Fantastic experience: I have dental anxiety - well I did have dental anxiety - after not going to the dentist for a while. They made me feel welcome, comfortable and did an incredible job. Not only that, but my dental anxiety vanished about 20 minutes in as they reassured me. We even had our 2.5 year old get checked up right after and they did an amazing job with her too! Highly recommend. My wife was right. Ugh.

Negative experience: Kiene Dental Group recently got new office decor. It's up to you to decide if you want to support this. This is new. I have been in this room multiple times and it wasn't there. If it had been I would have never been back.

I just had two more replaced, still outstanding service and care. Update: I have more Dental work that needs to be done and I have no worries because these people are professional and caring.

Negative experience: I had a dental appointment today here at the Shawnee mission location. The first time was just one week prior. I was told there was a problem with my insurance. So I got in touch with HR at my job. Everything was fixed. And I had got my information corrected. So today's appointment should be ok. Wrong!! So I get I'm on the back and the assistant is got me back there taking the. images of my mouth. And here comes the representative who in charge insurance in and she talking in an outside voice sitting right in front of me and she's telling me that she doesn't know if (I have Atena BRMS)if this is in their network. She begins to say that she doesn't know what that is. I said you don't? Still continuing with her outside voice like she's at a ball park. And every patient and dental assistant could hear what she's saying to me... I felt so humiliated. So, I left. Long story short, I called because she stated no one answered the phone. I was placed on hold. Due to high volume of calls. She didn't want to wait on the phone. I also found out that they are in my network of dental group. She made me feel a certain kind of way because of the color of my skin. There was no one else like me in this dental group. Like I would lie about insurance. I would not have made the appointment if I didn't have insurance. The receptionist was pleasant as well as the dental assistant. I will not return to any of these locations after being insulted and all the patients hearing about the issue which wasn't an issue at all. I hope nothing will be charged to me. Or my insurance. She should be fired....

Negative experience: I went here for several years and absolutely loved them. I brought my husband over and started my toddler here. Last Feb I needed to cancel my appointment due to illness. They told me the next available appointment wasn’t until end of September! That’s 7 months later, when I should be going every 6 months anyway. However, when I called posing as a new patient they could get me in next week. Horrible to treat an existing customer like that.

Fantastic experience: I used to hate going to the dentist. Then I found Kiene Dental Group. What a difference!!! Everyone is so friendly and they put you at ease. If something needs corrected, they do not pressure you. It is your decision if you want to fix what needs attention. I would recommend anyone that is looking for a dentist to give Kiene Dental Group a call.

Negative experience: I work in dentistry and have for going on 12 years.. from back to management. I’ve had 3 visits with this practice, 1st and 2nd visits were great. Love Dr Kiene himself. 3rd visit, I was quoted treatment & signed off on it & PAID IN FULL almost immediately.. Melissa the treatment coordinator is BEYOND unprofessional. Christy the office manager is also BEYOND unprofessional. Sad to see a great practice with great potential & an awesome Dr have patients ran out by terrible staff. After everything was paid for in full.. and confirmed. I received multiple calls one after another from them (Melissa and Christy) adding fees to the treatment plan that we already agreed to / signed and paid for & then whenever I refused because there was no need and we already agreed to the treatment plan, they “dismissed” me as a patient. They were playing games with refunding me.. I wouldn’t recommend to anyone. The way I was spoken to was like I was trash on the ground. Sad to see a practice treating patients like this!!

Negative experience: Back when I was in school this dentist destroyed my mouth, somehow I always had a bunch of cavities every 3 months. Now when I bite down my jaw never sits comfortably. Got suspicious after the 4th time so I went to another dentist and didn’t mention Kiene said I needed more fillings done. They didn’t say anything about needing filling and when I asked about it they told me my mouth looked fine and it sounded like they were just trying to do unnecessary work.

Fantastic experience: Everyone at this clinic is amazing! Dental issues can be very scary and make one feel vulnerable, but no one here has ever made me feel guilty or embarrassed about anything. Both clinical staff and scheduling/billing personnel are willing to take the time to find the best solutions for your situation. I highly recommend Kiene Dental Group!

