Fantastic experience: I have never had a better dentist. Eleven years ago, when my wife and I moved from Greenwich to West Haven upon retirement, I asked my GP for the best dentist in the New Haven area. He immediately answered Gregory Schmitt. He was absolutely correct. Speaking as a performer on multiple woodwind instruments, I can now say that I am an excellent hands when it comes to treating dental problems. For example, I recently had the misfortune to need two extractions. Dr. Schmitt accomplished this with minimal discomfort along with his usual kindness and gentleness (if that’s a word one can use to describe an extraction). His office staff is also excellent managing to cope with the complexities of various dental plans. I recommend him to anyone! All these years later, Dr. Schmitt and his assistants remain the very best dentistry I have ever had.

Fantastic experience: Very rarely do I write reviews for anything, but I had such a wonderful experience at my new dentist’s office, I felt obligated to share my experience, when I first stepped into the chair and they began working, I could tell immediately that his dental assistant and him must have worked tandem for a while, they were totally in sync as they began their work, you could tell instantly that they respected one another which is a rare in today's workforce. A little information on the work that needed to be done, now keep in mind, I had been unemployed for a while and on Husky Dental Insurance for a while, but fortunately I am employed now and now have Anthem Dental Insurance. When I was doing well as far as dental insurance about 10 years ago, I worked for the State of Connecticut and had great dental insurance and had a secondary plan too which was the US Military Insurance – Tricare. I never missed my regular cleanings and even had my four front upper teeth replaced with Porcelain Veneers, my new smile looked great, and I was thankful that I could afford it at the time. Then I became unemployed, and my teeth fell by the wayside. Two months ago, I had an emergency visit to the dentist and was told my tooth needed to pulled and there was no option of saving it, it was removed, it felt like a piece of me was amputated, and for the first time in a long time a tear fell down my face, my smile was now tarnished with this huge gap and stained teeth. My new dentist said, “You need a lot of work” where should we start he asked, I told him to now fix the teeth that I have, and we will deal with the bridge later as I did not want to lose any more of my teeth. He agreed, and Tuesday I had five fillings done, three hours with my mouth wide open, and within that time, he somehow managed to clean up the original veneers that had been stained, and scraped off some plaque from two other top front teeth. The reason for so many cavities is because yes, I was lackadaisical about brushing before bed and I barely flossed, but real culprit was the medication that I take daily for ADHD that medicine dries out my mouth, which causes decay. At the end of the visit. He handed me the mirror to look at his masterpiece, and wouldn’t you know, there was my smile again, I was ecstatic, I couldn’t believe it, he did it, I had my smile back. Dr. Gregory J. Schmitt must be the most non-judgmental dentist/doctor I have ever met, a true master at his craft, thank you Dr. Gregory J. Schmitt, I am forever grateful for your expertise in dentistry and your friendly disposition. As you all guessed it--this is a five star rating.

His hygienists ‘ carefully screened and cleaned my soft teeth which are uneven and full of hard to reach spots. Since he has been my dentist I have had only one major dental repair. Consistency and meticulous work is what I have come to expect at his office.
