Dr. Blacker’s office is warm, bright, and inviting. Joanna, his Director of First Impressions, was friendly, upbeat, and full of smiles. The team was punctual, and our appointment started right on time. They even had fresh sugar cookies, bottled water, and mini chapstick available for patients, small touch, big impact. My son is 11, and they had him complete a short, age appropriate form with questions that helped Dr. Blacker and the team build quick kid-friendly rapport. It made him feel comfortable and confident right away. I also appreciated that the TV was on a YouTube channel called “Brain Bites” with fun facts and brain teasers instead of the usual local news that can add stress and noise. If you’re looking for an orthodontic office that’s doing it right from pillar to post, come post up with Dr. Blacker and his team. Five star experience for a five-star smile.

Experiencia negativa: I was a patient at this office and have experienced ongoing issues with communication and follow-up after completing my treatment. Once treatment is finished, there is little to no post-care support from the office. Recently, when I called with a question, I spoke with Joanna, who was unwilling to assist me, provided no alternative options, and ended the call quickly. When I requested to speak with an office manager, I was informed that they don't have an office manager and that no one would be able to assist me further. This has been a consistent experience since completing my treatment. The staff are not responsive to former patients, and there is no clear process for addressing questions or concerns after treatment has concluded. Patients considering this office should be aware that post-treatment communication and support are minimal. Correction: During our call, Joanna mentioned that she would have the financial coordinator contact me, but I never received a call from anyone in the office.

Throughout the year, they kindly guided me through the process of treatment, changing and cleaning trays, fixing alignment hooks, and adjusting to my new smile! Experiencia positiva: I am posting this review for today's visit. During today's visit, my son's braces need to be adjusted. The lady performing the work seemed not fluent in her work. It took her a long time to do it, while my son's mouth was kept open, which is very uncomfortable. She also ignored my questions (maybe too much focusing on her work?). Some work also needed to be redone after checking. Finally, my son mentioned the brace at the very back bothering him. She provided a wax box. However, it was hard for my son to put it on. However, she showed no willingness to help. Eventually we left without putting on the wax. She also forgot to give my son the Blacker Bucks, which is a big deal for the kids. They are not really follow the existing rules for giving out Blacker Bucks, which demotivates the kids. The front desk lady was also not friendly, and didn't know where to see the Blacker Buck rules. Overall, it was a bad experience today. I wish we see someone else next time. Additional comments: after posting the review, the clinic called us and offered to fix any problem with my son. With that, I am revising the review to 3 stars.

Experiencia negativa: Blacker Orthodontics, this review is for Joana. I did post comments on your website under “Contact us” and “How are we doing” sections. I was not sure who is reading these sections and I decided to post a review on Google as well. I used to be a client of your practice in 2005. This year in January, I was interested in metal braces again and I called on January 28, 2025 to schedule an appointment. I spent a lot of time on the phone to provide you with my information such as telephone number, e-mail address, insurance information, regular dentist name, etc. I scheduled an appointment for February 25 at 9:00 AM and I was told that you will be emailing me new patient forms to fill before the appointment. The new patient forms were never emailed to me. I called on February 20 to ask for the forms. Joana answered the phone. I was almost horrified to learn that after waiting for almost a month for this appointment, I did not have a scheduled appointment. Joana’s explanation was that the girl who scheduled my appointment was not familiar with your policy and she scheduled me with the wrong person. Joana stated that she tried to call me many times. I asked which number she tried to call me. Joana tried to call me on the phone number I provided when I was a client of yours in 2005, a phone number from 20 years ago. I asked Joana, if she could not reach me by phone why she did not email me. I did provide email address back in January and this is how you were supposed the send me the new patient forms. Moreover, I learned that none of the information (email, insurance, etc) I provided and spent so much time on the phone back in January was saved or updated. I said to Joana “but I provided this information”. Joana’s response was “Do you want to try another orthodontist?”. I asked Joana how did they schedule an appointment if you did not have this information. Joana’s response was “we don’t need this information to schedule an appointment”. I rescheduled for March 6 at 11:00 AM. In conclusion, Joana’s comments were highly inappropriate. I felt very hurt by Joana’s comments. It seemed she just did not want to deal with me. After consulting with family, friends and coworkers, I went ahead and canceled the appointment in March. Two of my coworkers suggested other orthodontists who are more customer service oriented. It is amazing how you can have a great orthodontist, great reputation, excellent reviews and at the end Joana is advising the clients to try a different orthodontist.

They have a motivational system to encourage kids to care for their teeth and braces well and my son loves it.