Negative experience: First, the Olathe Office has a great receptionist, and 2 dental assistants, and the finance lady is nice. I began with implants and the overdenture and a new upper denture on October 12, 2024. The worst part is Dr. KIENE is only in the Olathe Office every other week, which really slows things down, making the process take twice as long as I was not allowed to go to the Shawnee Office. The overdenture did not fit properly from the beginning, but that was sort of resolved. The implants healed well and are secured pretty well now. BUT, one year later I have had to find a new dentist for my upper appliance after three failed attempts and one year of trying to get it right here. Two of the dentures would not even let me close my mouth. So if you are looking for implants that is okay, but the rest I would not recommend using this practice. (They did refund my out of pocket on the upper, but am trying to get the insurance to replace it because a claim was filed.)

Negative experience: I truly believe I have a lot of unnecessary dental work in my mouth. Every time I would go back, they would tell me I needed for work. I was over it!! I went to a different dentist, in fact I have seen two different dentist and an orthodontist who have all told me my teeth are fine and look good. that is not what Kiene dental group told me. Please get 2nd or even 3rd opinions before letting them work in your mouth!!

Negative experience: The dentists and clinical stuff are great. The billing/insurance department doesn’t function well. I had a crown yesterday and expected to pay some up front. Initially, they said I would need nearly $770, so I called and then, in writing, I received an email saying my share was $629. Then, upon checking out, they wanted $850! It’s like they just make up numbers. I don’t understand this although Kristy, Office Manager, was very pleasant to deal with. Hits me as suspicious. My friend has also had a similar experience with them.

Fantastic experience: The staff at the dental clinic are extremely professional. Since I only go twice a year, I would recommend the dental clinic to all our friends.

Negative experience: I would not recommend this company at all. I had some work done 2 years ago, my insurance didn’t cover major dental until after a year so I went on a payment plan. After a couple of payments they said they sent the bill to insurance and I didn’t need to continue paying. Conveniently 2 years later they randomly start sending me messages again claiming I need to make a payment to my account.

Negative experience: Do not recommend. Overpriced in the first place. Then sent us an unexpected bill after 2 years (may 2023 was the last visit) because their system had a glitch and never notified us of anything due. Took over 2 years to notify us but only gave a couple of months to pay before they send to collections. As if my family is not already drowning in this crap economy. Honestly so frustrating.

Negative experience: Does not have an after hours contact for issues that arise after a procedure. With the limited hours of the office you may have to wait three days by that time you will have had to find alternative resolution or just suffer thru it. We had a medication prescribed to us and the office could not properly fill out the prescription, and with no ability to contact them due to the limited hours, we were unable to get it filled.

Fantastic experience: They take great care of my family, and I refer them to others, which is the best review of a service.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend the Kiene Dental Group. I had recently had a root canal and they were able to quickly get me in for a crown. They exceeded my expectations from the start. They were kind and helpful at every step - including dealing with my insurance. The dentist was patient and caring - and of course very knowledgeable. Another unexpected plus was that they create the crown right there while you wait. I would definitely go back for future dental work.

Negative experience: My long-time dentist sold his practice, and the new owner was not on my dental plan. I researched for weeks before choosing Kiene Dental Group, which had good reviews and was close to home. My first cleaning with Dr Howe was in Nov of 2023. I was pleased with his work and that of the dental hygienist. I had subsequent work done in Nov. and Dec. 2023. At the end of each visit, they calculated the amount I would owe after my dental insurance paid their portion, and I paid that amount in full. This is the first time in my life (70+ yrs) I have ever been asked to pay before the insurance has paid, but I figured times change. Then in Feb. 2024, I received the Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from my dental insurance and was surprised to see that the amount they calculated I owe after their payment was far less than what I paid. I overpaid $352.55 to be exact! How can the calculations from the dental office be so far off when this is what they do on a daily basis? I called Kiene Dental and asked them to check into the matter. Several calls later and little response, I finally asked to speak with the account manager. Kristy (Kerstin) said she would investigate the matter, but eventually decided she would only communicate with me in the future through email. That was April 4th. I straightened out one problem with billing they could have easily solved by simply making a phone call. I sent Kristy copies of EOB and payment she requested several times, to no avail. I have not received any communication or explanation from her since, nor have I received my overpayment of $352.55. I called my dental insurance, explained the situation, and sent them the same paperwork to look at to make sure I wasn’t mistaken. They assured me Keine Dental had overcharged me. The agent and I placed a 3-way call to Kristy twice, but she never answered or returned the messages left by the agent. At my last cleaning in Dec. 2024 (I only went because I know my insurance pays for cleanings in full), I told the hygienist and Dr. Howe why I would not be back and explained why. They both said they had no knowledge of anything to do with the accounts. That part I understand, but the calmness and lack of concern over the situation was a bit surprising. Dr. Howe said he would gladly send my dental records to my new dentist and would pass along the reason for my departure, I assumed to someone in charge. If he followed through, that too has elicited no response. So, I will be looking for a new dentist. In the future, I plan to pay only a portion of the full amount up front. My advice: if you use dental insurance at Kiene Dental Group don’t pay the full amount they request, because if you overpay you probably won’t get your money back.

