When we became new patients, my daughter was desperately in need of thorough dental work that she wasn’t receiving at our old, corporate pediatric dentist. I came to Dr. Karan with this issue and she welcomed us into the practice with open arms, zero judgement and has only ever taken excellent care of my children. My daughter needed a lot of dental work under anesthesia which Dr. Karan did with such compassion and finesse; she used to terrified of going to the dentist and now she can’t wait to go see the “Princess Dentist” and see what beautiful shoes Dr. Karan will be wearing next. Dr. Karan and her whole staff at Pediatric Dentistry are truly something special. Every appointment further confirms how much they truly care for these children and how much they’re dedicated to their excellent practice. Dr. Karan is not only an excellent practitioner, but just so warm, patient and kind. I feel so blessed that we found her practice and continue to recommend them to anyone with children! One has relatively high anxiety in general; I love watching and listening to Dr. Karan converse with each one of my kids, explaining what she's doing, gains their trust, listens to them, educating us all. Her abilities go well beyond any other pediatric doctor in general I've taken any of my kids to.

Experiencia fantástica: Absolutely the best pediatric dentist around! My daughter has been going for eight years now, since the age of three. Everyone in the office takes extra care to make sure the children feel safe and relaxed.

Experiencia negativa: If I could give no stars I would. My daughter is hesitant, nervous, and scared of injections. My daughter has been coming here because her last dentist was unable to do a filling without nitrous. We have really only gone here for cleanings, because she ends up sending my daughter out to get the baby teeth needing fillings pulled. When I called the office to speak with Dr. Karan about her plans for the fillings my daughter needed, I was brushed off by the office staff, told she’d get nitrous, and never received a call back (I couldn’t make this cleaning appt and she was brought in by mom). My daughter was supposed to be given nitrous before having her cavities filled. She did not do that. Instead, she used the numbing jelly, then proceeded to push the qtips immediately into her gums until my daughter screamed and pushed her off of her. Immediately dr Karan (yet again) exclaimed that she can’t do this. Then proceeded to tell me she needs iv sedation. My daughter has had nitrous in the past multiple times in order to get ivs placed in the hospital for her procedures. She does just fine with only nitrous. When I tried telling her this, she immediately brushed me off, spoke over me, and proceeded to tell me that it wasn’t nitrous she was getting. To make matters more questionable, I was told I need 2 adults to be able to bring her home after the iv sedation and that I need to monitor her breathing at home. My daughter has been under anesthesia numerous times, and not once have I been told this. I drive home from the children’s hospital in Philly after anesthesia and have never been told I need a second person with me. Went to a different pediatric dentist this morning, where new X-rays needed to be taken because they couldn’t even see all the teeth that we were told needed fillings. Turns out she only needs 1, and the other just needs to be cleaned and sealed.

Experiencia negativa: Dr Karan stabbed my son in the mouth I assume by accident making him scream in pain and yell, and her professional way to handle this was to kick him out of her practice. Apparently it was to hard for her to apologize and admit her mistake. Good luck to whom ever decides to use her practice. I was under the impression ADULT PEDEATRIC DENTIST would be able to handle situations like this in a professional manor apparently I was wrong. The only good thing out of this is that I was able to show my kids how some ADULTS handle situations like children as opposed to being a professional.

Experiencia negativa: I'm not one to post on here about businesses and say bad things but I just have too because I've never been treated so badly by a professional in my life. Howell Pedatric Dentistry is the most unprofessional and awful practice ever. My youngest went in for his cavity to be filled. First time ever doing it and he was terrified. Instead of giving him the laughing gas like we were told. She belittled him, talked to him with a mean voice which scared him more. When he wouldn't calm down, she told us to leave and not come back. When I questioned why he didn't get the laughing gas, she ignored me and wouldn't answer. Today I got a letter in the mail from them stating that 2 of the 3 boys were no longer welcome at the practice. So, I called and canceled connor appointment. The whole experience with this practice has really made me sad because if this is how she treated my son, I'm sure she has done this to others. Please don't take your children to this dentist. She is not nice to scared kids who have never experienced a cavity before.

