Fantastic experience: Five stars aren't enough! From the moment you walk in, the office makes a great impression—it's beautifully decorated, comfortable, and thoughtful, complete with a great refreshment setup offering water, coffee, canned sparkling drinks, and even a fun retro arcade game while you wait. The front desk staff makes you feel welcomed and cared for right away with their friendly, organized service. The hygienists are incredibly gentle, thorough, and attentive, making cleanings completely painless. Dr. Jernigan is exceptional—knowledgeable, patient, and takes the time to explain everything clearly. The entire team operates with such high standards of care and professionalism. Fantastic experience: We moved from Emerald dentistry and it’s a night and day different experience. You feel welcomed, the waiting area is nice and well stocked with drinks and there’s free WiFi capable of letting you get a bit of work done. The staff is super professional. Fantastic experience: On the way back from vacation, I broke a crown and I called Well’s family dentistry in Gateway Commons. They were able to see me the same day and Dr. Jernigan replaced the 20 -year-old crown that had failed me. I have to say the lowest amount of pain and anxiety in my 62 years of being seen by a dentist Five stars -10 out of 10.

Fantastic experience: I had a wonderful experience at this dental office. The staff was incredibly kind and made a very painful situation so much better. Although I needed a referral for a root canal procedure, they acted promptly and provided medication that truly helped. Everyone was very knowledgeable, compassionate, and happy to help throughout the process. Negative experience: Saw Dr. Jernigan, without confirming on x-rays suggesting I need a filling on a lateral incisor due to a stain that was newly visible after orthodontic treatment. Seems a bit careless and exploitative.

Negative experience: Became very painful during the weekend. Tried to contact the designated weekend standby Dentest Dr Woll to no avail. Called 3 times and he never returned my call.

Negative experience: I wanted to love this place. I read the reviews and thought I would feel good about my choice. The hygientist was supper rough but worst of all has been the insurance issue. The day before my appointment, they called and said I didn't have insurance despite me spending time to set up all my information in the portal. I called and they said they had it. 1 month later a bill came and my insurance company has never received a claim. I called to verify and they had entered 1 number wrong when submitting the claim, month 2, another bill and my insurance says they never received a claim. What a mess!

Fantastic experience: They saw me on short notice for a tooth that had broken off. They couldn't extract it immediately but I went back the next day and had the extraction done. I didn't even feel the novacaine. Everyone including Dr. Jernigan were wonderful!

The office was modern, clean, and very welcoming. I explained my anxiety and “pet peeves” regarding dental care and they truly listened. Fantastic experience: I’ve never been to a dentist and thought they really cared about my dental wellbeing until now. They give you options and don’t upsell just to make money. Fantastic experience: Sam, The hygienist ,asked me how I felt and or about my experiences with going to the dentist so I was able to explain to her some of my fears. In doing so she always let me know if she thought something might cause some discomfort and was gentle yet still thorough in my cleaning. She took away the anxiety that I have felt from other hygienist and so I am very thankful that I will get to see her twice a year to help me in my dental care. Dr Jernigan was very sweet and thorough , as well as gentle, when she performed my first exam with The clinic. Hopefully I won’t have to see her more than twice a year for an exam but from everything I’ve heard I think she will be a good fit for me if any work is to be done.

Fantastic experience: Only my second visit but, so far, so good. I do NOT feel like I'm just another number being corralled in like some of the other practices that have become too large for their own good. The front staff is pleasant to deal with and the hygienist and doctors have also been great. Appointments have been on-time for both visits. Unfortunately, I started with this practice just before the dentist I was assigned to left for maternity leave so I really haven't had a chance to get established with just one doctor yet. All in due time. Overall, I think my move from the previous place was a great choice.

Fantastic experience: Dr Anna Shope is wonderful. Her calm professional manner is reassuring. She’s very gentle and skilled. It’s nice to have a dentist who I trust. I live in a new neighborhood and I have recommended Dr Shope to neighbors who are new to the area. Also had an incredibly thorough cleaning by Roxana. Fantastic experience: I had a deep gum cleaning done with Will. It needed lots of gentle work because the area was so sensitive. Will provided gentle, detailed care for my teeth and gums. He let me choose some music documentaries to keep myself relaxed, did a great job numbing the areas and took real care that I was comfortable during procedures. I’ve been to many dentists over the years, these guys are the best! Super friendly, place is really clean and they are super professional and helpful. Highly recommend!!!! Negative experience: I would not recommend going here if you have tooth pain- when I called I specifically asked if they see urgent cases after developing severe tooth pain over 24 hours. They said yes and fit me in the same day, which is great except AFTER having Xrays, they said they didn’t have the “proper equipment”for what they thought could possibly be a root canal. Of course I paid, left frustrated in pain and answers except a referral to a different dentist that could handle this situation better. I felt it was a waste of time and resources- I do not think the Dentist I saw today was experienced so therefore I would not recommend this office.

Negative experience: I have been a long-time patient at Wells Family Dental on Louisburg Road, where I always looked forward to my dental cleanings without issue. My family switched to the Gateway Commons location due to its proximity. Unfortunately, my recent experience was awful. During our last cleaning appointment, our regular hygienist was no longer working there, and the replacement was excessively aggressive, leaving my mouth in pain for over a week. I reported this to the front desk, who assured me I could request a different hygienist next time. Thankfully, my 13-year-old son was seen by another hygienist, sparing him a potentially traumatic experience. My husband had an equally terrible experience with the same hygienist. He also needed a cavity filled, but two months later, he was still in pain. An X-ray at Wells Family Dental showed nothing, yet his discomfort persisted. A second opinion from another dentist revealed a small black dot, likely due to an improperly sealed filling, which they corrected, resolving his pain. I am extremely disappointed that we had to seek care elsewhere, reflecting poorly on the dentist and staff at this location. I have terminated our patient status at Gateway Commons and will return to the Louisburg Road office.
