Experiencia negativa: This review is not a reflection of the dentists , I did get good dental care at each visit. However, the office staff is incompetent. I am being charged for a no show appointment that I never had in the first place . Anyone who schedules here knows that there is a trail of confirmation texts for every appointment. And they are now bringing up an apparent ‘no show ‘ from 3 years ago, and just now billing me . The fact that I get no explanation for any of this .. just that ‘ I can not be seen until I pay’ , is unacceptable. Time to find a new , more professional dental office .

Experiencia negativa: *GO TO A ROOT CANAL SPECIALIST* I am in shock and need to share this unfortunate experience. I got a root canal done and now it’s infected but ONTOP of that A PIECE OF A TOOL WAS LEFT INSIDE OF MY CANAL. Yes you read that right. Now I am being told by another dentist that this tooth should have NEVER been capped with a crown, and this was BOUND to get infected since this crown was not filled to the Apex. I’m truly upset and in shock and genuinely recommend anyone who needs a root canal to go to a specialist and NOT to have it get done here. The only nice thing about this office was the kind dental assistant's.

Experiencia fantástica: I am a new patient at Oakwood Dental Arts. My first appointment for a cleaning is not until June. I had a problem with a tooth and I contacted them and they gave me an appointment right away. The office was clean and all the staff were very nice.

Experiencia negativa: Have been coming here since 2022. My husband and I both had appointments our regular 6 month cleaning and they call day before to cancel. Then they say we have old bridge which is another 30 minute drive and I say no. They then say “people book six months in advance “ I then say yes me I do that but you guys cancel the day before! What an unprofessional establishment. Now looking for new dentist office ! As a mom of three w sports and just living life every Day has hardly any time for change out of the routine. This was super inconvenient, but they want to take money from patients if you don’t give 24 hour notice of canceling your appointment but it’s OK for them to do that absurd

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Maffei and her assistant were absolutely wonderful to me. I'm having an issue with my gums. I was in a lot of pain and got an emergency appointment within one day. They were so helpful. They took photos, so when I come back next week, they have something to compare to. Dr. Maffei prescribed me a mouthwash, that I'm happy to say, is helping after only one day. Dr. L did 3 fillings for me last year. He did a fantastic job, as one of them was on the front, of one of my top front teeth. You can't even tell which tooth it is. And my hygienist Karen is the absolute best. She's gentle, thorough, and very kind.

Experiencia negativa: I am very upset. I went in for a cap a few weeks back, and it was a long visit, with a root canal and getting it prepared and ready . The cap was not in tight and food was getting stuck every time I ate and it was hurting me. They offered to fix it. Again, it was a lengthy and grueling visit to remove it and replace it for a new cap. This time, it felt off and every time I bit down , I felt it wasn’t in right. I made another appointment to fix it but a week later, it fell out as I brushed my teeth. I brought it back to them to have it placed back in only to find out the bone above my tooth is now cracked and they are unable to place a cap. There was no crack found in the many x-rays they took at my first and second visit. I now need an implant ?? I left the office very upset and confused and I now have a tooth exposed and they give me an appointment in two weeks?? I know this is a very long review but I am upset and not sure what my next move is?

Experiencia negativa: There should be an option for no stars. I like the dentist here but the people at the front alone are the reason that me and my husband will no longer be going here. My husband went in for an appointment and they charged him the $900 for his procedure but then neglected to tell him that even though he had an appointment, he’d have to wait an extra 45 minutes to actually be seen because they had other people that were running late. And then when I said that he needed to leave and we’d make another appointment she told me I’d have to go through billing to get my money back for a procedure. He wasn’t gonna have done. And this really isn’t the first time I’ve had a problem with the front desk here. They’re nasty and for that, I will never come here again. They should probably read this and change their attitude.

The dentist and hygienist and dental assistant were incredibly kind, thorough, and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. Everything was explained clearly, and I felt genuinely cared for. This is by far one of the best dental experiences I’ve had—highly recommended! I had my husband switch to this practice

Experiencia negativa: Edited addition 12/25: Every single root canal I had done at this office has failed. I have already had to have several teeth extracted and now need several implants after spending thousands and thousands of dollars here. The last xrays showed the next failed root canal tooth I need removed wasn't even done correctly in the first place. Upset does not begin to describe my feelings. Original from 4 years ago: Fantastic! Fabulous! So happy I found this practice. As many of us do, we hate going to the dentist because it is usually painful in more ways than one. This place restored my trust in dentistry! Funny, friendly and pain free. Dr. Schechterman is my dude and he's simply amazing. Would most highly recommend. (I visit both the Freehold and Shrewsbury office and the staff is equally awesome).

From the head Doctor Lovetere or Dr L as his staff lovingly refers him as to the front desk staff and especially the hygienists Karen. So yeah, give them a try out and experience what is sometimes a very stressful time to a Pleasent and confident experience in every way.

