Fantastic experience: The entire staff was very nice and helpful. I saw Dr. Gill for my consultation for braces. He gave me his recommendations and I was satisfied with it. I was ready to move forward after that. The gentlemen that put my braces on was very gentle and I was happy with my results. I will be returning in 6 weeks to get the bottom put on.

Fantastic experience: If I could give this place 50 stars, I'd find a way to add a zero. I've spent my whole life being that person who white-knuckles the armrest at the mere mention of "dentist," but Brightnow Dental in Sanford made a total convert out of me. My first root canal and crown, and it was somehow easier than picking a lunch order. Everyone on staff was warm, welcoming, and genuinely good at their jobs. And Catherine? An absolute rockstar. If you're dreading a dental visit like I was, this is the place that fixes that. -Squirrel

Negative experience: Since this dental office changed to a new dentist, the management has become very disorganized. It feels like the focus has shifted from patient care to finding ways to charge patients more. I have the same dental insurance and received the same routine cleaning service. In February, my out-of-pocket cost was $130. When I returned in June for the same cleaning, I was told that I would have to pay $400. After I questioned the charge and asked for an explanation, the bill was suddenly reduced to $280. I was told that the difference was due to a “system update.” It’s difficult to understand how the exact same procedure with the exact same insurance coverage could go from $130 to $400, and then drop to $280 after I raised concerns. This lack of transparency and consistency in billing is very disappointing. Patients deserve clear, accurate, and honest pricing without having to challenge their bills. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I can no longer recommend this office to friends and family. I also want to share another experience that has left me deeply disappointed. About two and a half years ago, during a routine cleaning visit, I had no pain or discomfort with this tooth. However, the dentist told me that I needed a crown, and I trusted their professional recommendation and agreed to proceed. What concerned me was that the crown appeared to be placed by a very inexperienced assistant. Shortly after the procedure, I developed a nerve infection in that tooth and was later told that I needed a root canal treatment. As a result, I ended up spending approximately $3,000 on additional dental work that I had never expected to need. Now, only two and a half years later, the new dentist at the same office has informed me that this crown needs to be replaced. I was also told that my insurance will not cover the replacement, meaning I have to pay out of pocket again. It’s incredibly frustrating to be told that a crown recommended by this office, which led to significant additional treatment and expenses, now needs to be redone after such a short period of time. I trusted this practice to provide quality care and sound professional judgment, but my experience has left me questioning both.

Negative experience: Hello, i am writing to express my bad experience from my recent visit back on 2-6-2026. I went for a routine cleaning and had a number of issues that didnt even begin on my appointment day. A week before i was called to reschedule my appointment because they said they had a new system and had overbooked so they were moving people around. I had taken time for this appointment but honestly i SHOULD HAVE just canceled. They ended up leaving me on and said they would call someone else to see if they could move. On my appointment day i was waiting in the lobby for 40 minutes after i checked. The system had just changed, so i understand a small wait but to just sit there so long with no update is ridiculous. After asking the staff how much longer until i will be seen, the staff said it would be soon but they are running behind. I asked if i could just be refunded and cancel my appointment for the time-being, however the manager on duty said they could but it would take about 2-3 weeks until the refund would show because it is through another system. After i said yes i still want to cancel, she walked off and i guess she arranged for me to be seen right then as a staff member then promptly opened the door and called my name. There was no urgency to have me be seen until I wanted to cancel and be refunded. Once brought back, i was seen by the hygienist, Joe, who although friendly, he seemed to be very stressed out and in a rush. He almost forgot to floss my teeth until i reminded him. I felt like he really just rushed through and i didn't feel very taken care of. After i finished, i was given the wrong invoice for a different customer so i had to ask for the correct one. Once reviewing the invoice at home, i realized that what i was billed for was very over priced. I was charged D0431 adjunctive pre diagnostic test, oral cancer screening, something that was already done at my prior exam in august. I was also charged 4x for the D4921 gingival irrigation with a medicinal agent per quadrant. I was never told either of those things were OPTIONAL. I expect that as a provider, you should be transparent in what it is that you are doing and why. Why wasn't this explained to me when the treatment plan was presented? I called the office as soon as i got home to express my disappointment and ask for more information regarding my treatment plan and the front desk person who picked up said she doesn't know anything about treatment plans and that it is automated in their system. She said she couldn’t explain it to me because she didn't know how it worked. She said she would try and see if someone was available to explain it to me but she just came back on the phone and proceeded to explain what she just told me she didn't understand . I told her it was deceptive and disingenuous to ask for payment on items i didn't know were optional and she said i already paid so why wasnt it brought up before, the dr recommended it so they added it on. The dr can recommend whatever they want but to not explicitly communicate something is optional is still deceptive.I don't really see the relevance of that question as i can still ask about service after they claimed to provide it. Considering the hygienist had to be reminded to floss me i don't even know that i received any “gingival agent” or oral cancer exam. Nothing was explained to me. I asked to speak with the manager but she was unavailable. The front desk took my number down and said i would receive a call back in a couple days. Apparently the manager did not care as i havent heard back from the clinic to date. I will never go back and will never recommend anyone to go there unless they want a subpar experience complete with poor management, poor scheduling, an untrained front office , stressed staff and a high bill.

