Fantastic experience: Wonderful visit as always. The staff is always so friendly. We didn’t wait long to be seen by the Dr. Excellent!

Fantastic experience: I have taken my children to Dr. To'olo since they got their first teeth. My oldest is now 16. There are not enough words to describe the respect and trust I have for him. He is kind, patient, professional, honest and direct. I have never seen someone connect with children the way he can. I have trusted him with my children through many surgeries and procedures and I always knew he cared for them as though they were his own. The entire office staff and the hygienists are professional and friendly. I highly recommend Katahdin Pediatric Dentristy.

Fantastic experience: Katahdin pediatric dentistry is the best. Ample parking and easy access. The check-in process is easy and the lobby is comfortable with toys for the little ones. We ended up waiting about 25 minutes past our appointment time, which is not ideal, but things happen. The dental tech was very sweet and understanding and explained the process to me expertly. Dr To'olo it's the one who really made the experience so spectacular. I was nervous with a feral 2-year-old, but Dr. T was so patient and so skilled. He made me and my little one comfortable throughout the entire process.

Fantastic experience: Dr Tooloo did a great job interacting with my 2 year old! He examined him by making him laugh and playing with him. He waited for permission and got my son to trust him. Dr Tooloo knew when to stop to create a trusting environment for future visits. Knowledgable! Communication with me as a parent was appropriate. He asked questions and made sure I was comfortable with the plan and got what I expected from the visit.

Fantastic experience: Was frustrated trying to find the place but once I did it was a good experience. Staff was very friendly and thanked me for my patience due to running late by about 15 minutes. The whole time was top tier and they explained everything to me and patiently answered my questions.. they made it as much of a good time for my 8 year old as a dental visit can be. One of the best places to take a child as far as my experience has been.

Fantastic experience: The staff at Katahdin Pediatric are wonderful. They are friendly and my daughter has been going to them since her first tooth. She actually looks forward to seeing Dr. To'olo so he can see how good she has been taking care of her teeth.

Fantastic experience: They run a tight ship and are clear about expectations and boundaries for behavior, including parent and child phone/device use. That said, it’s probably what is necessary in an age where people don’t Seem to Have good manners for devices anymore. we had an excellent experience there. Staff and dentist were very friendly. The filling was done in a gentle and calm way, with friendly communication throughout, and we were out of there smiling before we knew it.

Fantastic experience: I now live an hour away... but I can't see myself changing my son's dentist. He has done amazing work from the surgery to ongoing care. To'olo and his team are amazing with kids. My son is very comfortable with them.

Fantastic experience: The Doctor and his team were amazing! Check in is quick and the waiting room is perfect for a pediatric practice. The hygienist did an excellent job confirming who we were and what we were there for. The Doctor was kind and worked hard to make my three year old feel comfortable. He was silly yet calm which helped my son finally lay back for his check up. The doctor was so patient and affirmed that my son’s reluctance was normal and he would direct me when he wanted me to step in. He even had big brother help encourage my son. All in all, it’s a fantastic practice and I was very grateful for such a calm, positive experience.

Fantastic experience: The staff are professional, knowledgeable and understanding. They were attentive to my child. His appointment was scheduled not even one day in advance in the evening for 0730 the next morning (as I had called and asked for soonest available). That morning team quickly obtained his recent X-rays (done the day before) that morning and adjusted his treatment plan to his current needs. Thank you for the excellent care

Fantastic experience: 10/10 I absolutely adore everything about this place, Dr. Toolo is an absolute blessing, he is phenomenal at his job. He talked to my 4 year old son Weston and even asked for Weston’s permission to enter the room, he treated him like the growing boy he is! He even got smiles out of him and made sure he felt safe. Maybe I can switch him here permanently? I 100% recommend!!!!

Fantastic experience: Katahdin pediatric dentistry is by far the best dentist in Maine. Not only is he wonderful with children. Hes a miracle worker, with kiddos with underlying health issues,and earned the trust of my autistic child who's petrified of anything medical. He is amazing i recommend him to anyone,with any issues there children may have. He makes going to the dentist fun!!!

Fantastic experience: My child has some anxiety about anything dental related…slowly she is getting better and the staff do a great job at making her as comfortable as possible, and explaining exactly what they are doing and why.

Negative experience: We have been going here for the last 10 years. The last appointment I waited over 40 minutes with my kids to get in and be seen. I have traveled over 2 hours to continue to come to this dentist which they have in my file. I was barely 10 minutes late and they said they couldnt take my kid in but yet took multiple kids in EARLY. Front desk AND hygienist was EXTREMELY rude and laughing when I was obliviously frustrated. Do not go here if you are an actual parent that has things come up.

