Experiencia negativa: I’ve been coming to Dental Design for years without any issues, but my most recent visit left me extremely upset. During my cleaning, I was casually asked what flavor fluoride I wanted—at no point was I told this would be an extra charge or that it might not be covered by my insurance. I was surprised to see a $55 charge added to my bill and was basically told it was my responsibility to know my insurance coverage. While I understand that coverage varies, if the staff are aware that fluoride typically isn’t covered, they absolutely should inform patients before performing the treatment. Instead, it felt sneaky and misleading. I left feeling taken advantage of, and that’s not something I expected from a place I’ve trusted for so long. Please make it clear to patients when something costs extra so no one else has to deal with this kind of surprise.

This appointment was for my sister, for a tooth extraction, who needed special accommodations due to her disability. This was no problem for them. The staff made my sister and I feel comfortable. The Dentist went over all my sister's medicine, and determined he could extract the tooth on the same day. All went smoothly, and my sister had almost zero pain, and no problems and it has been a couple weeks ago. Thank you Dental Design!

However I want to give a special thanks to Lynn, she is not only professional and thorough; but she also was so cool and understanding. She wasn’t mean or rude about my dental condition like other providers I saw in the past. The service and care Lynn provides is the reason I would highly recommend this place. It’s been about six months and my gums and other issues I’ve dealt with are improving and I’m truly grateful for finding this place. Don’t waste your time with any other provider, go to Dental Design and get the care and treatment you deserve.

Experiencia negativa: I went in for a routine cleaning covered by insurance, only to find out afterward that I owed an additional $150. No one informed me about this extra charge before the appointment or even during the visit—it was only mentioned as I was leaving. This feels dishonest and unprofessional. If I could rate lower, I would. How do they even look in the mirror every day?

Experiencia fantástica: I had a true dental emergency! I was in excruciating pain! I googled urgent dental care and Design Dental popped up. I was able to make an appointment right then online or I could have called. As soon as I scheduled the appointment, they began to follow up with me. When I arrived, it was obvious that I was in distress so they accommodated me as quickly as possible. The doctor was kind and did his best job in resolving my issue. After the procedure, I was queasy and lightheaded. They had me remain in the office while they helped me get that under control. The doctor and the entire staff were so kind and attentive. The cause of my pain was resolved. They told me that they would call to check on me the next day and true to their word, they did. What a great dental experience.

I say this in a good way, he knows what he’s doing and does it with such accuracy and precision from numbing you down to polishing your teeth. I would definitely come back to his clinic and have him as my dentist if given the chance. Props also on being able to squeeze me in same day with additional things needed to be done on my teeth. Experiencia fantástica: I was having excruciating pain in one of my teeth and they did not hesitate to fit me in the day of. I have very bad dental anxiety and the doctor made me feel very relaxed and made sure I was okay at all times. He was very honest about wanting to send me to a specialist due to his abilities, which I appreciated. For the time being, he did a procedure that gave some pain relief and explained everything thoroughly. If you need a dentist in Fort Wayne, I highly recommend Dental Design!

Experiencia negativa: Will never go here again. They ended up telling me I needed extra cleanings that were outside of the normal 2 check ups a year. Told me it was fully covered by insurance and then sent me a bill in the mail over a year later telling me my insurance only covers a portion. This isn't the first time they've over charged me for their services. I had a credit on my account that they refused to credit back to me. When I asked them to use my credit to pay for the difference, they told me it was already used. Financials never made sense. The bills never had an explanation of what I was being charged but rather the amount due. My partner also had to pay out of pocket when they no longer accepted delta dental. Both of us were screwed over financially for services that were covered by our insurance.

The statement doesn't even say what it's for! It's doesn't help that when I went there they told me the dentist is in network when he wasn't.

Experiencia negativa: I had no problems going here until they shut down and opened back up. I was scheduled for a routine clean & was told after my appointment was over that they no longer accepted my insurance, and they won’t be back in network until later this year. So basically I had to pay out of pocket for the entire appointment. To top it off, they then told me I still owed for my last two appointments which I already paid for and never received any bills or calls in the mail for. Walked out of there damn near crying bc I was so pissed. Very disappointed. If I would have known my insurance wasn’t accepted anymore, I wouldn’t have made the appointment. UPDATE: Gave them another chance due to them saying they are now back in network with my insurance & we’re going submit a claim for the money I paid out of pocket for what happened last time. I show up to my appointment, proceed to ASK this time that my insurance is still valid with them and after looking for some time they said it wouldn’t cover todays visit, on top of my claim being denied. They also want to charge me $300+ to remove some glue off my tooth from an old tooth gem when I found out other dentists do it for free during a cleaning. Waited all this time to be let down again. This cements my decision that I am not returning here.