Negative experience: I had a very disappointing experience with this dentist. A crown was placed on a tooth that was already decayed and broken, and the underlying issue was not properly addressed. I trusted that the treatment would fix the problem, but instead I was left with ongoing concerns and zero real help afterward. I felt rushed and unheard when I tried to explain what was happening. Dental work is expensive and serious, and patients deserve clear communication and proper care — not shortcuts. I would strongly recommend getting a second opinion before agreeing to major work here. Unfortunately, this experience caused more stress and problems than solutions.

Fantastic experience: We have been patients here for many years. Every visit has been a positive experience. Joe has always been our hygienist, but they have added another one to help with Joe’s workload. They are both very gentle and thorough. Joanne, the office manager has been amazing in helping us solve our dental insurance issues. We love going there!

Negative experience: Total lack of professionalism and zero respect for patients' time. I booked an appointment for Thursday, 1/29 at 1:00 PM. The day before, the receptionist specifically called and asked me to arrive early to fill out paperwork. I went out of my way to get there 20 minutes ahead, only to find the door locked with a sign reading "office close til 1". I was forced to wait outside in the cold despite being told to be there at that exact time. When they finally unlocked the door (a few minutes past 1:00), the experience only got more bizarre. The office had been closed for a training session, and said training session was still ongoing in the open, and all patients in the waiting room could fully see and hear the entire meeting. It was incredibly awkward and unprofessional. After signing in, I sat for another 10–15 minutes before I was even handed the paperwork I was told to come early for. By 1:40 PM—40 minutes past my scheduled appointment time—I still hadn't been called back. Not a single staff member offered an apology for the delay. I eventually had to reschedule and leave. When I called a few days later to cancel my future appointment, I was met with a rude receptionist and more poor customer service. Perhaps they should spend their next training session on basic courtesy and schedule management. I wouldn’t trust this office to handle a cleaning, let alone anything more serious.

Fantastic experience: I had all of my wisdom teeth removed here, and I was honestly very scared because they don't use laughing gas or put you to sleep -just local numbing. I'm a big baby and definitely cried, but Dr. Lopez was incredibly patient and caring. He checked on me constantly throughout the entire procedure and made sure I was okay. His dental assistant (I'm so sorry I forgot her name!!) was also so sweet and talked me through everything the doctor was doing, which really helped calm my nerves. I truly appreciate how kind and understanding they both were. Joana at the front desk was also amazing- she took the time to explain my treatment plan and clearly break down the costs so I knew exactly what I was paying for.

Negative experience: I was due for my 6 month cleaning, had an insurance change so had to come to this place . . . never again! I made the appointment online called and confirmed my insurance info told them I was due for my cleaning. Arrive there and was greeted by a very courteous and informative receptionist. She mentions they will evaluate me and see what type of cleaning I need, I said just a regular cleaning she replies "the hygienist will let you know if you need a deep cleaning" that was my warning. I went to the back did the panoramic xray and bitewing xrays. Let her know I had some pain in my wisdom teeth. Hygienist comes and measures my gums, I already been through this before and know what the outcome is, however here's where it gets scammy . . . I now need a deep cleaning for the deep pockets, first time ever. I thought it was strange and tell him what my last dentist did for several years. Then I need all 3 wisdom teeth removed and HAVE TO add bone graft! I google and chat GPT their diagnosis read a couple of reviews and messages about bone grafts not being necessary when wisdom teeth are pulled. They continue to try and convince me otherwise and say it's up to the patient. After some time I decide to just get a regular cleaning and the extractions, the hygienist out right refuses. I asked him 3xs to be sure "Are you denying me service because I only want a regular cleaning" he responds yes I have to follow business standards and I could go some place else, smh and then he uses a car analogy when you go for repairs to which I said and I pick and choose what I want to repair with my money and when I want to do the repairs. He didn't like that so I left as to not waste anymore of my time. If you read through the reviews they have the same sentiment . . . coercing patients into unnecessary procedures so they can make money slyly saying I can lower the price on XYZ like I'm talking to a sales person not a person in healthcare! Nice try!

