Experiencia fantástica: I chose NY Dental Group for my complex dental work, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. Dr. Katayev was very attentive during the assessment and provided me with a variety of treatment options. As a Health Care Assistant Director of Operations, I have experience managing a dental office and a strong understanding of the business. I know that dental care can be quite expensive. I have a Union Dental insurance plan with a $2,400 annual cap, which isn't enough to cover the extensive work I need. I appreciated that Dr. Katayev assigned me a financial counselor who explained all the resources available to me. Mrs. Elizabeth was very knowledgeable about their financial system, which made me feel comfortable with the pricing and the quality of the porcelain crowns. After four months of treatment, I can confidently say that the NY Dental Group office in Coop City is an excellent dental practice that meets all my expectations. The exam rooms were clean and adhered to all infection control rules and regulations--this was my first consideration when choosing this facility. Additionally, the customer service is outstanding. I was pleasantly surprised on my first visit when the receptionist greeted me by saying, "You can have a seat, Ana," without me even having to tell them who I was. The system had my picture, and they made it a priority to know their patients. I also want to give a shout-out to the clinical team assigned to me. During my first visit, I underwent the initial treatment for an implant placement. Dr. Katayev was fantastic, and the procedure was quite tolerable; I would rate the pain as a four out of ten. Dr. Katayev later introduced me to Dr. Daniel Ilayaich, DDS, and Mrs. Karen, the dental assistant, and what a team they are! Dr. Daniel is very courteous, and his empathy and compassion for his patients were evident through his actions. He excels at his work because he truly loves what he does. Mrs. Karen is a sweetheart, gentle and compassionate with her patients while assisting Dr. Daniel. I am truly grateful to have such a wonderful team taking care of me. Many practices demonstrate courtesy, but few embody all three qualities: courtesy, empathy, and compassion. I wholeheartedly recommend the NY Dental Group of Coop City for any dental work, especially the clinical team of Dr. Katayev, DDS, Dr. Daniel Ilayaich, DDS, Mrs. Karen, and Mrs. Lisa the Dental Assistants. Experiencia negativa: Wasn’t really a pleasant experience Especially the financial lady with the Exophthalmos. She wasn’t very kind and was very sarcastic. That’s not cool.

Experiencia negativa: I have a very sordid story to tell for what has happened to me over the past year and a half at this place. My husband has a story as well. It is just too long to type. I see some reviews of people that are very satisfied with their service here and that was me prior to this year and a half. I have been a patient here for 18 years. Today I was treated very poorly by Dr. Katayev and his staff and intentionally made to wait 30 minutes passed my appointment time with no one but me in the waiting room. It was to make me feel humiliated and to waste my time. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this office and I will be reporting them to the New York State Education Department (NYSED) Office of Professional Discipline (OPD) and seeking legal action. There are only a few reviews here. Do a search of Dr. Katayev’s name and you will see the bad reviews and the real truth according to multiple people. Do not go here. There are other dentists.

Experiencia negativa: Just got what felt like a shakedown. Brought my daughter in for cleaning 2 weeks ago. They did her x-rays only and told me that the hygienist was out, so we would have to come back. Questionable. Here we are today for the cleaning, and I'm being told that I have to pay $75 for a rinse or else my daughter cannot have her cleaning. This seems like an optional service that I am being forced to pay for in order to get the cleaning covered by my insurance. Definitely reporting this to the Bureau of Consumer Affairs. I went ahead and paid for it because I really wanted my daughter's teeth to be cleaned, and because it's been difficult to find a provider accepting our insurance.

