Negative experience: Office staff is horribly rude. There are so many other better offices to use, avoid this place.

Negative experience: To start off my wife has Alzheimer’s. She has been going to Dr Pouchot for at least 15 years. We have appointments together so I can take her and also get my teeth cleaned. When we get to the office I am told that we need to do paperwork. I tell them that I will have to fill out the paperwork for my wife because of her condition. Then Mrs Pouchot steps in and asked if I have power of attorney over my wife and I explained that I did but didn’t have the paperwork with me because I was not asked to bring it. She said that they could not clean my wife’s teeth and would have to reschedule which would take another 6 to 8 months. I said since I was already there could I get my teeth clean since I had an appointment and taken my medication since I have knee replacement. I had to wait 30 minutes for my appointment time then I asked if my wife could come back with me. They said she could not so I asked the receptionist to keep an eye on her while I got my teeth cleaned and Mrs Pouchot said absolutely not that they were not a babysitting service and that I would need to have someone sit with her. If I had known all of this in advance everything would have been fine. No communication. Dr Pouchot said there is a shortage on hygienist right now. I don’t think there is a shortage. I think the problem is sitting right in his office. Take control of your business Dr Pouchot.

Fantastic experience: Dr.Pouchot is an excellent dentist who always makes sure everything is perfect before you leave. I've been going to him for over 10 years.

Negative experience: Went to Dr. Pouchot a few years ago, but I was recently reminded of my terrible experience there and decided I should share it. It's a long story, but I will highlight the main parts. Went to his office, they seemed nice enough, and Dr. Pouchot probably tried his best, but he gave my wife a filling and apparently didn't leave the surface even and she kept biting her inner cheek after that. We went back there and he denied that he did anything wrong, despite the obvious fact. He did try to fix it twice, but the problem persisted. Finally, we went to another dentist who looked at it for about 5 seconds, the spent another 2 minutes evening it out. After that it was just fine. Also, Dr. Pouchot told my wife that because she had two gaps (from teeth that were pulled years ago) the her back teeth were going to cave in and that she needed to put something in between them (can't remember the exact cost, but it was over $1000). The other dentist said that wasn't necessary and, years later, what Dr. Pouchot said would happen never did. Nice enough guy, just didn't have the expertise. Maybe he's better now, I sure hope so. UPDATE - RESPONSE TO DR. POUCHOT: I don't appreciate you dismissing our experience that you caused. My wife has a different last name (her culture's custom) than I do, so she is in your digital records. And, as mentioned above, you did try to address the issue, but were unable to. This was not "second hand info" as you said, I was there for every visit, I saw my wife in pain and discomfort for weeks, I saw her inner cheek repeatedly bitten and swollen, I saw you try to fix it, and I saw the other dentist fix it all in minutes. Yes, it was years ago, but I left the review because her pain and discomfort left a lasting impression, as did the fear we had at the time. I don't appreciate your dismissal of our experience. As I said, I'm sure you tried your best, and your many positive reviews leave me to assume that most of the time you do a decent job and are probably more skilled now, but her pain, discomfort and fear were real and were a direct outcome of her visit to your office, so I do not appreciate your blanket dismissal of our poor experience with you.

Negative experience: It’s no coincidence that almost all of the hygienists have quit. Pouchot seems to be a nice man, but that wife needs to be put in her place. Not only does she walk around barefoot, but she showed me her INFECTION on her foot as if I was a doctor. She is crazy!!

Negative experience: Dr. Pouchot is a very nice man and would recommend anyone to him but he really needs to have a talk with his wife she’s going to run all of his costumers away she’s very nasty I make all of my husbands Drs appointments I’m his wife but the hassle and the sarcastic attitude is very unprofessional we told her the insurance that we had she’s arguing us like we’re illiterate the I told her never mind we will find another dentist she called my phone back demanding to speak to my husband I told her have a blessed day and hung up Dr. if you’re reading this please have a talk with your wife please!!!

Negative experience: I have NO issue with the dentist. He was great. His wife has been terrible and should not work the front desk. My husband and I decided to establish care in December of last year. My teeth were in good shape and I scheduled my 6 month cleaning for June 17th. I couldnt remember at the time, but around may 9th My husband had an appt for dental work I asked him to confirm my appt in June and he told me I didn't have an appt. I NEVER cancel appts. So Pouchot's wife called me to reschedule. I asked her what she meant by reschedule. It should have never been canceled. She said that she has documentation that I called to cancel. I NEVER canceled it. My husband cancels appts because of his unpredictable schedule. I believe she confused him for me and canceled mine. Anyway, the earliest she could get me in was NOVEMBER! I took the appt and began looking for other dentists to get in sooner. I found an appt and called her to cancel and she had a nasty attitude about the cancelation and said "thank you for canceling so someone else can have it." I have been trying to get my records sent to the new dentist. They are needed to have my insurance cover my appt. I stopped by 10 mins before their lunch hour and the door was locked. I knocked on the door and she was sitting at the desk and didnt even acknowledge me. This was my first attempt at trying to get a form for my record release. With their business hours and my working hours it has been difficult trying to go there myself. My husband had an appt so I asked him to grab a form and she gave him a lot of push back and finally the dentist told her to just give him the form. Mind you, my husband is listed on my hippa form for record release. So I filled out the form and emailed it to her twice and texted it to her. The said they still havent received it. The lack of availability, response time, and delays are making me continue to push back my dentist appts. I believe they need to rethink the way they conduct their business. My new dentist was shocked that they still do records this way. I also think the front desk staff need more interpersonal skills and the ability to know when they have made a mistake instead of blaming the patient for something they didn't do.

