In 2024 I had to get my wisdom teeth pulled that I had put off for way too long, the couple places I had gone made me feel so low due to my anxiety. When I came here the Dr was so sweet and comforting and made me feel heard and answered all my concerns with no judgment. My experience was so great, recently had to have another extraction and wanted to come back here due to how amazing the team was with me. Even though my veins like to give them trouble we are alwasy laughing about something. I truly enjoy the team/Dr and hope they know what a difference they have made in my life. To be able to go in and feel confident with little to no anxiety, thank you so much

Experiencia negativa: They were absolutely horrible and unbelievably rude. Called to ask a few questions about a procedure they scheduled and about a $400 copay (that is completely unnecessary and they simply know that medicaid won't pay for it). I was told if I didn't like it I could go somewhere else. I asked to speak to a manger to talk about possible payment arrangements or anything I could do about the copay. I was talked completely down to, told if I didn't like their procedures or charges I could find somewhere else to go, I was told it wasn't their fault I was on Medicaid. When I asked for both of their names they then lied and gave me different names, and then they were laughing in the background. I have never been talked to so horribly!! This is the ABSOLUTELY worst staff I have spoken to and they should never be allowed to work with the public.

Experiencia negativa: I had an appointment at the beginning of July, I was told that I would get a referral to a dentist for basic cleaning as well as surgery scheduled by the actual dentist. I was in the very quickly and ushered out the door and told that I would get a phone call. I called back 3 months later because I never heard anything. I was told that my chart indicated that I already been called and consulted about the surgery. When I finally convinced the receptionist that I had never gotten a phone call. I was finally able to get scheduled for a day that I just realized. I was told over the phone that they don't perform the type of surgery on that day. So now I have to call back again to figure out what's going on. When I did schedule my surgery I was given no information about it, no prep information, no healing information. I have no idea how much time I need to take off work. Nothing. I have never gotten the referral I was promised. My chart was improperly filled out. So I totally recommend going to this facility if you don't actually need treatment and you are emotionally prepared to be told by reception that you're lying for the first 20 minutes of every phone call you have with them.

Experiencia negativa: Don't trust Google rating of almost 5 stars on this office, check other places like RateMDs, WebMd, Yelp, they are doing something with these rating here. My experience with this office was deeply frustrating and disappointing. After an initial consultation in July 2025, my care has now been delayed by over two months due to their inability to properly file electronic prior authorization requests for medical procedures. Instead of using standard digital systems, the office relied entirely on paper submissions. These were repeatedly lost or never processed, which caused unnecessary delays and confusion. Only after the PAPER claims for my visit were finally processed did I learn that the provider was in-network for dental but out-of-network for medical. While I acknowledge that I could have caught this detail earlier, the burden of verifying network status should not fall solely on the patient, especially when the office lacks the ability to file prior authorizations correctly. Had they used proper electronic systems, this issue could have been avoided entirely. When I asked the office to transmit my imaging to the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, they ignored the electronic submission instructions provided by the receiving institution and instead handed me a flash drive. This is now delaying my further care AGAIN. I tried to address this with the office manager Jessie on 09/08/25, when she called me, instead of listening, she began shouting over the phone. She refused to assist, dismissed my concerns, and made no effort to listen or resolve the issue. This office demonstrated a lack of professionalism, poor communication, and outdated administrative practices that directly interfered with timely treatment. I strongly recommend seeking care from a provider equipped to handle modern healthcare coordination.

Experiencia fantástica: I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Schiro and his team. From the moment I walked in, the staff (shout out to Jennifer!!) was warm, welcoming, and truly went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. The surgeon explained everything clearly, made sure I was at ease, and the entire procedure was quick, painless, and handled with such care. They provided excellent post procedure instructions! I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience-truly the best! I highly recommend this office!!

Experiencia negativa: Very rude and no bedside manner's. Dr. made me feel like I was was some bum off the street's. I was told up front that they accepted my insurance. Well after all the x-rays and a very short consult with the dentist. I was told that I needed sedation money up front and that my X-rays might not be covered. Now Im going to be out money and nothing done for me.

Experiencia negativa: Was a “good” service to my mouth but as soon as I went in for my check-up appointment 03/17 @1:00 I was rudely told that due to my “plastic water bottle” “I needed to take it to the car”. (Can’t drink out of straws due to my tooth being extracted) I then went out the front door and dumped the whole water bottle out and proceeded to put the empty plastic bottle inside of my purse. The doctor then goes on to say how BPA plastics can go past my brain and create medical problems, and that recycling them actually never gets rid of them. Sorry to say it like this, but never would I ever go there again due to the fact of the doctor was way too comfortable talking to me like I was his child. The nurse was nice enough to say “ He just told all of us staff about this today” That’s cool. I am not your staff nor will I ever be your patient again. I felt humiliated and completely angered by this entire situation over a “plastic water bottle”. Would recommend if you want good work done, but just make sure you don’t take anything in there that the doctor doesn’t like himself. Doctor needs to get a grip honestly

Experiencia fantástica: Went in and got two teeth pulled a couplenof weeks ago (wisdom teeth) I didn't have any pain after the extractions at all. I don't know if it was because of how good the dentist was or was just luck. He did an amazing job. Nice staff as well!

