TLC Dental – North Lauderdale

Negative experience: had an appointment last week, got there door was close no one told me this place was close. what pissing me off more they kept sending me reminders of the appointment made me drive for no reason. when i got there , i saw a paper at the door which has a number to call, so i called and that ignorant who answered the phone was so rude while i was trying to explain to her what happened she even hanged up in my face , this rude human don’t deserve a receptionist job , i wish i took her name ugh

Negative experience: Had an appointment today for a cleaning and told them that I would be 20 minutes late instead of 15 and they would not take me. Keep in mind they told me they were gonna fit me in since they didn’t have anything available till late November. I have braces and my orthodontist took a little longer to take out my wire. I asked if they could do what they can for today and still refused. The lady on the phone caught a bigger attitude than me as if she were the one that couldn’t get over the five minutes difference and told me she wasn’t gonna help me if I continued to have an attitude as if I didn’t have a right to. I Wasn’t cursing or shouting I was just in shock that the five minutes mattered so much to them after asking for them to do what they could, since they were “accommodating” me. Never had an experience like this at any other dental office even if I told them I would be late. Please work on your costumer service and update appliances in office.

Fantastic experience: Great experience and nice staff! Everyone is very kind and caring. Dr Arenas and Dr Carlos are very knowledgeable and I trust them very much. They did an awesome job.

Fantastic experience: I had such an amazing experience at TLC ! I was embarrassed at how bad my teeth have gotten over the years but they made me feel comfy from the start! I had a bad stain on my front tooth that stopped me from even smiling and as soon as Dr. Arenas was done i wanted to cry because i got my smile back and didn't have to lose my tooth!

Negative experience: Went to the Dentis on 11/7/2022. Had some pain in my tooth. Turns out it was build up. Due to me not having a cleaning in quite some time. Dr Bori gave me a deep cleaning. That went fine. About a week later I noticed some discomfort in my gums. I went to see my primary care who advised it’s not uncommon after a deep cleaning. He said if it gets worse or doesn’t go away go back to the dentist. Well it got worse. I tried to wait it out but the pain increased daily. I made an appointment with TLC again. Dr. Bori checks me out. They do an X-ray which i thought was weird. Then Dr. Bori says I should go get an oral biopsy done. I said for a canker sore. He seems to get aggravated and says. The sores weren’t caused by the cleaning and that they were an underlying condition that arised after the cleaning. Again weird. He does NOT prescribe me anything for pain, just sends me on my way with a referral. The pain gets unbearable. Im using peroxide and salt water 5 times a day to gargle (Google) I go to my primary care who is now in shock. He says it’s an oral infection, probably caused by bacteria getting into open wounds during deep cleaning. Which even I knew from Google. My doctor prescribed Amoxicillin and told me to use Oragel for pain. So much relief finally. Five days later my mouth feels much better sores are barely even there. Thank GOD I got a second opinion. And now he won’t return my calls to discuss my treatment. Update 10 Amoxicillin from my PCP and I’m all better. NO thanks to Dr.Boti at TLC

Positive experience: Went in pain left in pain. Only given one option-the most expensive. Didn’t even offer something for pain until procedure could be done. Never going back.

Positive experience: We really liked here, especially dr. Arenas, who is very knowledgeable and professional, I can't say the same from the management, they decided to change us a $25 fee because my husband call the office to cancel my daughter 'a appointment, the same day, due to she didn't feel well, we explained that, but they didn't care, they preferred to loose 4 customers.

Fantastic experience: TLC has an amazing staff. Everyone was so friendly. Dr. Arenas explained everything in detail. The facility was very clean, made me very comfortable. They had decorations all around. When it was time to check out, Star explained all procedures and charges for our next visit. I usually don’t like the dentist office but my visit last week was top tier! Thank you TLC

Fantastic experience: TLC has soothed all my fears of dental work and helped me a lot with my past trauma of the dentist. Every experience I’ve had with them has been the best dental experience of my life. Dr. Arenas at the Southgate location goes above and beyond! I am just really really pleased with them!

Negative experience: Terrible administrative front desk clerks that font communicate with each ither. You speak to 10 people all 10 people say a different thing. No team work or team communication.

