Negative experience: My review is from interaction with the front desk and trying to re- schedule an appointment for my kids. After multiple calls to reschedule they never got back to me initially after letting me know that they would have me on a weekend in October once slots open for appointments . When I called they said Oh we are now full followed by endless calls to the office. At one point they said we have staffing changes, but should that impact children's appointments. They gave me a time slot for the same day within 2 hour window which was impossible to reach. On my last interaction the front desk attitude from Abby seemed like ok you can find another dental clinic we don't really care about your business. She couldn't give me an appointment in upcoming 6 month window which was hard to believe. Update - I feel very pressed to come back and edit this review. The practice sent me an email and letter stating how they did everything to assist with the appointment rescheduling and how I wasn't responsive which was absolutely incorrect. There was not one statement apologizing for the poor customer service from Abby and a mention of training their staff on how to talk to people giving you the business.

Fantastic experience: We love Pediatric Dentistry of Palo Alto! My kids (ages 4 and 5) actually love going to the dentist, those are their words, not mine. The team is wonderful about scheduling both children at the same time, which makes it so convenient for me to bring them together in one trip. They sit happily in the chairs, all smiles during their cleanings. Thank you for making the dentist such a positive, even fun experience for children. We also really appreciate how knowledgeable the team is and the excellent care they take of my kids’ teeth!

Fantastic experience: Fantastic doctors and hygienists! We just had an appointment for our 2-year-old, and they made him feel very comfortable (even getting him to laugh, despite being a little scared). They also explained everything in a clear and reassuring way, taking the time to answer all of our questions in detail and even referencing the underlying science behind their explanations. Highly recommend!!

Fantastic experience: We love the experience my 3 year old had for his dental cleaning! Dr. Jon and the rest of the staff were all very friendly, welcoming, and created a fun/safe environment. They had a large selection of movies for kids to choose to watch during their exam. Afterwards, he was able to get a helium balloon of his choosing, a coin, and a sticker! He left with a huge smile on this face :)

Fantastic experience: We had to visit unexpectedly because my child chipped his tooth during school. Even though it was during their break time, they kindly opened the office and treated him right away. the doctor made both my child and me feel very comfortable and reassured. The staff members were also incredibly kind and helpful.

Fantastic experience: Our family will forever love this place. The atmosphere is family friendly, everyone is courteous and service is above and beyond. Even though Dr. Adams doesn’t often see patients anymore, Dr. John has done an amazing job continuing the same level of care he has always provided. He’s fun, great with kids, and always makes sure their teeth are shining white when they leave the office. We truly appreciate the continuity of care for all the patients.

Fantastic experience: My daughter has been with Pediatric Dentistry of Palo Alto since the first dental appointment when she was a baby and still going there as a teenager. Always so relaxing and everybody is so friendly. She actually has been always looking forward to her dental appointment. When she was young, she loved the video she could watch when got teeth cleaned and the goody she got after. Now she still loves her dental appointment because she likes her dentist, Dr Jon. In addition to his professionalism, Dr Jon really pays attention to the details and can remember some swollen gum from previous appointment. He always explains things clearly and never rush . Dr. Jon has a great sense of humor and communicate with teenagers so well. He is so funny and makes the appointment actually enjoyable.

Fantastic experience: Our son is 10yo, on the autism spectrum, and also has ADHD. Almost all medical visits are iffy: he’ll be afraid of equipment, or instructions about what to do, or even concerned about little things like shining a light in his mouth. Having said all that, he has no problem whatsoever doing whatever Dr. Jon asks. Dr. Jon Hurng is amazingly kind, gentle, and empathetic, to the point where our son holds his hand and gives him hugs. In return, he lets Dr. Jon do whatever dental procedure is needed with no fuss. We feel incredibly blessed to have found him!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Jon is amazing with my kiddos. My kids love going to the dentist! Which makes my life as a mom so much easier! There is no dragging and bribing from me to get these kids into the dentist chair. Any battle that I don't have to fight is a win. I also have 3 kids and they are able to accommodate all 3 of my kiddos at once, right next to each other. We're in, we're out, we're on our way! I recommend this team to all my friends who are on the hunt for an exceptional pediatric dentist.

