Aspen Dental - St. Johns, FL (Pavilion at Durbin Park)

Fantastic experience: This was my first time ever at a dentist and I was really nervous, but they made me feel so comfortable from the moment I walked in. Dr. Merville was amazing and so gentle, and Angel, Leela, and Noora took such good care of me. The whole procedure was smooth and easy. I recommend them to everyone! Truly so grateful to the whole team for taking such good care of me.

Fantastic experience: I came to Aspen Dental in the St. Johns location for a second opinion because the treatment plan I received from my previous dentist just didn’t seem right to me. I explained my previous experience to the staff, and from the moment I walked in, everyone made me feel comfortable and welcome. Dr. Nguyen took the time to really listen to my concerns, answer my questions, and educate me on what was actually going on. I never felt rushed or pressured, which made a big difference. I’m glad I came in for a second opinion, and I’ll definitely be sticking with Aspen Dental and Dr. Nguyen moving forward. Great experience all around!

They made him feel completely at ease. To top it off, as an uninsured patient, the entire visit—exam, X-rays, extraction, and medication—was right around $300. I almost let bad reviews turn me away, but I am so grateful we came. A truly compassionate practice!"

Negative experience: Well I feel like I should have been asked by your office if I had been drinking alcohol . I would have answered you correctly just as I did when you have the police show up after you already numbed my mouth . I wasn’t acting out nor was I drunk . Yes I had a drink at lunch. You guys don’t use laughing gas and I needed to relax. So now you have cost me more pain for not doing the extraction and 25.00 that I didn’t have to uber myself home . To have to uber again to pick up my vehicle. All your office had to say is PHAVE YOU DRANK ANY ALCOHOL TODAY IF SO WE CAN’T DO THE TOOTH EXTRACTION . I would have totally understood and rescheduled. Thanks for THE DRAMA AND EXTRA MONEY YOU COST ME FOR NOT COMING STRAIT TO THE patient . You should take better safety precautions before involving the police.

Fantastic experience: Everyone has been super nice to me here. It’s been maybe 6 years since I’ve been to the dentist because I’m actually terrified and have a fear of the dentist from past traumas. They made me feel so welcomed.

Fantastic experience: Aspen office staff is welcoming and friendly. Dr Marville explained very clear my situation and gave me the best options to fulfill my dental needs.

Fantastic experience: Everyone was super nice. Maybe too nice, as I was just going in on a Saturday to see if a crown that popped off could be glued back on... or if I could wait to see my regular dentist after the weekend. They did a full gum exam and took X-rays. Then I received a bill for $260.

Negative experience: The team is amazing everyone great The girls front desk is fantastic so I was treated with such kindness and warmth; the dentists and assistants were incredibly polite and attentive! However, the one thing I didn't like was being charged over $1,500 just for a deep cleaning—I found that absolutely absurd, and that is why I didn't go back. The team, though, was amazing. If you are short of money for pay $1500 is better going to another office

Negative experience: I have been experiencing extreme pain with my wisdom teeth , I booked an appointment online and called first thing next morning to inform them of what was going on and explain that I had a copy of my X-rays . I was informed if I could come into my visit early I would be able to have them removed that day . Once I got to my visit I was informed they could do it and give me sedation as well but they made me repeat the process of seeing a different doctor and having an exam to which I waited over an hour for the process and to see the front desk to speak about finance options for the removal . When I finally got everything over I was informed that the doctor could not do sedation and would only do localized numbing ( to which I had already informed them I was allergic to) and if I did not want that I’d have to wait a month to schedule. So overall I wasted my time for this whole visit as well as the driver they repeatedly told me I’d have to get to bring me home . DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE . There was no sympathy from the front desk lady or any of the staff.

Negative experience: Totally incompetent staff. Had an appointment 2 weeks ago, and was told we would get a call back the same day with an estimate of services needed. I've called 3 times and each time been told they are working on it, with no estimate of time. This time they finally had the info, and the manager admitted she's had it a couple of days but they apparently don't know how to use the phone to call people back.