Fantastic experience: I went and saw Dr Arenas and she is amazing and compassionate dentist. I DO NOT like going to the dentist and told her so LOL . I was greeted as soon as I walked in by a very upbeat staff! She made me feel at ease and explained everything she was doing . I had to have an old root canal extracted and a little bone put in. Her assistant Cammy held my hand as I am a big baby LOL Thank you Cammy ! Thank you Dr Arenas ! Great staff all the way around. I will recommend Dr Arenas to anyone who asks me for a dentist. Great doctors and staff!!!!!

Fantastic experience: I would highly recommend TLC Dental to anyone looking for a great dentist and an awesome experience. I was treated with so much care. Everyone was very kind and made me feel so comfortable. Elizabeth, the office manager, was very kind and answered all my insurance questions. She spent the time making sure I understood everything beforehand. I had an emergency over the weekend and I was seen on Monday morning. Dr Arenas and Cami took care of me and I was able to go to work afterwards. I am very appreciative of everyone in the team and will definitely recommend them to all my family and friends :-)

Negative experience: Very very poor customer service and deliberately inflates bills. Today I went to the office to discuss services I was billed for. Initially I spoke with a young man asking to explain the $200.00 overpayment consultation fee.. Elizabeth the office manager rudely interjected and began using profane language including the ‘‘F’ word.. I am appalled to know that TLC would hire someone with gutter quality limited vocabulary. After leaving the office I called the insurance company to discuss the service code noted. Unbeknownst to me the billing code was not an actual billable code the insurance company was aware of. It became evident that the reason for Elizabeth’s behavior may be because as the office manager she is aware that they are creating false codes that someone like you and I would not know that some items on a bill are actually there to mislead the public and over-bill clients especially those on Medicare. Her guilt was evident and I wonder how many patients are being extorted by TLC Dental? I am wondering how many families are being threatened and extorted by this Family owned business.

Fantastic experience: I cannot explain how AFRAID I was of the dentist to the point I rarely visited . However when the time came for me to visit I came upon TLC and read the reviews and decided I would entrust my oral care to them. Best decision. It took some time but I cannot believe how they have accommodated my fears and brought them down to almost zero . Thank you all for your support and I can see I look forward to my next visit .

Positive experience: This Is Update To My recent Review which I needed to correct, after I created this review I was contacted by the owners of this establishment and they decided to correct the situation so they sent me to their other office which they were very attentive and they put me like in a first class treatment ( but they also knew I was going and they were expecting me) they were really nice, the owners gave me credit for all the money spent on the first visit, which I found that to be really admirable, now I am changing my review because not many businesses go the extra mile for the customers, this is an update as of 8/20/21.... .this is the worst place I have ever visited for dentist work. so when you go in the put anyone on you for them to practice. I went in for a pain on a tooth and I was there for less then 20 minutes because the dentist helping was busy with someone else and didn`t even finish the job and I have to find another dentist because they did not finish the job well and now I got the same pain all over again, do not take my word for it but I am a huge reviewer for Google and you can look at my list, I don`t give bad reviews without reasons. also they are trying to make money by over charging you and telling you that your insurance doesn`t cover it. I paid 184$ for 20 minutes of work and 5 of those minutes, she said I will be back I got help someone else and left me alone. this update is as of 6/18/21

Negative experience: Went for remove tooth, after told them I have pain. they make appointment to my surprise they don't have personal to remove tooth. they told me I have to make another appointment for the real dentist. , witch I refuse to make another appointment. waist my time and money

Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to TLC for at least 10 years . Firstly, they have always been consistent with good service, cleanliness, being helpful and being convenient and flexible with availability. I wrote this post to recognize my most recent hygienist, Pooja, who in all of my 10+ Years offered the best cleaning I’ve ever had ! It was painless , Thorough and seamless from beginning to end . I felt like she really got the job done ... and not the expense of a painful experience , best cleaning ever !

Negative experience: Their appointment cancellation document does not contain a monetary amount, MEANING they can charge you whatever they feel like at any given time!!!! Had to give one star in order to be able to leave a review. To top it all off I am still waiting for a refund...itbhas been more than a month!!!! Read the documents carefully ALL future patients and beware of offices like these that steal patients money.

