Negative experience: Being a working mom is hard enough , let alone trying to fighting schedules and policies that prevent you from basically using this office.

Negative experience: I wanted to share my experience as a cautionary note for other parents considering this office. I scheduled a pediatric appointment online at the end of February for March 9th, submitting my insurance card, credit card, and medical forms at the time of booking. I received a confirmation the next day, and the office called me several times in the days leading up to the appointment to verify insurance — each time telling me everything was confirmed. On the Friday morning before my Monday appointment, they called once more, asked the same insurance questions, and assured me they were expecting us. That same Friday afternoon, I received a call informing me that their providers don't accept my insurance and they could not see us. The office had two weeks and multiple phone interactions to identify this issue. Cancelling on a Friday afternoon before a Monday appointment left me with no real options — it's virtually impossible to find an available pediatrician dentist that quickly, and I had already arranged a day off work. I understand insurance verification can be complicated, but this level of repeated miscommunication and last-minute cancellation is not acceptable. I hope the office uses this as an opportunity to improve their process for future families…

Fantastic experience: Very happy with Commonwealth Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry. We've brought our 4 year old son for his cleaning and check ups for two years. Everyone has been patient and kind to our sensory, sensitive child. His most recent visit, was a super successful one. Cleaning went smoothly, first time x-rays were given extra care and his dental exam ended in positive praises. Added bonuses with the game room before the appointment and prizes after the appointment.

Fantastic experience: Love how informed they keep me about the progress of my children’s teeth. Always ready to answer any questions I might have. All 4 of my children have seen Dr Byers and 2 have had success with braces 1 still going through it and the 4th getting ready to start her journey.

Sweet Olivia made Summer feel comfortable by giving her a balloon and showing her the BIG TEETH! Olivia was so patient as we took xrays! Made summer laugh! And doctor Miller was great with her as she worked smoothly and quickly, she went over everything with us! I highly recommend this office especially if you have a child that has doctor anxiety. Fantastic experience: When I tell y'all that Commonwealth Dentistry is TOP TIER Nathan's past dentist experiences before I discovered this place where very horrible. Like we were both just panicking and he was screaming the entire time lol. From the first time I brought him here, it's like a completely different child at the dentist. No anxiety, no nervousness, they are so amazing with kids, and we were in and out of there in 20 minutes with a very happy child and no cavities! He even said "I like them because they LISTEN to me" Highly recommend them!

Fantastic experience: I am happy patient of Dr. Dixon at Commonwealth Dentistry in Colonial Heights for adults, so I decided it would be easier and more convenient to change my son to the pediatric dentist which is next door. Yesterday was our very first appointment and I am sooooo glad that I changed to them. The dentist, Dr. Miller was amazing with my son and very welcoming, informing and just down to earth. Her and her assistant were super nice & relatable. We all laughed and were able to discuss the treatment plan with all my questions asked. It was not a rushed visit at all, which I experienced before at other offices. We had a good visit from the time of check-in to check-out. I highly recommend this dentist and look forward to our follow up appts with them. The office is new, clean and very high-tech and up to date for the kids. A mini arcade in the waiting room and even an iPad that sits up for them to watch while sitting in the dental chair. It was all round top notch!

Fantastic experience: My daughter is autistic and non verbal Olivia was the best with her! This was our first visit and everyone in this dental office was so nice. My daughter has sensory issues and they were so patient with her. The dentist was thorough and made her feel comfortable. She even gave the other hygienist a high five when we left. If your looking for a great dentist for kids this is the best place, and we have tried many different practices!

Fantastic experience: I love it here! I had a ton of anxiety about bringing my kids to a new dentist after having an awful experience elsewhere. Everyone here has been so kind and gentle! Also one of the ONLY places left to have a waiting room made for kids! I can't even find a pediatrician's office like that anymore. Also, one of my children has autism and they have done an excellent job taking things extra slowly and gentle with him, which was my biggest worry of all. 5 stars a thousand times!!

Fantastic experience: Wonderful experience here! I switched over to this practice, they were great with my child and made sure all my questions were answered. Showed genuine interest in what my child needed rather than the last place I went to which in comparison was wanting to do unnecessary things that were not. The whole reason why I came here and I am so glad I did.

Fantastic experience: It was my son's first dentist visit and they were so patient with him, and made it fun for him. He even got a certificate! Everyone was super nice and checking in was a breeze!

