Experiencia fantástica: Thankful for the help, one day one stop shop!

Experiencia negativa: I called ahead of time to make sure they took my insurance because I knew I was going to have a procedure. They confirmed that "my insurance works." I did not suspect that what they actually meant was that they took my insurance out-of-network. And when I was presented with the itemized bill while on the dentist chair, never did they tell me this was out-of-network and I did not know to ask. I got stuck with a large bill when I easily could have found an in-network dentist. Their responses were unclear and misleading. In addition, their prices are way above the allowable amounts from the insurance company. I felt like they were taking advantage of someone who did not know to specifically ask whether they were in-network or out-of-network with my insurance instead of just being clear. Why would I call ahead to check on insurance? As far as I know, the work they did was ok, but I am livid at having to pay an exorbitant amount of money because they mislead me.

When I woke up last week with the left side of my lip, cheek, and eye swollen, I was worried. But your calm manner and thorough examination alleviated my fears. And calling me the next day to see if the swelling had gone down was 'above and beyond'! You indicated your office would contact my home dentist in Florida to share information pertaining to the dental issues and care you provided. It has been done already! Another sign of your commitment to your work, your patients, and my future health. You are truly an exceptional professional Dr. Schwartz! Thank you so much for everything!

Experiencia negativa: WATCH OUT: surprise bills! After establishing care and getting my teeth cleaned, I learned I needed to have a few cavities filled. When I scheduled the appointment, the front desk staff showed me an itemized bill for the fillings, including what my insurance would cover and what would be out-of-pocket costs. This was towards the end of 2025. The out-of-pocket costs were just over the remaining amount in my FSA, so I scheduled the procedure for the end of year. I was very happy with the fillings and paid my outstanding bill. A month later, I receive a notification for a bill over $500. Confused, I reviewed the services listed in my online portal and saw that all were listed as paid. I called the Brandywine office and was told that my insurance had not covered as much as they expected, despite Brandywine providing an itemized bill when I scheduled the service, and the cost for the error was now being passed on to me. They offered me a 12% discount, implying that this made up for their error. The most infuriating part is that if they had let me know up front that the itemized bill was just an estimate or that they were unsure about how much my insurance would cover, I could have delayed the fillings by 2 weeks and used my 2026 FSA to cover all of the costs. Instead, I ended up stuck with a surprise bill and minimal compassion about its impact. While I was happy with the dentist and dental hygienist, I am so put off by and frustrated with the front desk staff that I will not be returning. And based on many of the reviews, this sounds like common practice. Beware!

Experiencia fantástica: I had to have an extraction and bone graft done which I was terrified of. The team was amazing at making me feel calm and relaxed, even wrapped me in a blanket! Dr Schwartz worked with me personally to figure out the best treatment plan and how to figure out the financial aspects. I felt like the whole team genuinely cared about my health and making sure I had the best experience. Thank you guys so much!

Experiencia fantástica: I’m usually too lazy to write reviews, but my experience at Brandywine Dental truly deserves one. I’m one of those people with a very real fear of dental work, and I needed two crowns installed—something I was absolutely dreading. From the moment I met Dr. Kimmie Nguyen, I knew I was in excellent hands. Beyond being an outstanding dentist, her calm demeanor, soothing voice, and overall poise immediately put me at ease. She gave me the confidence I needed to relax and trust the process, which is not something I take lightly when it comes to dental work. Her assistant was excellent as well—professional, attentive, and reassuring throughout the entire visit. If you’re someone who’s anxious about going to the dentist, I can’t recommend Dr. Nguyen and Brandywine Dental highly enough.

Experiencia fantástica: This is the first review I have ever written. I had to because the service at Brandywine Dental is beyond exceptional. I had my wisdom teeth extracted a few months ago. Dr. Schwartz (and his wonderful staff) made this awful process manageable. The one word I would use to describe my experience is “humane.” I was treated with kindness, professionalism and respect - not like a dollar sign or a number. Schwartz is a rock star and is MY dentist going forward. If I could give ten stars, I would!

(You can schedule/reschedule even via TEXT without having to call and they send you numerous reminders so you never forget about your appointments.) My recent experience with reception has been much more pleasant so I am revising the overall score to 4/5!

Experiencia negativa: Dr. Vaka is very kind and good, as are the receptionists. However, I got probably the worst cleaning of my life--rough, painful and with the most pressure on my teeth ever. Nice guy, and I'm pretty tolerant of pain. They took 8 x-rays and a ton of pics, way more than necessary. Also had 2 appointments cancelled on me last minute, one as I was driving to the office. Also, the billing department won't answer the phone. Fishy. Very bad experience.

