Experiencia negativa: I came in to replace my Hawley retainer from receiving one almost ten years ago from Dr. Shoup/family orthodontics, back in July. No problem. The new female Dr and her assistants were nice. The price for a new retainer and appointment fee was over $255 dollars. So fine, I needed a new hawley retainer. Waited over two weeks never received a call, so I finally called. Receptions said, on its here. We have it. So I had to make an appointment for that. Day of appointment, I’m sitting in the chair and the assistant pulls out some cheap plastic retainer. Something that I know I didn’t pay for. I paid for the Hawley retainer and in which the new female Dr. never mentioned to me that they can’t make it no more. She asked me if I have a dentist. And tell my dentist that I needed a flipper. Helloo, I use my current broken retainer as a flipper. I just wanted you guys to replace my Hawley Retainer with a new Hawley retainer. I wouldn’t have wasted my money nor time if you said you couldn’t to begin with!!! So now, Im still waiting on my refund which has been over two weeks.?!? Never will I ever do business with this company.

Any time I have a question or concern about my braces or my teeth, she takes the time to listen, explain everything to me, and make sure I feel completely comfortable before I leave. What I appreciate most is that you can genuinely tell that she cares about her patients and the quality of care she provides. She is thorough, gentle, knowledgeable, and always makes sure my teeth are well taken care of. I never feel rushed or like I'm asking too many questions she's always willing and happy to help. Having braces is a whole journey , and having someone like Keda taking care of me makes the experience SO much better. She deserves every bit of these five stars and more! Their 3rd party servicer they use for scheduling, gave me wrong information on my appointment arrival time. I drive over 45 mins to my appointment, and for them to have to turn me around and re-schedule me. That is a huge inconvenience and I am not happy with that at all. I hope this does not continue or I will have to file a complaint with the BBB

I arrived for my appointment to only find out that my trays were delivered however they are currently lost. What a waste of my time and gas. I was informed once they locate them I will be rescheduled. This is so unprofessional, after all the trays cost over $2,000.00. Maybe I will receive a discount for the inconvenience.

And I'm like okay so when no one got me otp yall just did it y'all's self and didn't think to notify me.. They have all my information this is not my first time there.. she was very nonchalant and proceeded to tell me yeah your appointment is on the 21st .. Experiencia negativa: Unfortunately, my experience did not meet the level of care and service I have come to expect from a health care provider. Specifically, we were advised on three separate visits that we had an outstanding balance for my kid’s braces after these were paid in full almost an entire two year ago. We provided the receipt each time and was advised this was adjusted accordingly. Then we’re told that he needs continued coverage for another year and they’re requesting an additional $5K, well he has insurance and it’s covered per my conversation with our insurance company. However, each time we’ve attempted to speak with someone we’re routed to a call center, delaying my kids service now for almost 2 months! With only text message responses resulting in no solution or resolution. The lack of professional is unacceptable and simply poor. Their staffing issues is not our (Customers) fault, it’s poor leadership. There are supplemental staffing options available however that would require someone to be concerned enough to consult with those staffing vendors. The inadequate communication, unprofessional behavior, or issues with treatment, is totally unacceptable. I appreciate the importance of providing high-quality patient care and understand that challenges can arise; however, I believe it is important to address these issues so that future patients do not encounter the same difficulties. My kid is still at home, with broken brackets due too a lack of follow through and accessibility. (Now approaching 3 Months) I would not recommend this provider to ANYONE!

While waiting to be seen the front desk person forgot to check me in and I waited almost two hours. And not to mention once I got in the back the employees were arguing about who leaves first, why doesn't everyone just leave at the same time. The lady who was changing out my bracket kept rushing and hurting my mouth. after finish up my mouth was hurting and bleeding. I stopped at the check-out desk and ask could I have the manger name and they told me they couldn't give out the manager whole name..( Just the First name) I didnt even get an appointment for an follow-up. They told me someone would call to give me an appointment and two months later they say the calender is still close and they doesn't know when will i'll be able to get in.

Experiencia negativa: If I could give them negative stars I would! I had treatment with them once before around 2014 and it was great but this time around has been a HORRIBLE experience!! Within 2 weeks of getting my braces put on, I had to go back 3 times to get an adjustment because of brackets coming off (no I didn’t eat hard foods!) and wires cutting into my lips and gums. Since then, I’ve had 3 appts get cancelled or rescheduled and when I do go in, I always have to end up coming back for an additional adjustment because of wires cutting me because they’re loose. I’ve only had them on since June so you do the math!! This last time was the absolute last straw for me. I had an appt on September 25. Drove 45 minutes there, took 4 hours off work only to get there and see a sign on the door that they were closed for the entire week. No one even bothered to call or email me to let me know they were closed. I’ve since decided to transfer my treatment to a different orthodontist because at this point it’s been 10+ weeks since I had an adjustment. I’ve called every single day since September 25 only to be told every time that they are CLOSED but will reopen the next day. The next day comes and they’re closed again. Don’t even think about getting your orthodontic treatment here. These people are HORRIBLE!!!!! I don’t recommend this office at all