Experiencia negativa: My experience has been horrible...I AM missing front teeth with one crown gold due to this clinic...This clinic pull my teeth and crowned one tooth with gold...One tooth was crowned by their dentist who later quit or was fired idk. For many months no dentist and now a new one who wants to pull all my top teeth including the one covered in gold that they charged me $1300 dollars. Partial broken lab would fix for $45 dollars they wanted to charge extra......Nightmare Clinic to me....Horrible!!!!!!!!!I want all my clinic records...Never to visit this place again...NEVER!!!!!!!!!!

Was almost charged $456 for a cleaning?! Called back after I called and let them know what my insurance told me to disregard my bill but it shouldn’t of taken all that

Experiencia negativa: *added the review 7/7 My husband came here for a normal dental visit to establish care and get a routine cleaning during the first appointment when doing the initial exam they did an oral cancer screening that is apparently not covered by our dental insurance and then was billed $86 even though he gave them our insurance prior to the exam. Fast forward a few weeks he went back for the cleaning and yet again they did fluoride treatment on his teeth after the cleaning acting as though it was covered by our insurance and yet again is stuck with a $77 bill!?!? We have our insurance and requested only the services covered within the scope of our insurance and BOTH times services outside of our insurance were preformed and acted like they were apart of the coverage until check out! This is beyond ridiculous, ask for consent prior to performing a task and you really need to be upfront with pricing and not perform things assuring the client it is covered by their insurance that you should have run prior to performing the task when it's not covered by insurance!! This practice is just out for money and checks the boxes. Our covered (free) initial visit and cleaning is now costing us almost $200.. *7/7 addition- we just received a random bill from Dental Design for $182.89 for an alleged visit at the end of June, my husband did not go back to this practice for any additional care after our first two encounters were so horrible. If this can not be resolved we will be reaching out to the Better Business Bureau. This is beyond ridiculous, DO NOT GO TO THIS PRACTICE!!

Experiencia negativa: The past 3 months I’ve been scheduled for a fill and for cleanings, and no one bothered to call and tell me that my insurance wasn’t accepted there anymore until beforehand, when they had to already cancel the appointments. I told them I had other insurance for dental that I could provide them with, and they still did not call me back to confirm they took it or could reschedule me. They also didn’t offer me the option to pay out of pocket. The lack of respect to reach out to customers is horrendous. I shouldn’t not be offered services because you changed providers, you should give me a choice! They also have not told customers that they changed the dentists within as well. I would not recommend this place to anyone, they will not respond to you in any form of a timely manner. So grateful to have been scheduled with a better dental company than Dental Design who accepts all my insurance and works with me immediately.

Experiencia negativa: Been going to them for two years now, suddenly not only do they not take my insurance anymore but they didn't bother to inform me either. I only found out because I needed to reschedule my appointment I'd made 6 months ago. The inconvenience is bad enough now that I suddenly need to find a new dentist but I also just can't stand the disrespect of not even bothering to reach out to inform me my insurance was no longer accepted.

Experiencia negativa: After going here for a couple years and having no issues, I was surprised to learn only after I called to make my partner an appointment that there weren’t any doctors and the appointment I had been given for my next cleaning was not found. Nobody called me to let me know that they deleted this appointment. So if I had not called myself, I would have shown up for no reason. I don’t recommend going here if you are looking for a long term reliable dentist. Disappointed that I will now have to get in elsewhere where there is a 6 month wait for new patients.

Experiencia fantástica: Despite being between finding a new permanent doctor right now, and trying to accommodate their patients at the same time, the staff is always lovely. Lori is my personal favorite since she has made me feel comfortable since coming to Dental Design. As of making this review, the temporary doctor they have in right now is lovely as well! He’s up front about concerns he had for me but delivered in a genuine and polite tone. I would recommend Dental Design of Fort Wayne to friends and family 100%!

Experiencia negativa: I made an appointment for my daughter who has Medicaid. Once I got to the office they said we're not taking any new patients with Medicaid even though they just made me an appointment the day before and told them I have Medicaid. The office intake told the ladie helping me that I was bumped because I had Medicaid so why wouldn't they call me to cancel the appointment before I got my daughter out of school and drive down here. Unsatisfied.

Experiencia fantástica: I went into Dental Design today for delivery of a bridge and while having experienced a couple delays in the procedure I was treated with the highest level of professionalism. The Dr. Personally handled this affair and assured me the “buck starts and stops with him” I would highly suggest seeking treatment at this facility as I aforementioned any and all experiences were made right and the bridge was a perfect match!!!

Experiencia negativa: Great place been here around a year didn't have to much of a problem. Other than staff taking a long time to call you back after you call them or waiting in the lobby for almost an hour than waiting another half hour I thought was a problem. But then scheduling me for work that wasn't nessessary, yeah get a second opinion. They also forget which teeth to fill so that's a clue it might be a scam. They schedule an appointment but when they send a text telling you to respond by a certain time if you don't they cancel your appointment and put someone else in your place than send you a text to show up to that appointment they just cancel. When you get there they refuse to work with you and take you back. So unprofessional and customer don't come first. One thing is when they screw up they don't take accountability they blame the customer. I don't recommend this place had way to many problems. Get a second opinion it pays to do so.