Experiencia fantástica: Had a great experience in this office. They made my appointment quickly which I appreciated because I was in pain. The office was clean and accessible. The assistant was very kind and even played some of my favorite music while I waited. The doctor made me feel very comfortable and worked out a fair price. He worked hard to extract two teeth (same day) and completed the procedure professionally and with my comfort in mind. I look forward to visiting this office in the future.

Experiencia fantástica: Adam D. Swartz is the BEST Dentist in the nation's Capitol. I had a wisdom tooth and another that caused my pressure to escalate dutbtonpain. I am afraid of pain. Dr. Adam personally answered the phone, took my name info then placed me in as soon as I arrived even with a waiting room filled with patients. And now I Know why. He and Irene talked me through the whole process in advance during and after as Irene who was off the clock agreed to stay and held my hand for the whole procedure. I was awake for the whole procedure 20 minutes/2 embedded teerh, on wisdom, and felt no pain and no pulling, honest to goodness. I asked Dr. Adam and Irene for a hug afterwards. I was able to ride the bus home and required no pain prescription. Just purchased over the counter just in case. The most caring staff ever . Ms Georgie,vintage,cwas also ver kind. Experiencia fantástica: The group at Brandywine are incredible. They took me in 9 years ago for an emergency crown refitting ( not their fault, but another practice). Last night, my molar cracked. It was after hours, so I left a vm. I immediately received a text to confirm my message and they reached out at 7 am this morning and fit me in for an emergency crown. Dr. Schwartz was there to say hello and Dr. Kimmie was so kind and gentle. Just a wonderful experience for a horrible dental emergency.

I had my baby with me while I waited in the lobby, and the entire staff was so kind and accommodating—not just to me, but to my little one as well. Saphire at the front desk was especially warm and welcoming, checking in on us and making sure we were comfortable. Dr. Schwartz was incredibly kind and gentle with my mom, and we both felt like she was in great hands. It’s not easy managing a dental visit with a baby in tow, but the way everyone treated us made all the difference. Highly recommend this office for their professionalism and genuine care.

I was a little skeptical because I get their mailers and I thought it was like the VisionWorks of dentistry, so I expected a busy, chaotic vibe and rushed service. I had my first appointment today and I had a great experience! The office is quiet, calm, and inviting. The staff are all friendly, welcoming, and patient. The owner greeted me and spent time learning about my dental history and concerns, answered all my questions, explained how certain procedures might address my issues, and provided an immediate care plan, estimate, and visit summary. It's clear this place wants to build lasting relationships with their clients. I really loved my previous dentist so I'm relieved that now I also love this place. I'm sending my entire household here!

I received a careful analysis of my issues and how I wanted to resolve them. I decided to get two new front teeth. The process is involved and included decisions about how white the new teeth should be. Dr Lomke help me choose a natural shade and then proceeded to make. New teeth. He was very, very careful as he went about the process, paying close attention to detail at every step. I am delighted With a result. I also want to note that Brandywine In a straightforward and honest way with costs What I would have to pay Arrived there were no extras or add-ons. I highly recommend Brandywine Dental Care For cosmetic procedures!!

Experiencia negativa: I had a dental hygienist who applied way too much pressure in cleaning my teeth, such that I had bleeding gums that evening and my mouth was sore for days.

Experiencia negativa: My first visit with them was unpleasant because of the receptionist, who was quite rude. I was pressured into paying for services that I didn’t want. But, the actual dental work was fine so I went back 6 months later for another cleaning. First, I was whisked back into the room without so much as giving my name. I had to be the one to tell them who I was just to make sure they were looking at the charts for the right person. The hygienist I had was extremely rough, so much so that my routine cleaning was painful. I have never had a painful dental cleaning before. He also did not say a single other word to me besides “close” and “open.” My mouth is still sore a day later. Overall, I would not recommended this practice and I won’t be going back.

Experiencia negativa: I strongly advise against visiting Dr. Ivan Stangel. My partner’s experience was a complete nightmare from start to finish. During a consultation about his tooth, the doctor performed a cold sensitivity test and accidentally dropped the cold pebble onto my partner’s tongue, burning and injuring it The next day, my partner returned for a root canal, and things only got worse. The doctor drilled the wrong tooth and then rushed through the appointment, failing to properly seal or complete the procedure(s) since two teeth now had to be fixed! This left my partner in excruciating pain for several days. This was an absolutely horrible experience. My partner now has a fear of dentist offices which he did not previously have. Avoid.

Experiencia negativa: Dr. Shwartz has caused more problems for me than he has solved. He didn’t listen to any of my concerns. And left me with an obviously discolored gray implant that can’t be fixed unless it is entirely removed, meaning I have to start this process over again, that has already taken 5 years of my life. This has been extremely heartbreaking for me, and could’ve been avoided entirely.

