Experiencia fantástica: Concerned for his well being from the beginning. We've been to the office twice this week. They squeezed us in for a consult and extraction in the same week and they were so warm about it all. They have signs posted to ask for consent before taking photos which I respect and appreciate both as parent and provider myself. They had my child's name written on the towel that goes across his chest. He loved it and it made us feel welcome. The dental assistants seemed to enjoy their work environment and they worked well as a team. They were well informed with their reports to one another. They changed the tv at least 3x per my baby's request and remained patient and kind. The dentist was also well informed and made me feel the same. He told me to take photos of the xrays and to call back if I had any questions. The office was extremely clean, front desk ladies were so professional and personable. They had balloons, stickers and books for him at the end of the visit. This was all day one. Today, whew, was extraction day. My child is 3. They were superb again. The ladies that helped us were genuinely concerned about his well being and experience at the dentist. We first opted not to remove it today due to his reaction and to preserve his experience with going to the dentist. However, through team work, another provider came and completed the extraction. I believe both providers were concerned about his well being but I'm glad the tooth was removed today. They checked on us as we waited to check out. We left with a new toy plushy, a fist full of balloons and stickers. I also requested stickers for myself lolz. It was quite an experience to know that a regular day at school on Monday would mean extracting a tooth by Friday but this office was absolutely amazing through it all. I also scheduled my other two children for their annual appointments after the positive experience. I cannot say enough good about this office and the wonderful people that work there.

We are forever grateful for your knowledge, your patience and your sincere dedication for the health of your patients. Again, thank you so much! Dr and all of his staff of very sweet! The place is ALWAYS clean and both of my kids enjoy the visits. We especially love that they offer a free book after their checkups!

Experiencia negativa: There is this particular assistant, I won't call out her name, for a couple of times she's been rude to me and my boys. Instead of encouraging my boys to brush their teeth properly, she criticized them and put them down. She said it so loud that everyone there could hear her criticizing them. I will not go there again. I prefer a more friendly staff members that enjoy working with children.

Experiencia negativa: First, the front staff is friendly, helpful, and welcoming- they’re the reason this review isn’t at zero stars. Unfortunately, when it came time for dental work to be done, beyond the front desk was a different experience. I worked as a dental assistant for four years, so while I’m no dentist, I do notice little things happening behind the scenes that others might not. What I noticed here raised some red flags—particularly around the heavy push for the hall crown method. For those unfamiliar, the hall crown is a way to crown a baby tooth that has a cavity with no drilling and no numbing shots. In theory, sounds great. But in practice, I felt like the office pushed this method more for convenience than for my child’s benefit. It requires far less work from the dentist than a filling and, from what I saw, was presented as the only realistic option after they made a simple filling seem impossible. -We came in for what should have been a routine filling. -They numbed my child slowly and uncomfortably, with no friendly or comforting dialogue to help talk my child through it- honestly the opposite of what a pediatric dentist should be aiming for. -When my child was finally almost all the way numb but understandably anxious, the dentist told us they couldn’t continue and suggested coming back another day. -Suddenly, the hall crown became the hero option-no shots, no stress!-and the whole tone shifted to “this is what most parents end up choosing anyway”. When I asked if they could at least try the filling since we were already this far in, the dentist became defensive and condescending. But the moment I asked about doing the crown, he was all smiles and charm. I get it. Less work, same money, happier dentist. I can see how parents get talked into it. But I left feeling manipulated, with a child who was in pain and anxious about the dentist. Some families might love the hall crown method. I just wish it had been presented honestly, not as the result of a setup that left me feeling like my child’s comfort was secondary to convenience.

Experiencia negativa: The day before my son’s appointment, the dentist assured us his tooth could be filled instead of getting a crown. But at the visit—after my son was already numbed and on laughing gas—the dentist suddenly said they would pull the tooth instead. When I refused because he starts his new school year the next day, he said he wouldn’t fill the other tooth either and told me to “find a different dentist.” Completely unprofessional and dismissive—parents deserve honesty and respect, not last-minute surprises.

