Experiencia positiva: I've been a patient here for several years and originally left a five-star review — I even praised how carefully my fillings were done back then. I'm updating it honestly to three stars to reflect where things stand now. The good is still good. My dentist is excellent — knowledgeable, easy to talk to, and a genuinely good person. The office is clean and the newer location is convenient. None of that has changed. What has changed is the overall experience. The front-desk reception has been noticeably unfriendly, which sets a poor tone before you even sit down. More significantly, a recent filling left me with real pain afterward. I went back to have it checked and was told everything was fine, but I'm still dealing with cold sensitivity in that tooth and I'm concerned about where it's headed. Being told it's "nothing" while still feeling the problem is frustrating. I don't write this lightly, and I still respect my dentist. But the care I experienced this time wasn't on the level it used to be, and I'd rather update my review honestly than leave the old one up as if nothing changed.

She always has a smile on her face and goes out of her way to help, making every visit feel easy and stress-free. Dr. Francisco is an amazing dentist. She consistently checks in during procedures to make sure you’re comfortable, which I really appreciate. She’s not only extremely friendly but also very knowledgeable, and you can tell she truly cares about providing the best possible care. The new Rocky Point location is beautiful. The office feels warm and inviting, and everything—from the ambiance to the equipment—is modern and well thought out. The complimentary coffee is a great touch, too. Highly recommend!

Experiencia negativa: This place is a joke. I’ve never in my life been told by a dental hygienist that I “cannot dictate care.” Let me spell it out: patients absolutely have the right to refuse any procedure, test, or screening. That’s called autonomy. It’s the foundation of medicine. But apparently this know-it-all hygienist thinks she outranks the law, common sense, and even my own body. I wasn’t refusing treatment—I simply declined a blood pressure reading due to white coat syndrome, a very real and well-documented condition. Instead of professionalism, I got arrogance, bullying, and a power trip from someone who isn’t even a dentist. The audacity of a hygienist trying to lecture me that I “can’t dictate care” is laughable. News flash: I dictate everything that happens to me, and the only thing this office dictates is how fast patients walk out the door. If this is how they treat people who advocate for themselves, imagine how they behave when someone is vulnerable or doesn’t push back. I walked out and I’ll never return. There are plenty of dentists who understand patient rights and don’t let their staff talk down to people like they’re children. This office? Nothing but condescension wrapped in a dental smock.

Experiencia fantástica: Such a cute, clean, sweet little office! I’ve been to a few dentists and truly never felt as much care, precision and smarts like I did at Smile Shack! I’ve had some issues with my gums for as long as I can remember and my hygienist, GinaMarie, was so knowledgeable and was able to give me direction and put confidence in me that the problem can be fixed. She showed such care and compassion throughout the entire appt! I’ve 100% found my dental home!

They're extremely thorough with their cleanings, expansive checkups (including for oral cancer), and health info they collect, and they act with curiosity (not just "checking the list") which I really appreciate. Everyone who works there (clinicians and non clinicians) always seem truly welcoming and like they want you, as a patient, to feel like you're actually the human at the center of their care, and not just the object of their job.

Experiencia fantástica: I have really bad dental anxiety as a result of childhood trauma and just a lot of bad dental experiences over the years…I have been neglecting my dental health and was looking for a place where I would feel safe, not judged, and comfortable enough to actually go without experiencing an anxiety attack! I found this place on a google search and after reading the reviews I decided to give it a shot and I am soooo glad I did!! I first met with the dental hygienist, Jean Marie, who is a gem of a human being and who gave me the most thorough dental cleaning I’ve ever had, my teeth felt so much cleaner after!! She listened and didn’t judge and made me feel safe and welcomed….it set the tone for the rest of my interactions in this office and I can’t wait to go back to see her for my next cleaning!! I saw Dr Francisco who was patient and explained everything to me, checked in with me often and ensured I was comfortable the whole time…she was excellent and I feel safe in her capable hands entrusting her with my dental care. I am so impressed with this dental office and going here is totally worth the 1hr plus commute for me!! Grateful I found them and highly recommend them!!

Diane is a super fun person and I loved working with her on the phone and in person to set up my appointments! They are extremely knowledgeable about your dental care but your mouth care including your throat! X-rays and digital photos were a breeze thanks to the hygienist Jeanne Marie. She made my sensitive gag reflex go away thanks to her techniques she gave me to do while she did the X-ray and cleaning. The way she educated me on my dental health and care is unmatched to any other practice I have gone to. Dr. Lei is wonderful as well. Everyone has a very compassionate bedside manner. I felt inducted into a super family. I look forward to going back to get my dental work done. Thank you Smile Shack!!!

Experiencia negativa: I had 2 fillings done by Dr Shack fall out and a filling replacement done by Dr Shack left the tooth edge too narrow and weak causing it to chip easily. In my experience Dr Shack was reluctant (or unable) to explain and rationalize care, and tended toward unnecessary work. So hard to find a good dentist.

Dr. Shack is the best dentist around hands down. I was in the Dental field for many years. I have had my front teeth and many other caps from her. That included implant caps. My husband had all his front teeth recapped. We have great smiles now! She does excellent work and is so proficient in what she does.

My first dentist tells me that I should not be feeling pain coz I had enough anesthesia and he kept going til I finally told him to stop. This was my first traumatic experience. You can imagine what I told him. " Bye" Last time I saw that one. Othres that follow seem to do the same. Shame. Dr Shack cares and explains by showing X-rays on her up to date equipments. She would go in detail with what needs to be done to have a healthy set of teeth. Bless you Dr. Shack. Keep up the good work. Staffs are great and friendly.

Dr. Shack herself was also very kind, sweet and knowledgeable. And last but not least, Diane at the front desk is such a pleasure! I inquired a bit and it seems like the staff have been together a long time and that to me says A LOT! Thankful to be back in regular treatment with such a pleasant team.
