Mountain State Oral and Facial Surgery - Kanawha City

Fantastic experience: The front staff are friendly and make you feel welcome. The nursing staff were awesome. They explained every procedure as they readied for your surgery, making you feel relaxed. I was asleep before seing Dr Henderson but I did meet him and asked questions over everything my consult. I was pleased about my choice.

Positive experience: Surgery was very fast and went well. The one employee that should’ve been the most compassionate wheeling my 12 y/o daughter out after anesthesia, was terrible. She didn’t show an ounce of empathy, care, or a good attitude. She was rude and pushy as well. Made a point to tell me she don’t know nothing about the area when I asked about pharmacy’s, and that I couldn’t get help from anyone else for a simple question. Quick to get us out her sight.

Negative experience: Literally waited 2 months for an appointment with them and they called me the week before to reschedule all the way in October.. save yourself the trouble and go somewhere where they actually care about the patients

Fantastic experience: Very professional and very nice they knew what each person role was and worked as a team I set down and then woke up didn't fill a thang thank you for a good job I'll hopefully be back for the last process for dentures I think they might be the team to be on again highly recommend

Negative experience: Sad that I’ve called multiple times in a day and not received any call back, all we’re needing is some information regarding a recent surgery, left multiple messages here it is several hours later and still no answers. I can watch paint dry quicker than the response time. Even if it’s a staffing issue I’d still think someone would see the voicemail in the system

Dr. Di Prisco was very caring and kind and he was finished with the procedure quickly and efficiently. Sarah was very helpful in getting the procedure scheduled and in helping during the procedure. Negative experience: I would advise against going here. In 2024, I went to get my wisdom teeth removed and 2 other teeth that couldn't be saved. However, the surgeon left roots in for a couple of the teeth, with the ones left in the front exposed (I can rub my tongue on them). I eventually tried going back later in 2025 to get the roots removed and some other work done, however when I got there, the surgeon who previously operated on me (why i would want him again is beyond me) was out for the day. So why on Earth was I scheduled to have work done if the surgeon wasn't going to be in? I wasted a day of PTO and so did my father so he could take me back home since I'd be too knocked out to drive myself home. The general incompetence with the scheduling, as well as leaving roots in that are exposed, are enough to drive me away and caution others to do the same. Hopefully it improves but I won't be going back to find out in the future.

Fantastic experience: I needed a fast appointment due to an upcoming surgery that has been scheduled for six months. They were able to get me in in less than a week for an extraction. The staff worked hard to get my insurance straightened out and let me know what my cost would be. Everyone was super friendly and knowledgeable. I loved my doctor and the nursing staff. I have major dental anxiety, and they all made me feel comfortable. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Wonderful experience despite my lifelong fears of dental procedures. The entire staff went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable and they answered all of my questions. They offer sedation options so I fell asleep and woke up what felt like instantly. Two days later and I’ve had surprisingly little pain or swelling! I’m so thankful it’s finally taken care of and I would absolutely recommend their office!

Positive experience: Doctors are great nurses as well was in and out quickly but some office staff member was very rude over the phone very unprofessional but most staff ate kind and very helpful just the one over all would recommend

Fantastic experience: The staff was very kind and patient. They answered all my questions. It was my second time having an extraction with them, and I will never go to another place. They ran through my allergies, my medications and my history multiple times just to insure they had all the information correct. I 100% trust this office to get the procedure done and done correctly fast and easy. They constantly made sure I was comfortable and just eased my anxiety with needles. They were so caring and treated me like I was someone of importance. They even called me that same evening to see how my recovery was going. My advice, if you worried about a tooth extraction or procedure; go to Mountain State Oral and Facial Surgery in Kanawha City. I promise you won't regret it.

Fantastic experience: Extremely helpful from start to finish. From medical staff to financial staff. A little busy when I got there on surgery day. Waited about 30 minutes past my appointment, which was no big deal. Surgical tech and nursing were great with getting me ready, answering all my questions, and keeping me calm. After that I dont remember much else! They called that afternoon to check on me and answer a few more questions that I had. All and all would recommend and use them again.

Fantastic experience: I had an appointment to have 6 teeth removed and work on the bone so that the particles will fit better at the Kanawha City location. I had a local anesthetic. This has been the best experience I had with a Dentist. Numbed up perfectly. They all done a great job. Even afterward, I have had little pain. I have not had to take any pain medication. No bruising. Mountain Oral in Kanawha City is amazing. Definitely will be referring them to others.

