Experiencia fantástica: I had the pleasure of going to Dr Levy’s dental office the other day. I had x-rays done and a cleaning by sweet Diane. Dr Levy came in for an examination as usual. Everything was great and I’m never afraid to go to the dentist as I know some people are. I’ve been going to this dentist for decades and would recommend them to anyone. It’s a great team!

Experiencia fantástica: I went to get my teeth cleaned today. This is the first time in this era of Covid 19. Office handled social distancing very well. Office was setup with new equipment and staff was totally professional. HEPA filter machine in every room along with a UV filter machine. Technician had exrta precautions to like face shield, mask, and full gown. Complete new saliva ejector for each patience. Cleaning was painlessly completed as usual with a great technician. I felt great as usual leaving the office with great caring staff but that's a standard affair now and before the present world situation. So keep you mouth painless and smile bright with the great staff at Dr. Levy's great business without hesitation. Thank you to all involved. John

Experiencia fantástica: I unexpectedly needed a tooth pulled. Dr Levy took the time to recommend a specialist and call them to help set up an appointment. When I had to go to a second specialist he called ahead to let them know what was going on. He called me several times to reassure me that everything would be fine. He even called me on a Saturday to see how I was doing. I really appreciated that he took the time out of his day to care and check in. That is hard to find these days. Thank you again Dr Levy.

Experiencia fantástica: Progressive Dentistry is wonderful! I can highly recommend Dr. Steven M. Levy, DMD who is a very skilled perfectionist. Dr. Levy does excellent work and truly cares about his patients. Their Dental Hygienist’s are the best! From personal experience I can definitely attest that their Dental Hygienist, Diane is just so fantastic. She does such a thorough job and goes above & beyond. Diane, D.H. is also very empathetic and truly cares about her patients wellbeing and does everything possible to make your experience a pleasant one. The sterilization at Progressive Dentistry is tops in their field. The dedicated area to sterilization is state-of-the-art!! In closing, I want to make sure that I give a big shoutout to the Dental Team that make everything work there. Office Manager Mindy is excellent! Ms.Toni takes care of the Administrative work and is so nice and does a great job, and Janice & Nancy are extremely helpful as well. Experiencia negativa: I have been with this office long before Dr. Levy took it over from Dr.Costa.the one star has nothing to do with Dr Levy it has to do with his newer employee Mindy. So it’s been 50 years combined I have been a patient.. Although it was hard to see Dr.Costa retire I was blessed with the skills precision and warm welcoming from Dr.Levy which must have been for over 30 years ….until almost two years ago at which time a new employee was hired and her name was Mindy. I was yelled at by her disparaged, humiliated and mistreated. During this time I was having financial issues and sickness in the family. I could not afford a full exam but needed to have a cleaning. I attempted several times to request she have the Dentist contact me and each and everytime I was told no he cannot talk to you I handle everything . I was denied speaking to my doctor that has cared for me for over 30 years.i was hoping to ask him if I can pay him over time as my family was going thru illness and our income as a result was drastically reduced. Mindy refused everytime me speaking to my dentist.my healthcare provider for my teeth. Mindy yelled at me was very unprofessional Very condescending and very uncaring to me and caused Great Depression and upsetness to me. When I finally requested my records as it was clear I was fired as a patient she was arguing with me that the new office would not need Whst I was requesting and .my dental care was delayed as I did not have a new dentist and Mindy refused my request to speak to DrLevy therefore I was unable to see if we could work out a payment plan for just this one time. it took me over a year to find a dentist as Dr Levy was and is the best and I am left with further dental problems due to Mindy refusing my request to see Dr Levy I was not given an opportunity to try to pay him over time this one time and Mindy stated you cannot come here if you dont get all of the work which I would have if I had an opportunity .to speak to Dr Levy to request a payment plan over a few months . Dr Levy is superb in his profession and this office was the finest of fine technically and professionally and personally …WAS …when Susan ran the front desk for so many years there was never once an issue and always welcomed by Susan with pleasantries efficiency timely and just a wonderful employee and person. It seems also as of a few years ago Susan is no longer there and I have reason to believe things went south for her when this new employee was hired . Going to Dr Levy’s office up until these occurrences was like going to see family.but not anymore. I have never been spoken down to yelled at and mistreated by any office up until this experience here. What a loss yo Dr Levy’s as I’m sure I’m not the only patient that was mistreated .
Joyce, I’m sad that such a long-term relationship has ended with you defaming a healthcare team that has always treated you with professionalism and respect. There are two sides to every story.
Your statement that you were “yelled at by her (Mindy) disparaged, humiliated and mistreated” is a complete fabrication. You may have been displeased that we would no longer treat you at our office, but there is no need to lash out with falsehoods.
Your records were sent in a timely manner as you requested. There are no dental records and x-rays presently available going back over 30 years. Moreover, records that old are no longer relevant to one’s present dental condition.
When a patient continues to refuse recommended x-rays and treatment it becomes a liability for the providing heath care professionals. You were told on a prior hygiene visit that unless you complied, we could no longer treat you in our office as continuing to do so would constitute malpractice on our part.
So, to be clear to both you and the reader, you were dismissed from our practice, not for financial reasons, but for failure to comply with the minimum standards necessary for treatment.