We commute for 45 to 60 minutes just for this location because the staff and doctors are true gems. Billing is very transparent and affordable as well, so you are not met with any surprises. It is a very nice environment and my kid has never had the "scares" going in.

Recently, ANDRES cleaned my 7 yr old son’s sensory sensitive mouth with unbelievable patience, friendliness, and a gentle hand. Although my son’s sensitivities got the best of him, Andres handled it with grace and ease. As a parent, I appreciated Andres’s constant check-in’s, willingness to adapt and try different methods/tools, and updates about what was to come next. As a teacher, these are the marks of a true professional! Additional points: the DVD closet is absolute heaven on Earth, the PS 5 stole my son’s heart, the office is always above and beyond clean, and the prize box finale isn’t too shabby!!!! Plus, who doesn’t love a dentist in a bow tie!!!! Im confident you will find your dental home! PS. The comment below from “nw t” is funny! You’re a grown adult and parent? A10-15 minute late arrival is called late! There are young children, who may be in pain, scheduled after you, it’s not a walk-in office and at the end of the day, this is a business. You should Google the word entitlement!!!

Fantastic experience: We absolutely LOVE Pediatric Dentistry of Palo Alto! From the moment you walk in, you know you're in a special place and the entire team are incredible. Their skill is top-notch, but what truly sets them apart is how they interact with children. My kids, actually look forward to going to the dentist! They make the whole experience so fun and engaging, that there's never any fear or anxiety, just excitement. We recently had to relocate, and finding a new dentist closer to home was a nightmare. After a couple of truly awful experiences elsewhere, we realized how exceptional Pediatric Dentistry of Palo Alto really is. Even though it's now a one-hour drive for us, we wouldn't dream of taking our kids anywhere else. The peace of mind knowing they're getting the best possible care, in an environment they genuinely enjoy, is worth every minute of the drive. If you're looking for a pediatric dentist in the Palo Alto/Menlo Park area (or even if you're not that close!), I can't recommend Pediatric Dentistry of Palo Alto highly enough. They are truly the best!

Negative experience: After our initial appointment with Dr. Jonathan Hurng, I received a link from the office inviting me to leave a review. I would have rated them 5 stars, but I became too busy at the time. However, when I later needed to reschedule, confirm an X-ray, and handle other details, things started to take a turn for the worse. While Dr. Hurng still deserves a 5-star rating, unfortunately, the office experience was far from satisfactory, likely warranting just 1 star. I made several attempts to confirm the X-ray, but my calls went unanswered and ended up in voicemail every time. I also emailed multiple times, but only received a single response after several days. Ultimately, it felt like nothing was working. When I raised my concerns with the office staff, one employee suggested, "Maybe our phone was down." On another occasion, I was given a very tight schedule. After picking up my kids from school to bring them in, I was delayed by about 15 minutes due to traffic. Unfortunately, the office turned us away for being late, which was incredibly frustrating. The ongoing issues with the office became more of a headache than I was willing to deal with, so I decided to find a new dentist. So far, the experience at the new office has been much smoother.

From the front desk receptionist to hygienist to dentist, everyone was so kind, respectful and gentle with my child. Story time: as first time parents, I didn’t realize how AWFUL dealing with dental insurance for pediatrics is. I had a NIGHTMARE of experience with covered california & their assigned added delta dental HMO plan with no help to provide care for my 4 year old son whom complained of mouth pain. I went back & forth many times calling & requesting to speak to supervisors to escalate the issue with no resolution for a week. I even signed up for additional insurance in hopes to just get treatment but that solution still fell into the category of unknown of “in network” care & costs AND the plan didn’t go into effect the following month which is useless because my son needed care NOW. Fast forward to doing research & reaching out to dental practices to find a solution, I came across Pediatric Dentistry Palo Alto which offered their own membership which was effective immediately & they had appointment availability to be seen the following day, I finally felt a sigh of relief. I could already tell the high quality of care my son would receive not only by the reviews I read, but also by the photos of the office, the location, and also by the way the staff communicated with me to address my concerns both financially & clinically for my son. The front desk Tony & Alani, were prompt in their responses & were solution focused which I appreciated most. Tony went above & beyond to assist with getting the financial program situated. We scheduled with Dr Adam through the portal & the staff informed us that Dr. Jon will be seeing my son instead because change in Dr Adan’s schedule. I read high reviews for Dr Jon & we agreed that was fine. The experience: when we first walked in, the office is modern, clean & well kept. They had images of characters to create a welcoming atmosphere for kids. We were fortunate to work with our hygienist Andres whom was patient & worked so well with our 4 year old. It was perfect because before their treatment, they bring them into their video closet which our son got to choose & they display it on a screen above the treatment chair which we thought was very clever & cool! My son mentioned he was scared to go to the dentist & did so well because the whole staff created a welcoming & comforting atmosphere. Dr Jon was amazing, he has a great presence with kids as he is a father himself. We appreciated is realistic approach to treatment & how thorough he was at explaining all the details. We are so relieved & happy that we stumbled upon this dental practice! We travel from San Francisco & Dr Jon asked if we were ok with the distance & we mentioned to him that we are the type of people to drive the distance to receive quality care. Our son mentioned how scared he was to go to the dentist for the first time, and when we asked him how it was afterwards he told us, “that was fine!” Thank you so much everyone :) you turned our nightmare pediatric dental experience to a pleasant one

