Fantastic experience: I had the best experience at this dental practice. Dr. Beckstead was kind, personable, funny and knowledgeable! All the hygienists and assistants were kind and welcoming, especially Carmen. Highly recommend! I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Fantastic experience: The staff here are professionals and do an excellent job running the office and supporting the dentists in the practice. Appointments run on schedule and the staff are friendly, approachable and great at accommodating patient needs and answering questions. They do estimates of the cost of your needed dental work and review it in detail with you, accounting for insurance coverage, before any procedure. One thing I appreciate are the automated text messages for both appointment calendaring and for appointment reminders. There is ample off street parking. Dr. Beckstead is a knowledgeable dentist with very good skills and experience and he has a great “chair-side” manner. He is empathetic and uses the latest dentistry technology which makes the whole experience positive.

Fantastic experience: I’ve had VIVIAN as THE registered dental assistant working chairside with the dentist whenever I’ve had dental work in the last two decades. Whether it was a simple bonding procedure or assisting Dr Beckstead with placing an implant crown she worked with skill and confidence and made my appointment a “nonevent”! FARIDEH has been the most exceptional DENTAL HYGIENIST in my life. She is straight forward and comprehensive in her evaluation of my gum and teeth health and works from a disease-prevention oriented approach. With a decade of experience as a dental assistant BEFORE going on to hygienist training she has the exceptional broad experience I want from all my healthcare professionals. I can’t recommend each of these two strongly enough!

Fantastic experience: I've lived in Palo Alto for the past 3 years. When I moved, I did my research, tried a few dentists, and chose Dr. Beckstead as my dentist, and I'm so glad I did. The staff is fantastic and has always been there for me when I need them. I have extremely sensitive teeth and Natalie cleans them so carefully and shares a expertise and insight into how to care for them to reduce sensitivity and protect my enamel ; I've never had such a great hygenist an don't think I'll ever find a better one! She and Dr. Beckstead are a great team and have great attention to detail. I have receeding gums and they have carefully measured and monitored them where other dentists haven't measured or monitored. The receptionists are also super prompt, helpful, and bring a great attitude every time. I've also had food stuck deep under my gums a few times and Dr. Beckstead was always able to fit me in last minute and get it out for me. Beckstead is always thorough in his work and assessing my mouth. He explains things clearly so I can understand and brings an upbeat attitude. He always listens to my questions and gives me the time I need to feel well cared for. I would highly recommend Beckstead Dental Group.

Fantastic experience: I started using Beckstead Dental a couple of years ago because my dentist retired. I was nervous about going to someone new as I had the same dentist for many years. Fortunately, I have had a great experience with Dr. Beckstead and his staff. The work they have performed has been excellent (I have had 5 crowns in two years due to the age of my prior restorations). Everyone I have dealt with has been professional and highly skilled. They have also been warm and friendly and accommodating of my crazy schedule.

Positive experience: They seem to be able to always find some major dental work needed - pros and cons to this.

Fantastic experience: Going in for a tooth repair today, I met a new clinician who joined the team recently. I asked her what her favorite thing about working there was. She said "happy people." It's absolutely true. This firm radiates authentic positivity from the top down and it makes a huge difference in the patient experience. I love that they brought over two amazing dental assistants from Dr. Burkholder's office (Farideh and Vivian!) as well. And the work is superb. They are proactive about preventative measures, they maintain the maxim that healthy gums = healthy teeth, and they are very flexible with making appointments work with your schedule. Absolute top recommendation.