While the doctor was knowledgeable and my nurse was incredibly helpful, the front office and billing department are completely disorganized. I was charged for something I did not consent to, billed for a deductible I don’t have, and any attempt to resolve these issues has been met with frustration and annoyance on their end. Dealing with them has been a nightmare, and unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place to anyone.

The entire staff went above and beyond to get my daughter in last minute for an emergency surgery on her wisdom teeth. We are from out of town, and the care and compassion they showed was truly incredible. The procedure was handled flawlessly, and to top it off, they even called us at 9:30 at night to check on her and make sure she was doing okay. Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous care—thank you so much for everything! Highly recommend!

Experiencia negativa: I didn’t even make it through the consultation before realizing this was not the right doctor for me. Dr Schiro was extremely rude and unhelpful. I’ve worked in the medical field with surgeons for many years and I know some can be arrogant and egotistical but this guy takes the cake! The office staff seemed polite enough but were very unhelpful. Nobody seemed to be able to figure out whether they even accepted my insurance. My whole experience with them was terrible overall.

Experiencia negativa: I’m really surprised by all of the nice reviews on here as I had a very different experience. I was referred here by my dentist for my wisdom tooth removal and right off the bat the woman on the phone was super dismissive and made me feel like I was stupid for better lack of words for even calling them. Telling me that my dental location doesn’t refer to them while I had the referral slip in my hand from the same day. Along with her questioning me, telling me she’s never heard of my insurance as I was giving her all of the correct information for it. Anyway, after a long unnecessarily rude phone call I finally got my appointment set up. Nothing crazy for the consultation, Dr. Schiro wasn’t super friendly but I figured whatever, maybe he’s just a very serious doctor which Isn’t a bad thing. My actual surgery was 2 weeks later and everything went smoothly, it was very quick and coming from someone who hadn’t been put under before I was super anxious but before I knew it he had the IV in and I was out. Now post surgery is where i’m very uncomfortable with Dr. Schiro’s practice. I have been experiencing severe pain 2 1/2 weeks post surgery so I called to come in to make sure nothing was wrong, no infections or anything and of course had questions as to what it was I was feeling. Dr. Schiro looked at my mouth for 2 seconds, said everything was fine and I proceeded to tell him that I feel something where the tooth was extracted and asked what it was and he with a nasty tone quickly came back with “well i’m not sure what you mean by feel something” He then grabbed the same mirror that was used earlier that he had put on the unsanitary counter behind me and quickly felt around my mouth and then abruptly stopped and said “nope, everything looks fine, see you next week” and tossed (literally tossed) the mirror on the counter and stormed out. I had my partner in the room with me and we both looked at each other in shock like what just happened… The nurse in the room didn’t seem even slightly fazed but I’ve never felt so dismissed and have never seen that behavior from a medical professional before. Safe to say I will not see him next week! It’s very disheartening and makes me uncomfortable knowing he probably treats many other patients like this yet he’ll still be just fine and have zero repercussions. If you have a choice please don’t go here and see Dr. William Schiro for your oral surgical needs. I’m left with pain that I have to now take elsewhere to get resolved instead of by the “Doctor” who did the procedure. This is my first review i’ve ever seriously felt the need to leave because it was just not okay at all and I hope it can stop someone from having to deal with Dr. Schiro and his practice.

Experiencia fantástica: I went in for oral surgery on a large tooth extraction, including six teeth, and the procedure went smoothly, and I endured no pain following. It's was a super simple and easy procedure! I was sedated and woke up feeling better than I have in a decade. The staff was helpful, and the surgeon was very professional. Experiencia fantástica: As I was driving my young daughter to have her third dental procedure under general anesthesia, (second time at this office), I thought to myself how awful it was that this had become so common for her, it was now "not a big deal". But then also how very grateful I am for this office that it has in fact been, "not been a big deal"! The staff and doctor here always spoke to my daughter directly. Since the appointments were for her, they made them about her. They made sure she understood why she was there and what they planned to do. They joked with her and made each appointment pleasant. They made the procedures as painless as possible. They got her in early so she didn't have to fast during the day for very long. The scheduling and finance side of things also went smoothly but as a mom, my priority was my daughter's experience and I couldn't have asked for a better one.

