Fantastic experience: I've always had the most incredible experience at dental associates never had a bad experience at all. I feel that when people write their reviews especially off of their opinions and feelings at the time of their emotion and don't write what actually really happened gives inaccurate informations and one side to the story it's not fair for the company, but still won't change my mind about coming to dental associates. I feel if I had a cavity or bad oral hygiene I would not be mad at anybody but myself.

Fantastic experience: My dental hygienist took her time on my teeth. Was not rough. Did not drowned me with the water pick! lol I told her I am fearful of the dentist chair but I was very relaxed under her care! Dr. Smith is AMAZING! I don’t feel the shots for the fillings. He is very calm. He didn’t rush. Took his time. I can’t say enough good things about him. I finally found a dentist I can trust and relax with. Thank you so much!

Negative experience: UPDATE #2: 12/9/2025 I want to update my review based on new information I learned after getting a second opinion at a different clinic. My very last communication from DA was something to the effect of, “Everything looks good, see you in six months.” That reassurance turned out to be inaccurate. At my second-opinion appointment, the new clinic informed me that the X-ray I received from DA was not diagnostically usable. It was blurry, taken at the wrong angle, and—most concerning—cut off before the gumline and bone. The hygienist explained that because the bone and periodontal structures were not visible, the X-ray could not be used to evaluate the areas X-rays are meant to show for periodontal disease or early bone changes. The new clinic performed complete diagnostics with new X-rays, photographs, and full periodontal charting. I was informed that I now require periodontal scaling and root planing (D4341) across multiple quadrants, which is only recommended when active periodontal disease is present. This work is extensive enough to require multiple visits totaling approximately four to four and a half hours, along with nitrous oxide due to the expected discomfort and inflammation. None of this was mentioned to me at my last visit at DA, and despite any prior findings they may have observed, I was still kept on a routine six-month schedule instead of the more frequent periodontal maintenance schedule this level of disease typically requires. I was also informed—for the first time—that one of my teeth has become slightly mobile. Tooth mobility usually reflects more advanced periodontal issues, and depending on how my gums respond to treatment, I may need referral to a specialist. This was shocking to hear after previously being told everything looked good. In addition to periodontal treatment, I was told I need a multi-surface composite restoration on a molar that is structurally compromised. This was not mentioned to me at my most recent visit at DA. Overall, the contrast between “everything looks good” and being diagnosed with multi-quadrant periodontal disease, a mobile tooth, a structurally compromised molar, and unusable x-rays has been deeply distressing. I’m sharing this update to accurately reflect my experience and help others make informed decisions about their dental care. - A patient who deserved better. UPDATE #1 - 11/24/2025 - I reviewed my dental records after filing my formal complaint with the Kansas State Dental Board, and the documentation only reinforced why I spoke up. I’m not sharing the details publicly — those go directly to the Board — but I want to reiterate why I’m being transparent about my experience here: Every patient deserves consent, respect, accuracy, and safe care. No one should ever feel rushed, dismissed, or unheard during a medical or dental visit. My goal in sharing this is simple: to protect others, to encourage patients to trust their instincts, and to make sure future care in our community is held to a higher standard. Thank you to everyone who has supported me, asked questions, or shared this post. Your voices matter more than you know. 11/21/2025 I’m sharing my experience as a former patient of Dental Associates with Dr. Jeff Smith D.D.S. because every patient deserves respect, consent, and comfort during their care. During my cleaning, the hygienist used an ultrasonic tool on me without my consent and continued even after I clearly said I didn’t want it and that it caused pain. I left feeling dismissed and unsafe, and that isn’t acceptable for anyone receiving healthcare. Because I believe patients should be heard and treated with care, I filed a formal complaint with the Kansas State Dental Board. Negative experience: Some of the worst dental work I’ve ever had done . Only reason I came here is cause my old dentist didn’t take my new insurance. I highly don’t recommend, but if you do end up going here you’ll see for yourself. Here’s an update 2025. All of my teeth the “dr” gouged into are cracking , I count a total of 5 gouges. The pain is horrible and just a very bad inconvenience to have to deal with.

