Negative experience: I had a bad experience today with Dentist Shwetha, she denied me cleaning service because i was not agreed to what she recommended and took me off form the chair where we wait for cleaning service. As a dentist they recommend 10 things to do,but as a patient its my right to accept or deny any of the services,but she want money so she was forcing me to go for a service where i have to pay 100$ out of pocket and i denied it, and she didn't like it and she denied regular cleaning service also. I do not recommend this place and i'm not going again to this location

Negative experience: DO NOT COME HERE, GO ELSEWHERE!!!!!!! I came to Valley View Dental in Manteca because of the overwhelmingly positive reviews, I don’t understand how this place maintains such a high rating until i realized they ask family & friends to make up. I went in for a basic cleaning and check-up. I take good care of my teeth and have never had cavities. From the moment I arrived, the environment felt unprofessional. The front desk staff were young girls, dismissive, and more focused on laughing among themselves than helping patients. There was little sense of organization or care. During my appointment, I was shocked by the lack of basic hygiene. Staff touched dirty computer screens and equipment and then put their hands back in my mouth without changing gloves. It made me extremely uncomfortable and concerned about sanitation. There was also no privacy chairs inside of the dental room were placed so close together that you could clearly see and hear what was happening with the person next to you. The dentist himself spent only a minute or two examining me before leaving. The rest of the work was done by assistants who appeared inexperienced and rushed. Everything felt half-done and careless. It also appeared to me that the dentist I saw was the son of the older dentist who originally established the practice. He was very young and seemed inexperienced, which made the rushed nature of the exam even more concerning. As a patient, it did not feel reassuring or thorough, especially in a setting where you expect professional oversight and careful evaluation. What disturbed me most was how fear was used to push me toward unnecessary and extremely expensive care. I was told that my wisdom teeth were “impinging on a vein or nerve” and that this was serious and potentially dangerous. The language they used made it feel urgent and alarming, as if something was very wrong. They insisted I needed a specialized head CT scan before anything could be done. When I asked where I would be referred, I was directed to another INDIAN doctor in another city and told it would cost thousands of dollars out of pocket. When I asked if a hospital scan or a more affordable option could be used, I was told no that it had to be done through this particular provider. The entire situation felt like a setup: exaggerating a problem, instilling fear, and funneling patients to a “partner” office that profits from the referral. It did not feel like medical guidance- it felt like a business transaction disguised as concern. Later, when I went to a more established and professional dentist for a second opinion, I was told everything was normal. I had my wisdom teeth removed without complications and without any expensive CT scan. Nothing about my case was “serious” or dangerous. Looking back, it felt like a scheme designed to scare patients into paying for unnecessary procedures through a closed network of referrals. That alone destroys any trust in this office. A healthcare provider should prioritize patient well-being, not inflate risks to generate profit. Shortly after visiting this office, I became severely ill with mono. I had been healthy all summer, stayed at home, and then suddenly developed extreme symptoms - swollen lymph nodes, inability to eat, vomiting, and eventually hospitalization after being misdiagnosed and reacting badly to antibiotics. The timing combined with the lack of sanitation I witnessed has stayed with me and deeply unsettled me. The timing of everything and the only exposure I could get from mono I very strongly believe, I contracted it from this dirty place. This experience affected my health and peace of mind for over a year with doctors visits and health I lost count of because of the mono. Between the hygiene issues, lack of professionalism, rushed care, and fear-based recommendations, I would strongly advise others to seek a more reputable, professional dental office. Your health is not something to gamble with, I unfortunately learned that the hard way. Go somewhere that treats you with care, respect, and transparency.

Fantastic experience: I just want to say, from start to finished, I had a really good experience. When I called to to schedule an appt because my bridge came off, I was able to get seen the same day. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. The two doctors who worked on me was great. The main doctor listen to my pain and concerns and the other doctor who worked on my root canal was quick. The assistant, Ms. Vong was sweet, knowledgeable, and very friendly. She took her time to explained things to me before when doing anything. Overall, I highly recommend this place. This place is clean, staffs are friendly and knowledgeable. Plus, its by a lot of stores which I really like.

I asked for an alternate method to injection numbing and i almost had no pain during my cleaning very mild discomfort. I look forward to returning here again for my cleanings! Thank you ladies! Negative experience: Absolutely Horrible Experience – Extremely Disappointed! I have never left a dentist feeling so disgusted and disappointed. I’ve been to this office four separate times, hoping each visit would improve — but every time was the same awful experience. They put this thick, gross gunk on your teeth during the “cleaning” and don’t even bother to rinse or polish it off like every other dentist does. You leave with your mouth feeling grimy instead of clean. I actually spoke with 3 other patients in the lobby who said the exact same thing — their teeth didn’t feel clean after their visits either and they were left with that stuff on their teeth that took 3 to 4 days to brush off. The young girl who flosses your teeth don't even slide the floss between your teeth — it’s like they’re just pretending to do a cleaning. Every dentist I’ve ever had before (in the Bay Area) has told me I have great teeth and good flossing habits. But this place tried to tell me I needed a deep cleaning — which turned out to be completely untrue. I went to another dentist afterward, and they confirmed that my gums and hygiene were perfectly fine. To make things worse, when I asked for my X-rays so I could transfer to another dentist, they charged me $25.00 to release them. That was the final straw. My extended family also went here, and they had the same terrible experience — and was ALSO were told they needed unnecessary deep cleanings and left with their teeth with that gunk on them. They also left this dentist and had to pay for their XRays to go elsewhere I genuinely used to enjoy going to the dentist, but this office completely changed that. Save yourself the frustration and go somewhere that actually cares about your comfort and your teeth.