Experiencia negativa: Dr. William A. Schiro DDS walked away from me as I was mid-sentence with a concern about after-care, completely ignoring the fact that I was asking a question, much less speaking. I got up, chased him down, and he talked over and interrupted me multiple times as I asked my single question. The man will not let you speak, which might be something to keep in mind before letting him near your mouth.

He's earned his right to be a tell it like it is Doctor. Sorry if your feelings were hurt. I've been to both of his locations...St. Johns and Lansing . I've been having trouble in the left upper area of mouth for years. Nobody I went to knew what was wrong. When my dentist finally found the fracture of no. 12 tooth. It had to be cut out. The place they referred me to, I would have wanted MONTHS to see them . That's when I found Dr. SCHIRO and I can tell you he's s been fixing the problems. Today I had a procedure that another Dr.botched doing a old root canal .this may have been the problem .we will see. DR. Schiro removed what he thinks is the problem . He never charged me a penny. So teeth maintainence and repair is costly! But please don't take it out on Dr. Schiro. He has put in enough training..studying schooling to be charging that much to give the best to his patients. I love him for all he's done for me and if everything goes OK. I'm planning a tooth implant with him hopefully in the near future. Thank you Dr. SCHIRO AND STAFF. YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME ! They said they will do that later and now they need my credit card... You accept me with my insurance card for the visit without mentioning I will need to pay full price with my credit card ? I will change this review if they will submit claim to my insurance, but this is not acceptable

Experiencia fantástica: I highly recommend this place for dental surgery. Had my wisdom teeth removed a week ago. Basically painless. I didn't even have to take any pain medication. The staff were very kind and informative. I really appreciate them and the work they do.

Experiencia negativa: I was supposed to have my wisdom tooth surgery done here. I scheduled a few weeks ago and took time off work and my partner took 2.5 days off as well. I went in for my consultation on Monday. Dr. Schiro is a friendly and professional man. He seems to be very knowledgeable and made me feel more comfortable about the surgery. But after my consultation, I was told that my surgery would be $466.40 after insurance; I said okay. A few minutes after leaving, I was called and told it’d be $666.40 because they forgot to add something. That was a bit more than I had but I managed to come up with the additional $200. So I call today to let them know and to confirm the price. I think everything is all set and I’m stocking up on soft foods for my surgery tomorrow. Then, another call. Surgery was miscalculated again and it’s actually going to be $1250. So, I cancelled. It’s just the unprofessionalism for me by the billing party. All bills were expected to be paid tomorrow. So, imagine what my shock would’ve been tomorrow after my surgery when they told me, a recent college graduate who is not made of money yet, what the actual cost was. Even once I come up with the funds, I’ll look for somewhere else to do my surgery. I don’t trust that $1250 is the final price, so I don’t want to put money aside for that only to be told “sorry, it’s going to be $2400 with insurance.”

Experiencia fantástica: I'm usually terrified of the dentist, needles, or anyone messing around inside my mouth. But the experience wasn't bad at all. They got me in really quick with an appointment and everyone was super friendly and made me feel at ease. For having 2 wisdom teeth taken out it wasn't bad at all. I just went back today after I week to get my stitches out. Before I could even realize he was actually going to start taking them out he had both stitches out. I was thinking to myself there is no way he has them out already and with absolutely no pain. But sure enough he had them out in seconds. Definitely would recommend this place, especially to those who are scared of the dentist lol. Dr. Shiro also has a great sense of humor which is a huge added bonus.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. William Schiro has done a phenomenal job with my implant. The first appointment was when he removed the molar and added bone graft. The second appointment was when he added more bone graft and placed the implant. Each time, there was no pain, no bleeding, and very little swelling! This is the third implant he has done for me. I would highly recommend Dr. Schiro!

When I called today to confirm the time of my appointment, they informed me that no one actually checked my insurance and that they do not cover my insurance. Thank you for allowing me to be in pain for this long while I was under the impression that this place actually planned on helping me.

Experiencia negativa: We attempted to use this center to have our son's extra tooth pulled. We were instructed by our insurance company to ask the center to fill out a prior authorization form to cover anesthesia for the procedure. After initially saying they would do this, they called us back and said that they do not fill out these forms. They would not give a reason as to why they would not fill out the form, but said the doctor does not have to do it if he does not want to. They told us that it is just a lot of paperwork and insurance normally does not cover these types of things anyway. We cancelled our appointment and are seeking service at a different facility. Though I understand that it is unlikely our insurance would cover a anesthesia, I do not feel it is appropriate for them to refuse to send over paperwork. I was uncomfortable with their lack of willingness to work with insurance.