Experiencia fantástica: Had an old filling which was chipping away in the rear lower left side. I recently had a crown done by doctor Thomas Lovetere a/k/a Dr., L. He knows his craftsmanship and happy with the outcome. It takes a few days to allow the crown to settle.

Today I had to have a root canal because I chipped my molar that had a very old filling. Dr. Lovetere, and his amazing assistant made me very comfortable and calmed my anxiety with their kindness and complete informative conversation. The procedure went very well and I’m pleased to say I am very satisfied with the temporary crown and look forward to the returning for my permanent one. Thank you!

Experiencia positiva: Good experience getting a crown from Dr. Maffei. Two recommendations for the dental assistant, Tony, regarding communication. Speak to patients slower and more clearly. And when asking a patient to turn or move their head, let them do it on their own Don't move their head with your hands while simultaneously asking them.

Experiencia negativa: Been to dental offices before but this was a different experience. First visit I came here for one root canal and they did two without me even knowing. No communication between doctor and front desk. I ended up paying for two root canal’s and maybe the second one wasn’t even done. I wouldn’t be going here again.

Experiencia positiva: I usually have a good experience at the Freehold Oakwood Dental. Their staff is always nice and helpful. The only time I had a problem was when l had to wait 3 hours in the chair to have a filling done because the dentist was working on someone else. The dentist kept coming into my room telling me that he would be right with me. If I would have known that needed more time with the other patient I would have rescheduled my appointment. Someone from the office should have called me. Otherwise I usually have a good experience.

They always go out of their way to accommodate us and understand our highly complicated family. The new office in Old Bridge is beautiful and immaculate. We split our time between Freehold and Old Bridge offices. Either way, you can’t go wrong.

Experiencia negativa: I am a new patient, I had the meet and greet and my fitst appoinmtment was today at 9 AM. I arrived at 8:55 to locked doors. I waited and was first in the office. I was asked to fill out a form and then wait. At 9:05 another patient comes and fills out a form and is seen at 9:07. At 9:17 I was asked to come in for my appointment. At this point I see this office as a waste of time. I feel uncomfortable with a Dentist that has no respect for my time. Why should I come early and respect the Dentist's time? I f I cam 18 to 20 minutes late would you have still taken me? Why was the other patient taken before me? I have responsibilitys and a job and I feel that this location has no consideration of the patient and their time. If anything some information that the dentist was running late. But no, instead I just watch someone else go in before me. Horrible customer service and I will not be using you as my Dentist.

Experiencia negativa: I used to be happy with Oakwood Dental. However, I think I will be taking my business elsewhere after my visit today. I had an appointment for a routine cleaning. As usual, they try to do x-rays each time I come. I refused the x-rays, as my insurance only pays for them once a year, not every 6 months. The dental hygienist then did my cleaning. I’ve had fillings done along the gum line for most of my teeth due to gum erosion. She scraped so hard that she removed some of the filling and left my front tooth with a visible, jagged edge on the front of my tooth. I had to come back after noticing it once I got to my car in the parking lot. She then tried to polish it. She made it better, but not as it was prior to the appointment. She shouldn’t have left it like that to begin with. The top of the cake was when the dentist came in at the end of the appointment to check my teeth. As usual for this place, it was another dentist that I hadn’t seen before. They seem to have a revolving door of dentists. The hygienist said that I didn’t want x-rays, so he’d have to view the ones from 6 months ago. He stated, “I guess I’ll use my x-ray vision!” I didn’t appreciate the comment. I’m a middle-aged person who has never had a cavity before, as I take good care of my teeth. I came to have my teeth cleaned, not to be spoken to rudely and to have my teeth looking worse than when I came in. I will be searching for a new dentist for my family.

Experiencia negativa: Big mistake!!!!! I trusted them!!! Months in pain , unsuccessful rooth canal done by "doctor " who maybe wasnt even a doctor after all. They don't take responsibility since they make you sign "paper" before the treatment , sending you to another specialist ,after their mistakes, to start over , meaning payment all over again , suffering all over again and outcome most likely loosing tooth completely. Big mistake!!!

Experiencia negativa: After going to the Freehold office for a few years all of a sudden I'm told they don't accept my coverage any longer but yet the old bridge location does, how can that be when both locations are oakwood dental, they had no answer me, this place is nothing more than a dentist factory, the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.

The receptionist at the front desk were very kind and once I explained my situation they accommodate me the best they could. The doctor was awesome as well.I can’t complain the staff has been really good very professional and caring !

I expected to be a little sore after. But once the anesthetic wore of I didn't even know work was done. Outstanding Dental office and staff.

Dentist was very calm which made dad and daughter very comfortable. Dental hygienist was great as well. For me, the back to back phone calls I made to the office staff was exceptional.
