Fantastic experience: My two year-old‘s first dental appointment was a great experience. The staff did a great job of introducing him to the dentist.

Positive experience: EDIT: 2/11/26 I want to thank Amanda for reaching out and helping me with my insurance. I changed my rating from a 1 star to 3 for this reason. Thank you Amanda for taking the time to respond and reach out with accountability. It goes a long way and is appreciated. This was the worst customer service experience. Over the passed month I have called over 4 different times and left messages, as well as emailed multiple times to get my insurance cards input and my child's dental work scheduled after his cleaning. When I finally got someone on the phone and I explained my situation the employee simply asked, "Are you looking to reschedule or schedule?". There was zero acknowledgement of the unprofessionalism and a simple remark that they will let the employee who answers emails check for the insurance card (I had sent this 3-4 times already with zero response). After I scheduled my child's appointment, I emailed again to request a manager and the following phone call I received was an hour later confirming the appointment I just made! There is zero communication and accountability amongst the office staff. The practice has gone extremely downhill from when I first was introduced to Coastal Kids.

Fantastic experience: Always accommodating and easy process when visiting with them. Super glad for their patience as 4 of my kiddos are neurodivergent two being on the spectrum and get very anxious and scared about the dentist visits. But I’m thankful for staff that’s patient and really knows how to get their attention even when freaking out. And I couldn’t have imagined a more fun set up to distract the kids. You wouldn’t even know you stepped into a dentist office! ☺️

Fantastic experience: The nurse that cleaned his teeth was great. Made him very comfortable. The dentist was wonderful. Had his next appointment while he was being seen with those two. Most efficient staff.

Fantastic experience: The Techs was so patient with my 4 year Granddaughter, she comfort her assured her that she wasn't going to hurt hurt. She explained everything shes going to do to her, before doing it. The Receptionist was friendly and so was the doctor.

Negative experience: Made an appointment at 2pm and arrived at 150. It is now currently 240 and have not been called back. Have watched several families come and go that showed up after us. No explanation on why we haven’t been called. Might be my last time using coastal dentist.

Fantastic experience: Such a great practice! Everyone was so nice and efficient - the dentist, the hygienists, the front desk staff. I highly recommend this dental office!

Fantastic experience: Every person that we interacted with met us with a smile—they made our first dentist visit a BREEZE and worked so well with my toddler. Our hygienist was so nice and slow. She took the time to explain everything she was doing and make the visit exciting! My daughter was excited about the stickers and prizes they greeted her with and is excited for her next visit to the dentist!

Negative experience: This appointment 8\25 I was not impressed.... I arrived on time with 2 children with appointments back to back. The 1st at 8:30 the 2nd at 9:30. So instead of letting both kids go back at 8:30 we had 5 other kids go before us and are made to wait until 9:30 so just now leaving the appointment at 10 is unacceptable. Then to be jumped again at check out..... im not impressed at all. Let's see how the 1:00 appointment goes today.....

Negative experience: I usually have a good visit here but today one of the lady's that do the floride told my son to swallow it instead of spit it. My son felt so bad. SMH

Fantastic experience: They did a great job with my son. He becomes extremely anxious and nervous when it comes to just dental cleaning much less anything else. Coastal offered us a private room. Where it was just him, the tech., and the doctors. It was the first time that they were able to get everything done ( just basics w/ xrays) with no problems. It was the best appointment that we had ever had!

Fantastic experience: This office was great! My son usually doesn’t do that great at the dentist and this time from the moment we walked in the door he felt comfortable. Brooke, Mary and Frankie were a HUGE help in getting him through this appointment I’m so glad we transferred to this location!

Fantastic experience: Mandee Chamblee Dane is a superior employee who is always smiling, friendly and welcoming. She knows her patients by name and we are always excited to see her at each visit. Dr. Desmond is the best orthodontist ever! She is kind, so good with the kids and we are so happy to be working with her through the braces years! We cannot wait to watch our daughter's smile transform!