Fantastic experience: This is my favorite place in general. The staff are super friendly and nice, especially Dr. Mimi, Ms. Judi and Dr. Jamie. Judi and the doctors thoroughly explained and advised me on how to use the rubber pick and other method to keep my teeth clean, as I have a severe and quick tartar build up and this has been a long term problem for me (as I have been flossing + brushing x2 / day and yet I still need to go back every 3-4 months for a regular clean in previous dentist place). They're willing to spend extra time to thoroughly clean the teeth and I've learned so much from their thorough instructions. Ms. Judi even offered if I'd like to pet her cute puppy and have her sit on my lap as that'll help me to forget about the scrubbing noise during cleaning, and make sure the staff to take notes that I love puppy for the next visit. The place is very clean, professional. They gave some consultation and simulation on how my teeth would look like, then send me the files since I am considering invisalign in a near future as well. I couldn't be happier with the service they provided and how clean my teeth are after every visit. I've been going to this place for almost 2 years now. (I switched dentist due to work location change). Dr. Mimi was also super patient with my teeth for invisalign treatment. She has been very patient and evaluated the teeth carefully every visit, and with Covid situation and my teeth issue (tartar build up so the teeth was hard to move during invisalign treatment), she was willing to order extra tray set (with additional attachments removal and scanning steps) to adjust the treatment for bext results. Kudos to her for her great skill and work. I feel so lucky I got treater by her.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Mini is my favorite dentist. From when I was 23 until now, after having my baby, she has always been the dentist for me and my entire family. Thanks to her professionalism and her 100% dedication to her patients, I followed her advice and got professional invisible aligners. As a result, I’ve enjoyed perfectly healthy teeth for nearly 10 years. As long as you follow her instructions for maintenance, you’ll have lifelong healthy teeth. Before meeting Dr. Mini, my family had been constantly repairing their teeth and trying different types of crowns at various clinics, spending a lot of money without achieving true dental health. They were stuck in a cycle of ongoing repairs—until I introduced them to Dr. Mini. Everything changed for the better. She saved their nearly hopeless teeth, which are now stable and permanent. They no longer suffer from tooth pain and can easily maintain their oral health at home. My family moved to another state, but every year, they make a special trip to California to see Dr. Mini for their dental checkups. Thank you, Dr. Mini! You gave us confidence.

Negative experience: BEWARE of this office’s deceptive billing practices. I confirmed SEVERAL TIMES before my appointment that they accepted my insurance, and they always said yes—but conveniently and purposefully left out the fact that they were OUT OF NETWORK. I also repeatedly asked how much I’d owe out-of-pocket, but they kept stalling with excuses like our system isn’t working. Instead of giving me a clear answer, they reassured me I’d just owe my normal copay. Well, surprise—I got a MUCH BIGGER BILL than expected because they were NEVER actually in-network. The receptionist deliberately avoided telling me the real cost until it was too late. This wasn’t a mistake—it was intentional deception. If they had been honest upfront, I NEVER would have booked the appointment. DO NOT TRUST THEM. If they’re this shady about billing, I’d hate to see how they handle actual dental care.

Fantastic experience: Everyone at Beckstead dental is top notch in customer service and job knowledge, from the receptionist to the dentists. I’ve had Invisalign done here with perfect results, they were fantastic during the process. I feel like I am in the hands of very skilled and capable people, with the dentists knowing the latest in dentistry. I don’t like going to the dentist, so they offer nitrous which, combined with their kindness, helps make it a stress free experience. Combined knowledge, skill, and “chairside” manner, this is a top quality dental practice.

Fantastic experience: McKenna Family Dentistry always takes good care of me. I was commenting to Judy during my visit that I get more time and care from my dental hygenist than my Medical Doctor gives me.

Negative experience: They filled my teeth for multiple locations, spotty fillings. and the edge of the filling turns into dark with time and eventually on two teeth, the filling material peel off after 1.5-2 years. these two teeth because super sensitive then. I went back and check with them and another doctor in the same office suggest to do the wrap around filling instead of spotty fillings which sounds more resistive to peeling off. I changed to a different dental office, where it turned I have to do root canal and crown so I won't feel the sensitivity due to the peeling off of the spotty filling.

Fantastic experience: I've completed six visits over two months to have 28 dead or dying teeth removed and replaced with dentures. The Surgeon made the three-hour removal process completely painless. The Mistress of the Dremel File fine-tuned the upper and lower plates to a snug, comfortable fit and easy in-and-out without jeopardizing structural integrity. Each member of the staff earned my appreciation.

