Fantastic experience: Dr. Bowers has been taking good care of my teeth for 6 or 7 years. That includes installing a crown. He has also graciously attended to a couple of minor flare-ups, such as a stuck and irritating food particle. He has excellent staff, and I have experienced gentle, skilled attention on every visit. I would not hesitate to recommend him to a friend or family member.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to Safe Harbor Dental for 3 years. We moved to the Olympia area and I needed to find a dentist. Due to an emergency dental situation my son had, I took him to Safe Harbor because it was close to our house and I liked the name . The staff was friendly and provided great patient care. As most people, I'm always nervous about going to the dentist but Dr. Bowers is excellent!! His staff is wonderful! So if you are looking for a new dentist, check Safe Harbor Dental out!

Negative experience: I feel it’s important to share my experience for anyone considering this office. The quote for a crown was less than the other dentist I had seen and they had exceptional reviews (I later learned that most of those reviews are for Dr. Banner, the previous dentist at Safe Harbor) so I made the appointment. I got a text asking for a review after the initial consultation. I’m so glad I waited to see what I was reviewing. If it’s not a Google review, it can’t be edited or taken down. Beware! At first, Dr. Bowers seemed relaxed and calm, but after a few minutes, he became visibly hurried. Overbooked? He did the tooth prep and buildup (which I was told wasn’t needed in the estimate, took 3 minutes, and added $300+ to my bill) and the assistant, Kimberly, was left to finish the procedure, unsupervised. She struggled to pack the cord and ended up placing the temporary crown backwards. When I asked her how long she had been there, she responded, "3 days" and I was sent home without Dr. Bowers checking her work. When I returned to have it fixed the next morning, even the assistant admitted it had been placed incorrectly and tried to take it out without anesthesia before Dr. Bowers came in. Ouch! The permanent crown also doesn’t fit well and has a noticeable ledge confirmed by another dentist, which could cause gum problems over time. I will most likely have to have the whole procedure re-done and spend another $2K because of this. I’ve been in five times, paid $1,858 plus another $96 for another dentist to confirm what I already suspected. The office communicates through a regular, unsecured Gmail account, which is not HIPAA compliant and doesn’t protect patient privacy. I’ve requested my records three times in the past two weeks, but have gotten no response. This is my 5th crown and never have I had an issue before this. I wish I’d trusted my instincts and gone elsewhere. If you value accuracy, professional supervision, skilled staff, and secure communication, I would recommend choosing another dental office.

Fantastic experience: As someone who hates going to the dentist, Safe Harbor Dental makes the experience enjoyable. The front gals at the front desk are sweet, funny, knowledgeable, and efficient. All of the people who worked in my mouth were just as amazing. From imaging, to inspection, talking to the dentist, cleaning, and polishing, everyone was kind and made my time there much more pleasant than I initially expected.

Negative experience: The front desk staff are very inconsistent. They canceled my appointment without telling me and spoke with someone else regarding my health care, likely mixing up my information with another person's. They also double charged for one procedure, messing up my insurance coverage and charging me double. While the dentist himself is great I can't tolerate the rest of the staff's incompetence.

Negative experience: This place hurt me. I came in for an extraction on two bottom wisdom teeth when only one was bothering me. They worked on the one that wasn't a problem yet. Super unprofessional. They stabbed through my lip with the numbing needle when numbing the tooth for starters then proceeded to make me leave with my tooth only partly done and all messed up. Seems super uncompassionate and annoyed and in a hurry. I left worst than when I went in. Horrible care. Horrible experience. I trusted them for help and they let me down.

Fantastic experience: 10/10 experience. Needed an urgent procedure and was met with compassion from everyone in office. Dr. Bowers provided the best care I’ve had in decades and walked me through every step of my root canal procedure / temporary restoration of my front tooth. Looks beautiful and the procedure was gentle. I could tell he was confident and demonstrates integrity in his work. I don’t have nice teeth but I’m on a journey to getting there and Safe Harbor welcomed and prioritized my needs effortlessly. Great work from a great team.

Fantastic experience: ANGELA IS AMAZING! I was urgently looking for dental care for my son as he broke off half of a front tooth. Our insurance was not accepted here but Angela took it upon herself to call a couple places that she thought accepted our insurance and that could help. We were able to get in elsewhere right away, thanks to her. She could have just simply told me “No, sorry we do not accept your coverage”. Which in all honesty is what I expected. Absolutely amazing!!! Thank you so much Angela! You definitely went above and beyond!!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Bowers and his team are incredibly good at what they do. I have been a patient of theirs for about 5 or 6 years. I am moving to Florida next month, but if I could afford to fly back up to their office in Tumwater each year for my care I would do it. They are true professionals who care about you and your teeth and making sure the dental visit was as comfortable as possible. Take it from me.....I am a huge baby when it comes to going to the dentist. I give them the highest of recommendations.

Negative experience: Left me on hold for an hour and I only had one question but the front desk didn’t even give me a chance to say anything before putting me on hold. Asked if I could be put on hold and then just did it. Supper rude if you ask me it would’ve taken one minute to answer my question I was just wanting to know if they accepted my insurance.

He is also gentle which is important to me! The dental care is excellent. Everyone is welcoming & friendly. If I have to be at a dentist, this is the place! Give them a try.

I was really nervous to find another dentist, since like most people, not my favorite place to go. Kind and considerate treatment from the office team began from the first call to waiting in the treatment area. They checked in often to ensure my comfort, as they were a little busier than usual. It’s apparent that this practice is very patient focused. Dr. Bowers has an excellent energy, was able to quickly fix my broken tooth and I didn’t experience any discomfort during the entire treatment. After experiencing severe pain from a tooth ache for days and not being able to get into see a doctor, I couldn’t wait another day, I found Dr. Bowers’ office on Google and I called them at 7 am and had my emergency root canal at 7:45 am, the SAME day. Negative experience: Generally I don't like to leave negative reviews but I feel that this one is justified. I called to get set up as a patient and was asked about my insurance. I informed the somewhat rude sounding receptionist that I had Delta Dental, but when I didn't know my exact group I was told to send a picture of my insurance card via email to them. That alone wasn't too much of an issue, but not getting a response back is. There is a large sign in front of your building that reads "Now Accepting New Patients". I called and was greeted by a rude receptionist, was told to send a personal document via email, and never received a response. I am now a patient of Tyee Dental instead.