Negative experience: A recent dental treatment resulted in a lack of professionalism and severe pain to my teeth. I don’t recommend that place.

Fantastic experience: Have to give a shoutout to Dr. May and her staff. Very friendly, never have I once ever felt uncomfortable or ever had a bad experience. They do great work and I couldn’t be happier with the work they’ve done so far and will continue to go there. Thank you ladies for your dedication to your work!

Fantastic experience: Dr Smith and staff are always so welcoming and friendly. He's always been very gentle. I've also seen Dr Clark and I've never had a bad experience.

Fantastic experience: I sat right down, Kathy was very friendly, not to go into details but, she started her charting and had my teeth more than have cleaned before Dr came to exam them. Before I knew it, she was polishing them My very easiest cleaning I have ever had. I have always had such a phobia of dentists since childhood Thank you Kathy!

Fantastic experience: Had no trouble getting an appointment to get my teeth cleaned. Very short wait in the waiting room good cleaning and the dentist came in and checked my teeth promptly. As enjoyable as a dentist appointment can be.

Fantastic experience: The young lady who cleaned my teeth and took trays was amazing, kind, and engaging. We visited about culinary favorites. Then, as always, Dr. May came in and finished the visit with her incrediblely awesome style. She makes going to the dentist a great thing. Thanks to all for a pleasant visit.

Fantastic experience: Receptionist was friendly and very efficient. My dental hygienist was friendly, professional, and very proficient. And my dentist was all three as well. They are always like that and that is why I keep coming back.

Fantastic experience: I cracked my tooth and was concerned about the possibility of it having to be removed. Fortunately, after thorough examination, Dr Smith assessed he could save the tooth, and worked diligently for two hours to remove the broken tooth and filling, build the tooth up by inserting pins, and lastly placing a temporary crown on my tooth. My husband and I both see Dr Smith, and we actually look forward to going to the dentist because of Dr’s easy-going, kind, warm, friendly, and caring personality, along with his excellent skills, techniques and professionalism! We feel blessed to have him as part of our health care team!!

Fantastic experience: It is always quick to get in when scheduled. Have never had an issue with any cavity fillings going bad. I have had to have them ground down a little bit they do a great job with the follow ups and getting that taken care of. Nothing bad to share.

Negative experience: Receptionist, very professional and kind and the. Dental hygienist was brief kind and to the point but very efficient. The doctor is always on time very kind and gave me all of my options and was wonderful and sweet as always. I’ve always gone there since I’ve been here in Wichita, Kansas, and would refer this practice to anyone.

Fantastic experience: My family loves Dental Associates! Today I ran into traffic delays on the way to my appointment and they were amazing. My dental hygienist and Dr. Smith are wonderful and very knowledgeable.

Fantastic experience: Amazing dentist office. Every hygienist I’ve had has been so gentle that it’s almost relaxing. I nearly fell asleep during my last two cleanings. They always slow down and answer any questions that I have. Dr. Smith is the same way. He always takes the time to be very thorough.

Fantastic experience: Dr. May has done a great job on my fillings. In the past, I’ve had some done by different dentists elsewhere, and more than once it was left rough or maybe had excess buildup left that I could always feel. With hers, I pretty much can’t even tell where they are. She also took care of a tooth that I hadn’t even asked about a filling on because a previous dentist said nope, you need a crown. But she took care of it. Very satisfied!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Carpenter and his dental assistant were great. They explained everything as they went as they prepared me for a new crown. From start to finish there was zero discomfort. They didn’t continually ask me questions or asked me for comments that they knew I couldn’t respond to While they were working on me. That’s something other dentist always seem to do that. Made no sense to me. I feel I’m very lucky to have Dr. Carpenter as my dentist. I had special circumstances and worked me in within a few days. There’s a lot of places that never happens.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been using a “Nite Protector” since they told me my teeth showed signs of me grinding (which my husband never complained of me doing that) or else clenching my teeth and I believe it’s helped. Dr May gave me a clean bill of health at my latest appointment. The dental hygienist cleaned my teeth thoroughly and sent me on.

