She skillfully removed a challenging crown, placed a temporary crown, and then fitted the permanent crown a week later, along with a cavity filling. Every procedure was quick, smooth, and virtually painless. The quality of work was outstanding, and the professionalism and expertise demonstrated throughout the process were truly remarkable

Negative experience: I lost a crown and called and they put me off for 8 days for an appt. When I went in, Dr. Dillan was incredibly rude and unhelpful and said I should have come in earlier, the root canal and crown was not done right, my tooth was mushy and needed to be pulled. She blamed me and asked why I didn’t come in earlier, when it was her office that said they couldn’t get me in for over a week. She just kept repeating it was “to mushy” and was super annoying. Finally she told me to go downstairs to the oral surgeon to have it removed. The crown that fell out was almost 20 years old and had been great, and was just old, but she tried to blame my previous dentist and say it was bad work instead of trying to help. I truly believe she just didn’t want to do any work and she probably gets a kick back for send people to the oral surgeon in her building.

They’re easily reachable even in weekends, when they opened for weekday immediate attention and follow up, got an appointment ASAP and got the problem fixed. No waiting, all done!❤️❤️

Negative experience: December 16, 2025 – Dr. Dillon: Dr. Dillon placed three dental fillings on teeth that had no pain, sensitivity, biting issues, or flossing problems prior to treatment. Before the procedure began, I clearly stated that the area was not numb and requested additional anesthesia. Treatment proceeded anyway. The procedure was extremely painful and felt rushed. I experienced significant pain throughout, and additional anesthesia was administered only in the middle of the procedure, after the pain had already become severe, rather than ensuring proper numbness beforehand. During this visit, cold air was repeatedly applied to a nearby root-canal tooth without a crown, which was not the tooth being treated and had not been problematic before. That same day, I began experiencing new pain in that nearby tooth. Within a few days (approximately three to four days), the teeth that received the fillings also began causing pain and ongoing discomfort. I developed new symptoms including pain when biting, pain when touching the tooth, and sharp pain when flossing before the floss even reached the gum. Dr. Saxena (first follow-up): I returned to the same office because these symptoms began only after the December 16 fillings. Dr. Saxena evaluated me for issues involving a different/root-canal tooth that became sensitive following the initial treatment. At this visit, Dr. Saxena referred me to a root-canal specialist to evaluate the issue. This visit occurred solely because of complications following Dr. Dillon’s work. Dr. Oh: Due to continued pain, I was later seen by Dr. Oh. He identified one of the fillings as “too high” and performed an adjustment. This adjustment did not resolve the flossing pain or sensitivity. At this visit, no crack was identified or mentioned, despite evaluations and imaging already being part of the care. Dr. Saxena (subsequent visit): On a later visit, Dr. Saxena stated that the tooth was “cracked” and advised that a crown was needed. This statement was made without obtaining new imaging or reviewing any new X-rays. A crack had not been identified or discussed during any prior visit, including when adjustments and evaluations were already performed. The tooth was completely asymptomatic before the December 16 fillings, and this explanation was introduced only after multiple failed attempts to resolve the problem. Despite repeatedly reporting floss-specific pain, none of the providers physically flossed the area to reproduce or isolate the issue. In addition to unresolved clinical problems, I later received insurance explanations showing out-of-network billing and charges totaling approximately $1,270 for three fillings, which were not clearly disclosed before treatment. I was also billed again for an adjustment visit within the same practice related to complications from the original work. This has been an unbelievable experience. It required multiple return visits, caused ongoing physical discomfort, and created significant mental stress due to inconsistent explanations, lack of resolution, and unexpected billing. I cannot see myself returning to this clinic. I strongly advise patients to conduct thorough due diligence before agreeing to treatment, confirm provider network status and costs in writing, and seek independent evaluation if symptoms arise after dental work. Your health matters—protect it.