Experiencia positiva: Sharing my first-time visit experience here with just a little feedback, as I’m sure it was simply a busy day for the clinic. The office itself is very small with limited seating, and from what I overheard, it was only a two-doctor day. It felt like more patients were arriving than leaving, which made the lobby extremely crowded. I think enforcing a 15-minute check-in window for appointments could help reduce congestion, especially since many patients were elderly or using walkers and other mobility aids who genuinely needed seating. There also wasn’t much privacy at the reception area while speaking with the three receptionists. I overheard another patient visibly upset while discussing a cancellation fee, and conversations carried easily throughout the waiting room. My appointment was scheduled for 1 PM, but I wasn’t seen until about an hour later. I only came in as a new patient to establish care and have a cleaning done. The hygienist was kind, though after I declined the additional recommended services, the cleaning did feel somewhat rushed. My interaction with the doctor was brief, and I was again advised about the recommended services and told to follow up again in six months. I also purchased a mouthwash product during my visit ($50), but realized afterward it was expired. I returned to the office and was given a replacement, although it was a different version than the one I originally purchased. I was assured the product was the same. Overall, I understand this may have just been an unusually busy or off day for the clinic. I am hesitant about returning, but I would like to give the office another chance because the location is extremely convenient for me and they accept Healthfirst insurance.

Experiencia negativa: Initially, I gave this office a 5-star review, but after my experience over the past two weeks, I feel compelled to change it to 1 star due to serious concerns regarding communication, organization, and transparency. When I first contacted the office, I was told they accepted my insurance. After my cleaning appointment, however, I was informed that I needed a wisdom tooth extraction and a root canal, and that they were supposedly waiting on my insurance company to determine coverage. I was told this process could take up to two weeks. During that time, I made several follow-up calls and was repeatedly placed on hold, asked multiple times for my information, and given vague or inconsistent answers. The overall experience felt disorganized and unprofessional. What ultimately raised the biggest concern for me was contacting my insurance company directly after receiving little clarity from the office. My insurance provider informed me they did not see any pending requests, claims, or information matching what the office had been telling me. That completely changed my perspective on the situation and left me questioning the honesty and transparency of the communication I received. I was also uncomfortable with certain personal questions asked during my visit that seemed unrelated to my dental care, such as questions about my work schedule and occupation. Combined with the conflicting opinions I received regarding the condition of my teeth, the experience left me feeling uneasy and uncertain about the recommendations being made. Patients deserve clear communication, honesty regarding insurance matters, and professionalism throughout the entire process. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I cannot recommend this office.

Experiencia fantástica: Hygienist name Mister Ya Ya at Dental Group NY, 140 De Kruif Place, Bronx, NY; he is the best of all. Hygienist Mr. Ya Ya does a thorough job. My teeth and gums feel absolutely 100% clean, free of anything in between the teeth and gums. Plus Hygenist Mr. Ya Ya is very patient and kind. Myself and my two 19 year twin sons, we have been coming to this Dental Group NY for five years. Hygienist Ya Ya is double that five star rating. He gets ten stars from me, and the staff at the front desk reception, they are very professional and respectful, and they always call with reminders and follow up calls to me and my sons. Experiencia negativa: This place is horrible. They are all about money. I went there, they did x-rays. They said I needed to come back the following week for the cleaning, and I needed to get an implant. I also go to Wally, dentist for cleanings. After having braces I like cleanings every two months instead of 6 months or 1 year. The following week, I told the hygienist that wally said I had pockets of gingervitist. He said it was a waste of time cleaning my teeth. I needed a laser cleaning for $3000. The week before the insurance person said it would cost $5000 for the implant. I asked her what about my insurance. I was told insurance does not pay for implants. After seeing the hygienist I spoke to her again and she said maybe she do everything for $7500. I went home called another dentist they said there was deep cleaning they can do that's covered by my insurance. I called my insurance and was told yes I can get it done in April, because they put me in for cleaning so I need to wait the 6 months. I called and spoke with front desk person and she said she would contact the insurance to remove the cleaning, which she never did. During the call she let slip, that there was deep cleaning I could, why was going straight to laser. Come to find out my insurance gives 1 implant for a life time. And one is all I need. I am now having structural issues because I had a tooth pulled in the back. These people are all about money at the risk of me having teeth issues. I don't have cavities or any other problems. My gums are being affected because my tooth does not have the support it needs in the back on the bottom. Whatever you do if your looking for a new dentist this ain't it. They came highly recommended. But I come to the conclusion that new people they don't think knows any better, will be taken for as much money as they can messing with them. I don't know if the dentist is in on it, but definitely that insurance lady and the hygienist are scamming. She is supposed to know what insurance offers. She was going to charge me $5000, I could get for free. The hygienist completely skipped over the deep cleaning my insurance pays for, the one I really need, to laser cleaning for $3000. And the lady pretending to be doing me a favor to take off $500. They want me to pay $7500 for work I don't need, and some my insurance will pay for. $0 versus $7500 is crazy. BE CAREFUL!! DO YOUR RESEARCH! GET A SECOND OPINION!! ESPECIALLY IF YOU GO TO THIS LOCATION!! Today I heard from the manager who says its a miss understanding. She is going to send the information to the insurance company to remove the cleaning. I have been trained in active listening. She went from saying she did not know my insurance gave an implant, to saying she has the same insurance and they denied her to saying she had a client that won her appeal, and got her implant approved, after I said the insurance company said if you get denied the first time, appeal it. She is inviting me back to get my work done there. The only problem is I value honesty. I don't like people trying to handle me, or talk to me like im dumb. She gave me an excuse as to why the hygienist went straight to lazer cleaning. Bottom line, im going to a new dentist start fresh, figure everything out that's going on with my teeth and go from there. I know they only reached out because of my review, but i'll give them another star for calling and telling the health insurance to fix the issue. I still feel like I was a quick money grab, so I can't go any higher than that. She does not understand that telling she has the same insurance and a client who ended up appealing and getting the implant, makes her really look bad, and substantiates my feelings, because she never mentioned the possibility of the insurance paying for it the first time. But maybe she'll know now after reading this review. Good, bad, or indifferent, HONESTY IS ALWAYS THE BEST POLICY!!! I can respect that all day, every day!!! If I don't come back to edit it means they kept there word. I was going to delete, but she never called my insurance back to 1*.