Negative experience: Front office staff Melissa Pouchot sorely lacks in interpersonal and customer service skills. I have experienced numerous stressful interactions with her over what are routine transactions that any other office could have handled with ease. I addressed my concerns after numerous incidents and six months of being patient with her (our whole family attended this office) only to be disappointed that Dr. Pouchot was unable to separate his personal feelings towards his wife from what should be an objective evaluation of am employee. After 17 years of using this office, I decided to move on. Until the front office staff is replaced Pouchot dentistry will continue to receive poor reviews and lose clientele.

Negative experience: UPDATE AT END They seem to be having SIGNIFICANT issues with staffing. I had requested records in November to be sent to my new dentists office in Richmond. I am switching there for numerous reasons (some for issues in this office I will not go into). They said they would be sent, after I had filled out a request. I did not hear from them for several months, and had assumed it was done. I then received a call that they “had been trying to get ahold of me for quite some time, but could not leave a voice mail. It was full.” Funny, no one else has that issue. Including MANY other doctors I have now had over 8 calls with them Said they were sent on 3/6. Still not received. Also, sending by mail?. My appointment is in two days and they are not answering the phone or returning voicemails. I would like to pick up before my appointment on Friday, if someone wants to reach out. Went to pick up my records, as they called two hours after this was posted. Asking me to come in, before opening (7:45, I did not). Records were incomplete. Only last visit and printed X-rays. Not digital copy. I needed full records. This is apparently their policy. Melissa (his wife and office manager)called me yesterday, too late. All of this was blamed on me and my communication issues and that I must be confused.

Negative experience: They refuse to answer the phone, then charge me $50 for it. Greedy! I called to cancel an appointment I had on a Monday. I started calling them the Thursday before and Friday I left a message after calling all morning to cancel my appointment and reschedule. Instead of bothering to call me back, they text me instead to tell me I’m being charged $50 since I didn’t cancel before 48 hours, and to call them back on Monday to reschedule. Why should I have to call back, it’s not like they’ll answer anyway? They use to actually call you to confirm appointments, not anymore though since new office staff I guess. They can’t be bothered to pick up the phone, but they sure send that $50 bill quick, got it in less than a week. I won’t be going back.

Negative experience: Dr. P is obviously a good dentist. However, my wife and I had a horrible experience with the staff. First of all, we like the fact that they are Christian and we attempted several times to become new patients, but they were not accepting new patients at the time. Fine. By chance, a friend of ours is a patient and she mentioned to Dr P’s staff that we were looking. We were accepted. So you have to know someone to get into this exclusive dentist apparently. We went through the process of getting our records faxed from our former dentist and then had some back and forth for a few months to get on the schedule and were told they would call us back. They DO NOT pick up the phone. Nobody did call us back after 5 or 6 attempts. Went to their office to check on things and they asked us if we are a patient. Had to explain everything again. They couldn’t find the faxed records and just told us they are not accepting new patients. Explained to the office manager that we had already been accepted. She returned, “well, it has been too long”. Excuse me? You don’t pick up the phone, you don’t return messages for months, then you blame me for taking too long? Someone needs a reality check on how you treat people. All the while, Christian music playing on the office speakers.

Negative experience: Scheduling issues and when they tell you your copay is higher than it should so you tell them you need to cancel, they tell you they will charge you $50 for cancelling in less than 24 hours. They used to be more understanding and friendly.

Fantastic experience: I ALWAYS receive top notch dental care from Pouchot Dentistry. I have been with them for 12 years. They are pleasant people who are out to help others. The staff constantly wears a smile when I am there.

Fantastic experience: Another wonderful dental experience today, Amanda was amazing as always, Dr Pouchot was very thorough and let me know exactly what was going on, he still has the best crew and dental services in the area, will not go anywhere else, GREAT JOB!!

Fantastic experience: This is the best dentist office and dentist I have ever been to. My teeth are VERY sensitive, they make sure I feel nothing during cleanings. The entire staff is very professional. And the best part is.... they love Jesus! Scriptures on the walls, bibles available in waiting room and Christian music plays throughout. I highly recommend them.

Fantastic experience: I never thought I’d be cracking up laughing my entire cleaning! I always go to the dentist expecting my “plaque garden” to be a mess. I was able to bestow some “black gold” upon my hygienist yesterday and her excitement and love for her job was absolutely contagious, I forgot that I shouldn’t even have a “black gold” build up in the first place! The whole staff of this office are so friendly! You truly are in the most capable/most caring hands at Pouchot Dentistry! ‍♂️

Both the staff and the physical environment are welcoming and calming (even while under some renovations currently). Today, I arrived in dark sunglasses with a migraine, and they lowered their voices and lights for my benefit. They are always running on schedule and have taken a conservative approach with my dental care, which I very much appreciate. I highly recommend the practice.

Fantastic experience: I was taken in the back for cleaning at 12:10 pm, my exact appointment time, so no delay at all. Charlene went right to work in her normal friendly and professional style. I didn't note completion time, but it was about 35 - 45 minutes, which is pretty good considering my snaggle-toothed mouth. Dr. Pouchot stopped in when she finished to look at an issue Charlene had noted and explained why it was a problem and what needed to be done. I was offered an appointment two days out to fix it, but had to opt for another day a week out to keep my schedule going. I've always experienced top notch care in this office for the several years that l have visited them and plan to continue to.

Dina call me exactly as the office opened to offer me a 11:10 appointment. Fortunately it was nothing serious but it was great to be seen so quickly. Dr Pouchot is a great dentist... Offering various options. His staff is very customer oriented. I highly recommend him.