Fantastic experience: I like this dentist office. It is close to my house and people in this office are very kind and nice. They never push me to do unnecessary expensive dental work like other dentist. The way they clean my teeth is very gentle and minimal discomfort. My appointment was 11am today, but they texted me earlier today to let me know the hygienist would be ready to see me if I want to come earlier, so I did show up earlier. It was very nice of them to text me like that!

Negative experience: My orthodontist mentioned that there appears to be a cavity in my teeth. Also, I recently started feeling my teeth getting sensitive whenever I drank something cold. I called their office to schedule an appointment to get the cavity fixed. I gave all the details while scheduling the appointment. Daring the office visit, they took x-rays. A dentist came and said I should get a comprehensive examination and cleaning before even examining my teeth. I said lets fix this current problem now, then I will consider a comprehensive exam. She then examined and confirmed that there is a cavity. She then said to book a follow-up to fix the cavity. Upon asking why they can't fix it in the same appointment, I was told that they are busy to offer the same day service. It's like I have been billed for xray and office visit just to hear the facts, which I knew from the start. Other than wasting my time and money, office is clean and I didn't had to wait when I walked in for my appointment.

Fantastic experience: Let me tell you, I haven’t met anyone that is not terrified to go to dentists, including myself, so after my longtime trusted dentist, dr Khan, retired, I knew I was in trouble! Had to search and ask around, and actually tried some local dental practice which made me more nervous because I felt like an ATM! Finally a friend recommended South Riding Smiles. Have a complicated front tooth with a big cavity, I was very anxious to hear that, but after working on me for close to one and a half hours, I’m happy to report walking out with my tooth intact and feeling confident that I found my new dentist

Negative experience: I've never had such a poor dental service as I've had with this provider. First, they say they provide the same level of cleaning and preventative care as my periodontist (since insurance coverage is the same), but I get to an appointment only to discover they don't. I literally had to walk out. No one seems to have any consistency on what's going on. Today I receive a call saying "well we see you have an appointment, but we don't know what's it's for." I had to inform them the doctor previously created a treatment plan incrementally done every year to be covered by my health care flex spending, and I previously told two separate people the same thing on different occasions. I schedule it with one person, get calls from others asking and I tell them again, but constantly I still get calls asking me what's going on no matter how many times I tell them exactly what it is for. Additionally, you will have absolutely nothing but nightmares dealing with whoever the heck is doing billing and insurance submittal. You'll give them your insurance information over and over, only to get bills showing nothing was ever submitted to and thereby no plan payments were made by your dental insurance. Additionally, it doesn't even show the thousands of dollars you already paid. They also don't charge in network fees although they really are in network, and they try to bill you the out of network full costs. I finally made the decision today to completely avoid this dumpster fire of a dental provider. I'm going to call my dental provider and file a formal grievance process against them as they obviously are incompetent and can't do anything right or even be somewhat versed in common functioning.

Fantastic experience: I thought I had broken one of my front teeth. I called and was able to get an appointment within a week. When I called I was greeted with a very friendly and professional woman. I was sent a link via email for paperwork and it was very easy nothing to print. When I got to the office it was C-19 safe. I immediately was taken to the treatment room. Dr. Oh came in right away and greeted me, he’s warm, compassionate, and professional. Once again the room was C-19 prepared. Thank goodness it was a filling that fallen out , he was able to fix it. I didn’t have to waste time coming back. The office overall is very impressive. From the receptionist to the dental assistant made me feel like a valued patient 09/29/2022 Once again another dental crisis this time I had to get a crown replaced and one other. I saw Dr. McAndrew's, her assistant, Daniela, I hadn't see either of these ladies before...AND I was impressed the kindness, respect, warmth and professionalism was real! Post-C-19! At least South Riding Smiles hasn't changed!