Fantastic experience: What an amazing facility and PHENOMENAL team! Was greeted by the office manager (Amanda) with a warm welcome. From the desk team to the clinical staff, everyone was fantastic, especially the x-ray techs Dorian and Joleen. They both were very patient with my child and made him feel comfortable during his first visit. I ABSOLUTLY RECOMMEND THIS OFFICE FOR THE KIDDOS!!!!!!!!!

Fantastic experience: I have a child who attends this office, and I must say, the experience was outstanding! The radiologist, whose name I believe is Dorien, was AMAZING! It was my kid's first time getting x-rays, and she was incredibly patient and fantastic throughout the process. I highly recommend this office for anyone with little ones!

Fantastic experience: I truly love this dentist and this location I've been taking all of my kids here since I moved to Charleston. I have five kids ages from 15 to 4 years old and I think we started here when my 15-year-old was 8 years old. Truly love this practice and the staff are amazing.

Fantastic experience: Took my 12 month old in for his first appointment and we had a great experience! The staff was so kind. They took the time to make him feel comfortable and show him the tools they would be using. The office is also very clean & cute for kids.

Negative experience: I’ve never left bad review before because I honestly just feel bad about doing it but I just wanted to let this place know how the service has been for me. For the past week and a half I have tried to call more than three different times and have left a detailed voicemail about my daughters tooth pain and needing her to be seen which I continued to receive no response. The lack of communication and not answering phone calls or voicemails was a breaking point after failed attempts. I shouldn’t have to walk into the building to have to make an appointment for my kids. Needless to say we switched today and I made one phone call and got all three of my kids in to another dentist. I just hope they make a turn around with their customer service.

Fantastic experience: This was my daughter's first time at this location and we both LOVE it. I would definitely recommend this location and the staff.

Negative experience: Horrible customer service!! My children had a 4:00pm appointment. I was stuck in traffic and arrived at 4:09 only to find the doors locked and the staff looking at me out the window. Then I saw that a staff member came outside, I asked her what time they stopped seeing patients she yelled and said they called me and closed early for the day. I never received a call, voicemail, or text notification. I only switched to the West Ashley location because of the commute, but I would rather drive a further distance than to deal with horrible customer service.

Fantastic experience: My son was having some pain in the lower back area of his mouth, we weren't sure the cause . We thought it may have been related to his wisdoms that was removed or maybe it didn't heal like it was suppose to. The took a look and right away they figured it out and came up with a solution to fix the problem. We just love them ❤️ all. The front desk, the Dental Assistants, Dentist, & the Techs. They all have important things that they are responsible for, so put them all together and that's what completes that wonderful, office and that's what keeps us coming back and telling others

Negative experience: The dental care was fine, however it was the surrounding lack of customer service that was absolutely horrible. They LIED to me and told me my son's tooth sealing would be covered by insurance and surprise surprise, it was not. I had like an extra $300 on my bill that I was not prepared to pay. Also when I tried to call or e-mail, I would get zero response. The online bills they send you also time out if you don't pay them immediately so then you're left to pay with no other way but check. I sent in a check for the payment for my daughter and it took them TWO MONTHS to deposit the check. We came here for one visit and I will NEVER bring my children here ever again. Horrible customer service.

Negative experience: We've been with Coastal Kids for almost ten years now, and for the last year or so we haven't been very happy. We've had a number of billing issues with them, either being charged for services that we were originally told were fully covered by insurance or consistently having balances that didn't match what we'd be told at the office. Most recently, we have an X-ray charge that no one has ever emailed me back about; I've reached out twice, and there's been no communication to figure out why I have this bill or how we should proceed with it. The office staff, both at the front desk and all the medical staff, are excellent - they have always been kind and helpful, and truly put my kids at ease for their cleanings and procedures. Their back of house needs to rework how they receive communication and connect with patients/customers - it's incredibly frustrating to try and rectify a problem and just have radio silence in response.