Fantastic experience: I love my new dentist and all his staff. I had a filling replaced today. It had been quite awhile. The assisting staff helped me to feel comfortable and Dr.Beckstead was thorough and explained what he was doing all along. I appreciated the interactions that I had with everyone. Two weeks later...I'm adding to this review. I had a crown done today, and this was another very positive experience. I didn't even need any anesthetic! I highly recommend Dr. Beckstead and his team.

Fantastic experience: I've been coming to McKenna Family Dentistry for over twenty years. Now they have a new dentist, Dr. Davis Beckstead. I had a recent, somewhat complex, dental problem that needed attention just as he arrived. De. Beckstead spent a great deal of time explaining my options and answering my numerous questions. He sent me two videos giving even more detailed explanations. Then, the results were even better than I expected. Dr. Beckstead is just fantastic--so smart, talented and compassionate. Positive experience: Kristi and Judy are GREAT hygienists. They are the reason I still go here. There are some trouble areas in this practice, that have nothing to do with them. Somehow, even though I made it VERY clear that Dr. Mimi was not to interact with me, my most recent appointment was scheduled by an administrator on a day when she was the in-office dentist. That should have been in mind when they were making my appointment. Still, Kristi is wonderful. Judy is not seeing as many patients right now but is a wealth of information. I have been to other dentists because of the trouble areas here but now I ignore them or work around them as no other hygienists I’ve experienced have been as good.

Negative experience: Dr. McKenna passed away; He easily deserved five stars; the one star goes to my last experience. I was requested to fill out a new patient form because it has been over two years since my last visit. (Yes. Dr. McKenna was that good). I fill the form, but connecting the dots now feels weird. After my new radiographic pictures, a new Dr. showed me that I needed seven fills in 3 tooths; they gave me a budget of +$2K. I trusted them, and they told me they had time to do it immediately. The new Dr. did the Job; during the Job, I learned that Dr. McKenna had passed away, The Job was done, and I asked the new Dr. to point me to each feelings; she responded: Oh, they are too many, "I lost count." () The appointment was initially for cleaning. So they told me after the first Job that they also had time for cleaning; the budget was around $450, The cleaner proceeded to the cleaning, and in the middle of the Job, she told me that I needed a DEEP cleaning and that I have an infection, and that new Job will be $1500 and can be done right after she finished "normal" cleaning she was performing! All that happened a few months ago, and I just asked myself, what happened? Why is this place still called Dr. McKenna? He and his father passed away. What happened to me was bizarre; I felt abused and played under a passive-aggressive "business" practice that doesn't belong to the McKenna family. I was a customer for many, many years. Dr. McKenna always did tremendous and honest work, always very transparent about what to expect. It feels now like the place was highjac... by some sort of Identity Th... The difference across business practices are not good. Yes. The Dr. who did the Job was very kind, fast and charming, and if what is happened in this place was to save the jobs of all the staff, GOOD, but Dr. McKenna BRAND and PRACTICE needs to get back. I hope I'm wrong, but if someone else feels the same experience will be good to see it here. P.S.: After more than a year, Dr. David McKenna's Website still doesn't mention the sad news of his departure, nor reflects the "new ownership / management"

From the front office, to the manager, to the hygienists to the dentists- everyone is incredible. They are a team and it shows! They care deeply about their patients and I would not go anywhere else. There is a huge amount of trust in choosing your dentist. I trusted the wrong dentist a few years ago in Los Angele and ended up with a filling so big and so unnecessary that I was devastated. Please do your research on who you let in your mouth!! I will never trust any other practice with my dental care. and ps. How could I forget to mention the BEST thing about this office? They have little dachshunds as therapy dogs there who will jump up and cuddle in your lap the entire time you have dental work done, if you want. I love dogs and this was the coolest thing I've ever seen in any dental practice. It really helps people who are nervous in the chair and getting work done. I mean, how cool is that?