Experiencia positiva: My experience with Family Orthodontics Conyers Location is a compilation of positive yet fluctuating. The staff is mostly supportive and polite with all appointments including my favorite dental assistant, Taylor and the front desk receptionist, Natalie. The treatment plan remained for a total of 32 months to improve my bite, impacted canine, and spacing. My only complaints are to improve on the staffing shortage experienced with the assistants and set orthodontist. During my treatment period, I have experienced roughly three different orthodontists and multiple assistants. Also, this location was closed indefinitely in early 2023 for multiple weeks- delaying all adjustments for their patients which caused a minor delay in treatment completion. The best period has been my final year with braces as my appointments were consistent- every 4 weeks and amazing recent staff! My favorite is the X-Ray Tech, Brayan whom has an amazing spirit and was very jovial during the entire process with my piercing fiasco .

Once there was a staffing change, the professionalism and level of care went away. They do not follow or have treatment plans; its a real joke. With the prior team, they would give updates on my son's progression and what to expect next. This new team says nothing. Even during scheduling, they lady would say mom his next appointment is going to be longer so do you need morning or afternoon. This chick now doesn't even acknowledge you when you walk-in. Oh wait the tech did have my son call me to ask if I wanted his braces to be taken off! My response was what does his treatment plan say? When I met with the new doctor, I was told to just accept the state of his teeth as a win because they can not correct the overbite. Its unfortunate that franchise healthcare organizations such as Family Orthodontics have become so awful. My one star it by default.

He was waited a minimum of 30 minutes every visit. Calling and scheduling appointments takes forever and if disconnected they do not call back. The doctors and staff don’t talk to the parents. Overall, it was a long few years stuck with Family Orthodontics due to our Network options. If you can, find another provider to avoid the headaches!!!!

Experiencia negativa: BEWARE!! I became a client of this location in 2018 when my children needed braces. The orthodontist and support staff were fantastic then. The decline began post Covid when the office reopened and most of their top notch staff were no longer employed. Based on my previous experience, I chose them for my own orthodontic treatment. It was a disaster from the beginning… The former office manager mishandled the financial agreement, and it took months to sort that out. I was told I needed an 18 month treatment plan, and it took nearly 3 years. This was due to seeing 9 different orthodontists over that time period, and each one disagreed with the course of action from the last. In addition to the aforementioned issues, most of the staff is beyond unprofessional. With the exception of the office manager, Sheila, and a few young ladies in the back (don’t know their names), the entire staff should be replaced. They openly discuss their inappropriate personal matters and their feelings about patients in front of other patients in the waiting room and treatment area, speak disrespectfully to patients, and provide a general lack of overall customer service. The young lady at the reception desk is one of the worst. She never greets anyone and exudes attitude if she has to actually help you. Both of my children will need phase 2 braces, but I will not be returning with them to this office or any other Family Orthodontics location. Please do your research before signing a contract with this establishment!

I came Monday and had to come back Wednesday for them to fix my retainer. The doctor was not informative at all because when I came back I was then told I was due for a new permanent retainer which was not discussed the first initial visit. This staff is not PROPERLY TRAINED. Save your money and time.

My son’s appliance broke Thursday night and saw that they are open in Conyers on Friday and was sure that he would be able to be squeezed in. Only to find out that the office is not open on Fridays. And we are having to wait until Monday to be seen. Such a disappointment.

Experiencia negativa: It pays to read the reviews before you pick a dentist office. IMO this place is a scam. I also waited to be seen for my first visit for 1.5 hours. Then when I got back there I still waited another 30 minutes. Now I asked to step outside at the 1.5 mark. Ik I was growing frustrated and asked for a call when they were ready to see me. So to sit in a chair another 30 minutes is crazy. I stayed because it’s been yrs and ik I needed to be seen. However even after my 2.5 hour visit I still had to wait another 30 minutes on a treatment plan to be drawn up. I can’t say with wholeheartedness that it’s a scam because I’m not a professional but to go from minor to major repairs needed because I switched doctors offices… is crazy. I will say the staff was kind but I could have done without kind and opted for fast. This would NOT be my recommendation to you if you’re looking for a new dentist. I would never choose to go to any appointment that didn’t give me proper notification that the appointments run over like this. I could have had surgery faster than the time I was seen for a “treatment plan”.. smh

When ask the receptionist what’s going on she just stats that they are behind and nothing they can do. Crazy part is it always like this. They always give the excuse that they had call outs but I’m done hearing I’m starting to believe it’s bogus and they say that so we can be understanding but I don’t understand anymore it’s the same excuse.

