Fantastic experience: My partner Lou and I thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Dr. Whitcomb. I always observe how the colleagues in the office interact among themselves and with the doctor. All very positive. I’m happy we’ll be partnering with this group in the future. Continuing with six-month visits a And totally appreciate “finding” this office. Everyone is very cheerful including reception, hygienists, and doc himself. Makes visits to dentist agreeable.

Fantastic experience: Welcoming, friendly, professional staff from the desk to the chair. They utilize a great system to monitor your dental health, and is shown on a screen in front of you. I didn't see a dentist for maybe 13 years, until my molar developed a literal crater... I was "excited"'s polar opposition knowing I had to go back to the dentist - especially for what I knew would be my first root canal (having never had as much as a cavity / filling). I wanted them to just pull it, after hearing horror stories about root canals, but Dds. Whitcomb talked me in to not giving up on my mouth at a young age. After learning this advice was coming from someone schooled and trained by extensive military dental experience, I had three words; "Alright, let's go". My experience has been great enough that I continue to share with everyone concerned about dental experiences, and I'm religous now about scheduling my 6 month cleanings which are quick, painless, and comforting, knowing I have such great help in taking care of myself. This review is more of an ode or thanks to Opalescence, but it's readers should not hesitate to share in my experience. Your mouth is important, choose people who know

Negative experience: Update 7/8/26- since leaving the review, I received a letter in the mail stating he would no longer treat me (I received this after I had a dentist fix what he messed up) because sometime it just isn’t a good fit. I got my mail today and received a random $250 bill (after insurance and I paid out of pocket each time I was in, I have receipts). There is no way this is a valid cost since I already overpaid last time and was told I would likely have a credit because he didn’t do the entire procedure I had already paid for. This feels like a bill was sent due to this review. Edit: it’s been two weeks since I was told Jackson would reach out, and as expected, he has not. Absolutely nothing done and I’ve now spent $1500 to fix what he messed up, on top of what I paid him. I’m only giving two stars because I’ve been told they’re harder to remove and potential patients need to be aware. I’d give zero stars if possible. I went to Opalescence for a tooth repair. I was told I needed a root canal and crown. I went in for said appointment and was told there wasn’t as much decay as he originally thought, but he would still recommend a crown. It was not explained to me my entire tooth would be gone with this option. I didn’t know until my tongue felt the gap. I voiced concerns over the temporary crown leaving tooth exposed and was told not to worry, the finished product would cover it. Fast forward three weeks to when I went in for the actual crown. The initial permanent crown wouldn’t fit so it had to be drilled down. The dentist and his assistant kept talking about how small my teeth were. After placement, I was asked how it felt and I voiced concerns about the tooth setting on my actual tongue when my mouth was closed. I was told it wasn’t my real tooth, it wouldn’t be my real tooth, and to just get over it. He “attempted” to fix it only after I was visibly tearing up. At this point, his irritation was obvious which made me feel worse. I said it still didn’t feel right, but I was brushed off. I left sobbing and asked to just cancel the next appointment. I went out to my car, looked in my mirror, and broke down. The crown didn’t cover my tooth at any part of the parameter. It looks like playdoh stuck on the edge of my tooth. The whole base is still jagged. I immediately called another dentist and they advised it sounded like an onlay, not a crown. I immediately scheduled an appointment to get it fixed as they informed me the real tooth should never be visible with a crown. I’ve been crying all day, unable to work because I’m embarrassed of how my smile looks. Only after leaving a voicemail about my wanting my money refunded so I could get it fixed properly did anyone seem to care that it wasn’t done right. I was told it was impossible and he could fix it. Why would I want someone that didn’t listen while I was in tears to “fix” it? I was asked why I didn’t complain about how it looked in office. I was never shown. I did, however, point out that the jagged edge at the top was going to bother me before I even left, but was brushed off. In the simplest words- don’t go here if you’re nervous about the dentist, you have sensory sensitivities, or don’t want to feel like a burden for expecting basic dental work norms to be taken seriously.

Fantastic experience: Great staff and dental hygienist, very fast and friendly, willing to answer any questions. Dr. Whitcomb is always willing to address any concerns or questions, and his office and place always looks clean and sharp.... I would recommend him and all of his staff to anyone..

Fantastic experience: I've been going here for about a year. It's a great place. It's actually a very welcoming atmosphere. The front desk staff and hygienists are so nice. Dr. Whitcomb is very nice as well. Would recommend!! *update* Still going to this dental office. It's a nice office. Staff is super friendly. I like that my hygienist explains things thoroughly and gives useful information for me to use in my home routine. Dr. Whitcomb seems very nice.

Fantastic experience: Erin is by far the best hygienist I ever had. She’s personable and concerned. Went the extra distance to help me out. Dr. Whitcome is great too. He addresses issues quickly and offers solutions other providers don’t. I’m happy with the whole office. They do everything they can to get things done for you.

