Fantastic experience: Next level team here! They have been in The dental world for so long you can just feel the great care they offer for your whole health. The moment you walk in till you schedule the appt. To come back Lacosta Dental Excellence is going to give you the quality care you deserve and results for a bright smile!! I scheduled as soon as I was checking out. Have you schedule a consult or cleaning? I had a cleaning on my first visit. And I have scheduled an appointment to replace an old filling. Looking forward to my next visit their hygienist was phenomenal. Her name is Tania. Dr. C was my dentist. She just makes you at ease in the chair. I have a fear when in the dental chair she was so clear with her explanation I made my appointment same day for a couple weeks when my schedule allows. Great office if you haven't scheduled with them you are missing out on quality dental office that really cares for your dental needs. I'm not going anywhere else.

Fantastic experience: We just moved to Carlsbad and needed new dentist. Kim is a neighbor and we heard good things about the practice. I was able to get an appointment within a few weeks. The staff is very friendly yet professional. Stacey is my hygienist. She is a delight to be with and what is usually an unpleasant experience was not. She is thorough and explained everything she wanted to do before doing it. I felt very comfortable in her good hands. Kim spent time with me as well and was equally pleasant and professional. I recommend this office highly to anyone needing dental care.

Fantastic experience: I accidentally came to this office and I’m so glad I did! I was greeted by the wonderful front desk staff, and then Stacy (hygienist). Stacy was very inquisitive and tailored her care to ME. With her gentle approach, she educated me and left my mouth very smooth and clean. 10/10. She also let me know about her history at the office, how the team sends her for trainings often and how she gets cool new gadgets that help make her job easier while upholding the same standards— no wonder why she’s been there 20 yrs!!!! Then I met Dr. Dankworth? Dr. D for sure. He is very personable, very factual, uses x-rays and pictures to show you evidence on why he is recommending treatment. He is not pushy. I love his mentality of catching things early while they’re still a small problem. He numbs very well (5 hrs later I barely feel my mouth again), and he works efficiently. His energy and the culture there felt honest and simple. Their dental assistants are hard workers, and know their doctors well— keeps them going. I can tell they operate from their values of honesty, beneficence & patient autonomy. Their recommendations are nothing fancy, just preaching good ol’ daily habits. The building itself is very clean and massive with updated technology. If you don’t come here, you’re dumb.

Each procedure has been handled with care and precision, and the results have consistently been excellent. The supporting team is just as impressive. Many of them have been there a long time, and it shows. They’re professional, organized, and know their patients well. Coming from a sales background, I value consistency and strong customer service, and this office delivers on both. They understand patient needs, communicate clearly, and are mindful of costs. They also do a great job helping navigate and push through insurance claims, which can be daunting. If you’re looking for high-quality dental care or considering cosmetic work, I’d strongly recommend scheduling a consultation. They’ve earned our trust over two decades, and that’s not something we take lightly.

She explained everything they were doing, checked in with me throughout the cleaning, and made what’s usually a stressful appointment feel genuinely comfortable. Fantastic experience: After recently moving to CA, a friend recommended La Costa Dental Excellence. I could not be happier with Dr. Stephen Dankworth as my new dentist and the practice in general. After a thorough evaluation, Dr. Dankworth explained what treatments he would recommend and I had a few followup treatment visits to complete what was needed. I could not be more pleased with this entire process. I felt as if I was being treated as a person, not just as a dental patient, by Dr. Dankworth, his assistants, and the hygienist who did a phenomenal cleaning at my initial visit. I have moved many times and have used many dental practices all across this country, and I can honestly say that the quality of dental work Dr.Dankworth and his colleagues provide is truly "excellent" and I would recommend it highly!

Negative experience: New patients beware! Avoid La Costa Dental Excellence. I specifically asked if they accepted my insurance and was told yes. They failed to clearly disclose that they were out of network. I was given a written treatment estimate, which I signed and still have, and then was billed hundreds of dollars more than the agreed amount. Not a small adjustment. Hundreds more. They continue sending bills despite the fact that I would never have proceeded had I known the true cost. The dental work was just as alarming. A filling was done so poorly that I had to return three separate times for bite adjustments, and it was never corrected. I stopped going back because I had completely lost trust. I have since been told the tooth has extensive nerve damage and calcification, and that I will eventually need a root canal because of their shoddy work. To make matters worse, they told me I had additional cavities that needed fillings. A second opinion confirmed I do not. Between the misleading insurance information, massive overcharges, and questionable diagnoses, this experience has been costly and deeply frustrating. Get a second opinion before letting them touch your teeth.
Fantastic experience: On the first appointment they will scare the crap out of you about not flossing that it causes gum diseases, digestive issues, and cancer. I was scared and started flossing and water piking which I hadn't done in 41 years. My guns used to bleed terribly. Now they mostly don't. They really care about your health. (Don't take the fear the wrong way, it is done out of care.) They truly care about your systemic health, not just your teeth. Hope this helps.

Negative experience: Very bad experience and cost me a lot of money, pain and suffering over several months. I am a retired lady in my late 70s. I knew the tooth, molar, was infected and I wanted it removed. Dr Dankworth talked me into root canal, crown, deep cleaning and appointments one after an other and thousands of dollars spent. I went to an other dentist who finally extracted it. And I did not have periodontal disease.
Fantastic experience: I cannot say enough great things about La Costa Dental Excellence, especially Stacey. For years I’ve been dealing with gum disease without knowing it. It was never brought to my attention from previous dentist. I recently moved to the area and started going to La Costa Dental Excellence. After diagnosing me with gum disease, Stacey took the time to perform testing and helped identify a specific bacteria in my gums that has been linked with brain fog, a condition I had been dealing with for years but never understood the cause. After a few deep cleaning sessions and following the detailed home care routine Stacey created for me, my gum health has improved dramatically and the brain fog is completely gone. The difference has been life changing. I am able to fully focus during my work and home life. Stacey is knowledgeable, passionate, caring, and incredibly thorough. I am truly grateful for her expertise and for the entire team at La Costa Dental Excellence. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Corrigan and the team at La Costa Dental Excellence are truly the best. I had serious dental anxiety before coming here and have difficulties with TMJ disorder and a bunch of things. I have come so far over the years with being comfortable with treatment because I know I can trust them. They take it slow with me, explain everything, give me breaks, and use the best and latest technology. Just yesterday I had to have an emergency crown replacement and I did the procedure on the spot with no nitrous or anything!