The girls had painless and tear free cleanings, and everyone from the front desk staff to the dentist participated in my kid's care. They were all wonderful and we have found oudr dentist for the foreseeable future. Thank you too all the staff for making something that is normally stressful, pretty enjoyable and memorable. We look forward to visiting again soon. Update, May 2023: we still see Dr. Karan and she is still the best pediatric dentist. We were just there today, and it was another good visit. My kids look forward to every time they visit Dr. Karan and her team!

Experiencia fantástica: It was our son’s first time at the dentist and I know he can be fearful and a tough cookie about these things.. so I was over the moon happy when we walked into such a friendly environment seeing tons of coloring pictures all the kids made there hung on their walls. They even had a huge fun and colorful balloon arch for New Years to take photos in the center of! How cool is that! The staff was so pleasant and made us feel at ease. The dental assistant we had was the sweetest and made the experience so easy and enjoyable for our son! When Dr. Karan came in she had the best personality and sense of humor! Her demeanor with children and their parents is so wonderful. She was also very informative and exhibits how much she cares for the work she does and for the child. We are so satisfied and look forward to our 6 month follow up appointment!

Experiencia negativa: Bait and switch. The first appointment Dr. Karan was incredible. I’m writing after the second appointment and I feel we didn’t see the same woman. We waited in the room for a while. When she came in she did not say a word to my daughter who was so excited to see her. She cut me off with the first question I asked and wasn’t very nice for the 3 minutes she was in with us. Yes, 3 minutes! I had asked about lip tie and she was holding my daughters mouth open and my daughter looked like it hurt her. She held it for what i felt was way too long. I was just about to say something when she let go. I left very unhappy. My 2 year old left unhappy. I called to express some concerns about the visit and had to call back myself next day to follow up. When Dr. Karan called to ask me what happened she again kept cutting me off. Why ask? I know people love her but now these true colors have been shown. I think it’s because the pickings are slim in this area. I’m willing to drive and find the best for my daughter and someone she can grow with. This was unnecessary and disappointing. 2 is a fragile age and this could have been the reason she’d hate the dentist. I wonder sometimes why doctors get into the pediatrics field when they don’t work well with children. Thankful for the hygienist who was an angel and made this appointment for my daughter. I read peoples reviews and sometimes negative reviews don’t make it and should.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Karan helped my daughter. I am thankful for that. I ask a lot of questions and I hope she didnt feel as if I didnt trust her because in fact it was the opposite. It was actually a compliment. I was intrigued and very interested in what she did. My daughter feels so much better and was home playing in no time. She is great and her whole staff is too. They dont just work on kids they work with kids. From the minute my daughter walked in there she felt she was in a good place. Dr Karan and staff have were very nice and calming.

We love this doctor and her team. We travel from Point Pleasant to this office and wouldn't look anywhere else! They are patient, kind and know all the tricks to calm a nervous tot by first being calm themselves. We love the prize box too!

Experiencia negativa: First and foremost, after a consultation, Dr. Karan Estwick strongly urged me to schedule extensive, invasive, medically unnecessary treatment under IV sedation for my 3 year old. THREE other family and pediatric dentists at three separate practices disagreed with her diagnosis and proposed treatment plan. This is extremely disturbing to me, as Dr. Estwick presented my child’s supposed issues and treatment plan as *absolutely, urgently necessary.* How many families have trusted this doctor and had procedures done on their children that were not necessary? I noticed another reviewer described this practice as a “scam” and I must agree - this is the impression that I am left with as well. Secondly, Dr. Estwick’s bedside manner is incredibly lacking. I would never know it was the same individual described in the other positive reviews of Dr. Estwick and her practice. From the moment she entered the exam room, she was critical and had a negative attitude. I truthfully was quite taken aback by her demeanor and it found it incredibly uncomfortable and rude. I also did not find her to be particularly gentle or patient with my children. If you decide to bring your child to this practice, I urge caution and a second opinion if you are hesitant about diagnostics/treatment provided here.