Negative experience: Horrible, horrible, corrupt company, malpracticed on my family member and would not accept any sort of liability and refused to give new dentist our paperwork. Our new dentist and others we have met with have never heard of such a terrible practice before. Truly a shocking experience, please never bring anyone you care about here unless you want immense pain and terrible service with ZERO sympathy or responsibility. Not to mention the dentists here have no proper experience. It's times like these that I am so thankful for freedom of speech so that I can warn others and potentially save you from having to go through this terrible place.

Negative experience: If you are looking at this office for a new dentist, please find another location. The first time I came to the office, it was to do a filling. The hygienists were behind the room I was in, talking badly about my dental health and being completely unprofessional, I left in tears. After speaking with a member of office staff, I agreed to finish the filling and return. I attempted to book an appointment today because I had to cancel my last appointment. Due to not telling them, they asked for prepayment. I didn't show up to my appointment due to my son being attacked at his school that day and in an emergency, I wasn't thinking about calling them. This office has shown me twice they have no empathy and lack professionalism.

Fantastic experience: I have been to a few dentists, some good and some not so good. My current dentist retired and then my tooth broke. Kiene Dental got me in right away and fix it. After that visit I have been back and they are my new team! Everyone is great at the office, I am very happy with the Kiene Dental Group.

Negative experience: Overall, just very frustrated with Kiene Dental. I'm not giving them a 1 star because i really appreciated my hygienist that cleaned my teeth. She was thorough, smart and nice overall. After that, brutal experience. The office was not as efficient as i thought it would've been for such a large dentist office, i sat waiting for the dentist for 30 minutes and he still never showed up. I ended up leaving before the dentist exam (with the offices permission) because i couldn't wait any longer, the office called me 20 minutes later saying I should've never left and needed to come back for the exam. I ended up going back the following week, where the dentist proceeded to tell me i had 2 cavities but couldn't point them out clearly on the X-ray. They wanted to charge me $300 after insurance for this, for what? He couldn't even show me on the X-ray where the cavities were. And lastly? This is really irrelevant to the actual dental services but you'd be frustrated about it too i'm sure. They proceeded to offer me an Andys gift card to make up for the issues of waiting and having to come back, when i went to Andys, it wasn't even a gift card! It was a random loyalty card that didn't even work lol. I'm sorry Kiene, but this was a really below average service experience I had.

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience, everyone was friendly and knowledgeable. I see Dr Bryce in Lee Summit and travel to this location for my dental implants , and I receive the same great customer service in this office as I do in Lee Summit office . I appreciate be welcomed as soon as I walk in the door of the office . Keep up the good work! Customer service is 100% here !

Fantastic experience: This practice is very service oriented. Today they worked me in for a dental emergency, spending a lot of time with me but never acted like they had patients waiting.