Negative experience: This review is for this location and for the location on southside Boulevard. I had a slightly better interaction here. Initially, I went to Aspen on southside Boulevard where I was met with complete unprofessionalism from both the staff and their ability to perform services. I experienced so much pain that I transferred to this location for them to finish my root canal. Please note I’ve had a root canal before and never faced any of these issues now a year later and my tooth is still in pain. Initially, I was pregnant when I receive my root canal so when I went back and complained about still feeling pain, they said that my gums are probably still sensitive because I’m pregnant. I went back after I gave birth and continued to complain about the pain. They did x-rays and said that they didn’t see anything wrong with the root canal.. My tooth constantly gets food stuck underneath the root canal and I know that it’s slowly killing the tooth more although they denied they’re being anything wrong with the placement of my crown. I received this procedure a year ago. I am now eight months postpartum and my tooth still has pain after I eat every time. I’ve given them time to rectify the situation and no one seems to see a problem. Again, I’ve had a root canal before, and I have not faced any of these problems. The only reason I gave two stars is because the staff is more professional than the staff on southside. However, I am completely dissatisfied with the work done on my tooth. I feel like it would have been better just to take it out completely

Negative experience: Overall facility is clean and staff is good. However I wanted regular cleaning, they suggested deep cleaning that will cost me more $500 out of pocket and refused to provide me regular cleaning . They were more focused and getting me to agree for deep cleaning and RCT and crown.

Negative experience: I am very unhappy with the appointment I had today,My appointment was at 10 am and they didn’t call me back till 11:00 and the lady was 11:37 and the dentist said be back in 10 minutes for my filling and came back at 12:37,I had no updates the whole time i was waiting!!

Negative experience: Called at 630 pm to cancel my teeth cleaning after I gave them a $800 deposit Customer Service is not what it should be Not to mention the 4.5 hours for whatever I was there for before and needed $1600 to clean my teeth and keep my money for over a month crap go somewhere else

Negative experience: Called before I went in, spoke to the person at the desk about what I needed, they proceeded to do everything but what I needed done and after 2 hours told me the person who needed to do what I needed was out sick. They did everything to bill my insurance company but take care of my needs! Do not go to this dental clinic!

Negative experience: My appointment was scheduled for 9:00 AM, and I was called back around 9:30. The dental assistants were quick, efficient, and communicated well, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, I ended up leaving at 10:30 because the dentist was significantly backed up. I wasn’t given any updates about the delay, so I wasn’t sure what was happening. When the dentist did come by, he mentioned that I hadn’t been forgotten, but at that point I had already been waiting an hour. I understand that delays happen, but I would have appreciated being informed and given the option to reschedule rather than continuing to wait without communication. I’ve never experienced a wait this long at a dental office. It’s disappointing to write this because my family uses Aspen, but this review is specifically regarding the Durbin Park location. My husband has also had a less-than-positive experience there. I hope this feedback helps improve communication and scheduling moving forward.

Negative experience: Can I give it a zero?! The hygenist was very nasty upon my first encounter. Then she was very rough with me she then became very abrupt and condescending. I was getting ready to walk out and she told me to hold on a minute. The manager came in and told me that I can go to another location without hearing what I had to say. I asked her if she had cameras that recorded our interaction. She told me they did not. I told her Aspen dental needed to.

Negative experience: My husband had a recent experience. They do not honor other office’s agreements. They tried to have us redo an entire service which should have been under warranty. They lie, cheat and steal. False advertising is what they do. Shout out to Harbour Dental. They are all over and service is great. More importantly they fixed Aspens mess for 1000.00 dollars less. Shop around!!

Negative experience: I scheduled an appointment for noon on a Saturday two weeks prior for a checkup and cleaning for my daughter. I give them my insurance information the Wednesday before the appointment. 3 hours before our appt Saturday morning, I receive a text we need to reschedule the appointment, so I call they say they didn’t process my insurance but can see us today but will not know how much it will cost. After we arrive they do the X-rays but can’t do the cleaning because they close at 1pm. No one mentioned this previously they give me a bill for $1739.00 that is not itemized and tell me they will need to set up appts for the cleaning on Monday. Very unprofessional experience.

Positive experience: I required dental services, while on vacation here in St John's. From the first phone call to needing to resend my prescription to another pharmacy. The staff at this location were extremely helpful. During a stressful experience, while on vacation. In the future, I would not hesitate to use this location. And because I visit the area multiple times a year. Most likely will be a secondary office to the one in the state where I live.