Experiencia fantástica: This review is for July 2025. My recent few visits once again were real good experiences. Completely comfortable and pain free. Doctor Levy takes the time to walk you through each step of what he's doing. It puts you at ease. There's no anxiety to know your going to the dentist. Great staff who are friendly and professional. Highly recommend this review is for April 2025. I went in for a routine cleaning, and everything went smoothly. The staff was professional and courteous, and the cleaning was thorough and gentle. I would definitely recommend this dentist to others. I’m also scheduled for a follow-up, and I feel confident and hopeful that he’ll be able to save my upper tooth from needing a root canal. So far, I’m very pleased with the care I’ve received! Been going to Progressive Dentistry for about two years. This is a great place to go to take care of your teeth. Everyone on staff is nice, friendly and professional. My visits with Dr. Levy have always been informative and he makes you feel right at home. The dental hygienist always has a smile on and you could tell she enjoys her work. A great place if your looking for a new Dentist or to change who your going to.

Experiencia fantástica: I recently had a complex dental procedure performed by Dr. Steven Levy of Progressive Dentistry in Merrick, NY and am incredibly impressed with the results and the entire experience. I needed to have six crowns on my top front teeth redone because the previous ones, though only two years old, had been done improperly. From arrival, Dr. Levy's staff was friendly, and my appointment began on time. The initial procedure involved carefully removing the old crowns. Despite the complexity, Dr. Levy's skill was evident; I barely felt the numbing injections, a testament to his gentle technique. He then placed temporary crowns which looked great and were very comfortable. The subsequent appointment which was for the new, permanent crowns went flawlessly. What truly set Dr. Levy apart was his professional and caring demeanor during this several hour procedure. His close attention to my well-being greatly contributed to my comfort. The quality of his work is outstanding. I am absolutely satisfied with my new crowns and can clearly see the difference. They look fantastic, and the entire procedure was handled with utmost professionalism. For excellent results and a compassionate approach, I highly recommend Dr. Steven Levy.

Experiencia negativa: I have been a patient at Progressive Dentistry for nearly 20 years and have always had positive experiences—until my most recent visit. After my cleaning, I noticed a chip in my tooth. When I brought this to the attention of both the hygienist and Dr. Levy, they were adamant that the chip had been there prior to the appointment. While it’s possible I hadn’t noticed it before, I left without any hard feelings and scheduled a follow-up appointment for Dr. Levy to address it. At the follow-up appointment, Dr. Levy asked if I wanted to use a mirror to view a separate issue. I declined, as I was already aware of the situation. After the procedure, I expressed concern that the fix didn’t feel quite right. At this point, the tone of the interaction shifted. When I later used the mirror and asked a question, Dr. Levy raised his voice and waved his finger at me, saying, “This is why I wanted you to look in the mirror, because I knew you would accuse me.” At no point did I make accusations—only raised questions and concerns. Dr. Levy’s dismissive and unprofessional behavior, coupled with his lack of accountability, is unacceptable. To add insult to injury, I was subsequently dismissed as a patient, though I would not have returned after such an experience.
This review is the vindictive response I was expecting from Jessica AFTER I sent her a letter of dismissal from my practice. I will not tolerate a patient who is continuously unfriendly, abusive, accusatory, and nasty to both my team, myself, and our office manager. I will not tolerate a patient who exhibits offensive and loud behavior at our front desk in the reception area. We treat all our patients with kindness and respect and expect something similar in return. I make sure every patient is pleased with our professionalism, the high quality of care we deliver, and the results of the dentistry provided.
Review-wise, healthcare practitioners are at the mercy of disgruntled individuals who are unable to see that their behavior is antisocial and offensive. I could have either let Jessica remain as a patient and upset whomever she’d be in contact with or dismiss her as a patient and suffer a ding to my Google or other social media reviews. My decision was to protect my office from dealing with such unpleasantness.