Fantastic experience: I'm a new patient who recently had a standard cleaning and also a procedure to replace two existing crowns that had been giving me issues for years. I've been extremely happy with Dr. Oh, his assistant John, and my dental hygienist Tanya. They were professional and friendly during my appointments. They took the time to explain in detail the condition of my teeth, the procedures that they were going to perform, and also addressed all of my questions and concerns, which made me feel comfortable that I was in good hands. During and following my procedures, no pain or discomfort was experienced, which was a welcomed change as compared to my previous dentist(s). I was very happy that the appointment scheduling process was quick and painless as well. Despite Dr. Oh's office being busy, they were able to accommodate my schedule. Overall, I am very happy that I found South Riding Smiles. My only regret is that I didn't find them earlier. :-)

She is the best dentist I have ever had and no longer dread my appointments. Her expertise should be valued and cannot be understated. My root canal was painless even on twisted roots. Fantastic experience: I have been a patient of Dr Dillon's for almost 20 years. She is the consummate perfectionist whose talents have given me a smile that at age 58 I still get compliments on!

Negative experience: Dr. Dillion is the worst doctor ever in this area. She is so unprofessional and being very disrespectful toward her clients. She only wants patient to follow her suggestions but never wanted to listen to what her patient wants. I told her I only want filling and if that doesn’t resolve the issue then please extract that painful tooth for me. She turned around and asked me do I have dental insurance? She thinks I don’t have money to pay for her work or what? What an insulting and underestimate question? As matter of fact, it is a very rude question. TBH, I don’t need to have dental insurance to have my teeth done, I can pay out from my pocket if I want to… She wanted me to have crown on one of my tooth and explained to me that I have so much of decay on my tooth and etc… common and that is why I come to the dentist office to get the problem treated. I was being very professional and calm but she was very rude. I told her Dr. Kim, who I saw before didn’t tell me that I need crown on that teeth. He said he will try to save it all by doing fillings. Dr. Dillion told me” Dr. Kim, who just graduated 2 years ago, she, herself had been working for 35” years”. 35 years and being so unprofessional and rude?? Wow…. This is the first time ever I’ve seen someone like this in my life. I was a manager, managing 35 adult engineers and none of them are this rude and unprofessional. In addition, she won’t let me talk or listen to my concerns. Then she told me I should go and find another dentist who can fulfill my request. She doesn’t work on the patient that give her suggestions on what they wants to do with their teeth. I was like she must have woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. It is my teeth, I can do whatever I want with it. All the staff and other doctors in this office are extremely nice except for Dr. Dillion. I and my husband will never come back to this dentist office again.

Fantastic experience: I used to go to a dentist in Herndon since it was close to work. My husband has recommended this practice since he’s been going there for years and it’s so close to the house so it’s very convenient. I finally made the switch a couple of years ago after seeing the same dentist for more than 10 years! It’s always been a pleasant experience coming to this practice. All the hygienists have been so good and Alice today was just exceptional. She was very thorough and really took her time to explain things to me - didn’t seem to rush at all. She was very friendly too like everyone I’ve met in that office including the dentists. Highly recommend it especially if you live in the area - so close and convenient!

Positive experience: I had been to many dental providers for my TMD symptoms and was going through excruciating pain when I was finally able to get some relief through the support of Dr. Joseph in 2017. I feel privileged and grateful to the doctor and rest of the staff at South Riding smiles. After a long gap of more than three years I am currently seeing Dr. Joseph again for my orthotic and dental care he has been patient and understanding of some of my needs. The entire staff is new for me but I hope that I can continue to receive the best dental care at SRS.

Fantastic experience: Fast, customer-first services! I cracked my molar two days before Thanksgiving and the office accommodated me by scheduling a visit the next morning even though I was not a current patient. During the visit, Dr. Kim was quick to identify the problem and recommended several courses of action to include referral to oral surgeons. Dr. Kim saved my Thanksgiving.

These guys respect your time, completes the job thoroughly (and with high quality), they are down-to-earth people, and the doctor takes the time to explain unique situations and possible game plans.