Negative experience: My son had an appointment today. I called first thing this morning to make sure with the snow storm that the office was going to stay open. They said yes. We show up for our appointment and after the receptionist asking our names, she says, "would you like to reschedule for tomorrow?" I can only imagine my face.... after arranging our schedules, packing up three kids and then driving in the first snow of the season when we could have stayed home. I responded with a semi adult temper tantrum with my main point along the lines of, "why wasn't this communicated when I called ealier" and I was only met with, "well the text messages do say that the doctor may not be in office." Oh you mean the numerous reminder text messages for just one appointment. It wasn't clearly communicated that we could still get the cleaning, just not the exam with the doctor upon check in. I walked out with my son. Got a call while still in the parking lot from the same receptionist saying that "this doesn't only happen to me and we did no show our last appointment so he needs to be seen." Yeah, I think my son was sick the last scheduled appointment-- sorry we didn't bring him in to spread the germs. I understand that doctors or dentists may get called away from time to time but I feel like a simple phone call letting us know he wasnt going to be in office at the time of our appointment or even being told clearly at check in that we'd only be getting a cleaning would have gone a long way. Being asked after driving 30 minutes in the snow with three kids if I wanted to reschedule for the next day really got me. When the hygienist was finishing the cleaning, we did infact see the dentist in the office and nothing was done or said about that nor any contact made between him and myself or child. Also my two sons have been going to this office for the last 11 years and they wouldn't accept my daughter as a patient because she is over the age of 4 (had been seen by another dentist previously). Always extremely dissatisfied with this office's front staff.

Fantastic experience: Best Dentist is the area for kids. Dr. To'olo has been our doctor for 2 kids and has done great for check ups and even major procedures. He has a great way with kids and he is the only pediatric dentist I would trust my kids with.

Negative experience: I found the staff extremely condescending. We have waited almost 12 months for our appointment, just to be told that we will be waiting another 9 months for treatment.. Which I verbalized my disdain for. In the meantime, they leave 5 and 6 year olds in pain with teeth that need correction, and act rudely about how bad they have become, after making them wait a year to even be seen, not even treated.. this place is not in it for the welfare of the children. They do not care. And waiting, eventually, 21 months to get children the care they need.. is horrendous. We will be going somewhere else, since it’s another 9 month wait anyways. No thank you.

Positive experience: The dentist was spot on when it came to the extractions of my child’s teeth and handled it with grace and compassion. On the flip side it took over a half hour before we could start the procedure and there’s no WiFi available if you need to complete paperwork authorizations. Perhaps understaffed on specialists but they do a really great job otherwise just need to improve on scheduling and being more prompt on timing.

Fantastic experience: I cannnot shout the praises of Dr. To’olo loud enough. From the first visit at 1.5, before we had our first official cleaning, he got him in so fast for an emergency chipped tooth, I knew this dentist was unique and fabulous. He can get my usually wild and anxious now four year old to do a cleaning seamlessly. He is kind and never seems to let it bother him when a child acts like a child. He asks parents not to chat while he works, and how could I as I’m always just in awe of his methods, patience and kindness.

Negative experience: Called the morning of my sons scheduled appointment because I hadn't had anyone confirm his appointment and we live an hour and a half away..I called they said yes he had an appointment today so i drove down there to then be told no he doesn't have one today it's in 2026. I wasted gas to get down there and the receptionist was extremely rude so I got rude back. I'd give them zero if I could.

Fantastic experience: I have been bringing my daughter to them for a few years now. This is a great place for kids. Dr. Tools and his team are exceptional.

Fantastic experience: First of all they got my son in quickly for a tooth trama. Second they were friendly from the moment we walked in to the moment we left ! The dentist was amazing. He built a relationship in a quick time with my son and made his first visit to the dentist fun. The dentist and staff were amazing ! Fantastic experience: Highly recommend Dr To’olo and the team at Kathadin Pediatric Dentistry! Our 16 month old had their first ever dental visit today and it was such a positive experience from the second we walked thru the door. He took so much time and care to make sure my child was comfortable with him, his assistant, and all the equipment/sounds before ever even touching them! I went in expecting a semi-traumatic experience, instead my child left with a new toothbrush, sticker, and a big smile.