I don't know what happened, but they seem to be getting scheduling wrong a lot lately. I'd have my appointment scheduled months in advance, then they'd call 2-3 days before the appointment to let me know they either overbooked or whatever the reason. When I call them back, no one answers, and you're asked to leave a voicemail. I leave a voicemail to reschedule, and no one calls back. I come to this place for convenience as it's close to where I live, but I cannot handle any more schedule mishaps.

Negative experience: Idk what happened to Aspen- used to be very convenient if I remember correctly they even advertised their stores as the best option because they were open “night and weekends” Now, hours are limited so it’s hard to schedule if you also work full time. Closing very early on Fridays and only working one Saturday a month? When trying to schedule for that single Saturday opening the clerk told me she “wasn’t sure what date they will be open for next month yet” didn’t even offer to call back when she got the schedule ‍♀️ Update: Finally got scheduled for the Saturday date by calling the office, only for them to call the next day and cancel the appointment because they won’t actually be open. Not sure if it’s just this office but they seem highly uncoordinated.

Positive experience: Everything was easy and great until the extraction, the guy never explained what he was going to do or how, just did it. Hurt like hell but that was from the infection, if he would of explained the process I would have been ready for the pain parts.

Fantastic experience: Absolute life savers! I had a very bad tooth that needed to be extracted immediately. I dont have insurance at the moment and im not rich either, they were able to give me a discount and great price on an extraction. I was in so much pain. They were so sweet and patient with me. Was able to get me in at the end of the day to get me out of pain. I am so happy and feel so much better now. You want caring and sweet people and doctors. This is the place. I highly recommend.

Negative experience: Went there for braces, fake fitting 2 o’clock appointment did not seem professional place was not exactly clean. Definitely a subpar dentistry. If you can even call that we ended up walking out after an hour of not seeing the doctor.

Negative experience: I have.a wisdom tooth that needs to come out. It is loose and uncomfortable. I never had a cavity in my life and I like to think I keep a nice smile and take care of my dental hygiene. This is now the second t went to Aspen and once again there concerns had nothing to do with why I came came in. Sure they give you free Xrays and a treatment plan if you want to call it that . It’s more like a cattle shoot and they have only one thing that matters to them and that’s MONEY. I felt like I was being examined by a calculator. The last time I was there they depleted my Spendables account that my insurance let me have and charged my insurance company for work that was not done. They actually presented financial numbers as if I was buying a car and gave me terms for deep clean and gum maintenance The only thing getting deep cleaned was my wallet !! I sold cars for a long time and upselling is where and how the dealership keeps the lights on etc. Aspen Dental does not care about cleaning your teeth but only cares about cleaning your clock! I ran out of there woth the mask on etc. Very disappointed.

Negative experience: Spent a hour and a half in the chair after paying $225 for a cleaning. Was diagnosed with the need of a deep cleaning at over a thousand dollars. I could not afford that and received nothing for my time or money. Working on getting a refund

Negative experience: I scheduled an appointment due to a bad tooth ache, one may say “dental emergency”. I had an appointment scheduled for this afternoon 3/6/25 at 4:30pm. I had multiple people from Aspen contact me asking if I could come in early, that they had some cancellations. I was unable to respond because of work. When I did go to respond, I see I have a text and email notifying me they cancelled my 4:30pm appointment. I was unable to come in early regardless due to my work obligations. Again they were made aware the urgency of the situation upon scheduling. Yet I am notified 3.5 hours prior to my appointment that it has been canceled, I was provided no reason at all aside from the help desk saying “sorry”.

Fantastic experience: Vary nice place. I had an emergency and they got me right in. Took vary good care of me. Gave me options, moving forward, but wasn't pushing for a decision right away. I recommend this place.

Fantastic experience: I have experienced very bad anxiety at the dentist for the past few years. At Aspen Dental everyone is so nice and calm & today was the first time I wasn’t anxious at all.

Positive experience: Great Dentist. My experience was good. Only thing is had to way to many numbing shots. Was very uncomfortable but after that was smooth and pain free.

