Fantastic experience: Dental hygienist Alandra, Ms. Cindy who handles the cleanings, and orthodontist Dr. Fathi are always friendly and efficient, with wonderful bedside manner.

Negative experience: I got braces done at Monarch Dental and I will say the Dr was very spot on with getting my teeth flawless. However, I showed up for my 1030 appt to get my braces taken off and they didn't call me back until 11. I had to come back by 1:30 just for my bottom retainer to not fit which made me have to come back a THIRD time at 3 pm (the time they told me), just for them to tell me they hadn't had time to "cut" the retainer in between patients leaving me waiting until almost 4 pm to be called back. I have spent all day at this establishment where no one seems to have a sense of urgency or reverence for one's time. I am satisfied with the outcome of my teeth but EXTREMELY DISSATISFIED with the complete disregard for my time every time I come. I will not recommend Monarch Dental to anyone.

Negative experience: I was pleased with friendliness from the staff but was disappointed that I paid for my crown to be put on temporarily while I would get them permanently done the following week, I called them back to tell them that it fell off again within 2 hours after placement and would like a refund on it and would just wait till next week without chewing on that side till i would get them replaced and they refused to give me my money back cause it was only temporary. So I canceled my appointment due to them not being able to guarantee their work when i'm paying a lot of money for them.

Scam artists.

Negative experience: Avoid the Monarch Dental office in the Forum in San Antonio. They first called to reschedule because of staffing no-shows. At the appointment, after waiting for over an hour, a foreign dentist (whose own assistant had trouble understanding) tried to sell me a plan costing over $8K just for 3 fillings and 2 crowns. The "deep" cleaning alone cost over $1,800.00.

Negative experience: The xray tech and hygienist were kind. The billing practices are borderline predatory. Went in for a standard cleaning. Was recommended (key word) that I get the deep clean. She comes back to review the cost before we start and says that it will be almost 1000. I tell her no thank you, I want the standard cleaning (the one fully covered by insurance). She now says I can't get that anymore because the dentist recommended the deep clean. Absolutely not. I brought my whole family over to this practice and was even going to get my kids braces there and now I'm taking them elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: I love my dental hygienist, Miss Cindy, she is so kind and gentle. The office staff are always so helpful and friendly. Dr. Fahti and the orthodontics techs give excellent care, explaining the process of straightening my teeth and how best to manage any concerns. 10/10 will recommend them to friends and family.

Negative experience: I went here twice a year for years. They never told me that I have periodontal disease. Never did a deep cleaning. Went to another dentist and a periodontist, had to have a tooth removed due to damage to my bone and the tooth moving around/ being unstable. If there was a way to hold Monarch liable, I would. They failed me.

The hygienist is always very nice she cleans my teeth with caution and she's the first to not get me wet around my neck ,keeps me dry and she doesn't even need a helper. The Dr. Was also very nice and explained everything I need to know on getting a mouth guard. And of course the ladies up front are nice and helpful. Thanks Monarch.

Negative experience: Went for a checkup and cleaning as a new customer. They refused to do a regular cleaning and would only do a "deep" cleaning charging me an additional $213.00...they are not a trustworthy place...I don't have the money for a deep cleaning and they knew that...they are just in it for the money vs. Healthy customer base and oral hygiene. Do not recommend...I will also be sharing the visit with my insurance carrier.

Negative experience: From the moment I entered the office the lady at the front had a very unprofessional with attitude towards me from the way she looked at me too the way she spoke to me , despite that I did decided to continue because I needed a service so I did get called to the back by a lady named Ms.Andrea she was wonderful great communication skills and people skills . As well as meeting Dr. Mohammed Fathi he was and is absolutely wonderful as well very welcoming and understanding of me as a patient at the facility. Now as for the lady in front she ( did come to the back to speak to me about my plan with my billing ) the entire time it was an awful feeling I had with her no good communication skills not a people’s person whatsoever has no sense of care , made me feel like I do not belong . Now she did go over pricing correctly, although the energy she gave off while explaining was awful as though she did not want to deal with me . Coming into this office was supposed to be a great experience and this lady ruined my experience so much that , I decided to leave mid way through the appointment. She then laughed at me as I was reversing my vehicle out of the parking lot . Though this experience made me want to not go back to the facility ( Selma ) I did not let that determine my experience with the doctor , he has worked hard too get in the position he is in and is continuing too work hard by treating his patients with care and understanding too get the root of the problem resolved. I booked with him at another facility the following day . The staff was off the rough great and my experience was great . As for the Selma location I truly hope this lady is not making anymore of the customers feel the way she made me feel , this is not good for the business or the doctors working at this facility .