Fantastic experience: Let me start with Gina..most amazing, kind, caring woman and I appreciate her more than she will ever know!! Lilly the nurse was very kind and gentle, and I believe Courtney was my other nurse. She did all of my paperwork and she was the sweetest. She saw me crying and assured me it would be okay. The billing lady, extremely helpful and kind as well. The lady that did my ex-ray, was nice as well. I just cannot say enough kind things about the staff I dealt with. Big hugs to all of the staff! Thank you for actually caring for me and taking care of me through this procedure ❤️

Fantastic experience: Okay, this is gonna be a long one people. So buckle up. I have extreme dental trauma, when I was six a inexperienced dentist, did a tooth extraction and when I say it was like a the movie Saw, it was horrific and for 22 years, I have been absolutely traumatized for dentistry so when I found out that I had to have multiple teeth pulled along with my wisdom teeth all of the alarms in my head were ringing for days. I was having panic attacks I was expecting to have to repeat what I experienced. I was shaking so badly going in and the staff were amazing if I ever have to have dental surgery done again I will absolutely come back here. To anyone who has a horrible fear that is debilitating.These people are the absolute best to go to I have zero pain next day, like absolutely nothing. Even when I woke up from surgery being done zero pain, I felt nothing. I also remember nothing from the surgery itself, so I got my wish.The last thing I remember going under was I said something a little embarrassing and then the next thing I knew it felt like two heartbeats passed and I was waking up and being put in the arms of my husband and it was fantastic. Then after that, I don't remember anything until I got home. Also, next day, zero swelling or bruising.You do not look like the people on tiktok. Which is the absolute best you can expect! I cannot praise these doctors enough and the nursing staff. From one person who has extreme anxiety to the other. You are going to be okay. I promise you; you are going to be okay. Do not listen to anyone else I know what it's like to be horribly terrified and this place will absolutely make those feelings go away. I cannot say thank you enough. For my fantastic service and the kindness that I was shown and the speed in which it was done my husband said it was 20 minutes total it was done excellently!

Fantastic experience: From the moment I walked into the facility, I was greeted warmly and the staff were professional in all their interactions with their patients. At no point did I feel neglected. When I went to the surgical room everything that was going to happen was explained completely. The nurse was pleasant and professional. The dentist came in and numbed my mouth. During the whole process both nurse and dentist made sure that I was not in any pain. I highly recommend MSO for any work needed on your teeth.

Fantastic experience: I recently had my 2 bottom wisdom teeth removed. The nurses were amazing and the surgeon was equally as great. They made me aware of everything before I was put under anesthesia and all directions for post op care are stated very clearly on the papers they give you. I would recommend doing all of your registration online to save you time in the waiting area. The office even called me later in the evening to check on me and ask if I had any questions. Recommend for sure!

I got three wisdom teeth and a fourth broken tooth removed. The staff is friendly and comforting. I wish I knew the one girl's name I spoke to the most, she's a gem. Fantastic experience: Had a very pleasant experience, and I am terrified of dentist, I've never been to surgeon but I opted to go to sleep. The best decision ever, if I could get knocked out for ever procedure I would I was treated wonderfully from the receptionist to everyone that worked on me I had an wisdom tooth pulled and an extraction, I was only there around 20 mins once they took me back (from what my ride said don't remember much after they covered me up, because I was wet and cold) My ONLY complaint was the parking my ride was handicapped and parking was in the back, it was a monsoon of rain when we got there. So if your handicapped you need to be let off at the door, I didn't know that or I would have dropped her off

Negative experience: Never called me about my initial referral from my dentist. Which was sent in back in November of 2024, had to sit with this rotting tooth for 4 months. Wasn't until I offered to pay them cash that they even got me an appointment to have my tooth cut out. Pain management after surgery was a joke and I'm going to have a permanent scar from them slicing my lip during the surgery. I'd take your business elsewhere. This is the second bad experience I've had here. If you must go here a word of advice. Make sure you go over your list of medication the doctor is planning to prescribe you, because once you're out that door and the check has cleared they feel you are no longer their problem.

Fantastic experience: This was the start of my journey with Mountain State. Two teeth extracted in route to implants next year. The extraction step was professionally done. No wait time in the lobby, staff was helpful and knowledgeable. Explained the process and the cost. The surgeon knew what he was doing. I didn't enjoy the day ... I had 2 teeth pulled out of my mouth ... but Mountain State did a good job. Feb 17 ... appt. for implants following extractions. Appt. was scheduled for 7:30am. I arrived at 7:25 and checked in at the reception desk. At 7:30am I sat down in the dentist chair. Very surprised. The staff was ready and prep'd me for the procedure immediately. Dr. Henderson came in and numbed the area. Ten minutes later the Dr. came back and installed 2 implants. I walked out the office door and to my truck BEFORE 8:00am! I'm still impressed. Everyone was professional and friendly. Very positive experience.

Negative experience: Was scheduled for surgery to have 3 teeth removed under sedation. My first appointment was rescheduled from 730am to 900am. Went to the office in Kanawha City where I was scheduled at 900am and was turned away due to the doctor not showing up because of the weather (rain). Was rescheduled again for about a week later. The day before the appointment, I get a call that the doctor was not going to be in because they were calling for snow. So I was rescheduled again for the following Thursday. I get a call that my father is going to have emergency bypass surgery on the day of my surgery and I call the office to reschedule and got discharged from the office all together because I didn’t give a 24 hour notice. When I asked about all the times they had rescheduled me I was sent to the supervisor who was very rude when answering the phone and told me I would need to go elsewhere because they weren’t going to reschedule me. I tried to explain to her that there was an emergency with my father and she was very disrespectful and said that she couldn’t help what the policy stated.