Negative experience: Dr. Adams has taken care of my kids’ teeth for many years. He is a very kind doctor and I genuinely felt that my kids were in good hands. Recently, however, the clinic has deteriorated: I had made an appointment for a procedure and had called twice during that week to verify all of the details of the procedure. When my husband took our child to the appointment, a different procedure was done that I had not agreed to (completely different, not even the sick tooth). I feel deeply violated in my rights as a patient and parent and my child’s sick tooth is still not fixed. Also, the procedure was done by an unsupervised trainee who used the wrong material, so the whole procedure was a complete waste of time. In fairness, Dr. Adam’s was not around on that day and Dr. Hrung was in charge. We will be switching clinics. I can’t recommend this one any more.

But it’s his expertise and professionalism that truly sets him apart. He’s incredibly thorough, patient, and always takes the time to address our concerns. Rodney, our children’s hygienist for many years, is equally fantastic. His kindness and gentle approach have created a trusting relationship with our kids, especially our son who always requests him by name. The entire team at Pediatric Dentistry of Palo Alto is dedicated and passionate about their work. It’s evident in the warm, welcoming atmosphere and the exceptional care our children receive. This practice is truly outstanding.

We didn’t know how she would possibly sit through and tolerate the procedure, but Dr. John’s extensive skill, experience, gentleness, playfulness and ability to communicate effectively with us as parents and Stella as a 4 year old made the procedure as easy and pain free as possible. I cannot recommend the Pediatric Dentistry of Palo Alto highly enough!!!!

Fantastic experience: Super easy and convenient scheduling process; able to do everything online! The dentist helped my baby feel comfortable and helped me feel reassured that her fussiness was age-appropriate. Overall very positive experience, highly recommend!

Negative experience: Dr. Hurng had great bedside manner but failed to diagnose or treat MULTIPLE severe caries which resulted in my child having to get a root canal and multiple deep fillings at age 9. I would not recommend this dental practice for this reason. The saddest part is how disappointed we are, given how much my child loved going to her dentist.

We previously had kids at another pediatric dentist in Redwood City that seemed fine at first, but we didn’t have any basis of comparison or know it could be better. A negative experience with our youngest prompted us to look for another practice and we were recommended to PDPA by our friends. Our kids have been treated by both Dr. Adams and Jon and they are both fantastic. They are both empathetic and kind and really partnered with us in coming up with a treatment plan that is tailored for each child. We no longer have a negative association with going to the dentist, which is a huge win!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been taking my 2 kids to Dr. Adams for dental appointments for over 12 years. Dr. Adams is the best and always has a smile on his face. My son needed to have his wisdom teeth removed last year, and Dr. Adams helped us find the right oral surgeon for that procedure. The dental hygienists are top-notch and know how to interact so comfortably with kids of all ages. The kids get to pick out a movie to watch on the screen in the ceiling which they like. The front desk staff are knowledgeable, pleasant to interact with, and make scheduling appointments very easy. The practice is so conveniently located next to the Safeway in Sharon Heights and finding a parking spot is never an issue. Clearly we adore everyone who works at the Pediatric Dentistry of Palo Alto. We definitely recommend them to other families who want an excellent experience at their kid’s dentist’s office and want to develop a consistent, long-term relationship with their dentist.