Experiencia negativa: Been going here about 2 years now. Every single appointment I’ve had did not begin on time. They are always at least 15 mins late, on one occasion I waited almost an hour past my appointment time before I was taken back. I do not feel that they are honest with their services and their pricing. I was paying hundreds of dollars out of pocket and then getting bills months later for additional charges. When I brought this up I found out that the things they were doing in my appointments were not actually covered by insurance because they were going beyond the preventative care that my insurance covered. This was not made clear to me and they took advantage of me by making me think I had no options, performing services that I didn’t understand and charging me exorbitant amounts of money. I was never given an option of only getting the services that would be covered by my insurance.

Experiencia positiva: The Dentist is nice & good at pulling teeth but that’s about it. They’ll wanna take a million pictures time after time and take 3 different appointments to do 1 root canal!!! 27 appointments to do 4 root canal’s & a partial!!!

I was numbed up for an hour, literally, before they worked on me and it seems they had to rush to get to cavities drilled - I was starting to get pain from drilling. I was scheduled for two more drilled but I went back to my old dentist, thank God, who said I needed nothing (insurance made me change). Not recommended.

Their time if valuable, yours is not! EDIT This was three weeks ago! Went back today to get a crown put on and had to reschedule after waiting over a half hour because they still had not called me back!!! HORRIBLE!!!

Experiencia negativa: WARNING! No Stars ,While having cleaning dental assistant used rusted tools. She removed my filling on purpose then said it was tarter.I knew what she had done I cruched on it, had a hole in the tooth then she Lied, the dentist came in said I was missing a filling I said it was there when I came in. I Then was asked to add extras to cleaning that I had told her 3 times No she went a head and started doing them I stopped her said what are you doing? I reminded her again I and said I wasn't paying for it.I ended up getting a very bad gum infection from them and had to see MD for it took 2 weeks of meds., I have reported them. They are charging for things that if you have Medicaid are covered it is a scam. Call your insurance before you go to know what is covered. What a nightmare never going back!

They were forgot coming and made me completely comfortable when normally I am a nervous wreck. I would recommend the Dentist Design to anyone that is nervous about going they will soothe the savage beast. They where a God send for me.

Tho I wasn't able to finance the work needed they still found a way to help me. I've always been very afraid of Dentist offices, however I will not need to keep looking, I've found what I've needed in a dental team and as long as they will have me I'm their patient.

The decision to go and be seen was a great decision because if I hadn't, I wouldn't have met Rachel at the front desk, nor Chelsea Schafer the General Dentist. The ladies behind the desk are very friendly and make you feel welcome upon entering and talk to you while waiting. Once you step on the other side of the door (big brown beautifully detailed), you are in great hands. Dr. Shafer staff is AWESOME! The staff prepare you for the doctor. They are cheerful and made me feel at ease when I felt I was being difficult. Once Dr. Shafer entered the room, she and her assistant explained what I would hear and what they were going to do. I tried to watch the television in front of me that was suppose to distract me but instead I listened to them talk which made me giggle while they worked. I was referred to Dental Design by a friend and I have yet to be disappointed. I have more work to be done, and Dental Design will be the place and Chelsea Shafer will be my dentist.

That in itself is a rarity these days. I'm looking forward to my next visit. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone.

Experiencia positiva: Have been going since 2019 to Dental Design.. The doctor that is no longer there said I needed a cap. I trusted him. I go to Dental Design every 6 months for cleaning and checkups. Two years later over the weekend, I lost my cap during their after-hours. Then, today, Monday, July 26, 2021 tried to get in to have it glued back on, and I was told the first available appointment was on August 10th. For a 5 minute glue-on! I later received a call back to come in today in the morning. The new floater dentist/not permanent was wonderful . He is top. I had so much frustration due to the above prior to him. Thank you.

Experiencia negativa: My daughter came here thinking she found a dentist to help her when in fact she found an inconsiderate dentist who had no compassion for their patients. I do not recommend this dentist they do not care for the individual. They do not fix their issues they make them worse then try to refer you elsewhere! No star rating!!! And then they say contact us and they do nothing please don’t use this dentist they don’t care about what they do at all. They say they care and they don’t fix what they screw up after 11 times trying then want to refer you somewhere instead of giving you a refund!!!! Still nothing!!

Experiencia fantástica: I dislike all dentist offices, call me scared. The staff at Dental Design make you feel comfortable, like family. I can relax a little while in their hands. Also loving the new latest technology they offer with the picture memory. Love them, no issues