Negative experience: Here is my honest opinion and experience at Kiene Dental, I called there needing a root canal in late January, they let me know that they didn’t do root canals on the tooth I needed done but told me of a place that did. I went to the recommended endo; they did a fantastic job so I thought I would go back Kiene dental because they had recommended me such a nice place. From the start of my appointment, I was nervous dental work is never fun. I let the doctor know I had sensitive teeth, the whole experience was pain beyond a normal crown I was in tears, I asked the doctor to numb the roof of my mouth and when a topical didn’t work the doctor said there wasn’t much they could do. I was in a lot of pain, but we continued, towards the end of my appointment the doctor completely stopped and left the room with the nurse. I was still in tears talking to my fiancé who had been present for the whole process when the office manger walk into the room telling us the doctor would not be finishing, they informed me that I might have been having a flare up, mind you I was still in terrible pain four or five nurses along with her were yelling questions at us and telling us we could not leave and we would have to sign forms, then it went to she couldn’t let us leave because my tooth would ger infected to I had to leave to go see an endo, the whole thing sent me into a Panic attack in the room. I begged to leave and just be done for the day I was in pain beyond belief, they would not let us leave and kept asking me to just take a walk and come back. I asked for a refund and to please just leave, they would not let us. In the end it was decided that they would give me a crown to take with me to the endo. The only appointment the endo had was 4 hours from us leaving so I sat in pain for hours after leaving, on the way to the endo hours after my appointment at Kiene the office manager called me and let me know if I took done my bad review that they would give me a “full refund of and dismiss me as a patient” at this point I was in the parking lot of the other doctor still in pain and told her I would need to think about it because it was an honest and truthful review of my experience and what happened. For weeks ( 2.29 2:19 pm/ 3.5 8:46am-9:29am / 2.28 9:25am/ 2.23 9:22am/ 2.12 11:15am/ 2.9 12:15pm.) now I have been trying to reach out to talk this office manger and have only gotten voicemail until today where I was met with lots of attuited and “ we won’t me giving more than $$$” because you didn’t take your review down until the 2/29”. Which I respond to with why I would take my review down if I haven’t been able to get a hold of you. This is a long review but necessary to explain and hopefully help people from having a similar experience, the Dentist should be a place where you don’t have anxiety attacks and incredible amounts of pain. I’m extremely disappointed with their approach to customer service and to patient health. The dishonesty of people in charge of care and helping you to feel your best is appalling.

Fantastic experience: I am normally very stressed going to a dentist because when I was young I had a bad dentist. Josh Kiene was so relaxed, calming, friendly, and explained every detail he was doing today. I had a crown and 2 fillings. I am so impressed how well he did even though my fillings were worse than he originally thought. I would recommend him 100%! Everyone is extremely nice in the office too!

Fantastic experience: All the staff is friendly and they ask about your preferences during the whole process, and explain what is going on the whole time. Best dentist I have been to, and they have delish flavors for the teeth cleaning.

Negative experience: I was a patient of Dr. Kiene's for the past 7ish years until recently. November 2023 I had to cancel a cleaning for a serious family emergency. I called back to reschedule and was told I couldn't get in until the new year. I couldn't wait that long. I called the beginning of the new year and was transferred to the hygienist for scheduling and then was proceeded to be put on hold for over 10 minutes. I tried calling back a few weeks later and the same thing happened. They never even came to the phone to schedule... It was very out of character... Today I get a text informing me that I'm 90 days over due for my cleaning. I was told I could be accommodated at an appointment in March... or not until the END OF MAY. They used to be great at accommodating their patients, especially with emergencies. But the customer service I've received has been so bad. I suspect there has been a lot of turnover. I'm looking for a new practice because I don't have time for the craziness. Dr. Kiene is wonderful and has always done great work for me. But the scheduling for teeth cleanings is insane now and it really shouldn't be this much of a pain.

Negative experience: I never had dental problems until I started going to this dentistry. They told me I needed to get all this work done, so I listened to them, spent a lot of money, and now I have constant problems with the crowns they gave me. Just make sure you get a second opinion before jumping on the “everything needs to be replaced” bandwagon. My original teeth were more reliable. But in a positive and informed manner, they used every health insurance and then they sent me to another doctor to correct the mistake that the doctor made, and I paid money to another doctor.

Negative experience: I don’t Recommended this place. The scam me. Did my crown and couple days my teeth get infected. When. I get back the day. O sorry was accident When. I get my bill. The charge me twice. When. I get back say was system. Not us

Fantastic experience: They were amazing and managed to get me in next day after a crown on my front tooth cracked. Dr. Howe did a great job and the staff was awesome!

Positive experience: I was thrilled with the gentle way I was treated. No cringing in my chair from harsh scraping or poking from the dental hygienist. Was sorry to leave my old dentist, but Kiene Dental Group is great!

Negative experience: Called 3 times in the span of a couple of weeks and had to leave a message with no return call. Two for cleaning mailbox and one for general mailbox. I was a returning patient but forget it. 3 strikes and you’re out.

Fantastic experience: Everyone in this practice is very friendly. I felt very comfortable with the hygienist, she explained everything she did, Dr. Kiene was thorough and answered all my questions. I have experienced other dental practices that are high pressure to have fillings replaced, crowns replaced, whatever up-sell they can think of. None of that here, which I appreciate and respect.

Fantastic experience: Awesome adventure!! I needed a crown, so I assumed it would be the usual 2 appointments to get it completed. I walked in at 2pm and walked out at 4pm with my crown. My dentist and his assistant were wonderful, kind and explained everything that was being done.

