Experiencia negativa: When arriving for my first visit, I was asked for my ID and insurance and told I had to fill out some paperwork. The receptionist was having trouble logging into her email, called her help desk, and was in the process of troubleshooting, when after almost 10 minutes of me standing their, she reached for a clipboard by her desk and gave me the already prepped/printed forms to complete. Not a great first impression, but I tried to stay open-minded. Next, I had panoramic x-rays, plus a complete set of bitewing x-rays plus numerous camera shots. Wow! More pictures than I ever had in a single visit. Following that was the standard gum measurement as well as another few minutes of probing around “inspecting” my mouth. When I was told the doctor would be in soon, I inquired about as to if my cleaning would be done after — which is what I THOUGHT I had scheduled. Nope. First I was told “not enough time” which then became “it’s never done on a first visit” which then became “we need to get prior approval from my dental insurance.” Ridiculous! At the very least, they could have warned me when I scheduled it that this appointment would be for assessment only. I only came to this office because it is the only one in my Medicare Advantage plan. Drawing this visit into two — which have never happened in the multiple dentists I’ve seen while living in multiple state over 50 years — seems a bit excessive. Hopefully, my next visit for my cleaning won’t become the “Oh, you need this, this and that work (costing thousands) done.” We’ll see. UPDATE: When I went in for my cleaning, I was told I had to pay $44. I explained how my insurance covers cleanings 100%. I was told not the type of cleaning I needed. I questioned it and asked if the dentist could recheck the hygienist notes so I could get my cleaning that day. Instead, the office manager came in and told me I had to pay the money or I couldn’t get my teeth cleaned. I left, and as soon as I got outside, I called my insurance company. They confirmed my cleaning — no matter what type it was — would be covered 100%. I even went inside to check with the office manager on the exact code for the services she was charging me for. My insurance company again verified that yes, that prophylactic procedure was covered 100%. I relayed that to the office manager, and she told me she would check with the hygienist to see if she could still see me. I went back outside to finish my call so I did not disrupt people in the waiting room. When I went back inside, the office manager told me the hygienist would not see me because she was uncomfortable with treating me since I had doubted her. I was told I had to go somewhere else. I ended up having to go to the next closest place from my house. It was 45 minutes away. Now I’m fighting with my insurance to pay for all the scans that Atlantic Smiles took and would not give me without charging me. I never did get to see the dentist. However, she was sitting right there talking to the office manager when this was all occurring. Therefore, she was complicit in this fiasco. What’s even stranger is the fact that they told me I had to come back for a cleaning anyway because my cleaning required preapproval. The insurance company said they never received a preapproval request. I recently saw that this office was closing. It’s the best thing that could happen to this town and to the practice.

Experiencia positiva: Basic facilities (no gas during painful procedures and 80s decor); very friendly and informed staff; ghost-like dentist. I knew I needed a deep cleaning, the hygienist agreed after evaluation. The dentist breezed through - have been to the office three times for over 3 hours total and have spent maybe 5 min with her. My hygienist was P-H-E-N-O-M-E-N-A-L. The dental industry needs to have a nurse-practitioner level certification if it doesn’t, because the value came from her not the dentist that breezed through. Tired of paying for credentials that don’t provide 1:1 service.

Experiencia fantástica: Excellent service! I was misdiagnosed by another dentist with a cavity. The staff here reassured me I did not have a cavity just a stain they would keep an eye on. My son who has a speech delay also went for an exam and the entire staff was so kind and patient with him. My family has found their new dentist. Will recommend to other family and friends.

I was greeted with a smile and kindness by The Office Specialist. She appears to juggle many duties. She answers all calls, makes appointments, greets Everyone with a smile and handles payments and paperwork. Dr. Al-Eid was terrific! She’s professional and through. She treats her staff kind and respectful. Her Dental Assistant is so sweet and professional. My Hygienist did an Awesome job on my cleaning. If you’re looking for a new Dentist, give Atlantic Smiles a try. I was very pleased with their services.

Experiencia negativa: I don’t know exactly what’s going on, but this office clearly needs intervention. There has been significant staff turnover since I first became a patient about two years ago. Dr. Olson’s quality of care declined noticeably—one example being a filling he placed that fell out just six months later. During that time, it was nearly impossible to reach anyone at the office by phone; the only contact available was a third-party call service located overseas. The office then appeared to be closed for several months, with no clear communication. While the practice has since reopened with new staff and a new doctor, they are clearly understaffed. I waited an hour and a half for my appointment. When it was finally time for X-rays, the machine in the room was not working or transmitting to their IT system. I was told the solution was to use one of the other two rooms, but they were already occupied, requiring me to wait again until the doctor finished with other patients. The ownership needs to step up and address these ongoing issues. I have to mention that the entire office is overdue for improvements , including a thorough cleaning, fresh paint, and overall improvements to the quality and appearance of the facility.

Experiencia fantástica: I must be the world’s worst dental patient. My anxiety goes through the roof just by sitting in the chair. The staff at Atlantic Smiles were absolutely AMAZING!! They put me at ease without effort. Everyone there was courteous, professional and even humorous. I have NEVER laughed that much in a dental office without using laughing gas.