Fantastic experience: Very positive experience. Extremely new equipment. Very friendly staff. Made a quick phone call looking for a new dentist for a cleaning and a week later I had an appointment that even took my insurance right away. All the modern communication mechanisms like text messages and emails. I would highly recommend this practice.

Fantastic experience: I couldn’t be more pleased with the care that I have received at Opalescence Dental. I don’t have perfect teeth and I knew, before my first visit, that I needed work done. I was embarrassed just going in for my appointment. They did not compound those feelings. They were very respectful, clear and concise about the problems that needed addressed. Dr. Whitcomb is excellent and efficient. He offers a wide range of treatment options from root canals to cosmetic dentistry. One stop shopping, if you will .

Fantastic experience: My first visit was a wonderful experience — and I have major dental anxiety! The cleaning was very gentle, and when a filling done elsewhere fell out that morning, they fit me in the same day to fix it. I even had no pain the next day! Highly recommend! First time, not scared for my next appointment!

Fantastic experience: Best dentist I’ve ever been to. 3 kids is a lot going anywhere but appointments especially and the staff here really make you feel seen. They are super friendly and patient. 2 year old had her first dentist appointment and there were no tears no tantrums no feel scared nothing because Erin did so great with her. She showed her all of the tools she used before hang them and was very kind it was all around a great experience very grateful to their team. Receptionists are also very friendly

Fantastic experience: Let’s just say I was petrified of the Dentist before going here. Beautiful office with wonderful staff that are always pleasant and helpful. Dr. Jackson Whitcomb single-handedly saved all of my teeth one procedure at a time. When I first saw him, I had every intention of pulling them and getting dentures in my early 40s, which was scary. He told me he could make me have a beautiful smile again and over a few years that’s exactly what he did. I recommend any and everybody make an appointment at Opalescence.

Fantastic experience: Go Blue I knew I was in good hands when I saw Dr. Whitcomb‘s credentials- Western, U of M and a Veteran. The vibe at Opalescence dental is fantastic. The office is fun, friendly and honestly has the best music playlist I’ve ever heard in a clinical setting (Gen X approved) I really had a positive experience from start to finish and I’m so happy I discovered this practice. Fantastic experience: From the moment I walked into the lobby, I was greeted by everyone. This was my first time there and the receptionist called me by name. From beginning to end I felt welcomed. Everyone seem to love what they were doing and cared about it. The care I received was top notch and I really felt comfortable with Dr. Whitcomb and his assistant(I apologize for not remembering her name) but she was awesome. For everyone at the front desk A+ for customers service. I would definitely recommend them if you want your teeth in good hands and to feel like you matter..

Positive experience: Everyone there is super nice, but we’ve had a few frustrating experiences. The first time I took my son, the dentist was very hesitant to do anything because he didn’t want to make him cry. I completely understand wanting kids to feel comfortable, but we ended up just talking the whole visit and nothing was actually done with his teeth. I’m a little worried about getting the bill for that since no dental work was completed. Then my fiancé had some scheduling issues. He needed to come back for a filling but couldn’t make the original date, so he called and rescheduled the same day he made the appointment. However, on the day of the original appointment they still called asking where he was. When he asked about the new appointment, they said it wasn’t in the system, so he had to schedule another one. Then later they called him on the day of the appointment they said didn’t exist asking if he was coming in. It seems like there were multiple mix-ups with scheduling. Because of that, we decided not to return. If there are issues keeping appointments organized, it just makes us a little uneasy about trusting them with our dental care.

The Dentist was professional and shared my options for the plan moving forward.I highly recommend them. The front desk staff are very friendly and helpful. The Dental assistant is amazing and Doc is knowledgeable and compassionate .

The friends I have referred to Dr Whitcomb were very pleased as well. Very happy to support a veteran owned business. The hygienists are top notch.

Fantastic experience: I am working in Michigan ( from SC) and had unexpected tooth pain. I called Opalescence and they were able to get me in the next day for treatment. This dentist is all business and took care of my issue in record time. The staff was courteous and professional. I had a very comfortable experience and will have them be my dental practice while I am in Michigan.

Positive experience: The dentist office is great and the staff too. The service was even better; I would have given it a five star rating but I had one negative. After my teeth whitening, I did not receive a Pamphlet or single paper of instructions on what or not to drink. All the instructions were for you to remember amd nothing to reference.

Erin was incredibly patient with my kids for their cleaning and put up with my daughter’s 100 questions with grace. Dr. Whitcomb was friendly, personable, and didn’t make us feel rushed. He took his time to ensure he answered all my questions and came up with a solid treatment plan. Tiffany at the front was a huge blessing giving me the credit info & got all of that squared away with me so quickly. I don’t think we will be going anywhere else ever again… 10/10