Positive experience: I love the hygienist that is assigned to me! I love the cleanliness of the dental office and typically the efficiency. Tonight however I felt like I had to wait an excessive amount of time to get checked.

Fantastic experience: Lyly did a fantastic job cleaning my teeth with a new technique using water as she cleaned. She was very friendly and caring about my comfort (I've had three back surgeries and she suggested I scoot up so my back was in a more comfortable position). She's one of the kindest, sweetest people in the office that I've encountered as well as maintaining a professional manner. I want to continue seeing her every time I have my teeth cleaned. I've also been a patient of Dr. Smith's for 10+ years and enjoy having his as my dentist.

Fantastic experience: Lyly is a wonderful and knowledgeable dental hygienist. Dr. May was also very kind. I hadn’t been able to have my teeth cleaned in way too long but got it done today so I am very grateful. I need to go in next week for just a small filling and I’m not worried about it at all. Just glad to have a dental group who really make their patients feel comfortable and at ease.

I have never had a complaint or a concern. I have never had any dental issues or concerns. Every visit I leave knowing my teeth are thoroughly clean and no cavities. Fantastic experience: Jennifer was a great hygienist. I had zero pain during my cleaning and she thoroughly examined my dental issues I addressed with her. When the dentist came in to evaluate, she gave him a complete explanation of not only my concerns but other issues she found during her examination and cleaning. Great job all around. I don’t recall coming across a better hygienist.

Fantastic experience: My dad was the top dentist in Santa Cruz, CA for decades. I’ve lived in Wichita for 10 years and Dental Associates are the next best to my dad. Excellent in every way. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: Dr. May is so good at explaining all my options, she really listens and is willing to work with my choices for treatment. Leaving the final decision to me and in this case also dr. Gagnons recommendations. I know what ever choice I make it will be a difficult one but an informed one. Just when I think something is a little wrong, I start eating crow. I don't know how she does it, but she can diagnose my issue without me even being there. I think she must have psychic powers or something. She's just that good! Sooooo greatful!

Fantastic experience: My wife and I have going to Dental Assoc. since we moved from Arizona to Wichita almost 4 years ago. We find the office to be staffed with professionals who actually care about their patients. We have had checkups, cleanings, X-rays and Bridge-work done and our opinion of them and their quality work has not changed. They don’t try to “Up-sell” you. We are very satisfied with them and you will be too!

Fantastic experience: Lyly was amazing, she was so kind, careful, and gentle, I felt little to no pain at all when she was doing measurements and X-rays, which for me is unusual cause it involves a lot of poking, especially since I hadn’t been to the dentist since before COVID around 2019, she explained everything and was super patient with the questions I asked. The ladies at the checkout desk and intake desk were very helpful and got me in and out quickly during that process, and Jeff was great too, I think that’s his name he’s the doctor who evaluated my X-rays and photos to see what I need to get done.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a patient for 12 years. Within that 12 years, we’ve had no Insurance to Insurance and Dental Associates has always worked with us to ensure we’re welcomed, appreciated, and taken care of regardless of what our status is!

Fantastic experience: I got into my appointment on time. The young woman who cleaned my teeth was friendly, kind, gentle and did a thorough job. Dr. Clark came in to check things out took time to study the x-rays then let me know my options. Both of the ladies who checked me in and out were friendly and professional.

Fantastic experience: Due to a terrible car accident causing the lose of some teeth, I have had some bad dental experiences but Dental Associates changed all that. They calmed my nerves by listening to me boast about my grandbabies. They were informative, Calming, and gentle. I will be back!!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Carpenter is the best!! I love that they have late appointments for those of us with tricky schedules. They are always working with me on scheduling, even when I have a tooth emergency. Highly recommend