Negative experience: This place is a scam. All they wanted was money! They didn't want my insurance that pays for my cleaning, instead they wanted to upgrade mine and my daughters cleaning and make us pay $400 out of pocket vs what my insurance covers! Once I told them I am not prepared to pay that today and we just want our basic cleaning covered by my insurance they then said they will have to reschedule our cleanings! Stay away from this place! They won't give you a normal cleaning! Just want money money money!!!!

Negative experience: I was told they had an Oral Surgeon coming in to remove my wisdom tooth but he only came in on Mondays. He was not an OS and proceeded to crush the tooth that was below the gum line. Did the same with one other molar and incisor. Excited the office before I could ask questions. Jaw area still having tooth chips bulging and loss of jaw bone. Cleaning tech had NO idea what they were doing.

We have received all services from initial exam to braces and have been satisfied with results every time we walk out the door. Front staff, hygienists (Cindy & Mrs. Fathi), staff assistants, Dr. Fathi (ortho), and not to mention, Miss. Lisa. Everyone always greet you with a smile and treat you with the utmost respect. Negative experience: Ridiculously bad service in terms of scheduling. My first appointment I waited for an hour and no one came to see me so I had to reschedule. My extraction was rescheduled the day before I was supposed to have it, and when I asked if someone else could do it that day they told me it'd be an additional $140.So I have to change locations and will remain in pain for a while longer, A shame because it seems some staff and the nurses were nice, but its not worth it if I cant be seen at a reasonable time.

Positive experience: My appointment today with dr Helen Carr? Was a horrible experience. Luckily my previous trips were much better.( reason for 3 stars) The dr came to the office and with no introduction or greeting started working on my teeth. Throughout the process of getting my fillings the Dr was aggressive is her request to keep my mouth open and appeared to be in a rush. While working on my fillings she was aggressive/forcefully pushing my mouth down telling me to keep my mouth open. (Next time just ask the patient to keep their mouth open or give them time to readjust) and As soon as my procedure was done I told her I felt discomfort still on my tooth (she asked me) and then proceed to tell me it felt different because i was numb as if i did not understand her question. She had no care for patient comfort or satisfaction and immediately went to go talk in the room next door when she finished without even saying goodbye. Worst dentist visit I have ever had.

Negative experience: Very disappointed with dentist Dr. Areej Alankar at Monarch at the Forum. After waiting for almost 2 hours, Dr. Areej was in a rush, she didn't finish my visit request since there was not time, and she had more patients waiting on procedures around 3:30 pm. She was extremely rough, no caring, her hand was very heavy. Today, after 3 month I still have pain even when chewing gum on a tooth+bleeding when flossing because of her wrong procedure. Terrible experience, unacceptable treatment.

Negative experience: After two years at this office, which was good at first, however I was desperate so I don’t realize how poor of care I was getting. They basically abandoned me as a patient, scheduled me for a consult with the doctor twice, not including my Check up I saw the the doctor for 45 seconds on one of those visits and was told she would look at exrays and get back to me that day with a treatment plan she did not. I called 6 times over the next 3 business days and was then told I had to be referred to a periodontist, I drove across town to that appointment and had to cancel versus setting in the waiting room not even being able to be signed in because they didn’t send my files over and took forever to do it. time off work cost money and they don’t care. They are owned by a corporate money monger who does not care about the patients. The Selma office overbooks patients starting right away so the doctor is literally seeing numerous patients at once while they sit in a chair and wait, she doesn’t even have time to talk to them. Now Dr. Alankar is one of the best and most talented dentists I have ever seen and it is a shame that her intelligence still allows her to work in an environment like that and give poor care to patients and make them wait for hours for 15 to 20 minutes of care. It is rushed, and they never do what they say they are going to do because they are overloaded. And there is a lot of turnover, a sign of a horrible workplace environment. It’s all about money. I actually got forgot about in a chair once and 30 minutes later got up and asked someone and no one was tracking I was even there. This isn’t a one time thing. Since then, I saw a private dentist and the difference was night and day, they don’t over book and the doctor was actually there for my appointment with him, that was so new to me after being with monarch Selma for so long. I also redid my referral with another monarch office in schertz and after 45 minutes of waiting on Selma to send my file that they could have sent the day before when they made the appointment I was once again treated timely and professionally by the doctor who was not in a mad rush like dr Alana’s is to get to the next 6 patients waiting in a chair for her, and to top that their exact same treatment plan was way over 3k cheaper than the Selma office, same company, same insurance? Monarch Selma has caused me more pain than they know, some they are not aware of because I was not even allowed to speak to the doctor in that 45 second consult because she said i need new exrays and walked away in a rush. I am sick to my stomach over what they put me through. Despite having a brilliant dentist, I don’t think there is a worse place you can go to. I also have to wonder how much money they overcharged because I am 100% sure they have taken advantage of me and my insurance company and charge for care I didn’t get or didn’t need. X-rays every time??

