Experiencia fantástica: I used to dread going to the dentist until I started coming here. Everyone is so nice and personable. I appreciate how Dr. Dorantes and Dr. Vernon explain what they see on my xrays, and they always make sure I'm comfortable while I'm there.

Experiencia positiva: Generally I think this is a good dentist's office. The dentist communicates clearly and succinctly, and all of the hygienists are friendly and pleasant to interact with. However, I always leave this office in a bad mood because of the interactions with the front office staff. There seems to be a determination to not call in prescriptions for patients, a standard process at most all medical facilities, lead by the office manager. It was recommended to me on my previous visit that I use a prescription toothpaste once daily. I was given the option to either buy it in the office (for $22) or spin the wheel and see if my insurance covers it. When I asked how much it might cost, I just got a lot of shrugs. At previous dentists' offices I've been to, the staff have been able to look up in the moment if my insurance covers something OR have offered to look into it for me and get back to me. That was never been presented as an option here. I was then taken aback to receive a paper prescription from the office manager to bring to a pharmacy. I couldn't tell you the last time I received a paper prescription; I thought maybe it was just a policy to not call in prescriptions. However, on my visit today, the initial person I spoke to upon checking out offered to call it in for me. It turns out I didn't need her to because the last prescription came with refills - which the office manager was quick to point out - but I appreciated the offer, as it is more efficient to go to the pharmacy when a prescription is already ready for pick-up.

Thanks to the help and care from Des Moines Dental Center I’m back on track with good teeth. Never once did I get a lecture on what I neglected or what I should have done. My assigned Dental Hygienist, In, did an excellent job of putting me at ease while cleaning my teeth. Dr. Dorantes then performed his exam and recommended a couple of crowns due to cracks in two teeth. I had the first one done the following week and everything went very well. I am happy with the results and look forward to having the second tooth completed soon. I would recommend Des Moines Dental Center for any dental care you require. Thank you!

Dr. Dorantes gave practical advice about my flossing habits, which I really appreciated and I will try to follow his suggestion for sure. Experiencia fantástica: As a new patient this was one of the best experiences I’ve had at a dental office. The front desk people greeted me w/ warmth, took copies of my info & I sat in the waiting room for a very short time. Then X-Rays were taken & I went to another room. Dr. Dorantes came in after a couple of minutes. He went over the X-Rays w/me explaining every detail, what it meant, things that might need to be fixed, readjusted, etc. Several times he checked w/me to ask if I had questions & concerns. He said that overall my teeth looked good & I was doing a good job w/ my oral hygiene. He was not rushed & answered all my questions. He was kind & it was a pleasure to meet him. Then the hygienist cleaned my teeth. It was extremely thorough, she explained what I was doing good & what I needed to improved. She spent a lot of time on my teeth, they felt amazing when she was done.

Experiencia fantástica: Edit 7/14/25: Jenny is the best hygienist. I would recommend her to anyone. I see her 3-4 times a year and she makes me feel calm and welcome. Edit: I've had 85% of my work done and it has been fantastic. I have severe anxiety and they have been conscientious of this. I have lots of work needing to be done and the whole staff has been wonderful. Jenny is an absolutely amazing, kind, and gentle hygienist.

Experiencia fantástica: Literally one of the best dentists I have ever been to. The dental hygienists are all super informative and give way more information to help educate you on better/proper dental hygiene (shout out to Becky and some of the other gals). Other offices I've been to don't take the level of care to do that. Dr. Dorantes also knows his patients by name, and makes a point say hi to everyone. He definitely cares whether his patients are comfortable or not when it comes to procedures. I had two wisdom teeth removed recently and a couple small fillings, and it was all super quick and relatively painless. I've never had this great of an experience at a dentist office. Front office staff are friendly too!! Even if I move farther from the office, I'm definitely still going to make the trek to come here for future dental needs. 10/10 definitely recommend!