Experiencia fantástica: Brandywine Dental is absolutely one of the best practices in the area that I have ever dealt with. Everyone is very nice, respectful, and understanding. They get you in fast and treat any problems just as fast and thoroughly. Dr. Schwartz, Dr. Patel and especially Dr. Vaka have been so great to me. I have so much gratitude for their help and care. Even without insurance they helped me to afford the treatment I needed. I will always go back to them.

Experiencia negativa: Good dentist no doubt. After i did my research, realized they charged me more than double for any root canal in the area. Totally took advantage of my situation, which is not good to do anyone. If you have an abundance of money, they do good work, but in my eyes, they shouldn’t take advantage of people when they come for help. Charge a fair market price, not double….jut my 2 cents.

Experiencia negativa: In short: they might NOT take your insurance, but they'll say they do They are not in-network for my insurance (and it sounds like that may be true for others) but multiple people told me they accepted my insurance. I asked multiple times - before making an appointment, during the appointment (simple cleaning), and when paying the "copay" if they took my insurance. There was zero ambiguity as they had my policy number and a copy of my insurance card. They charged the amount for the appointment and said I would be reimbursed. The next thing I get was a denial stating they were out of network. I do not call this "accepting" the insurance at all. They get 2 stars instead of 1 as 1) cleaning care was good and 2) the owner reached out personally to explain and "apologize." I am changing insurances for next year for unrelated reasons - I will absolutely never go back after this

Experiencia negativa: SERVICE: 10/10 no complaint, I was patient with the doctor and she was patient with me. BILLING: Con artists, liars, a huge deceiver working behind that counter. The woman on the end, not the heavy set lady.. Im so happy I don’t know her name.. the worst human i’ve spoken to in a while. just lie lie lied to my face but just last week was singing a beautiful tune. I was sooooo excited to introduce my daughter to Dr. Schwartz’s practice. But not at all. I will not be returning. Thank you so much to the beautiful doctor who cleared my issue. I am forever grateful ❤️ I would like to add context because I’m being harassed and insulted by their staff via text messages. These people accepted my HRA account quickly without questioning only to add in these rude text messages that they have no idea what a Health Reimbursement Account is. How in the world is it my fault that their staff ACCEPTED AND AGREED to use the insurance with the exception that I had to submit the claim on my own, how is it my fault that after the fact there is confusion? Is it my job or yours to collect this information ? My job or yours to understand what the patient’s preferences are? DENISE is her name and she was explained my needs to have the charges sent to insurance but immediately after my procedure, with me wearing the biggest happiest smile, she became aggressive demanding a $2000 payment. I forgive you Denise, I hold no anger in my heart for you. This review is to make people aware, believe the reviews!

Even their hours are better than other places. Even after moving across town I will still truck my way all the way back for Brandywine care. Also, Dr. Lomke is the man.

Crown was produced during the visit and the fitting was comfortable. A very positive visit. I feel that I have found my dental-care home.

Experiencia fantástica: At 87 years young I have successfully finished getting a complete set of dental implants on the lower jaw - a huge and stressful undertaking whatever the age - and throughout it all Dr. Schwartz and his wonderful team delivered top-notch expertise and care. From our first discussions regarding budget and timing, I was offered several options and chose what I was comfortable with. Dr. Schwartz worked with me and my family to map out a plan and went to great lengths to explain every step of the process. Several months later I now have a smile worth smiling about! In addition to myself, Dr. Schwartz and Dr. Patel take care of several members of my family (children and grandchildren) covering everything from routine visits to root canals, crowns and even wisdom tooth extraction, all in their state-of-the-art office. We couldn't be happier with Brandywine Dental Practice and you will be too!

Experiencia negativa: Update: I started a dental implant procedure, but wasn’t able to complete it at Brandywine because I was moving out of state. The dentist was yelling at me on the phone because he would not give me a refund for the portion of the procedure that I had already paid for and was not able to complete. Ultimately, he let me talk to his Financial Manager. She refunded me and apologized profusely because the dentist didn’t understand the numbers and how the office had owed me money. The dentist should not have ANYTHING to do with customer payments because he clearly does not understand basic accounting. I also got a bone graft here and it failed so the dentist referred me elsewhere in Maryland which was 1+ hour commute from where I lived because he was more confident in their capabilities than his. This was after his initial bone had ALREADY failed so I had to pay for this work again elsewhere. ————————— Hands down, I received the best dental treatment in my life at Brandywine! I just moved back to the area and was searching for a dentist until I remembered my fabulous experience at Brandywine about three years ago. In October 2019, I came to Brandywine for an emergency because I had just chipped my front tooth as a college student without any dental insurance. The healthcare providers not only graciously took me in despite not having dental insurance, but they went beyond to ensure that I felt supported and taken care of. My lips and face were cut from the accident, and they carefully worked around my injuries to avoid any additional pain. I also had a concussion and they made sure the light was never too bright to avoid worsening my condition. They walked me through every step of the process to make sure I was informed and created a sleep retainer to wear at night so that any grinding would not further damage my teeth. As a college student who was paying for this on my own without any insurance, they even gave me a discount! I vividly still remember this experience three years later, and it has been the best healthcare experience I have ever had. Go to Brandywine — I am so grateful I found them. Everyone there truly cares about your well-being and wants to help you in whichever way they can!