Experiencia negativa: I’d give negative stars if I could. I over paid for a procedure for my son by $1,000. They said it was to cover any issues with my insurance. I sent them the explanation of benefits, showing them that I over paid. Then, conveniently after months, the billing specialist quits, and they pass me off to someone who has no idea about my case. It’s been a month since then. I can’t get them to call me back, or answer my calls. $1,000 is a lot of money to my family. They aren’t keeping food out of my kids mouth, but it would sure be helpful with the bills. The fact that they can’t even talk to me is what upsets me the most.

Experiencia negativa: People tend to only leave reviews if they've had an excellent experience, or a very negative one. My review has nothing to do with the actual care, but their billing department and lack of ethics or morals. Due to their negligence, we overpaid out of pocket by $1,000. My husband is a medically retired service member, and the truth of the matter is we have terrible dental/vision insurance options, for which we pay quite a bit montly for. On top of that, things like wisdom teeth extraction copays are quite high. But what happened, is they billed us $2,000 out of our pocket, and it should have been $1,000. We got our EOB from our insurance and realized they got paid in full from them, and double charged us. This was in December of 2021. We have talked to them weekly for the last few months, and they just won't do anything about it. Nothing but excuses, and now that they have someone new in billing and she was "getting up to speed" on our case, now we hear nothing. Several voice mails for weeks, and they never call us back. I think it's time to get a lawyer involved.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr Shiro and his staff were very friendly. They let me know what was going to happen and when, as well as what to expect during and after the surgery plus the follow ups. I really recommend their office for any dental surgery needs. They were also on schedule or even ahead of schedule as I had appointments as I showed up early and they still got me in before my appointment time. Was really nice to know that they cared.

Very thorough with explanations and making sure that you fully understand what’s happening. Can’t say I’ve had that with many doctors. Took extra care making sure I had a home plan afterwards. Friendly staff, amazing kindness. Would recommend to anyone.

Experiencia fantástica: I was so nervous about having my tooth pulled. Everybody in this office went out of their way to make me comfort. If I need and more oral surgery it will be done by Dr Shiro. He is wonderful.

Experiencia negativa: I had a dislocated jaw and my medical doctor referred me to this office. It took 2 weeks for me to get an appointment. I had to call and make it since no one was calling me from the office. Once in the room with the doctor I was told they had none of my info for my referral and he had no idea why he was seeing me. He was rude and treated me like it was my fault. Not sure why they didn't have my info since my doctor sent it over more than once. I felt like after that he kinda blew me off and told me just to put a hot compress on it for the next month and when I come back he will see how I'm doing. Not happy with this place at all, would not return and would not recommend. I cancelled my next appointment and rescheduled elsewhere with way better results.

Experiencia positiva: Went here to have my wisdom teeth taken out. From the start I was amazed at the lack of humility Shiro himself had. I tried asking questions and he would completely blow them off or act belittling to me because I didn’t know the answer. However, the surgery went great and was not in a ton of pain the days following. However I began experiencing an extreme throat pain as a result of taking the prescriptions he gave me. When I went back the following week to have my stitches taken out, I tried asking him about the issue. He completely blew me off and began is plead for me to leave a review and consider referring people I know to him. It is a doctors job to give answers when asked and to listen to the patient. Shiro has a lack of respect for his patients and an extreme lack of humility. It’s upsetting I have to deal with excruciating pain at the result of his arrogance. All of the other staff were very nice and helpful. Here is your review.

Experiencia negativa: My dear friend Dorothy first consulted with Dr Schiro on July 1, 2021. She was set up for surgical removal of a wisdom tooth. The surgery was canceled three times in eight months. The reason given was "something came up." She has chosen to find another oral surgeon.

Experiencia fantástica: Was referred to Dr. Schrio from my. Dentist for a wisdom tooth surgery consult. All four of my wisdom teeth were impacted. The office got me scheduled right away . Surgery went great and recovery was painless !

Experiencia fantástica: My 11 year old had oral surgery out at the St. Johns location and the staff and surgeon were great. Aftercare was explained well and the doctor calling that night to check in on him was very nice. Hopefully none of us need oral surgery again but if we do we will definitely come back.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Schiro and his team is very good at dental surgery. They know what they are doing. Highly recommended. However, staffs at the front desk might forget to schedule you properly, it's better to give them a call on the previous day to remind them that you are coming.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Shiro did a fantastic job removing a tooth for me. It needed pulled and my family dentist didn't feel comfortable doing it. He referred me here. I was in quite a bit of pain and Dr. Shiro squeezed me in the same day. He's quite handy with the needle and I hardly fealt a thing. Later in the day he called to see how I was doing. Left me feeling very cared for.

After discussing with him the course of my treatment we moved to extraction on the same day. Very courteous and I didn't feel rushed. This was my first extraction so I was a bit hesitant. Didn't feel a thing! He also had only good things to say about my referring Dentist which I appreciated. Never a good time at the dentist office but overall I feel very comfortable with getting treatment here.