Fantastic experience: Amazing dentist, and staff. I was lucky to get in at all, after my son broke a tooth out, and loosened 2 other. The staff was kind, warm, and very interactive. The dentist was phenomenal, he made my very anxious little boy, very comfortable. He hates doctors, and he left that office without shedding a single tear. I was amazed, and I couldn't recommend this office enough.

They're passionate, fun, organized, the staff are all well trained and well versed in all areas of their line of work. The administration staff are also incredible. State of the art technology and equipment and the best preventative care. They're timely, and proficient.

Fantastic experience: Dr.Gaston To'olo and his entire staff are so perfect for this job. Without any exaggeration I was crying happy tears watching him treat my daughter so beautifully kind today. I didn't think he was going to be able to look in her mouth let alone brush her teeth and have her interacting with him so well. Amazing, so amazing how patient and smart this man is. I absolutely will recommend him to everyone.

Fantastic experience: My daughter had her first dentist appointment today, it was very lighthearted as Dr. Toolo worked to get to know her and allow her to be comfortable with him and the sounds that come with being in a dental office. I am confident in the care that he will provide us, our appointment was worth the 7 month wait!

Negative experience: Do not take your child here for any type of emergency visit or a cavity. He pulled a molar out of my 6 yo without my consent. They also did not allow me to go back with my child for the examination. Terrible experience for me but worse for my daughter!!

Fantastic experience: Katadin Pediatric Dentistry is absolutely amazing! I had taken my boys to another dentist before I took them here and my youngest son would not let them touch him. He now goes to Katadin Pediatric Dentistry and he loves the staff there. He will go in with the hygienist all by himself and comes out smiling. He has had cleanings, and x rays with no problems. Highly recommend them.

Fantastic experience: Cannot say enough good things about this office. I’ve been taking my son since he was 6 months old and had an incident where he chipped his front tooth. The doctor is so kind and patient with the kids and makes it a fun interactive experience. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.

Dr. To'olo was sure to talk directly to my son and make him included in his care it's very obvious that working with kids is where he's happy. Our tech Lexxy was also very kind and able to explain all of our treatment options in finer detail and help us figure out our best choice she even my son's first dental x-rays an enjoyable experience something I never look forward to.

Fantastic experience: We all know how hard getting into, a dentist for your child can be right? Even with a terrible toothache; Well yesterday, my son complained his tooth was “killing” him, got him into his hygienist, sure enough a cavity… After being told my son had aged out of all pediatric dentistry’s, I insisted they send referrals EVERYWHERE, and that I’d call and explain the situation. Katahdin Pediatric Dentistry, was first on the list I was handed, I called explained my sons situation, never once was I told we don’t take that age, we don’t take his insurance, or we are booking way out!! Instead, I was told let me talk to our doc and call you back!! Fast forward to today, my son had his appointment today, the staff were all so pleasant, the doc was patient, he listened and heard what my SONS concerns were! (my son was happy, that he was the one to explain his wants and needs)! The doc also found spots of concern, that we were unaware of! We have a treatment plan and are on the road to getting my son some relief! Thank you everyone at Katahdin Pediatric Dentistry, for caring about my son like he was yours!

Negative experience: Very unprofessional experience. The doctor removed four of our son's teeth. He has Down syndrome and is nonverbal. We needed to move our follow-up appointment because of illness. We then got told we were no longer patients because we missed an appointment. Mind you, we just had a major surgery and they are refusing to see us for a follow-up. I'm very disappointed to have to write this review however people need to know that this could happen to them before they schedule a surgery with this office.

Fantastic experience: Best dental experience ever!! My 6yr old was very nervous, (he had a horrible experience elsewhere) and he left Katahdin pediatric dentistry smiling!! The whole staff is AMAZING, Gaston is a treasure! My son said he is very funny and he felt comfortable the whole time!! I highly recommend them and wish we had found them sooner!!

Fantastic experience: I brought my son and daughter in for their initial visit with Dr. To’olo today (switched dentists because Katahdin is in network with our dental insurance) and every employee at the practice exceeded my expectations. They were all kind, patient, helpful, and communicated everything clearly to us. Some dental issues were identified in both kids, but a plan was set up, and we left this afternoon with a series of appointments scheduled for each child to address each problem. I left feeling super comfortable with the plan, including being informed of our expected out of pocket costs on a thorough estimate for each procedure. My daughter gets easily anxious about the unknowns at medical appointments, and everyone was patient in explaining things to her to ease her mind, and her appointments were scheduled with this in mind…splitting them up and gradually easing her in to more invasive procedures to get her better acquainted and more comfortable at a new office. Based on this appointment alone, I would highly recommend Katahdin Pediatric Dentistry to anyone.