Fantastic experience: I was here recently with my 3 children who I thought all had scheduled appointments. When I got to the front desk, the receptionist informed me that only one of my children had an appointment. It was extremely frustrating because my older two had missed school that morning in order to make their appointments. So we sat in the waiting room trying to figure out what our next move would be. Thankfully, the office manager allowed all 3 of my children to be seen and fit them into the schedule for the day. I was especially grateful because it takes a lot to get my 3yo calm during his dental cleanings but being there with his two older siblings and seeing them get their teeth cleaned helped ease his nerves. It really turned my day around and it made a good impression on me.

Negative experience: Lately their customer services have been poor. Today, asked for rescheduling a routine clean and they were not flexible. But when we had to wait in between cleaning and dentist exam, it was ok for us to wait almost an hour and felt forgotten. Patient are just a number to them and they are NOT helpful. We originally joined this location to follow our really good peds dentist, but not worth it. POOR customer service.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Jenn was amazing. It was our first appointment and my 2 year old daughter has an extreme oral aversion. I was a little anxious and the entire staff was friendly. Dr. Jenn took her time and was so sweet with my daughter. She sang to her and my daughter let her look in her mouth and didn't fight her at all. We had to schedule the cleaning for another day (due to some medical stuff) but I don't think I will be as anxious as I was today. I would definitely recommend this dentist office!!

Negative experience: If you are looking for a pediatric dentist office that gets you in and out quickly then this could work for you. I am looking for a place that will establish a relationship with my child to help him not feel scared at the dentist. While we were given a separate room, I noticed that there was a line of dental chairs with no partitions for other patients. I am assuming after your first visit they move you from the separate room to the row of dental chairs. The hygienist came into our room for under two minutes and the dentist was in there with us about 3 minutes. My son was nervous and I didn’t feel we were given the time to warm him up to the experience. The movie playing in the waiting area and actual patient area was the live action lion king. It is a great movie, but I didn’t feel it was appropriate for younger kids. No one was rude to us, but it was not the experience I was looking for so we will be trying somewhere else.

Fantastic experience: My daughter was nervous that they would take away the pretty look they gave her teeth the last time she was there. And as soon as I told the nurse she was nervous they took care of it by putter in a private room and making the exam quick and easy.

Negative experience: Irresponsible employees. We were at a consultation, my son was assigned a tooth extraction and on the day of the visit they said that they would not be able to do it and would be sent to the hospital, to the objection that the doctor herself said what she would do, they replied that she had moved to another state. I think everyone knows that it's not so easy to find time and go on this day, but this irresponsible attitude has a very strong effect on the nerves of me and, of course, the child. They could at least have informed me in advance before the day of the visit , and they called that day in the morning, literally 10 minutes before the appointment, but at that moment I was already at the clinic.We had to urgently find another clinic and thank God we did everything very quickly and accurately in another clinic. I don't recommend this clinic to anyone.

Fantastic experience: Khloe came in for a cleaning and checkup. The doctor spent time with us and answered questions we had concerns about. He was very professional and let us know too that the braces did its job. Khloe has a beautiful smile, and we are grateful to have Coastal Kids Dental and Braces to help make this happen. Thank you. Positive experience: Update: They really went above and beyond to make this incident right - the office reached out to apologize and explained what admin policy changes had been made to prevent this kind of mistake in the future. They got her scheduled very quickly, and the surgery went very smoothly. Obviously I wish this hadn’t happened in the first place, but I understand mistakes and miscommunications are part of life. They really stepped up to make it right, and because of that they are still my kids’ dentists. Original: Six months ago, my daughter was seen here and the dentist said she had two cavities that needed to be treated. But when I called the office to schedule that treatment, the front desk staff insisted that the dentist hadn't recommended a treatment, they don't like the treat baby teeth, wait and see at the next check up, everything's fine, etc. I called back three times over a month, because I was so sure the dentist wanted to treat the cavities, but I was so firmly shut down I eventually accepted I was mistaken and gave up. But when we came back for her check up today we were told that because she had not been treated, she now has to undergo anesthesia to have the now much-worse off teeth removed. If they had scheduled the procedure when I asked she could have had an unmedicated, in-office procedure. I'm very torn because the doctors and staff here are all fabulous and they make the dental process pleasant and reassuring for kids. And I understand that what essentially happened here was a note-taking error. But because of that note-taking error, my child will have to go under anesthesia and have teeth pulled, which was 100% avoidable and which I tried very hard to avoid.

