. James Garret blatantly lied to our faces and then hid behind his assistant to cancel on a procedure he had previously committed to. Needless to say we are still looking for our family dentist.

Fantastic experience: Doctor Garrett and his staff are amazing!! They go above and beyond, are amazing with kids, and truly care about their patients. We had an awful experience with another dentistry in town but my son adores everyone here. They are truly a blessing!

Negative experience: The regular dentist appointment for my daughter was a pretty decent visit. So I had high hopes taking my son in to continue treatment for his braces. I gave them over three weeks so they could call his last ortho for the treatment he had already received. They never called the ortho or his insurance. Instead the dentist came up with some off the wall treatment plan that completely contradicted the last dentist he had seen for a year and a half. The dentist didn’t even care about his previous work, he was just looking for a paycheck. Telling me that it’s 6500 plus for braces (he already has on btw) 300 down payment (when I was originally told that’s usually a payment for kids who get new braces done or the current ones taken off and put back on. They said they were giving me a great deal and discount coming out to $3800. I paid less than that at the last ortho and he was seen for a year and a half. This dentist wanted this for rubber bands in his mouth for another 2 plus years, when we were told previously that he would have less than a year left by his old ortho. He even went as far to tell me he wanted to pull a tooth to bring his overbite back. When we worked hard on getting his adult canines in with oral surgery. He would if known all of this had he cared enough to look. I had to drive an hour for that. Definitely no not recommend for ortho.

Fantastic experience: I always feel like my kids are in great hands when they come to spearmint. My son has had to come for a few appointments to get some fillings and Kayla has been the assistant with each visit and I could not be more happy with his treatment each time! She always makes him feel comfortable and worry free before hand and always tops it off with a popsicle. We truly love dentists and staff at Spearmint dental and orthodontics!

What really made me smile was when she realized his lips were chapped and put some vaseline on them so they wouldn't crack. Outstanding patient care!

They answered our concerns throughly. Office was clean and there were some books and toys for kids to play with while on waiting. At the end of the appointment, my baby got a cute toy and a small essential dental kit for his teeth. Overall, we were pleased with the dentistry service. Highly recommend

Fantastic experience: The dental hygienist and doctor who saw my 2 year old where very patient with any questions I had. Were very thorough in explaining to me and my 2 year old each step of the process. They were gentle, kind and patient with him and me, even the reception was very kind and patient as I sorted out a minor issue with our insurance provider. It was clear to me that Spearmint was happy to have us there, and were very comfortable and confident in what they were doing.

Fantastic experience: We came to Spearmint Kids after being long time patients of Dr. Lee’s. We switched after trying to reach his office for a month with no return phone calls. Boy was this a different experience! The dental assistant, Kayla was an absolute joy. She was very helpful with some questions I had, funny, and I could tell she took pride in her job. And the dentist we saw was an absolute joy. She was engaging, friendly, patient and took every bit of the dentist fear away from my toddler. The entire experience was truly a 10/10. If you need a sign that this is the dentists office for your kids, this is it.

DDS came in full headgear didn’t even introduce himself and began looking at daughter who was completely terrified, which I don’t blame her. All that can be completely overwhelming. The staff was very nice just could tell they weren’t great at communication and understaffed
