Fantastic experience: Going to the dentist can be a daunting task and put people in an uneasy state of mind. But we found that not to be the case with Dr. Mora he has seen my whole family and nobody gets anxious. Going to see the dentist. It’s so nice when you can have a dentist make you feel at ease the way he’s able to joke around with the kids and make them laugh. Just put everybody in a peaceful state. We are truly grateful.

Fantastic experience: I have been a patient with Dr Hagstrom for over 25 years and have nothing but praise for him and his office staff. I’ve always been taken well care of and don’t feel like a number when I go there, they treat me like a person and they know my name. Also Dr. Hagstrom utilizes the latest in dental technology, and I’m always amazed with all the computers and 3-D models he uses to create the best dental service around. Negative experience: Spent roughly $20,000 on dental work over 4 years, 100% of it has needed to be redone since then. Pros: They offer sedation dentistry They are very professional They made me feel comfortable They have very modern tech Cons: All of the 9 root canals/crowns a shop for smiles put in failed within four years. You could say maybe its my fault because my teeth are made of butter but in that case why did they keep doing something that was failing. Their prices are very high. I had some bad fever dreams post sedation for a few weeks One time after sedation my gum was cut really badly, it took three weeks to heal They refused to refund or redo their work (I paid for three redos through them before finding a new dentist who has done two more. I have four still pending that i need to find a specialist for because its really hard to get endo retreatment) Their hygienist always cut my gums when flossing. I have very tight teeth and floss four or five times a day and never cut my gums, she didnt stop doing it after I commented multiple times on it.

On my first visit they did a more through job than any other dental office Ive ever visited and made sure I had input and was comfortable with my treatment plan. Fantastic experience: My mistake was for even leaving this practice. I came in hoping that they would help me with my lost filling. They took me in and I had a thorough exam and took me in because they have a crown making machine on site. So same day service! The best dentists ever!

Fantastic experience: We are new to A Shop for Smiles. My 10 year old has been here 3 times now for her check ups and minor cavity work. Everyone has been extremely nice, gentle and informative with how the visits will go. They aren't a pediatric dental facility specifically but they are 100% equipped to handle children. My daughter has had pleasant experiences all 3 times. They make sure to explain everything to her and answer all her questions. She gets to choose a prize from their prize box and they send her home with dental care and mini chapsticks so she has looked forward to those special extras. The dental office is warm, calm and inviting. Its very coastal themed. All employees have been great and Dr. Hagstrom has been great. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: I have had sedation dentistry at this office that when amazing! But i get my cleanings done awake as well as my last dental work. I needed. I had teeth built up and a scan of a mouth guard. The Novocain went well as did the procedure. The staff made sure I was comfortable during all the treatment. This office is perfect!

Fantastic experience: Just had a root canal done on a tooth that was very decayed and needed some gum removal and I have to say I was very blown away with how pleasant the experience was. I get very nervous before procedures like this because of painful, past experiences at other dentists; However I felt virtually no pain during the procedure and only very mild (2/10) pain for a couple hours after which was relieved by Tylenol/ibuprofin. Great team here at A Shop for Smiles and I won’t be changing dentists as long as I’m in San Diego!

Fantastic experience: I appreciate the kindness and nonjudgmental feeling I get when sharing my previous traumatic experiences. Everyone always shared the what and why before doing anything which make me feel comfortable. The little things like chapstick and aromatic candles give the place a calm atmosphere. I also appreciate how the staff interact with one another, always saying please and thank you to one another in person and over their communication devices. This has been the most comfortable I’ve ever felt at a dentist office.

Negative experience: Save your money!! Don’t come here!!! They did a 50 dollar exam for 352$ dollars! they said my husbands insurance didn’t cover him when it did but they wanted out of pocket money and they said we had to pay close to a 1000 dollars! I had a weird feeling about them so we absolutely did not make another appointment we went to Endodontist JACK PAWLAK, DDS & CRAIG DEAGLE, DMD they took my husbands insurance right away did everything the same day! And did not want extra money from us It’s so sad that the Dentist industry is such a scam they aren’t sincere anymore!

Fantastic experience: I visited A Shop For Smiles for a dental appointment as a first time customer and was impressed with the friendly staff and the attention to detail about every aspect of dental health. A very pleasant experience indeed.

Fantastic experience: I called A Shop for Smile’s office, as a new patient, with a dental emergency on a Monday morning. I had a serious injury involving a fractured and chipped front tooth and Dr. Hagstrom was recommended by a friend with a similar problem. I was very concerned about the future appearance of such a visible tooth. From the beginning, they were very understanding and empathetic and they worked me in that same day. I was fully prepared for a painful, invasive and very expensive visit, but willing to accept all of that because I was more afraid of a disfigured and dysfunctional front tooth. The entire staff went above and beyond to calm me down and keep me comfortable up. I was given several options for pain management from very minor numbing to light-mid sedation. I initially opted to come back for as much sedation as possible, but after being there and indirectly observing the other procedures and noting the upbeat demeanors of the other patients, I felt comfortable enough to go through with the complete repair of my tooth that day. Dr. Hagstrom and his staff did a great job. Discomfort was minimal and my tooth looks better than it did before and is fully functional. Michele in the front office worked very quickly with my insurance, keeping me up to date, answering my questions and working out a reasonable financial plan that I could manage. This was one of the most traumatic dental conditions I’ve ever had treated and it turned out to be one of the positive dental encounters I can remember.