Her front tooth had minor defects caused by wear and tear. Yet she persisted in accusing the hygienist of “chipping” her tooth. Naturally, this was an unpleasant situation. I assured her upon examination that was not the case.
On the subsequent visit to fill in a hairline defect, she was immediately exhibiting antisocial behavior to my assistant before I even entered the room. Because of this and her previous behavior I wanted Jessica to look in the mirror to see the existing defects and distinct brown staining on her teeth prior to my touching her. She refused. The defect I bonded was so minor and so thin that it did not require an injection. Even viewing with 2 times magnification, which I use for all procedures, the defect was no longer visible. It blended indistinguishably from the surrounding tooth structure.
Immediately upon my finishing, we handed her a mirror, and the accusations began with her saying that the brown and other stains, colorations and marks on her front teeth were not there prior to my touching her. At that point I told her that is why I wanted her to look in the mirror prior to the procedure. She then admitted to being a heavy coffee drinker. I explained the reason for the existence of every line or mark she pointed out that she was accusing me of causing. Some were not even on the tooth I had worked on!
Jessica, your words were not one of questioning but were relentlessly accusatory. I will always take the time to answer any questions to the satisfaction of my patients. A thoughtful dialogue is one that allows for excellence in treatment.
Jessica left my chair appearing satisfied with the bonding, went to our front desk and then carried on boisterously in the reception area about going through the procedure of paying for her treatment! This was in front of an office full of patients.
I then made the decision of dismissing Jessica as a patient to spare my team and myself the unpleasantness of having such an offensive, disruptive individual in my office again.

While filling out the paperwork the receptionist asked if I had insurance and I told her that I did have insurance. She then told me that they didn’t accept any insurance and I’d have to pay out of pocket and submit their bill to my insurance company for reimbursement. Needless to say I gave her the incomplete registration form and left their office having wasted time to go to their office, while feeling like they were disingenuous by not having told me that they didn’t accept any insurance coverage. What a shame, lying to a patient in distress to get them to pay whatever they chose to bill, and them have the patient fight it out with insurance to get reimbursed. I’d never go there again.
Sana, I'm sorry, but your comments are not valid. You spoke to Janice when you scheduled your appointment. I was at our front desk when you called. Janice clearly told you that we do not participate with your insurance company. Additionally, she told you that we would be happy to submit electronically to your insurance company when you come in, but you would be responsible for the fee at the time of service. You agreed and made the appointment for your cleaning.
Just to clarify and to tone down the claims in your review, you did not at anytime, whether making your appointment or when you walked into our office make any mention of being in "distress" or pain. We never turn away an emergency patient.
When you arrived you filled out the paperwork and were asked for your insurance information. Mindy, our office manager, reminded you that we do not participate with your insurance company. So you said that you were going to call your insurance company to find out what your coverage was. You left the office today and did not return.
Janice could not have been more clear when she spoke with you when you made your appointment. Some individuals hear what they want to hear and do not listen to what they are told. That aspect of patient communication is something I can't control. None the less, we always try to make our office policies understood PRIOR to a new patient visiting our office so there are no surprises or misunderstandings..
The very last thing I want as a professional is to have anyone feel that we are not forthright and totally upfront with the treatment we provide or the fees we charge. I do not want my reputation, or that of my office, be ruined by trying to deceive anyone. I'd rather sleep at night knowing I'm a moral and caring individual.

Colin W, I'm sorry you had an unsatisfactory experience, especially when you were in pain, but our administrative team and I are always forthright and honest with our patients. If you did indeed inquire about your insurance needs when you called we would have told you that we do not participate in your particular insurance. Furthermore, if you had asked when you called we would NEVER deflect your inquiry by saying to come to the office to discuss. Your question would be answered over the phone. No one wants their time wasted under any circumstances.
We have a sterling reputation in the area and the last thing we would want to do is sully it by tricking a patient into coming to our office. Sometimes we all think we have done or inquired about something when, in fact, we have not, especially when we're in pain.
I hope you received relief from your discomfort in a timely manner.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Levy and his staff is by far the finest DDS practice that I have had the pleasure of using. I want to thank Susan for arranging to squeeze me in after my front tooth crown broke in half. His dental assistant Michele gave me the TLC needed to keep me in the chair for almost two hours. Prepping, x rays, changing my bib, scanning my mouth with a laser & of course compassion and conversation on her Birthday. Dr. Levy did magic... he is a perfectionist and it showed with his skill in removing the broken crown. He trimmed some teeth to make a much better bite and after repeated and skilled trimming Dr. Levy produced a temporary that was just perfect. Dr. Levy called the lab on Community drive in Manhasset and arranged for me to drive directly there and meet with the tech. Thanks Dr. Levy and your truly amazing staff.

Experiencia fantástica: I went with tooth sensitivity to cold but Dr Levy could not find it. He tapped and used cold Freon on my teeth to no avail. Instead of pulling my cap, we decided to wait and see. Thank you for not causing another problem by having to replace my cap or caps. Very reasonable cost.