Fantastic experience: All of the Staff and Dr was absolutely more than Amazing! We were New Patients and felt that we were being Cared for rather than be looked at as a Number. They did their absolute best to be sure the Treatment plan fory Daughters was what I was comfortable with, timing and affordability. My only wish is that we would've found them sooner.

Negative experience: They waited till after I had aged off my mom's insurance to send them the bill then waited a YEAR AND A HALF after I had been there to mail me a bill for $650 expecting me to pay what insurance wouldn't because insurance had assumed i wasn't covered anymore and didn't have insurance. I have called several times and they said I had to deal with my old insurance a YEAR AND A HALF LATER and that it wasn't on them. I have been in contact with my old insurance and they said they have handed it, yet Monarch is STILL sending me bills for $650. I am trying to get a house and I refuse to pay for their screw up and no one there is helping. They are prederatory in their billing and if they don't get this fixed soon I will be involving the Better Buisness Bureau because this is disgusting and im not going to let this go to collections. Be careful going there. They seem nice but they do not care about you what so ever.

Fantastic experience: The service was great. Everyone was very personable and had a sense of humor. The office was clean, which is important. 2nd visit. The dentist, Dr. Alankar, was very gentle and thorough. She explained what she was doing throughout the procedure. So glad I chose this office. So far, still a great experience.

Fantastic experience: Been to this location 4 times now in 2 months for a lot of dental work - and every experience has been wonderful. The staff is so caring and compassionate. I have issues with certain things that can make their job a little more difficult - and they have been absolutely kind and really did whatever they could to make things work and keep me as comfortable as possible. Negative experience: This is the absolute worst dental office I’ve ever been to, as far as scheduling goes. I am a single mom with 3 kids, I don’t have the availability to take off work for no reason as this clinic has made me do. First, they can’t schedule more than two people in a family for one day…. Okay sure. My very first appointment, I scheduled over the phone, the day before my appointment they called to tell me the office was actually closed that day. I rescheduled. I took off work, show up and they tell me they’re overbooked and I need to reschedule. I did. Show up, everything is fine. They could only do X-rays, no cleaning because the hygienist was booked. Scheduled more appointments for the cleaning. They tell me I have a cavity, my son needs a gum deep cleaning. Cool, again, schedule it. I get repeated texts messages reminding me of my 10am & 11am appointments. We show up at 9:55am, check in and wait. At 10:30 I hadn’t been called back so I go ask how much longer was my wait? They proceed to tell me my appointment is at 2:30 but they can get me with the orthodontist. I showed them my texts proving I had 10am appointments, they say nothing. I finished my consultation with the ortho at 11:30, I started making a big fuss about the timing so they put me in a room. At 11:45, I texted my son to see if he had been called back and he said no, I got up and told them cancel everything. I’m changing dentist. I WILL NEVER be back here. WHO EVER is in charge of y’all’s appointments needs training, big time. I paid out of pocket for my fillings and my son’s cleaning to a dentist that doesn’t even accept our insurance. It was much better than wasting my time here.