Experiencia fantástica: I have been coming to this dental office since I was in grade school. The staff have always been very professional, kind and good at their jobs. Dr Drantis* is very efficient and likes to check in after any oral procedure is done, as well as they all give good positive feedback on oral health without shame. They have also been very fair and accommodating when dealing with dental insurance coverage which can be tricky sometimes. I live out of state and come here for every cleaning, check up and occasional filling because I’m so comfortable here.

Experiencia fantástica: One month before my next appointment, a crown came off that was performed by a previous dentist. I called on Monday morning to try desperately to get in to protect the exposed tooth from damage. Of course, the schedule for the day was filled but, they said to come in and they would work me in. I was fitted with a temporary crown and in 2 weeks will have a new permanent crown installed. This shows me they are there not to just there to make money but to take care of their patients. That creates a loyalty on both sides. Wonderful staff throughout, and of course, "Dr. D" is excellent as well. Thanks to the entire crew for the terrific care.

Experiencia positiva: Giving a four stars because love the dentists here with their care for patient comfort, the hygienists are super informative, and love the front office staff. However, the one front office staff (Carina I think) doesn't do her due diligence to explain billing and didn't ask to collect payment for my last dental appointment. Normally after you're done with your appointment, you go to the front and pay, but she said I was "all good to go." I thought it was a bit odd, but then shrugged it off. Surprise - I got a message for a bill notifying me that I owed $120+. Last time I was there, I also heard another customer who was upset because billing wasn't explained to him prior to getting services rendered. Always do your due diligence to confirm and ask questions. Lessons learned. Otherwise, great dental office.

Looked me over cleaned my teeth and told me and showed me exactly what they thought I needed. The Dr went over my X-ray and showed me exactly what he thought I needed. Experiencia fantástica: My dentist retired and referred me to a Dentist in Renton and sent all my records there. But Renton is so far away! So I decided to try a local Dentist in the city of Des Moines and I lucked out by getting a good one with my first try. After my x-rays were done Dr Dorantes came in, showed me the x-rays and pxs and explained everything to me in a friendly relaxed manner. And I'm so thankful that he caught a few things that I wasn't aware of. The staff is very friendly too and know what they are doing. Jennie, one of the dental assistants there is also a plus, friendly and did a great job cleaning my teeth. Their clinic is above Alina's Cafe so you turn East on S 219th st and park in the back of the building and their clinic is on the SAME level as the parking so you don't have to use the stairs. That's another benefit of this place. Especially for us older folks. That's it!! Just impressed with this whole place!

My teeth were not good when I started seeing him, but now my smile is great! I have 2 implants and a couple of Crowns. The office is clean and the equipment is cutting edge. Ben is a good dude who takes his profession seriously and shows great pride in his work. I recommend him immediately whenever I can.

Experiencia positiva: Quality of care is excellent. Very quick, gentle, everyone was adept at providing care and making sure I understood what was going on. My quibble, however, is with their unforgiving broken-appointment fees. I was hit twice. Once when I was sick with a fever - I ate the cost because I didn't want to risk it. Fine. The second was more annoying - my insurance lapsed, and I intended to pay out of pocket. Unfortunately, I got a text message the day before my appointment that since my insurance was invalid, my appointment would be cancelled and that I'd be charged the missed appointment penalty. I was never consulted. The appointment was cancelled with zero opportunity to even correct the insurance, had I possibly had another insurance. It rather turned me off of the office. I asked for a proper invoice for the penalty (it listed a missed appointment, which it wasn't - they cancelled, not me) but my email was ignored. The person at the front desk was apologetic when I told them my story and said they'd look into it, but no follow-up came of it. This all happened many months ago, perhaps their policies have changed.

The dental hygienist was very communicative and explained every step of the process to me, making sure that I was comfortable with every part of my cleaning. Dr. Dorantes came in and spoke to me about my teeth and gave me a very thorough explanation about what to look out for and any concerns he had. Overall 10 out of 10 experience, highly recommend!