Fantastic experience: What a wonderful facility and team! We took our daughter here for a consult and the experience was wonderful. Friendly reception desk, very short wait to be seen, excellent team of doctors and assistants. They really took the time to explain everything, and made us feel like they'd take great care of our child. Couldn't ask for anything more!

Fantastic experience: Haley and Dr. Kara were great with my son. He sometimes needs slow and purposeful words and actions and we felt so accommodated during the entire visit. It was easy to schedule the visits and he can’t wait to go back! He even said that the whole thing was “amazing”! Thank you to the caring team for caring for us!

Fantastic experience: The environment is very welcoming and comforting for all the kiddos! All the paintings on the walls and friendly staff make the appointments not as scary for the little ones. They usually have coloring sheets and crayons in the waiting area that my son always looks forward to and, of course, the prizes at the end! Also, they never question parents being right by their little ones' side during whatever procedure being done.

Fantastic experience: Today was my daughter’s first visit and I must say, the entire staff from check-in, hygienist (forgot her name…sorry) and the dentist Dr. Katie, was super sweet and amazing. The young lady that call us to the back and got us situated for the hygienist was awesome as well. We came from a dentist office that we had since my daughter was 1 years old, she’s 15 now and they made us feel so welcome. I will definitely recommend this location (Wappoo Rd.) to anyone in search of a pediatric dentistry ❤️ Shanecqua and Rheagan

Positive experience: The receptionist Kayden I think is her name, became annoyed when I asked her to confirm updated insurance info. I guess she’s become accustomed to only saying 1 line while checking patients in; as I don’t think I asked for anything unreasonable. But anywho I think if you’re going to work in customer service you should atleast have patience and be a people’s person.

Negative experience: The dental hygienist was kind, and the cleaning went as expected. The Dentist that we saw last time had deplorable bedside manner. I will be taking my business elsewhere. I recommend that if anyone does continue on with Coastal and you see one of the dentist that you like, make sure you specify that you want An appointment with them. Regarding asking about oral ties – do your research and lnow which pediatric dentist actually specializes in tongue ties. They do not. A couple of comments made by the dentist, “So what are you asking me?” and “ Anterior or posterior?” How is it that I know the different types of ties and you don’t?

Fantastic experience: My children have been going to Coastal Kids Dental in West Ashley since we moved to this area 6 years ago. The staff have always been very friendly and helpful. The dental assistants and dentists are knowledgeable and great with children. They’ve figured out cute ways to make the whole process less scary for little ones. My kids love the paintings on the walls, the tv above the dental chairs, and also the fun prize when they leave. I think wherever you go to a dentist’s or doctor’s office there will be a wait to be seen. Coastal Kids has a TV in the waiting room where they play kid friendly movies. The murals on the walls are also a great distraction from the wait. I would highly recommend Coastal Kids Dental and Braces!

Negative experience: The staff was wonderful and it was a great experience for our son. We did receive an appointment reminder text at 7:47an on a Saturday which was very annoying and the front desk couldn’t really commit to it not happening again.

Fantastic experience: My child had an issue with a tooth. The office was able to squeeze us in as soon as they opened in the morning, and they took care of everything so efficiently that my kid was still on time to school and I was on time to work. We really appreciate the helpful service.

Fantastic experience: The receptionist, Steven, was amazing, kind, understanding, and supportive. I had a difficult time with my son, who was recently diagnosed with Autism. I got to the office, and Steven was extremely polite in getting me checked in, supportive in looking up my insurance information and truly understanding. I had a wonderful day afterwards, and my life has changed because one person demonstrated support at the right time. GOD Bless and Thank you!!