Positive experience: Two cavities were found. Tooth #2 was prepped and received a temporary cap. Constant pain throughout the next few days till I was given an appointment to install the perm crown. Crown was cemented on but pain continues primarily with cold and hot food/liquids. The whole time I was being worked on I heard Root canal mentioned. The doc also mentioned the possibility of needing a root canal. I don't intend to waste my time and money when I feel root canals are being pushed and probably made to happen.

Negative experience: This place is a perfect example of our broken healthcare system. I called two weeks ago to get an appointment for a filling because my tooth was hurting. The lady who answered the phone, very rudely told me that she cannot schedule me for a filling, but that I would have to come in for x-rays and cleaning and the doctor would diagnose me and then schedule for the feeling. I said, fair enough, I asked her how much it would cost, and she said she couldn’t tell me until the day before the appointment, no offer to call me back when she had the information the day of the appointment still had not heard from them. I called to ask, but they put me on hold, and I eventually had to hang up. Day of, I was greeted by an unfriendly receptionist. After waiting for 20 minutes, I went up to the desk and stood there for a while because there was no one there. When the receptionist reappeared, she very bluntly told me to sit back down because she had another patient to take care of. Eventually, they got me back. The technician who took my x-rays and the doctor brightened the day because they were treating me like another human being, worthy of respect, then the hygienist arrived and she had similar attitudes like the receptionist and the other lady who had originally taken my call. After one hour and 45 minutes of my being there they took me back to the front desk and told me that I needed a deeper cleaning than normal (which I believe is a way to make 2 visits out if 1) and so they’re not gonna clean my teeth and will schedule me for another time. I asked them to schedule me for my filling and she said as rudely as before that since I was ‘late’ (gaslighting me because I had mentioned to the hygienist that this had been a long appointment), I could either sit for 20 minutes and wait for her to write up the treatment plan or she would call me back once she had it ready. I tried to ask her why they couldn’t complete my cleaning today because I always get a cleaning whenever I get my x-rays and she gives me a long speech in a very intimidating tone trying to shut me up. I asked her if she could at least schedule my filling because my tooth had been bothering me for a while and she said she couldn’t do that unless I approved the treatment plan. The next day I get an email from them with $1600 worth of treatments after insurance. I am in shock. I wrote them back that I just wanted a normal cleaning and a simple filling…no response so I emailed them back a couple of days later, still no response. Whenever I call them, they put me on instant hold. So after two weeks and 2 hours of my time being wasted, my tooth filling still hasn’t been revolved. I have no desire to give them the opportunity to disrespect me or upsell me treatments I don’t need or have money for. I’ll have to find another dentist and since they used up my annual X-rays I’ll just have to pay for them out if pocket at the new place.

Positive experience: I was a very disappointed when I had a crown replaced yesterday and the tooth next to it was gray and I asked for them to put some composite on it like they did on the tooth to the left so they would match better. After insurance it would have cost me $25 out of pocket they said no that's what your teeth look like. Not a happy person.

They are all very friendly, and you're made to feel like a welcomed guest, not a patient. Waiting room wait time is not long. I have been with Cindy hygienist for a long time and always makes me feel comfortable. My regular dentist, Dr Alankar wasn't in clinic today, so i saw the most sweetest, kindest doctor ever. Dr Garza fits right in. Thank you Monarch, for all you do.

Fantastic experience: Coming here was the best experience I could have hoped for. Everyone is so nice and helpful but most importantly they all do amazing A++ work!

Positive experience: My initial visit was not was I hoped for. The tech first was not all that concerned with hygiene as she started to work without gloves and the clinic's policy is to sanitize the room right after use with would be fine except that the plastic liners that they place on the equipment is then exposed until used again by the next customer which could be only a few minutes or hours later. The dentist that I visit with me did not complete the initial assessment because my blood pressure was not ideal according to her. No work was done on me or was planned for that matter so I felt there was no risk and therefore no reason for the denied of service. Maybe the next visit maybe better if there is one...

Fantastic experience: I had a wisdom tooth removal, and it didn't originally go so well as the tooth that was bothering me didn't fully get removed, and a fragment was left in there. I called them the day after figuring out I still had it, and they made the room for me in the day to get it out as it was incredibly uncomfortable to deal with. They were incredibly nice about it and made it quick and easy, and made every effort to help me feel comfortable. I've been a customer for years, and I dont regret it!