Explains everything until you understand treatment and timeline. Christine takes all the time necessary to make sure you have a plan to pay for treatment that works for you. I loved my dentist in Lawrence and was concerned I wasn't going to find one that I liked as much. He and his staff are great! They are very thorough while being personable. Fantastic experience: Absolutely 100% true 5 star! If you are looking for top notch treatment. This is it folks. 1.) I was able to get in to my appointment as a new patient through an opening by checking the online scheduling portal. Keep in mind I had scheduled this same day with in a 2-hour time frame of the appointment. 2.) All team members were pleasant and informative before, during, and after the appointment. 3.) Dr. Piper and his assistant Gina did some outstanding work, and kept me in the loop throughout the duration of the procedure. Along with Stephanie, who explained all of the forms and payment options. In addition, keeping in contact to insure all of the information was completed to make the experience seamless. Overall top to bottom great experience!

Fantastic experience: Kiene dental group has helped me over come my severe anxiety about going to the dentist. Everyone from the office managers to the hygienist,Taylor, makes my visits stress free. Taylor is constantly checking with me during my appointment to see how I'm doing and if I am comfortable or if I'm feeling anxious. The fact that they offer nitrous oxide for procedures like fillings, crowns etc, is what made me first come to Kiene Dental. The amazing care of my teeth as well as my emotional well being is what keeps me coming back .

Fantastic experience: Dr. Piper and his assistant Nina went above and beyond yesterday to fit my new crown, and with my extreme sensitivity, took a lot more time than is typically needed to make it fit perfectly while keeping me comfortable. Fantastic experience: I have been with KDG since I was a child. I have recently moved to Texas and I STILL drive back for my cleanings. They continue to take care of my teeth, from simple cleanings to veneers. I won’t trust anyone else with my smile :)

Fantastic experience: We hadn't established a new dentist since we moved to town and it's always hard to know where to go. A neighbor recommended Kiene Dental and I'm so glad they had appointments available that weren't months away. Everyone from the front desk and billing to the hygienists and the dentists themselves were all so cheerful and pleasant. My kids saw Dr. Piper and really liked him. My youngest wanted to go back the next day. I saw Dr. Kiene and I have never had a dentist spend so much time explaining things and answering questions. It was a great experience for the whole family.

Fantastic experience: I have worn braces as an adult, and had other major dental work done. I was absolutely blow away, by the professionalism of the staff. The technology of the x-rays, 360 scan and bitewing/pictures of each and every tooth put me into reality with what absence from dental care had caused. They have plans for individuals who do not have dental insurance. I signed up! I also did the Teeth whitening for life! Love them!

Fantastic experience: From the employees at the front desk to the nurse and hygienists, everyone was so warm and welcoming. Dr. Kiene took time to show me my X-rays and explain what he was seeing and the reasoning behind his recommendations, more than I’ve had from any dentist I’ve ever been to. They broke down exactly what my insurance covered and what I was responsible for paying before I agreed to treatment. The offices were very clean and new. Highly recommend!!

Fantastic experience: All the staff at Kiene Dental are very kind and helpful with answering questions as well as educating/talking clients through any process you may have done! The receptionist are fast at getting you scheduled also happy to work around what you have going on. Facility is honestly the cleanest dentist office I have seen and been in. Billing is very reasonable and understanding with working with payment plans when you may find an unexpected cavity or other issues. The dentist and dental hygienist have spectacular bed side manner skills, very educated in their field of work, and I believe should take pride in all services they provide. All around excellent care!

Fantastic experience: The staff were really friendly and easy going. I enjoyed my experience here, to the front desk with the receptionist too every single person I spoke too. My daughter loved it , couldn’t stop smiling . They treated me with respect and explained everything so I knew exactly what was happening at every single moment . Fantastic experience: Is it possible to love everything about a dental office??? I mean, as a new patient at Kiene Dental, the staff (and I mean EVERYONE I met) had me feeling right at home. Usually, I'm full of trepidation going to the Dentist so it's funny how I left feeling really, REALLY happy! What the heck was I worried about again? Fantastic experience: Big thank you to Dr. Piper and Gina! After years of not going to a regular dentist or having a bad experience I had to find someone due to dental pain. They got me in the same day for an exam and scheduled for oral surgery. After explaining my high anxiety they did everything they could to calm me and they did a fabulous job. I have found my dentist and could not be happier.