Positive experience: Had tooth pulled this morning and it was a couple miscommunications but they where very good with fixing the issues and I appreciate it. The Dr was very nice and I looking forward to the journey

Fantastic experience: TLC is by far the best dentist office there is the staff is extremely friendly, I got such a warm welcome from them that all my nerves went out the window... My procedure was extremely painless like none at all we even have a few giggles during the procedure just to show how great they are .. Thank you TLC Dental North Lauderdale... your guys are simply amazing !!!

Negative experience: I'm putting this update on top instead of hidden on the bottom of this review in Respect for the administrator Sasha who eventually called us the same day and resolved the billing issue. However I am not going to delete this as things should change and situations like this should not happen. Customers get upset when money is involved and staff should understand this. At the end it was a mistake that was made worse by bad communication and customer service. At the end it was an office/insurance issue that shouldn't have involved us as customers. The medical professionals that work in this facility are great HOWEVER the office personnel and the billing for this office ARE THE WORST. And above all my wallet matters. I just received a bill around 7/15 for an amount due 7/29/2020. Not much of a chance to pay. When I saw the bill I had to call this office for A WEEK before I actually got someone to give me a definitive answer where this bill came from. When the lady spoke to my wife she became very rude when we asked about the bill which CLEARLY states DOS date of service 5/1/2020. She snarkily said that was the date the bill was created. I looked at the bill again and it clearly states DOS 5/1 and there's another statement date 7/8 on top. I'm thinking these people just need money because business is slow from COVID. My wife and I have not been to them since the lock down started so I thought this was going to be an easy call. Turns out this bill of $250 BTW was from a VISIT SINCE JANUARY.....since the beginning of the year. All of the sudden the insurance didn't cover something which when we used them last time it did! I understand anything can happen with insurances and my wife and I will call the insurance to resolve the issues BUT the unprofessionalism regarding the bill and this billing lady laughing at my wife like "the insurance didn't pay what do you want" puts you in a position that you don't want to return AND I'm writing this now. My wife threw the "we're not going back" deal and the lady just said..OK...OK... like whatever. Who cares? WOW. Awesome customer service. Update: called our insurance who said TLC should not have billed us because TLC is in network and there are no limits to going to the same dentist twice. If the office personnel would have worked with us better and tried to resolve the issue WITHOUT being snarky and with better customer service EVERYONE would've been happy. ANYBODY can make a mistake. We could've been on the wrong BUT this time it was them. The office manager could've and should always take the higher road and not be rude on the phone. ITS THEIR business that's in jeopardy here...customers can always find someplace else to go.

Fantastic experience: My experience at TLC has change my feelings about dental care and services. The Doctor, the assistant, and the staff are wonderful. Of all my years of dental services I’ve not experienced the Tender Loving Care that I received from this office, they are truly genuinely patient and concerned for you as a person.

Negative experience: My husband and I went there 4 years ago and we left because they tried to rip us off, and went to a different dental they were doing regular cleaning for us cause they said that’s what they recommended after our x-rays and exams yet TLC always recommend deep cleaning which we did few years ago. I got the same insurance back and they assign us them again because I didn’t get a chance to look for a different dental in my network to have the insurance assign us I called and scheduled an appointment for the same week since it was time for my six months visit. I went there my appointment was at 5pm I was there for almost 3 hours. The staff were okay then, then I was called for x-rays she was nice too. But then after my x-ray I waited for over an hour for the doctor to come and examined my gums and teeth. When he finally came everything was either 1s & 2s. Then I said okay I’m waiting for the cleaning they said no I have to come back another time. I said why I barely have time these up coming weeks to do the cleaning now but they didn’t want to so she tries to schedule me for the same week which I told with my job the time might not be good for me so I might call to reschedule. I made them give me a copy of what I need to get done and I see they tried charging me for things that’s $0 in my insurance when I call the insurance they said no they shouldn’t charge me for fluoride and I’m cover for regular cleaning. I was not supposed to be charged. But I was still scheduled for deep cleaning and my insurance covers me for regular cleaning which I asked for and they didn’t refused to give me when I called the next day. So I asked for a 2nd opinion I said cancel my appointment she said she’ll send my record in my email the girl was rude and hang up quick on me. And they didn’t send my record. I called to make sure my appointment got cancel but they said they’ll charged me $25 for same day cancellation I argued that I spoke to the girl and told her my work schedule is hectic and I might not make it she said just call to cancel which I did twice and I got a bill in the mail for canceling my appointment of $25 stating appt broken I called the insurance last night and file a complaint the 2nd time this time I said file it cause I did call them after they had me waited for hours and all they did was an x-ray no cleaning but I did have them hold off on filing it. I wouldn’t recommend them to anybody my friend used to go there too he said they rip him off too. Please when you go there make sure you check your insurance and get a 2nd opinion first. My husband went somewhere else with the same insurance he didn’t get charged like me specially $5 just for x-rays which is free of charged. I would never go there again nor recommend any family or friends there.

