Fantastic experience: I don’t know where to start the new management is A-1 this went from being my most hated dentist to my best dentist that doesn’t normally happen the Doctor here is phenomenal treats me like a human being a not a number does excellent work the management and team in place work together to customize your treatment plan and follows through. I’m not one for reviews, but they got me. The current management in place had a lot to do with it I couldn’t be happier thank you hillside family dental for all you do for me ! I recommend this office I went from having no hope for my teeth because I thought I was out of options because I let them get so bad and they fixed me up following my treatment plan and as long as you show up, they will get you to have a healthier smile thank you once again and all you do for the Wichita community - B

Negative experience: The staff at Hillside Family Dentist was friendly from the moment I walked in. Emma greated me with a smile. The dentist Dr. Doan is knowledgeable and made me feel at ease. The Office manager was kind and helpful, she got me get in same day with a toothache. Thank you Hillside Family Dentist. Unfortunately all the good service I received at Hillside Family Dentist was negated by Helen the office manager. I had a problem with a claim and she was busy visiting with other employees while on the call with me. She was very short with me and when I mentioned I had left a message for a call back two weeks ago she said "Well we can't help that, we are short handed" After talking to my insurance I found that the dentist wasn't in network and that is why my claim wasn't covered and I had to pay over $100 out of pocket for a tooth extraction. After twenty years of going to this dentist I am now searching for a new one.

Fantastic experience: It was such a great experience. I am scared of needles and objects that don't belong in my mouth, but they were very very good! When it started hurting while extracting my teeth, they would numb it more just so I didn't have to feel the pain. The doctor was steady with his hands and super efficient. The nurses and the manager is absolutely amazing! Couldn't ask for a better one! She worked with my insurance and gave me everything I needed with my insurance. Thank u guys so much! I will be returning and I highly recommend this place over any others in the Wichita area!

Fantastic experience: Been a while since I’d been to the dentist felt wanted and they made me comfortable I do suggest that if your looking for a dentist you choose them you won’t regret it they pulled my tooth out and now I can sleep at night without waking up at 3:00 with pain to the point where I can’t sleep I slept like a baby after it was extracted

Fantastic experience: The dentist is kind, personable, charming, and gentle. He sings along to the R&B/Soul tunes. (Be still my heart!) He talks about his wife and dog with sincere love and puts the patient to immediate ease. The dental hygienist is efficient, thorough, and entertaining. The professionals at the front desk cheerfully accommodate schedules and make sure that the patient pays as little as possible. They are up-to-date on insurance information and give sound advice on scheduling procedures. I cannot say enough, good things about Hillside Family Dentist. From the moment I arrived in the parking lot to the moment, I returned to my car I felt seen, heard, and respected—and was the recipient of expert dental care!

Positive experience: This was my first time with this dentist, I got one filling. He was quick and efficient. He actually held the topical numbing swab on my gum long enough for it to work, I didn't really feel the anaesthetic shot. I've never had a dentist do that in that way before and I really appreciated it.

Fantastic experience: Most gentle and compassionate staff and dentist I've visited. Very knowledgeable group! I feel certain my condition will resolved with there continued care. I let feeling soo much better . The office was really nice and comfortable also.

Negative experience: Told me I needed two root canals on my front teeth. And numerous cavities. They wouldn't let me leave without placing a appointment for my rootcanals. I didn't go to another dentist for 3 years because I was afraid. Well I went today to a different dentist. And had extensive xrays... and was told I did not need any root canals my roots were intact and healthy by looking only at the xrays he wouldn't of been able to tell which tooth was hurt in the past. And I dont have cavities. Goes to show. $ WAS ALL THEY CARED ABOUT.

Negative experience: 1 they don’t call customers back, 2 They must not send invoices out to customers. Called back like the office manager and was told she would call me back as she was with a customer. Gave my phone number and name and told the lady what I was calling about. 2 days later still no phone call. So my thought is they don't care. I'm sure it was all a misunderstanding but still if they can't call you back then my husband will have to find a new place.

Positive experience: I don't have dental insurance and am on a VERY fixed income. So I took out the in house plan they offered.(I did all this online).paid my 99 bucks and went to my appt the next day, I was then informed it was suppose to be 198 bucks. I was upset because this is VERY misleading I have a lot of fear of dentist in general never had a good experience when I did go. We altho worked it out and I was seen the girl that came into the room and did X-rays was so nice. The dentist was very straightforward and gave me options on what to do . ( Sorry I don't remember either of their names)Helen the office manager was awesome we were trying to go over those options and set up a plan but then her computer froze and she tried 4 different ones. So she said she would email me the prices of the plans so I could go over them and make a decision, but unfortunately I have NOT received them as of yet. I have a big thing coming up in November and I want to get this done asap.Hoping to hear from her soon. Even with the mishaps the visit in itself was a pleasant one

Negative experience: My dentist Dr Shaw per the employee was no showing all the time so he's no longer there. . My hygienist is gone also. Strange. Came in With a tooth ache and they wanted to pull it. Pass!! No longer a patient. Wouldn't recommend this dentist office anymore. Too bad. Used to be a good experience. People in the office were nice but complete turn over. Wonder why??