I cancel when I had my son retainer removed after having parts fall off and equipment was in his mouth more than 3-5 months. Told them and signed forms to cancel and to find out they were still charging us. Check with your insurance company and banks they steals and think they can get away with it. Don’t never erase or throw away documents, I had to hire a lawyer today just sad

I drove all the way over there just for the desk clerk to tell me to reschedule. Mind you the grace period is 15 minutes after your appointment. I arrived 1 minute before and still was told to reschedule.

Experiencia positiva: Our experience hasn't been bad, but it hasn't been excellent either. Pleasant atmosphere, wait time 10-15 minutes. Professional and friendly staff. My daughter has been so anxious to get her braces. We went in for a consultation in early May. The office manager went above and beyond to schedule her the next day to get her braces. That was very much appreciated! However, I didn't know until after the procedure that they only do the top braces and 6 weeks later the bottom. I would've liked to have known that in advance. Five minutes after we left, a bracket came off. We went back, and they fixed it w/o a problem. TODAY, we went to get her bottom braces. Once again, a bracket came off. Went back, and they fixed it. I'm not sure what's going on with that. Besides the inconveniences, we're pleased.

Experiencia negativa: Please do not use this office! CONS - Unorganized: They do not honor your appointment time. I waited over an hour in the waiting room before the front desk manager informed me that they forgot to call my name and we’re going to try to “work me in”. After waiting two hours, I had to reschedule my appointment pushing my treatment time back several weeks. - They canceled my upcoming appointment because they said the doctor they scheduled will not be available. They told me the earliest time they would be able to reschedule me was three weeks away. - Poor communication: I asked to speak with an office manager and was told they are out of the office. I asked to speak with the supervisor in charge and was told they didn’t have one. I asked the Family Orthodontics communication manager for the number to customer service and they said they do not have a customer service department. - Billing Issues: The billing manager incorrectly inputted my billing information and caused me a higher out of pocket fee. 6 months later I was informed that the manager was fired because there were several billing issues and discrepancies with customers. The new billing manager was awesome and helped me resolve the billing issues. Save your time & go somewhere else!

Experiencia negativa: The office lacks customer service. They are also very rude instead of taking their rude conversations to the back they sit under their masks and talk trash while eyeballing you. As women please do better. If you don’t have time for customer service don’t work in a customer service field. When customers are paying for a service, customers expect good customer service. The scheduling isn’t done properly at all, waiting over an hour is insane. My appointment was rescheduled at the last minute months ago, they called me to reschedule I mentioned it wasn’t a good time for me but they scheduled me for some random day. I didn’t receive any type of follow up email or call. After calling to reschedule my own appointment they got me in ASAP but failed to let me know that we would be worked in. I appreciate the efforts but it did not work with my schedule. After a full waiting room was cleared out they called …. Completely unacceptable.

Experiencia negativa: I went in to get my bracket replaced and they didn’t give me all the options of paying the fee for a replacement or making another appointment to get a replacement or just clipping it off, they just clip it off and I had to hold open my own mouth and the lady that I had told me that they don’t do replacements and had just walked away after she did it an had a it is what it is attitude now my tooth is shifting and aching.

Experiencia negativa: so when i had my consultation here in august of 2022, everyone seemed really nice and everything seemed good. and the first couple of appointments i had was fine as well. i would only have to wait in the waiting room for a couple of minutes, but recently my last few appointments they have been horrible. they will give you an appointment at a certain time but give an appointment to someone else also at the same time. so the waiting time now is about an hour. they will unexpectedly cancel or reschedule your appointment. they’ve done this to me twice. the first time they did it they supposedly said they called to make us aware of this change, but nor me or my mom got a call from them about any type of change. so they just unexpectedly rescheduled my appointment for the next day because they don’t have a permanent doctor and they closed that day because of that. what orthodontist doesn’t have a permanent doctor, it’s ridiculous. so now recently they did the same thing. i had an appointment next week and they canceled it again because they don’t have a doctor, but this time they didn’t reschedule it. so i call to reschedule it and the lady tells me that they don’t have anything until MARCH. that’s putting my treatment behind for a whole month. but they don’t care. as long as they get they’re money. so now i don’t have my monthly check up in february because of them. it’s ridiculous how we have to be on their timing. they are really inconsiderate and could care less if they canceled, rescheduled, or if your treatment gets pushed back for a whole month. and if they know they won’t have a doctor for that specific day, why give people appointments for that day.