Fantastic experience: The staff was very friendly & professional, from entering the office to leaving. Dr. Tover & his assistant Nicole was very nice . He made sure I was comfortable throughout my entire procedure. Nicole answered & explained all my 1001 questions. With no problem . I definitely recommend them.

Fantastic experience: Ive been coming to the North Lauderdale office for years. They offer very affordable dental plans. The staff is professional and courteous. I had a senior moment and took off from work to come in for a bi-annual cleaning on the wrong day and was seen right away in spite of my mistake. I definitely recommend to my friends.

Negative experience: went for a scaling on my right side ,looked at the mirror when I got home, I wasn't able to notice a difference ,felt like they was trying to upscale me when I got there...they looked at me like I was a dollar sign .going back to my old dentist even if its miles away

Negative experience: I had a great dentist for 7 years however he left area. So tried this place. Beware like going to used car lot. The dentist said everything was fine my insurance covers cleaning. Then the 'closer' came in just like a used car lot she told me i needed extra this extra that, just like used car lot. Of course all yhis uneeded stuff cost patient, insured patient money.Beware you will always pay extra can't be trusted.

Negative experience: Terrible! I called about a cleaning and feedback on re-cementing two crowns. The doctor wouldn't even look at the crowns I had and had them give me a quote for new crows at a cost of $1,200 to me. When asked about the cleaning, I was told they don't do same day cleaning. Doctor would have to review my x-rays to determine the type of cleaning I needed. I wished they'd told me that on the phone where I was also asked to call my insurance about switching dental office. When I went in, they asked me the same question again. Like nobody wrote it down in my chart. A week later I called about the cleaning only to be told the doctor was out and would return in about a week. I Waited another week to see if they would call me. They never did. This tells me that that office, like most others only care about how much money they can squeeze out of you rather than caring about YOU the patient. I recently visited another office where I was very happy. First thing the new office did was take x-rays and give me a cleaning. They then laid out my options for other items of concern. Everyone was extremely friendly and professional at this other office. And by the way, I got the crowns re-cemented the same day for $25 each with my insurance.

Fantastic experience: These guys are absolutely amazing. Once you walk in, you're greeted with a warm welcome. Very professional. The docter is gentle and really explains everything. Great experience.

Negative experience: Awful experience, this is the WORST dentist ever. The staff is racist, they called me a cracker, and various other racially related slurs. Not only are they barbaric and lack basic human compassion, they are aggressive and violent. This place is disgusting, and one of the office staff actually physically assaulted me. If I could give no stars I would. I am still considering pressing charges on the staff member who put her hands on me and pushed me because she wanted me to pay more money for services not rendered. Never go to this place. They only care about the money, they will lie about the cost of their services, and try to force you to pay for services they have not performed. The dentist lied about the treatment I needed in an attempt to extort more money out of me. They ran my card twice and charged me twice for the same service they neglected to perform correctly in the first place. Go to Dr. Bernard and Associates, he is amazing. Avoid TLC Dental like the plague.

