Negative experience: I made the big mistake of taking my elderly mother here to have some denture work done. Whoever owns this place needs to get far better people than Tyler Houwman, DDS. It's fairly routine work for someone that's doing their best work & is qualified to do it. I think I could probably do it with the correct equipment. I don't know if with about 1 year of experience that he was really qualified to do this work or not, but he took the appointment knowing what the task was. We've never had any problems anywhere else, but first he was unable to get one screw out, claiming it was at a weird angle, if you can't figure out how to get the screws out, you can't do the work required and promised. Then, in my opinion based on observation (I watched him crank and crank on one of the screws until the head broke off by doing multiple 1/3 turns on it). I did have an issue with the Sullivans @ Northeast Lincoln Family Dentistry, so he may have been intentionally screwing us over for what might be his friends there, which would be highly unprofessional and unethical. Of course as with a lot of college grads, he came up with excuses, supposedly the screw was at "some weird angle", then supposedly the nearly new screw may have been put in too many times, in reality once or twice. I can't read his mind, so I can't say for certain it was intentional, but I have enough evidence that I can say that is my personal opinion. He also had some "opinions" that I doubt his one year of experience really makes him qualified for, in my opinion, he should spend a few years as an assistant watching professionals do it and then try being a dentist. It's his opinion that the person that put the implants in should do the work. But the actual practice involves restorative dentists, so that opinion is incorrect. It all started ridiculously, they new exactly what we were there for and they worked very hard to try to stretch it out to multiple visits and not do what the appointment was for. So my strong suggestion is to look elsewhere for dental work. It cost us another $500 to fix the mess he created and would have been totally unnecessary if he had completed the work successfully. They actually billed us too.

Negative experience: Terrible clinic !! I wish I could give them a zero star cause the don’t even deserve that. I used to be a patient there for over a year and had nothing from but troubles!! They discriminated against us and they over charged us and they even threatened me to do things which I was not willing to do!! For example they told me that they have to do a deep cleaning of my teeth and when I told them that I didn’t want to they said they will dismiss me if I don’t do that so I did reluctantly. And when they did the first side of my mouth they charged me $240 and my insurance covered 70% of that! That means they charged me any insurance almost a thousand $ for just one side! And I swear I was unable to eat for couple days because of the pain in my mouth and the pain of TM joint lasted at least a week and again I told them that I didn’t want to go for cleaning the other side but again they said they won’t be able to see me as a patient anymore and will dismiss me if I don’t do the other side which I did again and they charged me for the same amount as last time or even more cause I can’t remember exactly but I’m positive it was $240-260 and same pain experience like last time! About 5 months later they sent a bill with my wife saying that your husband owe us $590 for the deep cleaning we done for him!!! When I called them and told them that I didn’t pay almost $500 for the both appointments and wanted them to explain to me what was for . They did not and they said I still owe them that above amount without telling me what was for and they threatened me that if I don’t pay them the amount they will dismiss me and they will send the amount to the collection agency!! I did pay them the amount they asked for again .

Negative experience: After scheduling my appointment for November 21st six months ago I am told today, the 3rd, that they will not be open on the day of my appointment. When asking to reschedule their next opening isn't until February. I understand the holiday season is tough to find staff but waiting another 3 months, c'mon.

Positive experience: This business has a good dentist. There is some miscommunication between the front desk and the back where the back may promise no charge for a particular service, but the front goes ahead and bills out for that service anyway. This is a dentist's office that requires the patient to make two actions to make an appointment. First the initial appointment then a confirmation. A much simpler solution would be to bill the no-show patient not only for the lost time but also for lost revenue that might be made from a replacement patient. This would be a substantial fee and hopefully deter no-shows without penalizing the responsible patients by making them do two separate actions to make an appointment.

Negative experience: The dental hygienists and dentist is amazing at this location. I can’t say anything negative about them. They are awesome. However, I can’t say the same about the billing department. The staff in the billing area are nice but not very helpful. I was provided a quote on a deep cleaning service for which they said an estimate based on my insurance would cost me $401.80 out of pocket. When the service was complete, insurance was billed saying my responsibility was $150. The staff said that insurance underbid and that I would be responsible for the entire $1212 charge. However, according to my EOB’s Adams Dental submitted the $1212 charge to Ameritas. Ameritas said the network provider accepted that the fee reduces the charge to $356 (in network provider), the provider was sent a check for $284.80 and my responsibility was $71.20. Their initial estimate for the service was $401.80. I asked how none of the amounts were adding up. The front office lady said they really have no idea what insurance will or won’t cover in the estimate and their $401 estimate was a complete guess. If that’s the case, why wasn’t I told the service was going to cost $1212 and insurance might cover some so I could budget accordingly. That kind of discrepancy in pricing ($800) seems inaccurate at best and nefarious at worst. So beware on their quotes because they are a complete guess on their part and can result in some significant unexpected charges because you are responsible for all charges insurance doesn’t cover above and beyond your patient responsibility on your EOB.