Experiencia fantástica: I wanted to share my experience at Brandywine Dental Care. As a recent transplant from the suburbs of Northern California, where everyone practically knows your name, I've visited many dental practices. However, never in my entire life have I been to a dental office where EVERY single person was kind, considerate, cordial, and most of all, welcoming. In fact, when I walked in, everyone said hello. I looked around as three people at the front desk were not directly facing me, and though they were on the phone, they said hello—or perhaps someone was behind me. Lol. Clearly, this culture comes from the doctors. Now, onto Dr. Joshua Lomke, AKA Dr. Josh. This man is amazing; he immediately made me feel comfortable and spent a lot of time getting to know me. Honestly, he made me feel like I was his most important patient. Although I dread going back to get work done, I can tell you, I know I am in the right hands as Dr. Joshua is an extremely thorough doctor. Lol. I've found my dental office!!

Experiencia fantástica: Can't say enough good things about this team. This is my 3rd dentist I've seen in the DC area, and they will be my forever dentist. It a great environment, very down to earth, with state of the art equipment that most offices do not have. They have an excellent team that's open longer hours including the weekends which is huge for people that work. I see Dr Schwartz and Dr Patel. I came to them for a second opinion and am so glad I did. The work my prior dentist recommended was extreme, so I asked Dr. Schwartz and Dr, Patel for a second opinion, and they basically crossed half my prior dentists' recommendations off the list and said it was really overkill and unnecessary. They don't recommend drilling if it's not totally necessary which is not the case with all dental practices. Additionally, I had a complicated issue with some back teeth and was experiencing pain over the holidays - I texted and they responded within 1 minute even though the practice was closed for the holiday. Other practices I've been at have taken a whole day to reply. Their office has technology in this office most dentists don't have or would have to send you to a second location for. In this office EVERYTHING is done in house so it's one stop shopping. The team in the front office has always been really nice and welcoming. The hygienists are wonderful. If you feel like your current dentist is not acting in your best interest, or is difficult to work with, I highly recommend you come to this office and give them a try. This is the dentist to go to when things are not going well and you need a team to help figure out a realistic solution.

They got me right in Contacted my dentist in Omaha to consulted together. Came up with a solution and replaced my tooth within an hour! I would recommend them to anyone. Let’s talk about my Dentist she extracted my tooth with the ultimate professionalism I didn’t even realize it was out , she was also very patient and knowledgeable I’m so very grateful for how patient she was . The doctors diagnosed the problems and talked about the different options that I could do to get the issues fixed. Omgg when I say professional and knowledgeable and sure of what they are doing, they made me feel totally at ease as they proceeded to get to the root of the problem .I am thankful for friends that referred me to Brandywine Dental Care it was a perfect experience for me. Experiencia fantástica: I went to Brandywine for the very first time today, for emergency care for a broken tooth. In under three hours, they were able to inspect the tooth, determine that it could be saved with a crown, and fit it with a permanent crown, so I wouldn't have to do a return visit. I couldn't ask for much more.

People are pretty nice but they tell me one price and I pay it all at once, get the work done, come back for more and pay what they say but then months later they’re calling and emailing asking for almost $500 more! I would’ve rather known up front then be told everything is okay and then be blind sided by another bill!

Experiencia fantástica: Over the years, I've been to 4 other dental groups in the DC area, and Brandywine Dental is by far, the best. Amazingly efficient and friendly docs and assistants, including the front desk admin personnel. A great team. If anyone can make getting a root canal bearable (cuz everyone knows they're no fun), Dr. Lomke can. Being able to view before and after pictures of my teeth, on the screen, and discuss dental care needs with Dr. Schwartz is helpful and informative. The assistants and interns are also friendly, helpful, informative, and take time to explain things. The whole team always goes above and beyond to ensure my comfort and address my concerns. Of course Dr. Adam Schwartz is the G.O.A.T. of dentistry and an excellent human being (and doing!). Love this group.