Negative experience: This place is a dumpster fire. Constant cancellations. Was billed for four bone grafts and they only did one, then they"adjusted" my account and gipped me out of several hundred dollars that should have been returned to me for those grafts that weren't done. Not to mention the constant revolving staff, I think I was seen by a new person every other visit. I couldn't even tell you the name of the last two. So incredibly disappointed in this office.

Fantastic experience: They are VERY thorough, I had been going to my previous dentist for over 15 years before he retired. When I got to Hillside Family Dentist I noticed a lot of thinks my dentist didn't do and this was only my first visit.

Fantastic experience: Came in with so many issues, started feeling like my mouth was at war with itself. After about 4 months of treatment Dr. Shaw had my mouth to a much more comfortable, ‘normal’ state. The Hygienist who did my disinfection procedure is absolutely lovely as well. I had Florida insurance and they were somehow in network so, they take all kinds. If you’re from out of state with out of state insurance, start here first.

Fantastic experience: Wonderful experience, professional staff (even for being short staffed), 10/10 would recommend. My wife didn't have insurance and was able to have an abscess removed and paid off with their personal plan. Again, absolutely professional staff.

Fantastic experience: Run a small business so I don’t have dental insurance went to another dentist and then an oral surgeon and finally came to Hillside. They treated me great got the issue taken care of. It was all painless Dr. Shaw. I hope I’m getting that right Was very friendly and got right on top of the issue I was having

Negative experience: I called and was made felt so stupid for inquiring about dental bonding, she acted like I was calling a dental office asking for a colonoscopy or something. Hung up and called dentist next door where I was treated with much more respect and knew exactly what I was talking about

Fantastic experience: They are so thorough and gentle. A 10. My former dentist said that I needed 12 fillings and one crown. Dr Shaw found that I needed two fillings and one crown. And Amy was so gentle. I'm so so glad that my cousin recommended them.

Negative experience: I LOATHE that I have to leave this review....But this dentistry screwed my life up. Stay with me here, they SWORE they were sensitive to those with dental anxiety. Being vulnerable here, because I want to let ppl know; I got my 'Dental anxiety' from an attempted murder with a sharp blade... HOWEVER, when I went in post letting reception know that my anxiety was serious, after they assured me this office would take it seriously as per mentioned on the website; I was LITERALLY violated. They had a fill-in dental hygienist who wanted to ensure she kept a good standing. I know this as an emotionally intelligent person who heard her go on and on about how we were running out of time, despite my telling her I'd already made sure prior to the appt that I had gas due to my anxiety. She'd strapped me up to a heart monitor and we waited.... An older white lady with brownish blonde hair came in and asked her qwhy she wasn't starting on me yet, to which she replied; "She's waiting for gas" (For a DEEP cleaning, mind you)....that woman rolled her eyes so hard I thought they'd go back in her head and never emerge, then exclaimed; "For a cleaning!!??". The sub then started scraping at my teeth, I was making all sorts of noise.... she kept saying, "Just a bit more, please, we're behind schedule"... Again; NOT MY FAULT, i let them know ahead of time my anxiety issue and I WAS TOLD, it wouldn't be a problem. I experienced a panic attack right there in the chair where she kept violating me with her sharp tools, so much so, she had the GAUL to say, "Oh wow, your blood pressure is really high! Is that normal?"... I tried to reply, but she had sharp objects in my mouth AGAINST MY CONSENT....and couln't talk." This was 2018, latest 2019....I now have cavities out the wazoo and horrific teeth pain. I am so IRATE I trusted the word of this facility.... Or I wouldn't have to deal with this pain. We have dental insurance for pete sake... This behavior....I should have reported it....But again, after being violated; all you want to do is forget. PLEASE do not visit this place if you have dental anxiety. Regardless of the happy family pics you see online; THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU. And now, who knows how much my teeth will be to fix. HOPEFULLY by someone who understands those of us with this anxiety have it for a GD reason! This was when I first moved to KS YEARS ago...

