Negative experience: I am very disappointed with this place. They do not stand by there work. I spent over a $1000.00 on a gold cap a couple months ago. I called them and went in to have them put it back and they wanted to charge me close to $600.00 to put it back. If they won't back up there work then I will go somewhere else. I have never heard of this type of billing. They just lost a good paying customer for greed.

Negative experience: Ever since this dentist fired his staff and he let AI take over answering his phones and doing the scheduling, it has been a NIGHTMARE trying to get through to his office.

Fantastic experience: Everyone was nice! The front desk girls and Dr. Philips were very attentive towards my needs. Big shoutout to Nicole for doing my cleaning, she was very friendly and did such a good job

Negative experience: I don’t usually bother to write a review, but Ukiah Dental Dentist has the worst customer service. They opt for communication via text only, which would be ok if they knew how to operate the system. It is near impossible to reschedule an appointment. I have a string of text over 6 weeks with no resolution.

Fantastic experience: 9/9/25 The care continues! Had a great cleaning, my hygienist was lovely and very understanding of my sensitivity and ticklishness of my soft tissues on the roof of my mouth. The vibration of the tools cause it. She gave me breaks and that helped a lot! Everybody there makes a great team! 4/23/2024 UPDATE! It's been 22 months since I've been to the office. Due to my circumstances, between having Covid, RSV, and 4 bouts of shingles... Thursday 4/18/2024 I broke a front top right tooth, #8. Monday 4/22/2024 they worked me in to be seen on their lunch time!!! Well, Dr Phillips is still a wonderful caring dental practitioner!!! He truly makes a patient feel like he's there to support your dental cares and needs. Because he is!!! His office team are equally conscientious and kind and are a real pleasure to work with. You will not be disappointed. ORIGIONAL REVIEW: It was my first visit. I really enjoyed the staff and meeting Dr Phillip's! He seems so knowledgeable and was super informative. I'm one who likes to be educated on what my body is doing. It helps deal with what needs cared for. So, I'm looking forward to being cared for by this new to me Dental team.

Fantastic experience: My experience in the office I give an A+ the waiting room is beautifully decorated with lovely music in the background. The front desk assistant was very kind and polite with a smile. Didn’t wait too long to see the Dr. He also was polite and kind, reminded me of my childhood dentist. Seems like he has a lot of experience and wisdom. I was recommended by a friend to see him. They say he is the best dentist in Ukiah/willits area

Positive experience: The dentist and staff were all kind. The only issue I feel can be improved was their wait time. I had an appt scheduled for 4PM and I arrived at said time, but wasn’t seen by the dentist until 5PM. It’s very unfortunate to have an appt and then be made to wait that long. I was waiting in the sitting area for 30 min before they took me in the back & the X-rays were quick, taken within 10 min so I did a lot of waiting after that as well. I didn’t leave until after 5:30PM which I don’t think is right because the whole appt should have been no more than 1 hr. Also, if everyone could be on the same page when making appts. Since I’m a new pt I was told initially only new patients are taken on Mondays, but then I was rescheduled (without a proper alert like a phone call to let me know) and they scheduled me for a Tuesday instead which contradicts what the initial person I spoke to had said.

Fantastic experience: New patient here, switched dentists because of insurance. Staff was great. Dr P is very knowledgeable and precise, both professional and personable. I liked that he appreciated my previous dental work and didn’t charge in with statements that I need revisions or new work. I trust that I’ll be well taken care of in the future.

Fantastic experience: Just had two visits recently with Dr. Phillips. I was very very impressed with his knowledge and the way he explained everything to me. He took the time to tell me all about My particular situation. Secondly my visit was for Cleaning,. She was very thorough and capable, also made some suggestions for future care of my teeth.

Negative experience: Not happy! I was told in’s. Covered exams/xrays & I need to bring $125 for tooth repair because appt listed as emergency. If it was emergency then why they charge me $100 & send me away. They didn’t fix anything, told me come back in 4 months & bring $1000. Dr. Was bumping around & rough handed. Office mgr, English not 1st language, talked friendly & nice but fast talking, & confusing to me why I need to spend all this money, everybody’s rushing, kept me there 1.5 hours & didn’t fix the tooth & don’t accept any other insurance & don’t accept care credit.

