Today I completed a root canal from here and I would really recommend doctor Nguyen because she took excellent care of me. Every time I was beginning to hurt she hit with the numbing and we were all good to go and one thing I loved about them they are not about just cutting into your mouth to get a paycheck. Experiencia negativa: First of all, ALWAYS get a second opinion. Secondly, be skeptical when you try a new dentist and they tell you that you have 8 cavities. I had not been to the dentist in a few years since my OG dentist is a far drive. I tried out Alabama Family Dental and was told I had 8 cavities. I naively got 4 of them filled thinking I could trust a medical professional. I ended up telling my orthodontist about my “8 cavities” and he told me to immediately call my OG dentist. I took my X-rays that Alabama family dental took to my old dentist, and he said that I didn’t need any of the fillings I had received/ been told I needed. On top of feeling completely scammed out of hundreds of dollars, the fillings that I did receive were painful for 6-8 months. Looking back I should have known that 8 cavities was ridiculous. Long story short don’t trust this place. I recommend Dr. Harrell in Fairhope for honest and conservative care.

Experiencia fantástica: I researched a lot of dental offices. This is the only one that actually listed to me and didn’t try gouging me for money and procedures. Every other office either wanted to tell me what they wanted and it was the only option for them. Thousands of dollars and unnecessary procedures. This office has never asked or pressured me into more procedures to milk my insurance or my wallet. They did the work we agreed to and in my best interest and even adjusted the billing lower when some work initially thought wasn’t needed. They have every opportunity to press for more work and money as most do milking your insurance and they are honest and straightforward with what is necessary and what is purely an option. It’s a rare trait in this world and field.

Experiencia negativa: This please did my service but didn’t complete the services because I was out of town for work so I called and canceled my appointment then I start getting bills on the mail and I called and explain I will rebook when I come back. Let me add I paid for the services I had the balance below is for services I didn’t have yet the last bill I got I call and advise I no longer needed services that was last year I got a bill 03/19/25 telling me I’m going to be sent to collections for services I didn’t have !!! I called to speak with someone and spoke with a lady by the name of Rebecca rude poor customer service I called back the next day and she has the same tone same energy I asked why I’m being sent to collections for a service I didn’t have you can’t do that she said all I had to do was call and tell them I no longer needed the services but I did that she said it’s not documented but it’s not my fault they didn’t note the account and you can’t send anyone to collections for services they didn’t receive!!!

He and the whole staff work hard to make sure I'm comfortable and I will always be grateful! I couldn't recommend him and this wonderful office enough. I drive a good 45 minutes to get to them and it's worth it!

He came in made me laugh even while I was in pain. He conferred with me about what I wanted to do. The actual extraction experience lasted maybe 10 minutes at most. I didn't feel a thing and I'm day 7 everything is healing nicely. Very minimum pain. This will be my permanent dental office

Experiencia positiva: Used Dr. Whatley for years. Absolutely loved him. He is the best dentist I've ever by far. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because of the way I was treated by the Office Manager when I missed an appointment because my 11 year old nephew passed away just hours before my appointment. She banned me from even calling to reschedule and refused to call me back to let me explain. When I tried to explain to the girls at the front desk when I called to speak to her, they seemed very sincerely sorry but insisted the office manager was the only person who could help me and I couldn't make an appointment until she said it was OK. I waited months, called back and still got the same response. I have never been treated with such disrespect in all my life. Before this happened, I would have recommended Alabama Family Dental hands down to anyone who asked... but now, seeing how cold hearted and cruel this woman is, I refuse. I sincerely pray that this woman never loses a family member on a day she has an appointment... if she does, I hope they show her the compassion she didn't treat me...

I'm recovering faster from 8 teeth being removed by Dr. Whatley than 2 teeth from a dentist near me. That's why I drive 75 miles to see Dr. Whatley. The staff are very kind and attentive. Out of fear and embarrassment, I had been putting off an appointment for prosthetics screening for a long time and it was extremely hard for me to walk through those doors. This was my first interaction with this office so I didn’t know what to expect (which only made the anxiety worse). Thankfully, the entire staff made me feel extremely comfortable and were very attentive and never once dismissive or judgmental. You can tell a difference in people who have a passion for what they do and people who do a job just for the paycheck. The staff here truly care about their profession and care even more for their patients. Whether it’s a visit for a basic cleaning or a brand new grill, I highly recommend Alabama Family Dental.

Experiencia fantástica: As a young girl (7 years old to be exact), I had a traumatizing experience with a local dentist by the name of Dr Gilliard, which caused me to hate going to the dentist til this day. After several years of not going to the dentist, my mom found Dr Black (now deceased) to help me with my dental needs. He was great! After he passed, I saw other dentist but it was still difficult allowing anyone to probe around with my teeth. Then I stumbled upon one of the most all around dentist I’ve come in contact with - my FAV, Dr Whatley of @alabama.family.dental. When I tell you this man is funny, God-fearing, attentive and just great at what he does, I mean just that! (Example: Most dentist numbed you to their specifications according to what they feel your pain tolerance is, regardless if you can still feel the pain. Well, NOT Dr Whatley! He makes sure that you are where you need to be with your pain level without causing you harm). For that, as well as the forementioned, I am grateful!! He and his staff are top tier! Anyone who knows me knows I love to smile so having a dentist who is able to keep the smile on my face by providing great service along with just being him, is alright with me! Experiencia fantástica: Alabama Family Dental is a really great dental office. Every time I come I am always greeted by the amazing office staff. They are warm and welcoming. The hygienist are very kind and helpful during any procedures. The dentists take care of their patients and make sure they are knowledgeable about all steps during procedures to ensure the perfect smile. I’ve encountered fabulous hygienist including Racheal and Tina.