Experiencia fantástica: This is my new dentist. After 40 years with the same dentist I who I loved, INSURANCE made me switch networks! So glad I found this group of caring professionals. Inital visit was a very thorough workup. 2nd was a deep periodontal cleaning and my 3rd was for a crown. They worked with the insurance company, made all the processes as painless as possible for both my mouth and my wallet. Lisa the Business / Office Manager is always so cheerful. Her huge smile itself is contagious and the welcome coffee and hot chocolate are just a bonus.

Experiencia fantástica: Every person I met there was sweet and professional. BUT I WENT IN TO HAVE A VENEER GLUED BACK ON AND WAS CHARGED $361. This is how screwed up the American system is. I got my veneers in Thailand and each one cost less to mill and install with the most advanced Ceric machine than to have it glued back on at Atlantic Smiles. I give 5 stars for Ms. Lisa, the dental assistant and the dentist, but the cost was utterly ridiculous, and I paid cash.

I didn’t believe it and thought it was a scam Atlantic Smiles did the same check and all were 1to2’s with a couple of 3’s. Dentist commented that my gums were healthy. They were able to do the exam and cleaning and I was satisfied I would highly recommend

The staff was amazing and made it a super comfortable atmosphere. I love it so much I brought my 3 yr old in, she loved it and it was her first dentist appointment, and my 14 yr old son has an appointment tomorrow. So the whole family sees this office. Just an overall fantastic experience.

Experiencia negativa: Is this practice in busness? My wife and I were there for our first visit in May. A week later, our cousin, who we had suggested she use the dentist, called to say that she had shown up for her first scheduled appointment, but the doors were locked and the practice was out of business. We tried to call, but their was no answer. In June, we received a large bill for the uncovered portion of our May visits. So my wife called and a very surly person answered. She told us the practice was closed and the dentist had moved closer to his family in another town. We requested copies of the xrays taken and the dentist's report on our oral examinations. The person, who was so loud that I could over hear what she said, did not want to provide the info so I told my wife that we should check into suing them. The person heard what I said. She apparently told my wife she would send her records and then she humg up us. Just recently, my wife told me that in reviewing what Ms. Surly had sent, she actually provided both our records. I have not paid the bill and received another copy this month. After debating what to do, I finally decided to pay the bill, forget about it, and find another local dentist. When I searched the Atlantic Smiles web site to see if I could find information to file a complaint with the Florida Dental Assoication (DOH), I was surprised to see that another dentist and staff has taken over. What is the status of this practice? Who is the dentist? What kind of record does he/she have? Is the same surly staff person still there?

Experiencia fantástica: Apparently there was a significant upheaval between my APR cleaning and my AUG cleaning! All new faces from the office help to the dentist, which explains the extra attention now being given to patients. Though I was only there for a cleaning and checkup, everyone went the extra mile and they all deserve a good review - I am hopeful that these standards remain high.

Experiencia negativa: HORRIBLE SERVICE. CANNOT GET THEIR BILLING STRAIGHT! When I call to speak to their billing department they take a message and tell me they will call back within 24 hours. This NEVER HAPPENS! Now they are telling me they have closed their doors for a couple of weeks...I wonder why. They lost me as a patient!

Experiencia fantástica: I called the office not too long ago to re-schedule an appointment I had missed due to illness and was informed by the answering service that the office is closed indefinitely and that the doctor (Dr. Olson) and hygenist (Raj) were no longer there, also there was no one at the location in Fernandina to speak with.

This place never returns calls and there’s no one to talk to about a bill that was sent to me because they didn’t file it the proper way.. There’s so many red flags going to this place after talking to people now that’s it’s under new management.. Sad thing is I never had problems with them until now .. I have been going here for years. So do yourself a favor and don’t go here .. To the one in Fernandina Beach Florida. And to top it off Mr.Olsen retired just like that.. So it makes me wonder what is really going on just saying ..

Experiencia fantástica: I am above satisfied with Amelia Dental Group. The staff is amazing and communication is spot on. Dr Garrett is the Very Best Dentist I have ever gone to and I thought I had been to the best. Dr Garrett has had some challenging appointments due to many very old crowns, fillings and crooked teeth that I have finally had corrected. Unfortunately a few of my old crowns have had infection to the bone and required bone grafts and implants. Not unusual when crowns or root canals were completed 20-30 years ago. Much has changed in the dental technology, AmeliaDental is on top of technology. My crowns always fit the first time. No visits to correct my bite as in the past. Thank you Doctor Garrett for being Superior and caring about your patients.

The two dentist that have taken care of me over all these years have retired. Im a AARP Member since age 50. AARP introduced me to Atlantic Smiles Dental in their program. Wooooow was I Lucky!! A.S.D. are the best taken care of this ole man. Very Gentle what I call "Soft Hands " when working on that tender part of the body. I recommend them highly.

This was my second time with him. Both times Raj was excellent, polite, thorough, gentle and personable. He spent a lot of time doing the exam and cleaning and did a superior job. I have been going to Dr. Olson’s office for several years now and have never been disappointed. I recommend Atlantic Smiles to anyone who is looking for an excellent dentist!!