Negative experience: The service is awful. I had a consultation appointment to start orthodontic treatment. My appointment was at 8:30 in the morning, I arrived at 8:15, and by 9:15 they still hadn't called me. During the entire waiting time, they never called me to take x-rays, only after they realized I had left. I don't recommend them; they don't inspire confidence.

Negative experience: My wife and I went here separately on different days. Both appointments were about an hour late. During my appointment a man came and sat with me to apologize. I tried to reschedule since he said someone was on vacation or something and they were not interested. Waited another 15 minutes or so. Went back and did an exam fairly quick and quoted me $150 ish for a cleaning and were really pressing me to schedule it even though I made it clear I was no longer interested. They insisted I needed a deep cleaning which in no way was the case. My wife's deep cleaning was more than that quote. Why the number was different I don't know. After all that I had to pay a $10 co-pay as my wife did and they pretended to take off and not charge me fees that didn't exist.

Negative experience: Butchers! after a year I still can't eat hot or cold without feeling pain! I've never missed visiting a dentist twice a year for 40 years (required in the Air Force). Ended having all filling replaced within one month plus one fillings was poorly done (1st time I've experienced this), Dr. Carolyn Tho Nguyen immediately accusatory yelled "YOU PROBABLY CHIPPED IT...YOU SHOULD HAVE COMED TO THE OFFICE SOONER" without any care for the condition I was currently under, even after clearly mentioning I was in pain with a headache due to the tooth. I broke in tears from the amount of pain I was under in addition to the elevated emotional state of Dr. Carolyn Tho Nguyen yelling at me. Weeks earlier when I thought there was something wrong, I called the office and was told a sensitivity was normal. I'm not a dentist how would I know the filling was defective. Dr. Carolyn Tho Nguyen then reworked the filling and used a different porcelain tone not matching tooth in addition to tooth not being finished smoothly on the front surface. 5 Days after the 2nd visit I was prescribed antibiotics by ER due to infection. This dentist not only butchered my tooth and caused an infection due to malpractice, now after 2 days of meds my ears finally stop hurting. My teeth are still sensitive, and I've been eating broth for a week. This is all happening to someone who's never missed a dentist appointment in their life.

Negative experience: Tried this place since I moved to Sanford back in 2024. I had been going to another dentist routinely getting cleanings every six months, no problems. I have a great dental routine. I come here and get an exam and they go through a list of everything I need done, I decline most of it but they recommend I get a deep cleaning. I question why and I go through it anyways. I get the deep cleaning and a couple days later I have sores all over my mouth, I can barely eat anything. Apparently they are supposed to give you a special mouthwash after a deep cleaning and they FORGOT to so my gums got infected. This place just wants your money like any other big corporation. I started going back to my old local (not corporate) dentist office and I tell them about what happen and they tell me you did not need a deep cleaning, your teeth are in great shape. This all happened in 2024. The last time I went to Bright Now was June 2024, it is now August 2025 and I get a bill in the mail from Bright Now for $55, they claim the insurance takes some time to process. 14 months later and you send me a bill!? Please go to a locally owned Dentist, not this big corporation that wants nothing but your money.

Negative experience: Office Staff are nice and friendly the dentist however treats you like you’re not even a person. Made my extraction traumatizing. Very rough and man handling. I was visibly upset and in pain and he didn’t even stop to ask if I was okay. I will not recommend this office in the future. Dentist should be kind and care about their patients. This dentist treats you like an assembly line with no care.

The dental hygienist was nice and educated me on everything he was going and after explained the meaning of his medical jargon.

