Too tiny for anesthesia, her father and I were so scared for her having to be awake for the whole procedure but she ended up being the biggest tiny trooper ever and didn't even cry. All the thanks go out to Dr Port and Brianne for their amazing dental skills, professionalism and kindness. I just wish I knew about this place for kiddos sooner!!! The hygienist was wonderful with my children and Dr. Port was professional and informative. She made sure that I felt comfortable with her treatment plan and went out of her way to get me some information I requested. Everyone in the office was very friendly. The kids said it was the best dentist office they have been to.

They explained step by step what was going to happen, had amazing patience for the little ones, distractions in every corner. Overall let me say every single person in this office where great, heartwarming and I strongly recommend Port pediatric dentistry to every parents.

Experiencia negativa: I would give zero stars it this allowed. I would not recommend Dr Port. Sadly our daughter was feeling anxious and we had a negative experience with Dr Port. She was cold and offered very little encouragement. She told my daughter she could either get in the chair or mom would have to hold her down. She sat and looked on with what was felt to be a great deal of judgment as a parent rather than advice or encouragement. She also knew my daughter was anxious upon arrival and had the chair all the way down in an uncomfortable position, even for adults, from the start and then did a quick exam which my daughter was complaint with…a huge win for my daughter met with no praise…then proceeded to turn her back and take notes on her computer giving my daughter much too long to wait laying back in the chair rather then seeing the compliance and moving forward with trying to quickly clean her teeth. I feel she set her up for failure rather than success. It was very disappointing and we will never go back. I just hope it doesn’t further add to my daughters anxiety about the dentist.

Experiencia fantástica: Wow! I was so impressed with Port Pediatric Dentistry! We found them when our dentist my kids have been seeing for 5 years told us we might be better off seeing a pediatric dentist because of the “scope of work” my son had to have done which really was a handful of cavities. He has always been a very good brusher and even flosses! My other dentist made me feel judged and obviously didn’t believe my son takes care of his teeth. The staff at Port Pediatric was welcoming and put my anxious son at ease within 5 minutes of being there. Dr. Port explained and showed me everything she was seeing and recommended not filling the cavities as they are on baby teeth that he will be losing very soon (which we could see thanks to a 360 degree x-ray they used). She even complemented my son on how well he takes care of his teeth and that she could tell he is a good brusher and that he flosses regularly (he really does!). I have never been to a dentist so thorough and patient-focused! My other dentist would have filled every single one of those cavities and also pushed for a pricey tooth sealant which we have shelled out money for in the past because we were essentially guilted into it. My son LOVED it there and randomly tells me he can’t wait to go to his next appointment. All 4 of my children have now been switched over to Port Pediatric Dentistry and I know they will be well taken care of! 10/10!

Experiencia negativa: Dr. Port over-diagnosed my son for his first ever dentist appt. Upon receiving a second opinion, we discovered that he did not need nearly as much work done as she intended to do. Her demeanor was very intense and scary - they also took my son away from me without asking so that I could talk with the doctor and go over X-rays. We appreciated the kindness of the hygienist but I would never recommend receiving any other treatment here. They also do not offer any discounts for those without dental insurance and the front desk staff pushed me to pay the bill without ever seeing an itemized receipt. Overall a MONEY GRAB.

Experiencia fantástica: They are incredible!! I drive from Grand Rapids to bring my six kids! They often get us all in together and Dr Port has even help me with dental emergencies when I was out of the country! The best is my kids look forward to dental visits!! Win!!

But all 4 of my kids actually look forward to going to the Dentist, so it’s more than worth it. The office staff are all super helpful and kind. The dental assistants/hygienists always make my kids feel special and at ease. And Dr. Port is always the best. Always explains things so we understand what’s going on, friendly, and all around just great! No matter what my kids have had done for dental work, they have always looked forward to it and without tears. I can’t imagine a better Pediatric Dentist!

Experiencia negativa: My 4 year old autistic grandson went for his appointment and he was scared to death. They put him what looked like to be a literal straight jacket to hold him down as he was screaming and gasping for breath and at that point my husband said this is enough and we are not going to traumatize him. He was set up for another appt and the day he was supposed to go he was very sick so we called the office to reschedule and the front desk lady said they were cancelling his appt and was not to come back and they were discharging him from their practice. My 15 year old grandson had an appt today to get his teeth cleaned and he had been going to this dentist since he was a small child. He got their early and walked in and was then told he was also discharged from the practice for no apparent reason and then told there was an email sent out saying such. WHAT PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE does that, discharges one child because he is autistic and is scared to death and may have a hard time in the chair and then on top of that discharge the other child just because and after he has been a client for over 10 years. Then you don't even call the parents or even talk to them to coordinate care with another dentist you send an email that they never even received. YOUR OFFICE is so very unprofessional and you should not be recommended to anybody, especially people that have special needs children.

Experiencia fantástica: My 5 yo son had his first dental visit with Port Pediatric Dentistry yesterday! The whole experience was a dream come true! My son is on the spectrum, non-verbal, and staff were beyond amazing with him. The amount of patience they gave him to ease himself into each new space was so special and appreciated. Medical appointments are typically challenging, but the kind staff here made an incredible difference in what was anticipated to be a difficult time. At previous dental appointments, with other facilities, it had never been attempted to clean my son’s teeth before, because of his crying and nervousness. I was so happy to see the dentist immediately confident to clean his teeth, and she did an amazing job!! Both the dentist and assistant were comforting and assuring my son he was doing a good job! Staff was very attentive to me, as well, giving me plenty of opportunities to ask questions and discuss the information I was receiving. Even though my son stayed loud throughout the cleaning, he still behaved much more comfortably than previous experiences! He even chose to stay longer in the waiting room after the appointment was complete to keep playing with the toys! Can’t say enough good things about our visit! I left with a full heart and a weight off my shoulders

Experiencia positiva: I’ve waited a while to write this review because I wanted to make sure I was calm and in the right mindset. My thoughts still stand with my original review but this one is for a different circumstance. My 2 year old daughter had a procedure for caps at the end of January. They did a wonderful job on her teeth and the staff was very friendly. The only negative thing I have to say is they need to figure out a different routine for putting littles under. I wasn’t allowed to get her calmed down in the room or anything before the procedure. They had to take her out of my arms kicking and screaming for mama. My heart was broken. I cried almost the entire time she was back there. It was very disheartening to start the procedure that way. The next time we were there my girl did NOT want to go in. Even though everything went great, that really ruined the experience for me and my husband. It was so sad to see our girl so scared before her first procedure and first time being put under. I was told there wasn’t enough room for me to be in there until she started to doze off. I understand the anesthesiologist needed eyes on her the entire time and I absolutely respect that. But the way that was handled was awful in my opinion.

The office is clean & inviting. They have a treehouse for the kids to play in with a movie playing while they wait for Dr. Port to come and do her exam. I’m beyond thankful for finding Dr. Port. Today my daughter had some work done and they did amazing keeping her calm and helping her every step of the way. Now they will be our regular dentist. My daughter loves them there.