Negative experience: Our experience with this office and its other location has been deeply frustrating. My mother has been in treatment since early this year and is still experiencing significant pain, despite having paid nearly $18,000 out of pocket so far, not including added fees for X-rays, in a span of 3 months. What's even worse than the lack of results is the way we've been consistently treated by the staff with rudeness, hostility, and unprofessionalism at nearly every step. From the beginning, which was since last year, the staff felt cold and unwelcoming. Over time, it became clear the behavior was outright standoffish, dismissive, and sometimes aggressive. Hoping for better service, we transferred to the Stockton office, but unfortunately, the tone was similar. While the Stockton front desk seemed more composed, the finance woman immediately questioned why we were switching locations and was confrontational from the start. Very odd. We simply said we preferred this office, but she seemed irritated. At that point, it became obvious this wasn't just a one-time issue. The aggressive tone is a pattern across both offices. Throughout our time at both locations, we've been met with dead stares, uncomfortable mood swings, and behavior that's difficult to predict. Staff often respond defensively when I ask basic questions, like requesting dental records, which I only did once, and they take things personally when I follow up on treatment. Just trying to get one form of documentation about my mom's care has been exhausting. The lack of communication has gone on for months. Dr. Cheema originally seemed helpful. He explained that my mom's previous dentist had done poor work that caused complications, and that his treatment plan would fix the damage. So his treatment was due to improper treatment from a previous dentist, according to him. We appreciated his willingness to help. At a follow-up visit on May 13th, when I asked if he could provide a letter outlining his findings, his tone completely changed. He became avoidant and dismissive. He brought up his belief in God, which would normally imply honesty and integrity, but his behavior was actually dishonest and unethical. Despite invoking God, he made it seem like I was being dishonest for simply requesting the letter. It felt manipulative and backwards, like he was trying to avoid accountability by twisting the situation against me. After some back and forth, he agreed to provide the letter but we've never received it. I've followed up by email and phone multiple times with no response. When I called again today, I was met with hostility and pressured speech. I politely asked about the letter and was snapped at with "What about it?" before being talked over and hung up on with a sarcastic "byeeee." I called back to report the call and was met by another staff member who laughed, gave slurred responses, and offered no help. I work in the medical field and I've come to a very unsettling realization today after the terrible experience over the phone: this kind of behavior isn't normal unless there's something more going on, whether it's substance use, unmanaged mental health, or a personal issue they have with us, it's completely inappropriate and unprofessional. Several staff members show signs of being under the influence while on the job. This includes conjunctival injection, pressured or slurred speech, mood swings, aggression and defensiveness. These are not traits of sober professionals. It feels unsafe especially for people like my mom and I. It would explain why we leave most calls and visits feeling shaken, confused, and disrespected. Also, requesting the findings of a dental visit is a patient's right under HIPAA, and withholding them is a clear HIPAA violation, especially since it has now been more than 30 days since my request. It is concerning why the information is still being withheld. I'm also beginning to wonder why there has been no email communication, which would create a clear record.

No one compares! ------- Update: June 11, 2025 Dr. Swetha is exceptional. However, the front office is terribly disappointing - I had a family emergency and had to cancel "the same day." I texted the office and the reply was, I quote: "Okay will you like to reschedule? for future please notify us within 48 hours of your apt we will not charge you this time but if you cancel same day again we will have to apply a same day cancellation fee of $35." How rude and inconsiderate! My nephew ended at the ICU and brother-in-law died in a car accident. That was the family emergency. But, instead of asking about it or wishing me well - I got this rude reply. The appointment was only for "teeth whitening!"

Fantastic experience: So happy we found this place. Super gentle, quick, efficient and thorough. My son had a root canal done and did not feel any pain. The Dr. took such great care of him and made sure he was comfortable the whole way through. We will definitely be back for any dental work in the future.

Fantastic experience: UPDATE: Now they deserve my 5 starts. They fixed the speaker mentioned below!!! Good service and lovely staff. There is however a minor thing (nothing to do with dentistry) that really bugs me and I have told the several times and after a year and a half it is still there. One of the speakers above the reception area is blown and any music with some bass, produces a very annoying tapping and reverberating sound. Not anymore. LOL.

Dr. Melhem and Dr. Grewall were so incredible with their knowledge. I'm telling you all, if you are looking for the MOST fantastic dental office, the voyage is OVER! YOU'RE HERE!

Negative experience: all the girls at the front talk bad about you as soon as you go to the back to be seen. they also loudly discuss what you’re getting done and judge you. it’s really unprofessional i’m glad i don’t go here and was just waiting for my bf in the waiting area.

Negative experience: I’m not sure how they have such positive reviews. My husband went in as a new patient to get a cleaning and left feeling unsatisfied with the quality of their work. Secondly, they pushed him to get Invisalign for his near perfect smile many times after declining. After X-rays he was told that he had three cavities that needed fills. Due to the overall vibe he was getting we decided to get a second opinion, surprise, no cavities. Lastly, we’ve gotten a letter in the mail that they maxed out our insurance off of one appointment because of the X-rays. If I could leave zero stars I would.