Negative experience: I chipped my front tooth and decided to go to Dr. Hagstrom for Composite Bonding. It took three visits before he got it looking decent enough to where we were both happy with it. Unfortunately, it seems he didn't use dividers to protect the teeth on either side of my chipped tooth during the shaping/ polishing process resulting in damage to my porcelain crown (lateral incisor), which is now scratched and rough, and there's a scratch/ line on my other front tooth. Also, he made the incisal edges of the bonded tooth very thin, it feels sharp and developed minor chipping at the bottom on the first night of getting it done. I reached out to him about this, at first he told me he could add more composite but when I went in he just polished it down more. He then had me sign a paper saying that the treatment was done and I could not return to the office or contact him directly anymore. My bonded tooth was sensitive weeks after the treatment, I was desperate for answers as to why it might still be sensitive and If it's something I should worry about. So instead of contacting Dr. Hagstrom directly I called/ emailed the office manager Mary and she was extremely cold and callous. I paid a good amount of money and ultimately feel let down, being essentially banned from A Shop for Smiles without being able to go back to get the thin, sharp incisal edge fixed, figure out/ fix the sensitivity in the bonded tooth or any touch ups that may have been needed.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Hagstrom has been our family dentist for about three decades. He has always been very capable and conscientious as well as a caring professional. I highly recommend him as a dentist that will keep close tabs on your dental health and provide whatever services you might need along the way.

Fantastic experience: A Shop For Smiles is a GREAT place. I went to A Shop For Smiles to see if I could get my teeth straightened. I’m in my seventies and thought I would be too old for braces. Dr. Hagstrom was sensitive to what I wanted and thought I would be a good candidate for Invisalign, (kinda like clear braces) Within a week the Invisalign system arrived, I was instructed how to use them, which is very easy. Dr. Hagstrom and his staff are super friendly and welcoming. A Shop For Smiles is now my new dental office.

Filling out the required health paperwork was easy and done online so I didn't have to get there early. I really liked that alot. I was surprised at the depth of photos and x-rays though. It really does make alot of sence because before Dr Haggstrom looked into my mouth. He had identified my issues, even before I could fully explain them myself. Wow! I Never had that happen before. Anyway about it I needed some serious help and I believe I will get it here. In fact I know I will because now I have a plan. Trust is earned! My first vist was a nice start!

Fantastic experience: Before coming to this dentist office I would put off dental visits being aftaid of the pain and jusgement. Thiswould result in more and more neglect caused problems. Now when I go to theis dentist I know I will be greeted with a family atmosphere and dental procedures that are carefully done so as not to cause any unnecessary pain. And on the more extensive longer procedures I always go with sedation dentistry leaving me feeling like I took a long restful nap. Thank you for the wonderful care you give me each and every visit.

Fantastic experience: I just had my first appointment at a shop for smiles yesterday and I can say that I am very happy with my visit! I haven’t been to the dentist since I moved here and I was really nervous about finding a new dentist that I would like. The staff is extremely nice and even worked with me when I was almost 30 minutes late to my first appointment. When I got there they immediately gave me a tour of the entire office which is something I have never done before and also offered me coffee and water! I loved Dr. Hagstrom he was very nice and also honest which I appreciate! Will definitely be recommending friends to this office!

Fantastic experience: Because of the staff at A shop for smiles is the reason, my dental anxiety has gotten less and less. Even as an adult I have always needed someone to go with me to the dentist. Now I can go alone and not feel like throwing up or passing out. Mary, hygienist, is amazing and very knowledgeable. She makes me so comfortable and she lets me stop and breathe throughout my cleanings. She also explains everything step by step. Michelle at the desk is always welcoming and treats me like one of her own which calms me down. She has even held my leg during a procedure when I was scared. The dental assistants are such a key factor in my ability to return. Without their kindness, professional manor and their ability to make me laugh and not think I'm at the dentist I look forward to seeing them. And of course Dr. Hagstrom is the best dentist I have ever seen. He is so knowledgeable and never makes me feel that any concern, big or small, is important. I will never change dentists again.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Hagstorm is the finest dentist you will ever meet. He is kind, compassionate, and gentle. Shop for smiles with Dr. Hagstrom, and all his staff are warm and friendly. They do their best to make you feel as comfortable as possible throughout your visit. They even put chapstick on your lips. You will not find another dentist who can compare. Their office is welcoming, and the environment is homey. It is not like other sterol dentist offices you have been to before. My favorite part is their stained glass window of a unicorn.

This makes some of life’s most daunting tasks just a little bit bit better. Starting with the process itself, you are not only told what you’re doing wrong but educated to better invest in your health. After the procedure is everyone’s favorite part: payment. Remember, I said “ to better invest “ in your health. Dental work can be a bit pricey; but with awesome financing program and an amazing patient care coordinator, Michelle, who truly looks out for your best interest, you can breathe a little easy that fixing your teeth won’t cost an arm + leg. Overall, I’ll give Shop for smiles 10/10 for having a process down that makes being a client more comforting, patient, and caring than nerve - wrecking.