Positive experience: My last experience was good. Dr Phillips has had to overcome a number of significant obstacles to repair the damage. He is doing his very best to give me the best long term options despite the difficulties. I appreciate him caring about all aspects of my care. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

I had neglected my dental health and put off dental appointments for far too long due to negative past experiences when I was young. Dr. Phillips and his friendly staff welcomed me with kindness and understanding. Despite the busy end of the year rush Dr. Phillips prioritized seeing me and even squeezed me in for a dental procedure the following day. He spoke to me directly about my treatment plan and explained everything to me clearly. He has been more than fair regarding insurance, co- pays and payment plan options. Dr Phillips saw me during a medical situation after I had surgery. He knew exactly how to treat the situation and he listened and explained everything. I have a low threshold for pain, and I have had several appointments for different issues. THEY ARE ATTENTIVE, PROFESSIONAL, and KIND! I never knew a trip to the dentist could be so pleasant . I cannot recommend them any higher than if you are looking for excellence in Dental Care, this is the place!

Ukiah Dental conducted the exams and referred me to a specialist. I came back to Ukiah dental for follow up treatment and a cleaning. Negative experience: I went for my triennial cleaning and following the cleaning I was told that the dentist is no longer accepting my delta dental USA plan. Over the past 11 years that I was at this office, the dentist said numerous times that the government plan that I had was very good but no so good for him. I am very disappointed that he canceled the plan. Good luck to him and his office

Negative experience: As I sit here in a great deal of pain. I'm overwhelmed with anger. Many years ago I saw doctors Phillips and he told me he was replacing old fillings with enamel colored fillings. I've since, and painfully found he in fact just encapsulated my old fillings without removing the old ones or any decay. I'm now having to have another 3 teeth pulled because I can't afford root canals or implants. I was making payments to his office, I luckily have proof I had paid it down to a certain amount, his office sent me to collections for a higher amount!! Not only am I out all the money I paid him to further ruin my teeth. I'm now in more debt trying to fix all the damage he caused. My daughter was also a patient of his and has had to have all the work he did on her redone as well. I'm in so much pain I can't work or think straight most of the time. And I'm quoted 450 OR MORE PER TOOTH TO HAVE THEM PULLED BECAUSE I WAS MISLEAD AND CONNED. Not okay.

Fantastic experience: As of last Tuesday, I was a brand new client who became an instant patient, having transferred to the office of Dr. Richard Phillips D.D.S., after receiving no response from the dental office to which I was previously assigned. I can't speak highly enough of Dr. Phillips and his staff! I couldn't have shown up at a busier time - the Tuesday before Christmas - with a dental emergency, no less. Yet an appointment was booked for me that very afternoon for an exam and consultation, and by the end of Thursday I'd had a full set of x-rays taken, a teeth-cleaning, a tooth extracted by an oral surgeon (a referral arranged by Dr. Phillips), another consultation with Dr. Phillips, and two additional appointments set! At a time when one could readily understand and excuse haste and brusqueness, neither was on display in Dr. Phillips office! Dr. Phillips and his staff are unfailingly professional, patient, polite, and friendly, and I immediately felt at ease! The exams and consultations are thorough, the procedures are clearly explained in advance and carried out with gentle proficiency and skill, and cost estimates are provided without having to ask! Were there 100 stars to give, I'd gratefully award them!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Phillips has done excellent work on me for several years, and at reasonable prices. A few times he has anticipated dental problems and fixed them before they escalated and caused serious damage. He has quickly worked me in to his busy schedule several times when I had minor emergencies. His dental hygienists have done good work. Unfortunately, there are often long waits on the day of my appointments, so I make sure to budget extra time, even when I show up for cleanings or dental work on time. I rate his dental work as excellent, and believe me, I have been to a lot of dentists over the years!