The Dentist and his assistant worked well together and both were very thorough. They let me know what the cost would be before the work was done. The front staff was very proficient. Positive experience: Laying in my bed writing this review while in slight pain but so very appreciative of Dr. Shaw and his team. From the start his receptionist listen to my complaint about a broken tooth l have been dealing with for a few years now but last year it got real bad and o texted. When I tell you this woman got me on the next day, and would have had me in same day had my schedule allowed. Dr. Shaw saw me and he was willing to extract that day but encouraged me to start some antibiotics and come back the next week. So here we are a week later and I’m sore from the procedure but the relief I feel is sooooo worth it. I’m amazed at how they can be quick, thorough, and ATTENTIVE! I’m one of those grown adults that’s scared of the dentist but you do not get that vibe from him or his assistants and hygienists, they’re great. I’m glad I called and made the appointment. I’m glad they took me in as a patient and I can’t wait to get back on a good dental routine with them. Thank you so much

Fantastic experience: I've had 2 teeth pulled in the last year with Hillside and I absolutely love them! The staff have been absolutely wonderful and I make sure my entire household goes to them!

Fantastic experience: If you're looking for a great atmosphere and staff that truly cares about the patients, this is the place. The staff is welcoming and do not judge anyone that walks in their doors. And then they work with you and/or your insurance to get you the care you need. No insurance? Ask about their annual plan that is affordable and allows you to get the regular, preventative care everyone deserves. I got my boyfriend in to get care when a tooth got infected, and despite how nervous he was, he felt so comfortable because of the staff. They even made me want to change dentists when I've been with mine for almost 6 years now.

Fantastic experience: I have not taken care of my oral health as I should of been over the years. And due to this I need a lot of work. I was extremely hesitant to go to my appt. Due to some of my own fears, embarrassed of the condition of my oral health, fears of sitting in the chair, of being judged, fear of pain, and staff not being gentle. BUT from the moment I entered the doors of Hillside Family Dentistry, I was welcomed with such warm smiles, answered my questions, check in was quick. And the dental hygienist, Aimee was PHENOMENAL ❤️ Thank you Aimee for your kindness and gentle soul! To Dr. Shaw,whom had been referred to me by my wonderful daughter in law, Sidney. Sid shared so many good things about Dr. Shaw. She knew my fears, knew I did not have good oral health, and told me numerous times that Dr. Shaw was the absolute BEST in dentistry. Fantastic experience: Accidentally chipped a tooth and went in Tues, they had availability that afternoon and I ended up scheduling the next day. Staff was very kind and helpful, answering any questions and concerns. Would definitely recommend and plan on visiting again next time the need arises.

Fantastic experience: I needed an appointment right away because of tooth pain. The receptionist Gayla was very intentive and so sweet and found a way to get me in. Although I was in so much pain, and crying The hygienist Amy and dental assistant Cori Was very attentive and had a very calming presence about then which really helped when I was feeling that way. I was 15 mins late and although i thought there was no way they were going to help me Dr.Shaw and his team stayed late just to make sure i was taken care of. I now have found my home dentist office ! I will forever be thankful for the Doctor and his team for the way they took care of me. I will be recommending my friends and family to hillside family dentist. The treatment plan showed me how much I owed after insurance would be billed. Now I have appointments to get the work done that I need. I have Medicare insurance (United) and they accept it. Fantastic experience: I had a bunch of anxiety about the whole tooth extraction process, but doctor Shaw and his fantastic crew made me feel immediately at ease.. we talked, had a few laughs, and then within 20 minutes, it was over.. I put this process off for years but it wasn’t bad at all, I’ll be getting another tooth pulled next week.. Hillside Dental Rocks!!

Fantastic experience: When I arrived found out, it was a mistake as my appointment was 2 days in the future. But, they worked me in ,helped me prep to the doctor. All were very courteous and helpful.. Dr Harris was very knowledgeable and explained what would take place and how it would and when it takes place. Office personnel then advised me of the service would cost and how they had contacted my insurance company and how much they would pay and reduce my cost which they reduced by a significant amount. I took care of all and was ready to start. Good experience.

Fantastic experience: Extremely friendly, knowledgeable, on time, & most of all informative and nonjudgmental. At no time did I feel I was being rushed or dismissed in any way. Would highly recommend this practice. The only drawback and this is in NO WAY their fault I just wished that perhaps previous patients or those who are fortunate would maybe set up sponsorships to help with the expenses. It's amazing what a healthy mouth and feeling like you can speak in public or socialize because you feel good about your smile and teeth can be. Perhaps we will get there someday.

Fantastic experience: I have a fear of dentists, thanks to dr. wakim I was really scared and I was crying while the dentist checked my upper and lower jaws.. Dr Shaw was very calming and explained everything he would be doing.. Dr Shaw was not the pushy kind.. I felt so much better after the doctor and staff were so very nice and calming.. I will return for Dr. Shaw to do implants after I'm done at Cottonwood Dental

Fantastic experience: Hillside family dental has the nicest staff the best numbing medicine and it was the most pain free dental visit ever I had the worst infected abcess tooth I was experiencing the worst pain. In the world like my nerve was in a vice!! I went to Hillside dental they had my in in 10 min or less started numbing me and pulled teeth gave me pain medication and the best part i experienced no pain at all during the procedure ! The best dentist I have ever been too hands down! Thank you Hillside dental