Experiencia negativa: Yesterday, I spoke directly with the pediatric dentist about my son's treatment for 2 teeth. The dentist said there was a possibility he might need a baby crown for one tooth, but after I explained that I didn't want that, he told me it would most likely be possible to be left the tooth alone instead and that a crown wouldn't be necessary. But the another tooth need the filling. I repeated to him that it's going to be just the filling and no crown. The dentist confirmed. Today, when I brought my son in for the scheduled filling, the dental assistants said it's going to be extraction and filling, so I explained to her. She said she will let the dentist know. RDH had already numbed his mouth and given him laughing gas before the dentist came in. Only then did the dentist tell me that they were going to pull the tooth. I told him I did not want the tooth pulled the day before my son's first day of school and he didn't mention about the extraction in our conversation yesterday. So I ask if he could fill on another tooth since my son was already medicated. The dentist then said he would not be able to fill the second tooth we had discussed and told me to "find a different dentist and get a second opinion." I left feeling upset and frustrated by the lack of communication, the abrupt change in treatment after my son was already numbed, and the way my concerns were dismissed. Parents deserve honesty, respect, and clear information about their child's dental care.

Experiencia negativa: Really terrible bedside manner with my 6 year old. Assistant was irritable and complained about being hungry the whole time. Assistant never explained what was going on to my son. We complained after the visit. Doctor called and said we were overreacting. Backed his assistant who apparently was a dentist in Eastern Europe. Who cares? Decided to go to a pediatric dentist in Fresno with excellent experience. Skip Visalia Pediatric Dentistry. On a positive note, the ladies in the front of the house were excellent.

Experiencia fantástica: Powell Pediatric Dentistry has been a wonderful choice for us since my children were babies, starting with potential tongue and lip ties. Now that they're a little bit older, we visit for their semi-annual cleanings. The staff is always super friendly and informative, and we love that they offer fun prizes like books and balloons after visits. Highly recommend!

Experiencia fantástica: My children have been coming to Dr Rawson for a couple of years now. We've always been extremely happy with the care they receive from the Dr and all the assistants.

Experiencia negativa: We just had the worst experience with my 5 year old. She was been going to Dr Taylor Rawson for years and at first we liked the experiences. The last two times Dr Rawson only comes in the room to put the crown or filling on my child’s tooth and rushes out. He no longer administers my child’s anesthesia and today when my child who is 5 needs a break the hygienist said after 3 mins that she was calling it and we’d have to come back. At this point my child had already had been given anesthesia on half of her mouth. I said no she just needs a break so I asked to speak to the dentist. He came in without having any knowledge of the situation saying that most kids don’t complain, don’t shed a tear or cry when given anesthesia so if my kid needed a break that was concerning and he agreed with the hygienist saying we were stopping without even discussing it with me. Not only was he trying to be condescending, but he was lying because every time we’re there, there are always kids screaming bloody murder for a simple cleaning outside in front of everyone. I told him my child is 5 and just got a needle stuck in her mouth for about 3 mins so she should be able to have a break. He tried to back track and say he’d do it himself if we wanted but at that point, it was such a bad experience and why would I trust his word if he doesn’t ven have the time to discuss it with me who is the parent. There are plenty dentist that will give your child the time they deserve and that you pay for. Never again going back. They are just trying to rush you out and bill your insurance. So disappointed!!!!!

Experiencia negativa: First impressions are huge to any business. Especially when it’s coming from the front desk. The receptionists. This one receptionist was extremely rude and unprofessional. Huffing and puffing, eyes rolling. All because I asked many questions about what procedures where done and price break down for my son’s visit. I spoke to the kind dentist and he reassured me that she would be given more training. I hope so because I will not put up with a rude receptionist especially when their job is primarily customer service. Unfortunately, a receptionist is a direct reflection of your business and if they aren’t doing their jobs in a kind and professional manner then you will lose customers. By the way, This isn’t the first complaint of said receptionist. I refrained from using her name but if you want it. Just ask. Update 5/16/2023 So I just received a confirmation about the lack of professionalism fostered at this dentistry, In the form of a letter. Instead of correcting the issue, they rather cut dentist and patient relationship. I’m glad to take my money and family elsewhere . No one should have to deal with the belittling attitude from Visalia Pediatric Dentistry employees.

Experiencia fantástica: My two year old did great, they helped him feel at ease. Some discomfort but no tears. After, he was so proud of his book and balloon! Updating my review - both my kids had checkups this week. I told my 6 year old he would go again in 6 months, and he said "I can't wait for this exciting thing!!"

My son broke his tooth Friday night, and they were only able to squeeze us in Monday for an appointment to see the damage, after examining the tooth Dr. Rawson decided to place a crown to hopefully save the tooth for the next few years. He was able to do this all in one appointment for us which I was not expecting. He truly goes above and beyond and makes each patient feel special.

I tried two other dentist office before hearing about Visalia Pediatric Dentist, and they are by far the best dentist I’ve seen since I moved to California. This dentist actually cares about his patients. I trust him with the care of all four of my kids. I drive 45 minutes away from where I live because he gives such quality care!