Fantastic experience: Fabulous and timely dental care, as always! Kim cleaned my son's teeth and she was exceptionally kind, patient and respectful. Dr. To'olo is the best dentist out there. He has taken excellent care of my son and his teeth for the last 8 years. When we first started going to the dentist, it was a total nightmare-- my son had a severe oral aversion and was terrified. Dr. To'olo has gone above and beyond over the years, and his compassion and patience are why my son can now sit still in the chair for a cleaning without a single tear and leave the office saying "that was so easy!" We are very grateful for Dr. To'olo and his team!

Positive experience: The staff was very pleasant but the wait time was crazy. It doesn't make for a very nice visit with an impatient child asking how long we have been there.

Fantastic experience: Very patient and kind each employee takes their time to let the child get comfortable no rushing at all! We are switching primarily to this office!

Negative experience: I booked an appointment for my son last August 2023. I couldn't get one until the following March 1, 2024. On February 29, when I hadn't had a call or text confirmation, I personally called to confirm the appointment. Jennifer at the front desk insisted that she had texted a confirmation but when I questioned her more closely, she had entered my phone number incorrectly. TODAY , March 1, the day of the appointment, Jennifer called to cancel because of our secondary insurance coverage. I understand that insurance coverage is beyond her control but if she had entered my phone number correctly months ago when I booked this appointment, I could have resolved this problem and looked for another dentist. Now I don't know how long it will take for my son to find another dentist. We have been in Maine for two and a half years and dental care is almost impossible to get! He is eight and really needs to get established with a regular dentist!!! No apologies from her or the office manager for the inconvenience to my family or for their clerical competence! I'm so angry!! I don't normally yell at people who work in customer service or at desks, ect., but I admit, I did get pretty upset with these folks today. I waited months to get care for my child and now I feel like the worst mom in the world, like I am neglecting his dental health!!! I would not recommend attempting to try to establish care here- it is going to be nearly impossible: either they won't have availability or Jennifer won't get your phone number correct. Wish me luck elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: I am blown away at how good Dr. To'olo was with my little 3 year old boy! My son went from refusing to open his mouth to giggling and smiling and getting all of the treatment that he needed. My family is so grateful.

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend Dr To’olo! My daughter is 2.5 and when she was 1.5 she fell and broke her front tooth. At the time I had not yet brought her to a dentist. I was waiting till she was around 2. So when she had her fall I was frantically trying to find someone available asap. No one in my area could see her for over a month if not months. I looked online for dentist in the Bangor area which is over and hour where I’m from. I called Katahdin pediatric and although they were booked. They helped me by giving me numbers to dentist they suggest. When I had no luck I called them back. They truly wanted to help and made an appointment available for her to at least be looked at. Mind you they were booked out too. They also had me text pictures so Dr To’olo could look at my daughters teeth. From that first initial appointment I knew we found the right dentist. His way with children and how he makes them feel comfortable is beyond my expectations! I’m so beyond happy I found this dentistry. From the front desk to the dental assistant to Dr To’olo! They’re fast and efficient! My daughter has been seen 3 times and on this last appointment she has gone from crying not wanting to be looked at to loving having her exams and teeth cleaning. Dr To’olo truly cares about his patients. His technique to calm a child and make them comfortable is something else. We drive over an hour one way to her appointments and it is totally worth it!

Fantastic experience: Dr. To'olo made my 1.5 year old son so comfortable throughout the appointment. All the staff was friendly and the appointment was a breeze! I appreciate Dr. To'olo not babying my son, but also being entertaining for him.

Fantastic experience: Dr. To'olo and his team are wonderful. My daughter had a traumatic fall and Dr. To'olo and an assistance rushed in after hours to save her adult teeth. He is so patient and always listens to the kids and goes at their pace when he is doing procedures or exams. Can not recommend him enough!

Positive experience: The office was a little hard to find, parking was limited, the receptionist could have been a little more cheerful. I did get a call back as soon as office was open, an an emergency appt for my son which was good, dental assistant was polite an informative, the doctor was nice and polite an good with children, exam room was small, no TV for children in that room. The main thing that bothered me was there was no surprise or toy for my son being good at the appointment, no stickers nothing, most pediatric dental offices have a toy at end of of visit ot a sticker or a new toothbrush, this office did not. I think that is an important thing for kids, to get a surprise after. My son certainly noticed it, he said mama there is no TV mama I don't see any toys, an he wasn't as good at this appointment as he was others I think because of it. And again the receptionist should be cheerful and not cut off patients mother when speaking.