Negative experience: I am simply not happy with this place at all. We were so excited to be there at first. They have an awesome game room with games to play in the waiting room. Once we got to the back, (my 6 yr old daughter was scheduled for getting her single cavity filled) they rushed the process of her receiving her nitrous gas to help with the anxiety of being worked on. They pretended to be patient with her as my daughter got super nervous and anxious about being there. Usually my daughter is so outgoing happy and all around not shy at all. She was so nervous being here and they simply had no patience for her. Once my daughter refused to open her mouth for them to be able to start the process, they confused to try and kindly tell her to open it and explained why, but my daughter wasn’t responding to them because she didn’t trust them. Once they left the room, my daughter immediately let her guard down and opened her mouth for me, saying she’d try again. They returned and tried to force her mouth open. She was scared and refused to open it again. So they got “reinforcement”. They brought a third lady in the room and they all proceeded to hold her down and force her mouth open. The helper lady tried to shove the tool in her mouth that keeps her mouth open, but since she wasn’t willingly opening her mouth, it slipped down and hurt her gums. My daughter started crying as they continued to try and force her mouth open and force the tool inside. At this point I couldn’t watch her cry and be so uncomfortable any longer so I asked them to please stop. They had an attitude with me, were pretty rude and dismissive of our feelings. They left the room abruptly and said “we’d have to reschedule”. I had planned to being my daughter back to try again, but I decided I will not put her through that ever again. I will never bring her back here and I don’t recommend anyone to bring their child there if you’re child is any type of shy or nervous. They were impatient and rude. Very unprofessional. Not cool at all.

Fantastic experience: The ladies in this office, from the front desk to the hygienists to the dentist, are ALL so personable and friendly. I drive over 1 hour for my children’s visits and each time it has been a smooth, speedy (but not rushed) experience. The office is clean and VERY aesthetically pleasing. The check in process is quick and up to date. I do not feel like my young children are judged for their brushing habits. They are always encouraged by staff and given tips on how to be better without being shamed. Even if I found a dentist in my immediate area, I would still come here. 10 out of 10, definitely recommend !!

Fantastic experience: 5 star service!!! Take your child here! I admire Dr. D Miller so much! She has magnificent patience and a wonderful sense of humor, she’s knowledgeable and proficient! She is definitely a master of her skill! The facility is always clean, you get called back fast, and they have a nice game room. We get seen so fast I let my child play for about 5 mins afterwards.

Fantastic experience: I've tried three different dentists for my son, and this one is far and away the absolute best! The waiting room has multiple different arcade games for free, although you won't get much of a chance to use them because I've never had to wait more than a few minutes after my appointment time before being seen. The hygeniests are amazing, very kind and comforting to the children. Last time my son had a canker sore and the thing you bite down on to take an xray was hurting his mouth, so they brought in an extra hygienist to hold the "bite down on this" thing in his mouth so he didn't have to bite down. The dentist is incredibly knowledgable and kind, and they all do a great job of communicating with parents and patients throughout the process.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely love this office!! My kids are relatively new to the office but we've done dental emergencies and haven't had any issue being seen and treated. My kids love it there!!

Fantastic experience: Absolutely hate the dentist. When my 4 year old had to go the wife was not having it. The staff was amazing. The care the dental tech took with him was amazing and he was so comfortable with her. The Dr was to the point honest and took the time to answer my questions about his future care needed. Literally the only downfall which my understanding is standard practice is they sub out anesthesiologist and they don’t take insurance. From a business standpoint I get it, but proper dental care would be a bit more affordable todo. Still they deserve a five star from someone who doesn’t post reviews ever. Negative experience: We have been using Commonwealth dentistry pediatrics for years now. We started with Dr. Dixon and were very pleased with her. Since she retired, they hired Dr. Miller to fill her place. I Have not Been very pleased with her. She comes in the room ask how you are sits down and gets to work. She doesn’t explain anything to you prior to doing the work. Three times she’s had to give my daughter a shot in her mouth to numb. A shot is always going to have some kind of uncomfortableness to it. Some dentist have a sort of technique to ease the pain or distract . This is not a technique Dr. Miller seems to have. Each time she’s giving my daughter a shot. My daughter’s pain reaction has gotten worse. My daughter had to have a baby tooth pulled today. She gave my daughter the shot. My daughter started crying and kicking her feet and moaning in pain. Even after paying extra money to have nitrogen. I’ve always been complemented on how well my daughter behaves in the seat, tolerates discomfort. So to see, this was very upsetting. Dr. Miller is very quick to pull baby teeth, crown baby teeth. I Get the vibe that it’s more about money than if it’s really necessary. I will be look elsewhere Pediatric dental care services.

Dr Miller and the dental assistant were patient and encouraging AND waited patiently for the topical ?Novocaine to really work before they started injecting the area to really nunb him up. As we left, he said, "Mom, I never felt anything!' Finally!!! Thank you Dr Miller and staff for being patient, understanding, encouraging and for doing what you do, day in and day out! We had to switch her dentist due to insurance so I know it was a bit scary for her, but when I say Emma And Dr. Miller did an amazing job with her I mean I can't express it enough. Emma was so calm and took her time and made her feel so comfortable even when it took a couple tries to get my girl to cooperate. Both Emma and Dr. Miller were very sweet, relax, and comforting.