It’s clearly important to them to ensure dental work is not scary or traumatic and they explain everything really well to the parent and the child. (Wish it wasn’t just a pediatric dentist, or I’d be a patient too ☺️)

Experiencia positiva: They are great for the most part. But they are a very busy office so it can be hard and sometimes impossible to get through on the phone let alone get a call back. But my kids love it here and the everyone is very friendly. It's clean and pretty up to date on equipment and making it the most enjoyable experience it can be for your little ones.

Today I took my 7 year old for sealant and she was extra fidgety, the Dentist was amazing with her, explaining step by step what he was doing. Experiencia fantástica: Best pediatric dentistry in Tulare County. The first time I took my toddler son, he was very scared and did not want his Dentist to touch his mouth. As soon as his dentist noticed that, instead of trying to force him to open his mouth, he decided to just have a conversation with my son. Afterwards, the dentist explained to me that he does not like to force toddlers because then they become terrified of seeing a dentist and that my son will be ready when he is ready. Second time visit, my son was very docile, he let the dentist do x-rays and his first official cleaning w/o any hesitation! I am happy with the service Powell dentistry provides. :)

Experiencia fantástica: Maybe it's because of COVID, but we appreciate the empty waiting room and service was extremely fast! You complete the paperwork online prior to child's appt; which makes it efficient. We were in and out in about 40 mins! Facility was clean and staff were friendly. The hygienist was patient and handled my 3 y/o with ease. She explained every step, tool and move she was to make. Dr. Rawson was cheerful and you can tell he had a smile even with a mask on. Each chair had a tv and they asked the child what he wanted to watch on Netflix. We were referred by our pediatrician and glad to be coming back!!!

The staff was so kind and reassuring with us (I think I was more nervous than she was) and overall just very friendly and kind. The dentist and hygienist were both really thorough in explaining our treatment options, and didn't make me feel bad about the amount of work we will need done. I highly recommend taking your children to Powell Pediatric Dentistry!

Experiencia fantástica: Absolutely amazing experience! My daughter had her first visit yesterday and she couldn’t stop talking about how much she loved it here and how her dentist was so nice! She was previously seen at Smileland and was always told she had great teeth. Then once my insurance changed to private we were told she had cavities and that she needed all of this work as well as the dentist lying to our faces and falsifying her last chart notes. But now that we found Powell Dentristry we are beyond pleased. Thank you again to all of the staff.

Experiencia fantástica: My daughter fell and loosened one of her front teeth over the weekend, and Powell Dentistry let her come in first thing Monday morning to be checked out. The doctor was so kind and caring with her, she wasn't afraid at all. It was a great experience overall.

However, because of certain practices put in place by Powell Pediatric Dentistry, our visit went really well. Here are some of their practices that I really appreciated: 1) QUICK and easy flow from check in to being called in to the exam room. 2) Quick and immediate attention and service from the hygienists with great explanations of what was going on (both to us as parents and to our children). 3) Speedy and thorough examination with more easy to understand and follow explanations of treatment. Such a great experience!!!

Experiencia fantástica: My daughter chipped her baby tooth when she was 3 1/2 and at 6 she developed an abscess. We were transferring care to Powell Pediatric Dentistry and they were able to schedule her the very next day. Extraction was the route we were taking and again, they were able to schedule her the very next day. Dr. Rawson and his staff were absolutely incredible. They explained everything to me and also included my daughter in the discussion which calmed her nerves. The procedure went great. I’ve made an appointment for my son also and will recommend Powell Pediatric to anyone with children. Oh, and as a nurse, I understand the important of social distancing, and the staff at Powell Pediatric did an awesome job protecting everyone there from wearing masks, hand sanitizer and markings for seating. Best pediatric experience thus far.

Experiencia negativa: My 2 little boys were refused care today by Dr. K because I am a physician and work at hospital and have COVID patients under my care. What the staff told me seems like they do not want to any medical professional's children if they are involved in caring for COVID patients. This is totally unacceptable. I told them that I wear all the PPE including N95, gown, mask, eyewear and head cover when I see any patients but they still declined care. Should medical professionals refuse care to COVID patients so their families can get care from other professionals??? Shame on Powell pediatric dentistry.