But I was hoodwinked into a "deep cleaning" bill which was out of pocket and because of time restraints on my part and not doing the research, I'm now stuck an extra expense. They're good but BEWARE. They are going to have you believe that a "laser" cleaning is necessary, when in all actuality you probably don't. Do your homework, if you have full coverage like I do.

Although they did try to push laser treatment and didn't look happy when I said that I wasn't planning on paying out of pocket today, they still did the work and kept my 8 yr old crown in place. I also was able to get the appt on the same day after Hutch Metro Dental told me they stopped taking my insurance 2 hrs b4 the appt. Wasn't perfect, but it was okay.

Experiencia negativa: This place is a scam!! I took my elderly mother here for dentures and they tried to push implants on her which she would have to pay for herself. My mom has insurance that covers her dentures and she is too old to undergo such an invasive surgery. I explained that to the receptionist but she insisted that implants were the best option for her as per the dentist. I left very confused and disappointed. As well as angry for waisting our time. Avoid unless you want to get ripped off.

Sue, the Dental Assistant was very personable and pleasant as she took my X-rays. Dr. Benjamin, the dentist, introduced himself before getting straight to any work and then explained his process of what he was going to do. He then asked me the purpose of my visit. This was important to me and I appreciated it because he acknowledged me as his patient, allowed me to have a voice and actually listened to what I said. This may seem like a no brainer to some but you would be surprised to know that some doctors actually lack this basic skill. Thank you Dental Group for a pleasant experience.

Experiencia negativa: I was also told I need to pay out of pocket and for different reasons...They threw a lot of medical terminology at me that I had to ask what does that mean A waste of time dealing with this place. The girls at the front desk were not inviting as they hide behind that tall desk.

I am very pleased with the work that Dr. Ilyach and Dr. Performed on my teeth. I am looking forward to finishing the work on my lowers in the near future.

Experiencia negativa: I had originally made an appointment for last Friday, but unfortunately had to reschedule for today Monday 03/31 due to personal reasons. I arrive on today after traveling all the way over here to be told that my insurance did not want to pay for another x-ray as I had just recently had an x-ray done within the last six months but me being a new patient there I would need a new one and would be required to have x-ray and wanted me to pay $120 upfront with no notice or anything. When asked why I was not told this over the phone as I called and spoke to people several times. Was told that because the staff that I spoke with is not there it is nothing they can do but apologize for wasting my time. Left and will not be returning customer service 0/10