Negative experience: My son has been a patient since he was 2. Last week when I tried to make him an appointment they informed me that their policy has changed and they only take kids his age before 11 bc they feel their behavior is better. My son is 8 and has never once had any issues with behavior at the dentist, I am self employed and a single mom so taking time off in the morning doesn’t work for me. Also pulling him out of school for appointments during school year won’t work. I reached out to them via email to explain and hopefully resolve the issue. I never received a response. If whomever made this new policy couldn’t deal with behaviors especially at a scary place like a dentist they ought to have chosen a different career. We went into my dentist today, plantation dentistry and they were happy to accept him as a patient and set him an appointment for anytime of the day.

Negative experience: Young lady who was cleaning my 3-year-old daughter's teeth was a little too rough. Comments made to a 3yr old should have been said to me and she also ask her if she has chicken the night before at her 3:00 pm appointment. The rep putting in the information and the Doctor was very nice and pleasant.

Positive experience: Dr. Rebecca and her assistant were absolutely amazing! Front desk staff was friendly but scheduling and billing were a nightmare. Our appointment got rescheduled multiple times and even showed up for an appointment to be told they couldn’t see us and had tried to reach me. I had no missed calls, messages, emails, txt, etc. I even received a text and email confirming my appointment the day before. Our bill was way off and the front desk didn’t seem to know what was going on or why were were being billed. I also left multiple messages and never received a call back about scheduling the appointment originally. While I feel my child received incredible care while there, I do feel there is great room for improvement on the admin side of things especially when it comes to communication back and forth with patients.

Positive experience: They got. Us? In fast. Other? What time's the formula? I have to wait for a long time. My son is 13. You're just having a regular cleaning when you like satin out in the car When you came out? He called me and said he was outside alreand I went in and asked Anything to know She was like 0okayliketheydidnotevenknowanything And my son also said they were A little aggressive I will go again but I will Definitely sit inside with him the whole process!!!

Fantastic experience: My granddaughter is now 7 and has been going to Coastal Kids since she was 2. We have had nothing but excellent experiences each and every time. The staff is extremely knowledgeable, friendly and great with kids! I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my granddaughter’s oral care! 10 out of 10!

Fantastic experience: The Coastal staff were wonderful with our kids! I took all 4 of them at the same time and they managed it so well. One of our kids has special needs and has a super tough time at the dentist. They were so patient and kind with him. They never made me or him seem like a nuisance. We are so appreciative and look forward to many years with them!

Fantastic experience: They were completely AMAZING with my special needs daughter, they were able to take x-rays with no tears from my girl! BRUUH, X-RAYS!! They were great with my other two but my sn baby actually, really, like literally GOT X-RAYS done! Yes, I'm beyond happy and still excited! They were fast, great, attentive, great, kind,..... and did I mention GREAT!‍♀️❤️

Fantastic experience: Our little really enjoyed her first dentist visit ☺️! The atmosphere was like a toddler wonderland with activities, murals, screens for each chair, and coloring pages. Our 3yo was wary because all she knew was how frightening they portray the dentists office on TV lol. She was pleasantly surprised. Def recommend Coastal Kids on Wapoo Rd. To any first time dentist goers. Now they just need an adult office like that

Fantastic experience: We were very pleased with every step of my daughters appointment. From check-in-very welcoming, the dental cleaning the hygienist was great at easing my daughters anxiety and was very informative. To of course the great Dr Frankie! She was awesome! Even check out was great and friendly. Even made sure we had a school excuse. Thank you for the Wow Service!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Frankie and her nurse went above and beyond for my daughter when they didn't have to. Amazing staff from checking in to checking out and everything in between! I was actually looking for a new place to not have such a cookie cutter dentist but they showed me today they care about their patients. We aren't going anywhere else!!

Fantastic experience: We had a wonderful experience as usual. My daughter was in and out in 40 minutes, including x-rays. Everyone is always friendly and they take the time to put nervous kiddos at ease and answer any questions.

Fantastic experience: After a couple bad experiences at a previous pediatric dentist, this office made it better for my 6 year old. The kid-friendly decor and friendly staff has him actually excited to go back for his next cleaning…what a relief!

Fantastic experience: I took my daughter at almost 2 years old for her first visit and the Coastal Kids team was amazing with her. They were right on time for our appointment, gentle with my daughter, and overall we had a wonderful experience.