Experiencia fantástica: Wow! Okay my son is extremely afraid of the dentist. We decided to switch and for some reason he was completely comfortable here. Dr. K was amazing and his staff was as well. The nurses and everyone were very welcoming. They were gentle and kind. Also their machines were so quiet. I didn't even know they were on. Most people detest the noises at the dentist, especially my son, and he didn't seem to mind them here. They also saw my youngest, who is under two, and he was also comfortable and calm. I've already referred my friends here. I also felt heard and believed. My oldest has genetically bad teeth. Although he takes good care of them and we don't even keep juice or soda in the house, I've had a dental clinic before not believe me when they asked about sugar drinks. That other place actually told me, "well let's ask your son and let him answer himself." Like uhhh okay. Of course he answered truthfully and said the same thing I did. It's so nice not to be treated like I'm lying when we speak to the nurse or doctor. Anyway make an appointment and stop looking for a dentist already, you've found it.

They were all very friendly and patient with her while they took x-rays. My daughter felt very at ease with them and everything ran smoothly because of this. I highly recommend.

Experiencia positiva: I really love how fast they are and all three kids love going there. The only thing is that we can't schedule all of the appts at once. For example, my daughter had to get two fillings done. We couldn't make both appts. at the same time. We had to schedule one, then I couldn't schedule the other one until the first one was complete.

My daughter was so nervous about going to the dentist but they made it so comfortable and fun for her that she now wants to come in here everyday. The staff is friendly and the Dr. explains things in a way so I understand the treatments needed or ways to prevent it. Love it here.

Experiencia fantástica: As a new resident of Visalia my first visit to Powell Pediatric was pleasant and painless. I took my 4 children ranging in ages from 10 to 3 and they were able to take all of them back at once and work quickly and efficiently. My kids loved their experience and upon leaving were already asking when they could come back.

Experiencia fantástica: My husband and I took our children (Age 2 & 5) to their dental appointments at Powel Pediatric the first week the office re-opened after being closed due to the virus. I was very worried about taking the kids out but my 5 year old needed to be seen. I was pleasantly surprised with all the cautionary measures staff had taken. Everything from screening individuals at the door, to practicing social distancing in the waiting room at in the dental area. I completely felt relaxed knowing they were taking safety seriously. The staff were all super friendly, inviting and informative as usual. My kids and I loved the Dentist, Dr. K. He did a great job. 100% recommend this place.

Experiencia fantástica: I love this place! The staff is amazing, polite, kind and very sweet with my children. The facility is clean and they run on time. My son gets pretty nervous in new places but after his first appointment , he loves going to the dentist. My daughter is 2 and she enjoys her visits as well. There are screens over each dental chair and they get a balloon and book after each visit. Honestly , a wonderful dental office.

From fun and kind customer service, to well informed dentists regarding childcare and dentistry combined, to insurance coverage, I love this place. My child recently developed cavities and Dr. Bhakta explained how gradually they introduce tools and the procedure through a couple of appointments. I am thankful this office takes pride in giving enjoyable memories of dentist visits for children without skipping on education & reliable service. I refer this office 100%!

Experiencia fantástica: Everyone in the office were polite and welcoming . There are TVs on top of the dentist chairs where kids can choose a movie from Disney+ and are given headphones. I took my daughter in for a new patient appointment, we previously were going to Fresno to California Kidd’s which was also a really good dentist but didn’t want to make the hour drive anymore, so we decided to go with Powell and I’m glad i choose Powell over others. They took xrays and brushed my daughters teeth. Dr Taylor Rawson was really nice and made my daughter feel comfortable she was very happy at the dentist and was given a free book and ballon. Overall I recommend this dentist office.

Experiencia fantástica: Professional, clean, and considerate. Ideal dentist for parents wishing to avoid treating their children with general anesthesia, and if that is an option, this dentist performs anesthesia in a hospital versus the office, which is tremendously safer.

Experiencia fantástica: Just took my kids (3&4) yesterday and it was the BEST experience I’ve ever had in I doctors office yet. The staff was kind, child friendly and my kids, who had never been to a dentist, were comfortable and did great! Both kids got to choose a fun balloon on a stick and a book to take home each!

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Rawson was amazing! We are parents to a newborn and found out our daughter had a tongue tie. We were referred by our doctor to Powell and from the moment we called for an appointment we were treated great. Office staff is nice and attentive. Dr. Rawson was kind and informative, for first time parents he made us feel at ease. After her procedure, Dr. Rawson made sure to outreach to us directly to see how she was doing and make sure her recovery went well. My insurance did not have Dr. Rawson In-network so we did self pay and I would do it again because of the care we received. Thank you Powell Pediatric Dentistry.

Experiencia fantástica: My son is 2 weeks old and had a lip tie my pediatrician refred me to Dr. Powell. They got me in the next day and treated my son in office. They were so nice and accommodating. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I will be switching my daughter here as well.
