Positive experience: My first time there and everyone was very nice. Lots of kids playing in the waiting room and that made it exciting for my timid four year-old. She was brought back to take x-rays and she did the best she could sadly my daughter is a very anxious kid at the dentist but she left happy and ready to come back. Not to mention, this dentistry was a referral because our previous dentistry does not perform dental surgeries under General anesthesia. So this appointment was more like a consultation , and I was very thankful that they were in network with my insurance. The previous dentistry and this dentistry worked very hard to get all of the x-ray records transferred from one office to the other and they did it even last minute….minutes before my appointment because I was having issues electronically signing my consent to get everything transferred, but that did not stop them from making sure they had everything before my appointment. I really appreciate the hard work to make sure I was able to keep my appointment on time. I had asked if a grandparent can take her in my place but because this is her first appointment, they needed me to be there. I had to leave work mid shift to come to this appointment and return back to work and I was able to do that in exactly 1 hour to and from work.

Fantastic experience: The entire staff is so welcoming, kind and patient. My daughter is extremely hyperactive & is so uncomfortable with going to the dentist. Every single person in the office is so understanding. They explain everything thoroughly, and are so reassuring. The staff members remembered us after 6 months. I know that's not the most important factor, but it really makes a 6 year old feel special and even look forward to returning. The only downside is how awkward the building is, which may just be a me thing. And the bathroom is often a little untidy. However, this facility is always packed with families, and the office staff are busy so I understand how quickly it can become unkempt when families allow their children and to use the bathroom unattended or don't check after them.

Fantastic experience: They really seem like they take the time to make surr each child is comfortable and at ease the best they can.

Negative experience: They overbook. The office is tiny with tons of people, it is 90 degrees in there, my daughters appointment was for 10:30 and at 10:45 I asked if all the other children in the office were still waiting to be seen and she said 4 other kids were still in front of mine. It would’ve been 1-2 more hours before they would’ve seen her. I don’t know how this place has 4.8 stars.

Fantastic experience: Took my daughter to Mariposa Dentistry for a checkup, and Claire and Dr. Alison were absolutely fantastic! My daughter even said it “was so much fun” afterward :) Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: First, I have been looking for a pediatric dentist in network. The front desk who spoke to me was amazing, took all my insurance information confirmed they take my insurance. Most places I’m left guessing. So far A plus. I will add more after my 1 year olds first dental apt.

Negative experience: I scheduled a new patient appointment for my daughter at this pediatric dental office, and the experience was completely unprofessional and honestly just rude. I’m a single mom and had arranged for my daughter’s grandmother to take her, since I couldn’t miss work the day of the appointment. I called the day before to confirm, and they told me her grandmother wouldn’t be allowed to bring her. I explained my situation and asked if they could contact us if there were any cancellations. I also let them know my daughter would be out of town for the next few weeks. Shortly after, I received automated texts about upcoming appointments. When I called to follow up and see if we could reschedule for next month, I was abruptly told that because we missed the original appointment, they wouldn’t schedule her at all. It was rude, gross, and completely lacking in compassion—especially for a practice that’s supposed to work with children and families. They clearly don’t care about working parents or flexibility. Take your child elsewhere. We definitely will.

Positive experience: I really loved this practice and the patience they’ve shown my son every time we go in! I’ve never had an issue up until our latest visit, which was today. We were seen by Dr. Pedersen herself (which we are normally seen by Dr. Alison) and she put in a spacer for my child. My child has a strong gag reflex, and he is a very anxious child in general, I think due to how nervous he was it triggered the gag reflex to the point where he couldn’t stop gagging when she was inserting the spacer and he ended up throwing up. :( I felt so terrible as it was happening because I didn’t know what to do. The issue I had was with how unprofessional Dr. Pedersen handled the entire situation. I didn’t catch our dental assistant’s name but she was absolutely wonderful and tried her best to calm my child down, she ran to get a trash can for my son as soon as she registered what was happening. As my child was gagging the Dr. had a really angry tone with him, as if she was angry that he wasn’t able to control his gagging. She ran out of the room angrily after he began vomiting and I overheard her telling the dental assistant that she’d “skip out” on this patient next time. Not sure if that’s exactly what I heard but the fact that she just ran out and the last we heard of her was her screaming at my child and leaving the room while my child was crying with vomit all over himself on the dentists chair and the room was absolutely disheartening. As a dentist working with mainly young children I can imagine her profession is hard enough, I 100% do not expect someone to coddle my child. I just wish she had shown a bit more empathy considering she was aware of how nervous my son was in her chair well before this whole situation played out. Enough empathy to address the situation in a different way other than with anger and to completely abandon the dental assistant to deal with any communication with her patient after such a traumatic experience. My son was very upset as we were leaving and kept apologizing to me because he “made the doctor angry” by throwing up. She never addressed us again other than screaming at my child and moving on to the next patient so I requested to not be seen by her again. Unfortunately she may be the owner of the practice, which in my experience has been the best in our city with younger kids (as a medi-cal patient) but I am glad that there is an alternative doctor at the practice who will be able to see my child next time, hence the rating of 3 stars. If you have a nervous child, I’d strongly recommend requesting any other doctor besides Dr. Pedersen as in my experience, she lacks the patience for highly anxious children. Also I would like to add that I ended up being the one to clean up the vomit, I wouldn’t have expected the dental assistant to do it on her own but she did step in to help me which I really appreciated! I wish I would’ve caught her name.

Fantastic experience: The staff are super friendly and helpful, especially if you have an unhappy child who wants nothing to do with being anywhere near a dentist. Although my 8yo daughter at the time was behaving exactly like that, the dentist, Dr. Pedersen was still so kind and treated her exactly how I would've wanted any good professional to have. She took the time, as busy as she was, to explain and detail all that was going to be done. Which was great and had really reassured me that I could trust her. I also felt as though she knew how to handle my daughter's fears and anxiety in the future. Now because of how she undestood my daughter at our first visit, later on that day my daughter had randomly asked me, "am I going to see that dentist again?" She further explained why and told me she "liked that dentists because she was really nice." Of course I'd recommend this dentists to anyone and really look forward to her being my daughters dentists.

Fantastic experience: Truly a “pediatric” office. The staff and dentist were so well-equipped to handle children, their behaviors, and a parent’s concerns. The waiting room is stocked with children’s toys to keep them occupied while they wait, and even has a couple of arcade games for the older children. My son has had inadequate dental care in the past because the staff does not know how to handle his crying- but Dr. Pedersen knew exactly how to proceed as a pediatric dentist- and we had a positive and effective experience!

Negative experience: Been taking my kids here for years. When Anne took over, it was good seeing all the remodeling and upgrades to the office. However, attitude from dentist was horrible. She tried forcing my child to lay back. I immediately picked her up and said not happening. My child was obviously distress and freaking out. Dr continued to tell me what she thought needed to happen, I told her I couldn't hear because of my child crying. Dr then thought screaming out what she thought was the best. I'd imagine she would let me calm my daughter up before trying anything. .. worst experience ever. Hutcherson was so sweet and knew when to push a kids limits . Anne seems money is more important than helping a child have a good experience. Staff is amazing. DR not so good.

Positive experience: El lugar muy lindo y limpio, buena atención de parte de los dentistas y el personal. sin embargo el uso de mascarilla era requerido según el mensaje que se envía antes de la consulta y vi muchas personas sin mascarilla, niños y adolescentes e incluso padres, también había otros adultos sin mascarilla trabajando en las instalaciones. Mi cita era a las 10:30 llegue 20 minutos antes y me atendieron a las 11:10.