Negative experience: I am a fairly new patient. This was my 3rd appointment. Went in for emergency appointment due to cracked and broken tooth. Instead of the simple extraction I needed ($13.20 with insurance) the dentist attempted to force me to accept other services (bone graft, implant) which I had no interest in doing AND would raise my out of pocket to over $500. Because I would not accept their offer for “other services” they refused to address the dental emergency and sent me to an oral surgeon which had no appointments until Monday. They took X-rays on my initial visit and again at yesterday’s appointment however when I was referred to the oral surgeon I had to call and ask for my X-rays . Now I’m in so much pain because the tooth is literally broken and hanging by a thread in my mouth. When I called for the emergency appointment I was vacationing in Tampa and I shared that information. I rushed back frantically because I knew the tooth needed to be removed. I had bitten down on something the night before and I heard and felt it crack plus it was wiggling like a loose tooth. They get a ZERO for compassion and respecting their patients wishes and the inhumane treatment is impressive. I will not be returning to this facility. And to think I was considering taking my twin daughters with special needs here. Unreal

Fantastic experience: I usually compare dentists to mechanics—you’re never sure what to expect—but that wasn’t the case here. I woke up with a cracked tooth, called at 8 a.m., and they got me in right away. The first nurse (wish I remembered her name) was kind and knowledgeable and advised me on what to do along with Joanne. Joanne, the MVP, helped guide me through the treatment plan and financing with along with Theresa. Dr. Martinez and Catharine did their thing and were great to deal with. I usually hate going to the dentist, but they made it a genuinely pleasant experience! I’d recommend 10/10

Negative experience: BEWARE THIS IS A SCAM PLACE!! husband had exam they said he needed a $2,000 deep clean and a $1700 crown. Went to a different dentist for 2nd opinion. He has a small cavity that needs filling and dentist said deep cleaning could damage his gums. Dentist said a crown?!? For what? You want to keep your natural teeth as much as possible. Yet, bright now was trying to drill his tooth down to nothing and charge for a crown that isn’t even needed. This place gonna get a class action lawsuit soon if they keep this up. Not to mention there was hair, long strands of hair on the chair. I had to ask for them to clean the chair before my husband took a seat. Not clean either.

Negative experience: I had returned from a bad experience I had the first time I went there a few years ago, the Orthodontics had hurt my gums and a tooth while cleaning, My wife likes it there so she asked me to give it another chance since our insurance has no providers in our area in Deland. I made the appointment, arrived early and they could not find my records, so I had to start all over again, it took an hour just on paperwork, than they couldn't find my insurance information, so I had to call the insurance, after another 1/2 hour waiting apparently they confirmed my insurance info., but no one told me that the insurance was confirmed, so I waited almost another hour, until I asked. They were very rude to answer but that they would see me. Than I was taken X-rays and found that my front bottom teeth had root canals done in the past, so I was advised to have them removed and fitted with permanent teeth and that would cost $15K, but they would do it for $10K, no cleaning was done, no plans, no options. So nothing was done except the X-rays and the co-pay. Since the X-Rays were done by them, I have to return and request for a cleaning.

Fantastic experience: Returning patient from years ago. Great experience today from beginning to end. I haven’t had the best experience in dentist offices and was very nervous, they made me feel at ease and was able to calm my nerves. From front office staff to clinical staff, all around pleasant experience!!! Thank you!

Negative experience: I gave this place one star because it doesn't deserve more. The dentist was rude. Sat behind me, didn't introduce himself at all. Told his assistant more than he told me. Then told me what he was going to do and was annoyed when asked a question. I didn't understand what he said. Silly me! I thought it was MY mouth and that I had a right to ask questions about procedures. His office staff, especially TERRY, were professional, friendly. A "consultant" told me she was there to answer ANY questions. Hmmm, isn't the dentist supposed to do that? I was livid and walked out and will never voluntarily walk back in

Fantastic experience: Jessica is awesome!!! I just wanted to “shout out” Jessica for her professional service. She did a great job assisting my daughter with her Orthodontic appointment. We have been coming here for almost two years and absolutely love the entire team. I highly recommend this location.

Fantastic experience: I accompanied my daughter to bright now dental, because her original crown fell out of her mouth, the staff are all very nice and welcoming, being that we have no dental insurance Joanna perry was so nice and understanding she helped us and we were able to find a resolution, the dentist was very nice and started the process on fixing the problem. As everyone knows dental procedures are very expensive especially if u don't have dental insurance, but Joanna perry and staff were very understanding and kind , and really helped us! Thank you Bright now Dental.. I will definitely recommend you guys, for anyone looking for a dentist they even try to accommodate emergencies.

Fantastic experience: Went in for an emergency and was treated so kindly by all the staff. Joanna was such an angel, and genuinely cared about my comfort and safety. Dr Martinez-Lopez was also extremely kind and knowledgeable, and also helped me with any questions or anxiety I had regarding the process and following procedures. Overall, the staff were all great and I couldn’t be happier knowing I’m under such amazing care!