Negative experience: After spending nearly two hours there and finding out what I already knew I left in the same pain I came in with. As soon as I advised them I could not afford 700$ for a root canal and opted to have a tooth pulled I was shrugged off to another office cause conveniently they didn’t have an oral surgeon once I advised I couldn’t afford the procedure they recommended needless to say I assigned myself another dentist one who can correctly spell names also smh

Negative experience: I didn’t even go through with the visit. The woman who answered the phone (I believe her name was Brenda) was so lazy. I was scheduled for an emergency visit and she asked me to contact my insurance company to forward an eligibility form. I thought this was strange because, in my experience, the doctor usually contacts the insurance carrier for these types of things. Nonetheless, I contacted my insurance carrier who advised that, per policy, they needed the office to contact them. I called back and let [Brenda] know. She refused to call stating “that’s weird. Usually they call us...” I was on the phone with this woman, in extreme pain and she refused to make a simple phone call. Needless to say, the appointment never happened. Rather than argue back and forth with a woman about a phone call, I found someone else who didn’t mind being bothered with a phone call.

Fantastic experience: Elizabeth & Eileen are amazing every time I come in. Dr. Nick Cicortas has the gentlest hands when applying anesthesia. I’m a big kid when it comes to dentist visits but I feel at home whenever I am here & they fixed my mouth right up at a better cost than other places I’ve been. Will be a patient here for a long time!

Negative experience: I do not recommend this place. This is due to the condescending way I was spoken to by at least two staff members. I was treated as if I did not matter and given a list of expensive procedures to be done with no explanation of what they were charging for. I will be writing a letter to whoever is in charge if this office.

Positive experience: Great first time experience for the most part. Everyone was genuinely friendly kept me occupied with nice conversation as I waited for my dentist. The procedures were explained to me thoroughly along with all my questions being answered and my insurance copayment was broken down for me to easily see what I would be paying out of pocket and why. Fantastic experience: I visited TLC Dental - North Lauderdale for the first time with Dr Ronald Morales. Dr Morales is by far the most professional, knowledgeable, compassionate and gentlest doctor I have ever felt comfortable dealing with. He knew exactly what to say to help me to relax and I could tell just by the way he spoke that he's very passionate about what he does. Now as for the staff at this location, they were also very amazing. They went above and beyond to ensure my visit was an exceptional one.. kudos to James who was Dr Morales assistant at the time he was very kind, thanks to Elizabeth who was super sweet she gave me directions when I got lost and also gave me that big warm welcome that I will never forget..Thanks to Aline who gave me a hug when I was scared haha. Thanks to Vanessa and Dee for helping me to keep my smile big and bright...and a special thanks to Ramon who gave me a discount because I referred someone plus he made sure I followed my treatment plan correctly... I would highly recommend anyone who is in need of a dentist and wants to be completely 100% satisfied with their results. Positive experience: The staff seems to be nice. However, after being evaluated I was giving a co-pay and when I ask what the code was to make sure I'm paying the correct fee I actually had $0 co-pay according to the code and my insurance. When I showed the guy that it's $0 he then changed the code and give me a co-pay. When I ask why you changed the code he claimed that he had it wrong. No you did not. You rob me because the first code was $0. You wanted extra money that's why you suddenly change it. I'm never going back because had I payed you without asking first you would of took my money and everything would have been fine. By my verifying my own fees you changed it!!! BAD BUSINESS AND I'M ANGRY!! I would like to thank TLC dental for the quick response towards my previous situation and correcting the situation. Business here isn't so bad after all. Thank you very much for reaching out to me and making sure that my fees were in fact corrected.

Fantastic experience: My husband and I went to TLC for the first time this week and cannot believe the experience we both had. He had a tooth extracted ad I had a temporary crown put on. Everyone was s very caring and gentle. cold not believe how helpful they were No one likes to go to the dentist, but I know for a fact that I wont be anxious the next time I have t go , which is net Friday Thank you for a your help and caring I feel that we now have new friends in Florida.

Negative experience: They are friendly, but How do I pass the recommendations and just get the preventives that my insurance pays for? Whenever I go for a simple clean up, I end up with a paper giving me a payment plan, NO CLEAN UP. it' is frustrating. I appreciate the recommendations, but how about giving me the choice of choosing what you recommend and what my PPO plan pays for!