Negative experience: I’ve been a patient at this office for years without much issue, but my recent experience has been incredibly disappointing. Due to an error on their part, my insurance information fell out of their system, and they continued sending billing notices to an old address they had on file. Instead of making any effort to call or email me directly, they sent my account to a debt collector. When I discovered this issue, I immediately reached out to resolve it. However, even after multiple calls, they continue to put the responsibility on me to follow up and check when the insurance will be reprocessed. There has been a complete lack of accountability and proactive communication on their end. I have never been sent to a debt collector and this whole process is concerning. A long-standing patient should not be treated like this over a simple administrative error. The lack of customer service and empathy throughout this process has been extremely frustrating and disappointing.

Fantastic experience: This location was awesome. From Check in to Check out. The staff is amazing. Dedicated, knowledgeable, caring, understanding with a personality to match. This is a judge-free place. They made it their duty to fulfill your needs and exceed expectations. I went in for my 1st check up/exam ... And left with having my 1st treatment completed and having a referral as well for orthodontist. Now I know the Dentist is a scary word and dentistry work is a scary thing but the staff is so warm, friendly, and help you thru the whole process. I would hands down recommend this location. Negative experience: Had a dental emergency on a weekend (of course), called Aspen and the very nice lady made me an appt at a nearby office within 30 minutes. Great! I raced over there, distraught and anxious, only to be told by the receptionist that they were closed. But the door was open and someone was in the waiting room. It was pretty obvious that they wanted to cut out early and they forgot to tell their call center. They had absolutely no concern for me or my emergency. Thanks, Aspen! Hope you get the same treatment when you’re in need!

Fantastic experience: The doctors and the technicians were at the office the day after thanksgiving, I am so happy they were there for me . I would recommend Aspen dental because they tighten up my one implant so I could eat. Doctor Booth saw it was done by them years ago, and they honored the work and didn't charge me. Negative experience: Don’t waste your time with this place. Made an appointment three days ago, drove all the way there for my appointment only to be told they cancelled my appointment because I didn’t respond to one of their confirmation calls. I made the appointment three days ago??? My plans weren’t going to change within three days. And the crazy thing is they are supposed to accept Walk-ins too??? And the front desk person is not helpful at all Please don’t waste your time

Negative experience: I made an appointment 3 days ago. I turned up today on time and was told by the rude receptionist that they canceled my appointment because I did not confirm it. I explained I only made it 3 days ago, so I assume it was confirmed. I was not offered another appointment even though they have openings on their website. Awful way to treat patients.

Negative experience: One of the worst experience with this Dental office. First appointment ; made to wait for an hour just to be informed that they are short staff & to come back at later day. 2nd appointment on 11/21 at 10 am; waited 45 mins outside and after follow up, made me sit inside saying doctor would be in 5 mins by Mandy but nobody showed up for another 45 mins. I got up and asked for refund of my co pay amount and to which Mandy said it would be adjusted against next visit. She also said I have to pay 60% deposit for my cleaning in advance because patients doesn’t show up. I said I have showed up twice and what about my time and if I would be compensated to which she said no, this is our company policy. Horrible customer service and Manager Mandy. Don’t go here ! You will waste your time and money. They still owe me my co pay amount.

Negative experience: Went to this Dentist a year ago. I had an emergency broken tooth. After they forced me to do all the exams and x-rays, I had to beg them to fix the problem. My insurance wasn't accepted so I got sucked into their discount program. It just auto-renewed, without my permission, for $39. I chased them and got the money back ..just for them to send an email saying they are taking $39 in November 2025 whether I like it or not. There are lots of dentists around here, go somewhere else.

Fantastic experience: I was completely impressed with the staff at Aspen Sara greeted me and took care of me before being introduced to the hygenist and doctor. Everything was explained to me in detail. I would recommend to anyone looking for a dentist. I felt at ease and comfortable throughout the entire visit. Mandy walked me through the finacial part after going over the treatment and procedures i will be having done.

Positive experience: Had to wait for my appointment but employee notified me and kept me posted. I had a thorough examination and felt confident about my treatment plan. Must mention that music in offices was very loud and in my opinion not an appropriate genre for all age groups

Fantastic experience: This was the best dentist i have been to in a while. Everyone was so nice to me!! Sara did my check up and it was super easy and gave me all the information i needed to know. She was very funny and sweet to me. Doctor Booth and Mandy also really helped me out and gave me all the information i need to know!! I 100% will be returning to this aspen dental!! I would highly recommend going here!!