Fantastic experience: Excellent and caring staff and an experienced and professional pediatric dentist who truly understands children's dental health and growth needs. This team has seen each of my three kids since the first tooth and they have always provided great care and guidance specifically tailored to each child's unique needs.

Fantastic experience: The best at what they do! I bring my daughter here, and she has as good a time as you can at the dentist. All the staff who work here are very friendly, professional, and polite. They work very hard to make you feel at ease and are great to work with when discussing treatments and options. My daughter would like to say "This place is great and I would always like it as my dentist", so there you have it :)

Negative experience: Had an appointment scheduled for August 10th for my son. I waited six months for this appointment. They rescheduled without a phone call, via mail. I called to reschedule. She offered Sept 11 which wouldn’t work because I didn’t want my son missing school. So I scheduled for January. Received a letter stating they were terminating serviced because of a missed appointment in September. Called today to correct there scheduling issue as my son needs this appointment. Even tho this was a scheduling issue with THEM they refuse to deactivate my sons services despite being a current patient. The women I had on the phone was rude, kept interrupting me, referring to “the notes” which were WRONG. Children and their dental care should be more of a priority to these people. Sad. Wow.

Fantastic experience: My daughter had a very positive experience with no tears! She had an extraction and two cavities filled! She’s only 7. They had amazing bed side manner! Thanks Doctor T!

Fantastic experience: Our experience here was so far beyond what I was hoping for - the dentist was SO friendly and caring, focusing on developing a relationship with my 2 year old above all else before he tried looking in his mouth. And how many dentists do you meet for the first time that bock like a chicken and bobble their heads outside the room before entering it? Dr To’olo is incredible in so many ways, and his staff is patient and thorough. Overall so happy my son is now a patient here!

Fantastic experience: Great team! My Son has strong gag reflex’s and they always accommodate him and make him feel nothing less than a normal teenager. They gave us some helpful tools to get over the gag reflexes as well. The doctor is always a pleasant man and loves to be playful. I wish my dentist was like this as a younger girl.

Fantastic experience: My 2 daughters had a cleaning this morning, saw Dr. To’olo with great news following the exam! The appointments were very timely. As we were driving home they spoke very highly of their hygienist, Jessie. They said Jessie was funny and nice and they loved seeing her today! We even joked about their toothpaste flavors each being “the best flavor!” Thank you!

Fantastic experience: Everyone is so kind and helpful. Dr. To’olo is so great with my 20 month old. He is patient and gentle, and truly makes the appointments fun for him. I love that he takes the time to interact before getting into the appointment, and then introduces each step in a fun hands on way that my son can be a part of to make everything less “scary” to him. I am so grateful that we found out about this practice so that we could instill good dental experience from the start.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Toole has been amazing with my special needs daughter for the last 12 years. He is so patient and kind to her. He takes his time with her, and he respects her limitations. He explains everything he doing to me and why. We always look forward to our visits with him. I couldn't ask for a better dentist for my girl. Keep up the amazing work Dr. Toole, you really are a great man!

Fantastic experience: I can’t say enough good things about this practice! My very nervous one year old was made to feel as comfortable as possible and the patience of Doctor To’olo was amazing! He has a way with children and his staff are wonderful!

Fantastic experience: I can’t say enough about Dr. To’olo and his staff! They are always friendly and helpful, and Dr. To’olo makes sure that a trip to the dentist is something to look forward to. My children think he is magical, and they always leave with a smile on their face. Any issues with my children’s teeth are addressed immediately, and often times before they even happen.

Fantastic experience: My 2 year old sons very first dental experience thanks to a front tooth getting knocked out and the team at KPD was wonderful! Dr. Gaston was like a child whisperer and made the visit fun for my little guy! No fear of the dentist here!

Negative experience: This place is an absolute joke. After 4 months of playing phone tag with my son's PCP and this horrible place for a referral they told me he needed in order to be seen, I finally get a phone call from them only to be told that they can't accept him as a patient. The they don't do upper lip ties and can't see him for routine cleaning! Because they aren't accepting Maine Care patients right now. Sounds to me like they just don't want to see him as a patient. My son's occupational therapist only recommended this place because they said the dentist is the only one around who is good with autistic children. So thanks for denying my autistic son. Every person at the desk I spoke to over the phone was extremely rude and just sounded like they wanted to get off the phone with me. Super unprofessional. Won't recommend this place to anyone.
